Quality Of Images Imported Into Flash

I need to import transparent images into Flash. I am using high quality gifs but the resolution is lost in flash on the screen. Can anyone suggest an alternative to this. Or how to solve resolution problems. Is there other formats that would help achieve the two goals of quality and transparent aspects of the image.

Thanks
Collin

Quicktime Video Quality When Imported To Flash
Hello, I am trying to import a Quicktime video into Flash. The quicktime quality seems fine, but when I play it in flash and exported, it gets the lines breaking it up. I've tried both embedding it onto the timeline, and streaming it from the server and the quality looks the same. I also have tried an FLV and seem to get the same problem. Is there a setting I am missing or something?

Here is the original quicktime.(give it a sec to load)
http://www.r2integrated.com/clients/...est_Clip_1.mov

and here is what my swf winds up looking like with that video clip in it

You can see the horizontal white lines I am getting. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Use Imported MP3 Quality Not Available
I am trying to avoid having flash recompress my MP3 audio when publishing. In the help menu, it says I should open the properties dialogue for the MP3 file in my library. Then I should select "MP3" from the dropdown menu. Then I should select "Use imported MP3 quality." However, when I select "MP3" from the dropdown menu, there is no use imported MP3 quality option. It only gives me compression options.

I have searched these forums and it looks like there are others having this problem, but no answer has been given. When I choose "view comments on livedocs" from the help menu, there is a comment that someone else is having this problem, but no solution offered from Adobe or anyone. If anyone has experience with this, or if there are any adobe support personnel that read these forums, I would really really appreciate a solution to this. Is there something my audio technician needs to know when he is creating MP3 files? Is there something else within flash that I need to address? Please help.

Use Imported Mp3 Quality?
Last edited by conspirisi : 2005-09-12 at 03:04.

I've become familiar with the "use imported mp3 quality" in Flash.

I liked it. But I've been playing with the setting and I can't find the option to go back to "use imported mp3 quality" where is it? I discovered the "use default" setting, but it doesn't seem to do the same thing.

i want my mp3? anyone know?

thanks in advance.

Why Does MX Reduce Imported Graphic's Quality?
I have an image created in Image Composer, and every time I import into Flash, it is much much blurrier than it is in Image Composer. Does anyone know why? Does anyone know how to fix it? It is a text graphic, and there's no way I could create it in Flash. So, what do I do?

Imported JPGs - Improve Quality?
Hi.

Please have a look at the following Flash MX movie that I created, and advise me on whether I can improve the quality of the JPGs that are loaded into the movie. There is a lot of pixelation (sp?) in the jpgs.

Canadian Army Flash Movie

Is it just a matter of importing larger files?

BTW, thanks to all who helped me with the preloader.

Blur Effect On Imported Images In Flash
Esteemed Ladies & Gents

I have imported a graphic into my timeline, which I would like to blur over a period of say 20 frames. Currently, the only way I can get the desired effect is to blur the image in photoshop and import the blurred images into flash. I would do this for the 20 frames I would like the blur to occur over. Obviously, this is going to make my flash file very big indeed.

Is there no way in ActionScript that I can pull in the actual image and perform the blur on the image, either over a number of frames of fractions of seconds??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Fabman

Flash Adding Borders To Imported Images

Good Quality Images In Flash
Are there any tricks for keeping the resolution of images high so that the end flash movie is crisp but not a massive file?

[F8] Crappy Quality Of Imported/loaded PNG RGBA
I first thought this is limited to imported PNGs, but run this code on attached file:
Code:
import flash.display.*
import flash.geom.*

var loadListener:Object = new Object();

loadListener.onLoadComplete = function(target_mc:MovieClip, httpStatus:Number):Void {
mc.transform.colorTransform = new ColorTransform (1,1,1,0,0,0,0,255);
}

var mcLoader:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
mcLoader.addListener(loadListener);

var mc:MovieClip = this.createEmptyMovieClip("mc", this.getNextHighestDepth());
mcLoader.loadClip("africa.png", mc);
what gives..?

if you take the file in photoshop and do a hundred of ctrl+J/ctrl+E on the layer, you will see that there are, in fact, pretty nice colors in the image.

Masked Images In Flash - Quality Problems -
Ok, I have these images in a flash movie - they are all .swf's - they all look ok at this point. But when I call them into a mask in a new movie (the mask is slight angled - about 12 degrees) the angle of the mask seems to mess up the quality of the image. Any ideas of how to fix this?

Thanks again!

[CS3] Quality Issues When Exporting Images From Flash

Scaling Images In Flash 8 And Above Without Loosing Quality
Hi,

Does anyone know of a way to scale images without them 'pixelating' or degrading in quality and are smooth?

Here is an example www.isodesign.co.uk

This is done by embedding the image in a version 7 swf then loading it into another swf created in version 8, if you load the image directly into version 8 + it degrades the image on resize both up and down and doesn't have the same 'smooth' appearance on scaling?

Does anyone have any ideas how to do this without involving pre version 8 swf's?

Use Imported JPEG Data Vs: Use Document Default Quality
I have created two fla files and imported jpegs into each. when I go into the library and view the properties of the images in each fla file they give me different options for export. One of the fla files gives me a "Use imported JPEG data" checkbox and the other one gives me a "Use document default quality" checkbox. I like the use imported JPEG data option better. Why are they different????? (driving me nuts

How Do I Prevent Images In Flash Site From Being Resized To Lesser Quality?
Hi,

I have a new Flash website. In it are about 20 thumbnails that, when clicked, open up into large ~750x600 images. The images contain some text on them. In Flash itself, the images open up properly and look great. But when the site is placed on the web (and the html code below is used), the images are resized to smaller, poorer quality and the text (on the images) is practically unreadable. I have tried the images as jpegs and pngs - both look crappy on the web.

