Quicktime Movies In Flash?
Hi all,

Well I have a couple books on flash and they just aren't giving me all the info I need about working with quicktime too. I'm using flash version 5. I have an intro to a site that sandwiches two 3d animations and then has type and vector effects from flash in the middle. Idealy I wanted just to publish it and have the .swf file displayed in the html page to just play like a normal flash movie. The quicktime movies i imported to flash are not showing up. If i publish the file as a quick time movie it works how is susposed to, althougth the file size is enormis.

Anyone have any tips for me?

Also I would like to have preloader on that but I know quicktime doesnt' support a lot of complex actionscripting. anyone have any ideas on this either?

Quicktime Movies In Flash 5
Hello

I'm attempting to place a Quicktime movie into Flash 5.

So far I have imported the movie, I have set the frames to reflect those of the movie, and I have created a working transport that allows me to play, stop and rewind the movie.

All of these functions work within the Flash environment as a .FLA file. I can play the movie and see it working perfectly, just like I want it.

However, when I publish my Flash movie as a Quicktime movie the video does not show up.

I tried publishing it as a .swf even though I have read that I must publish it as a Quicktime movie - and the movie still does not show up. Not even the first frame of it appears.

Does anyone have any solutions?

did a search, but turned up nothin'. here is what i'm trying to do...quite simple actually:

i'm building a simple frame label navigation website in flash. i can't figure out how to have a button activate a quicktime movie. it's a simple post production clip i worked on for my demo reel. i've figured out how to link an audio file to the "down state" of my buttons, but can't figure out how to play a short movie clip. any help will be greatly appreciated.

If I could embed quicktime in flash and got some replies saying that yes it was possible by having it as exported jpgs and then make it into separate .swf and loaded etc etc.
but this website has quicktime embeded on it how???
I tried to look at the code on the html page that has the flash movie but it's confusing
Does anybody know the right script to embed an html with the quicktime on it?????

Questions With Using Quicktime Movies & Flash
I have this quicktime animation that I want to play by linking it through flash. (Keep in mind this isn't for the internet - yet - but just an interactive cd for now).

If I import the .mov into flash, then publish everything into a quicktime movie the resulting .mov goes a LOT slower than the original quicktime. Is there another way around this? I'm doing this because I want to have a link in my original .swf file to open up another window with my quicktime animation (and have my own play/pause/stop buttons).

The other question would be: How do u script a quicktime .mov into an html page? The html page that flash makes along with the .mov doesn't seem to be working right for me. I'm sure this is all pretty simple I just can't get it to work correctly.

In the end, basically i want to have a link that javascripts open another window that plays my animation. ANY help at all would be EXTREMELY appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there! After some nights of trying to play a Quicktime Movie in a Flashwindow, I gave up. Is there somebody who can help me to bring this f..n movie selected from the playlist in the tv screen above, take a look at http://www.nachtwerk.tv . The problem is, that my QTplayer seems to need an extra plugin to view this movie or to convert it, but I´ve allready downloaded the latest Player Ver. 6. from apple.com - not better than before! Do I need the Director?

Importing Quicktime Movies Into Flash?
Whenever I import a quicktime movie into flash it is fine, however when I alter the brightness and contrast etc, it distorts the top 5% of the movies so there is a band across the top where all the colours are all altered.
any help would be great.

I am building a Flash movie that I would like to link 24 QuickTime movies to show up within the Flash movie. Obviously loading all those would be a drag for the user. Is it possible to link them to show up on demand rather than loading all 24 of them with the movie? If so, how would you do that. If not, what's the next best thing?

I have been trying to figure out how to do this, but I just have no Idea! I'm making a cd-rom and I want to play a quicktime movie (.mov) from the flash projector. I know I can use embedded video in flash, but is it possible to open the video without putting it onto the timeline?

I found a site that has embedded QUICKTIME MOVIES in FLASH.

They have a play button when pressed plays a super high quality quicktime video. The videos are very large in size. The movie starts as the rest of the movie is downloading. It is embedded in flash.

How is this accomplished? I do not want to use the flv or media component features in flash.

Export Flash Movies In Quicktime
I am haveing some problems exporting Flash to the Quicktime movie format (.mov).

When I try to export the file I get a message that says...

Tge Ubstallled version of QuickTime does not have a handler for this type of Macromedia Flash movie.

This leads me to think that I need an older version of Quicktime (I have QuickTime 7) do I need an older version? If so how old and where can I find it?

I need to insert a couple of QuickTime movies in flash 5.

Questions>>
1) Is Flash 5 able to support QT files?
2) How do I unload the movies and play the QT files in Flash 5 WITHOUT creating anothe html file for it?
3)What sort of actionscripting is there involved?

My QT files names are "03.Uprock.mov" and "04.futurism.mov".
Should I still keep to this naming convention or should I change the files name?

I'm pulling my hair out as I can't figure it out.

Attaching Quicktime Movies To A Flash Website
Looking for some help people

I have designed a website in flash and am now trying to attach a quicktime movie to play, and am having a number of problems with this.

Fistly if I embed the movie like flash suggests the sound becomes out of syne. So my next option was to attach it as a progressive download. This works in flash however when I test the site with test movie the movie doesnt appear at all. Its just blank.

Also how can I play a .flv file as when my quicktime movies convert to .flv files I can no longer see them. Why?

Please can someone advice me the best way to attach a quicktime movie. I have been going at this all week.

Is it possible to have Quicktime VR movies embedded in a Flash movie, and if so hows it done?

I tried importing a .mov file into flash but it didn't want to import it. If not in Flash is there a better way to display Quicktime VR movies, or is it worth just having them as a seperate download?

HELP Quicktime Movies...
I'm producing an swf file to be played from a DVD, never has to go near the web. The quicktime movies which need to play within the file are 120mb upwards. When I embed them into the flash document everything grinds to a just saving a simple change takes around 15 minutes.

What am I doing wrong? What can I do to make things run a little faster?!

I recently converted some flash files to quicktime movies and was surprised how large the file grew. In some cases from 948 kb (in the swf file) to 44 mb in the Quicktime movie. Is this due to the compression settings and also, is it possible to reduce your file size or keep it the same when converting from Flash to movies.

can anyone suggest the best way to display vr movies over the web.
for some reason i can't embed a quicktime vr movie into flash, and having the quicktime movies as standalone means a lengthy download for the player(don't know why quicktimes player is now 11meg!!!).
otherwise can anyone suggest alternative vr software??

But, how would I go about making a option to see quicktime movies from my website.i.e when a user goes to the motion/film section he/she can press a button which brings up a quicktime movie with the quicktime controls on it, like you see on some websites.

Any help with these particular video embedding problems would be great:

1) My Flash movie has a long delay before starting the first scene, even though the scene containing the QUicktime comes later (probably b/c of the mov file size). I tried re-compressing but problem remains