I use the following html code to make the site fit peoples' various browser window sizes. This is what is causing my problem, because when I don't use this html code the images look fine. But, I NEED to use this code in order for the site to fit various browser windows.

HTML Code:
<OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"
WIDTH="100%" HEIGHT="100%" id="index.swf">
<PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="index.swf">
<PARAM NAME=quality VALUE=high>
<PARAM NAME=bgcolor VALUE=#FFFFFF>
<EMBED src="index.swf" quality=high bgcolor=#FFFFFF WIDTH="100%" HEIGHT="100%"
NAME="index.swf" ALIGN="" TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash"
PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">
</EMBED>
</OBJECT>
The Flash code that I am using to open and close the pics from thumbnails is this:

HTML Code:
on (release) {
openUp = _root.attachMovie("pic1", "pic1", 2);
openUp._x = Stage.width / 2 - (openUp._width/2);
openUp._y = Stage.height / 2 - (openUp._height/2);
openUp.onRelease = function() {
removeMovieClip(this);
};
}
So how can I make my site fit the browser window WITHOUT ruining my images in the process? How can I 1) keep the image sizes constant, or 2) let the images resize along with the rest of the site, but keep them in good quality?

Thanks for your advice!

Bad Quality For JPEG Encoded Images ,,<***(sample Images INSIDE)***>
I have noticed that the quality of the images produced by the JPEGEncoder does not match that of other encoders available (i.e. php’s built in image compression functions from the gd library)

Any explanation ? or hints/workarounds for improving the quality of compressed images by JPEGEncoder ??

Please have a look at the following samples:

original image:
http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/5930/67624460qh5.jpg
Size: 110KB

Image encoded with JPEGAsync (same effect with JPEGEncoder):
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/3554/77570198qp0.jpg
Size:46.7KB

Image encoded with Php’s built-in functions (gd library):
http://img382.imageshack.us/img382/7751/1492if8.jpg
Size:33.4KB
Much smoother than the JPEGAsyncencoder and JPEGEncoder version.. and smaller too

Any hints ? or workarounds to improve the quality of the encoded images ?

Cannot Alter "document-jpeg-quality" And "use Imported Jpeg Quality"?
sometimes in MX i can always choose between "use document default jpeg-quality" or "enter an integer for quality" for imported jpeg-data. (possibly jpgs generated with photoshop 6)
sometimes i can never - i just have to choose between "use imported jpeg-quality" or "enter an integer for quality".
(definitely jpgs generated with photoshop 7)

can anyone tell me why this happens?

are there preferences in photoshop 7 that solve my problem?

thanxx jo

Imported Images
I'm importing a picture from my computer seperate from flash into flash, that's easy. My problem is that I can't get the white(since my picture is not a perfect square) to go away. How do I go about doing that? I want to make the background of the imported image transparent without effecting the rest of it

Editing Imported Images

Using Imported Html + Images. . .
I'm using an external text file for my text. I want to know:
[if possible]
1.) How do I switch text files, using text files. Lets say I want to go to page 2 w/o having to change the swf file.

2.) How do I use imported html to show/import images with the text?

Problem With Imported Images
Hey all...

I have a little problem when I import images into my flash movie.. If I start a new movie and import a .png or .gif image it all looks like it should when I zoom in..... But when I then test the movie it doesn't show it right.... it looks like it has duplicated the image and then moved it down by 1 pixel..... The image i've imported has a bright top line and a black bottom line, both 1 pixel thick.... It's very annoying because when I test it the black line at the bottom is gone and the bright line at the top is now 2 pixels thick

Anyone had this kinda problem also ?

Any help would be appreciated

Transparency With Imported Images
Hi,

Do you know the best way to import graphics to Flash? The problems I'm running into are this:

1) Is there a way to import graphics and maintain transparency?

2) What are the most popular file types to import, and from what program? I think Fireworks is a good one, but not sure.

Thanks.

How Do I Edit Imported Images?
I have drawings and pictures that I'd like to import to Flash and then be able to edit them with the flash drawing tools.
The drawings and pictures are in JPEG and BITMAP formats.
I've been able to import them to the library, but when I put them on the stage - I am unable to use any of the drawing tools like the brush or paint can. I can skew and "combine", but that is about it.

So how do I make a JPEG or BITMAP image editable?

Thank you in advance,

Changing Imported Images
Is there anyway to change an imported image into an actual flash type object that can be used like any object created by flash?

Because I want to use an imported image for a masking effect, but its a gif so i dont know how i would transfer a pixel image into a flash vector. I had to make that image in pixel format just to clear that up.

Thnx in advance

Images Imported With A Hue Effect
How the heck do you import a fireworks image onto the flash document with the image still bieng with it hue/ or seethrough effect. I really have tryed over and over again but i find it cannot be done if it can? then can you import it onto a dreamweaver etc with that effect in tact.

If you still don't know what i'm saying then its the kind of effect like looking out of a stainglass window. that effect on an image whcih i want to import on flash or dreamweaver and move the image anywhere on the document with that effect visable by i.e. overlapping.

If you still don't know what i'm talking about then please say so and i'll get an image of what i mean posted here!
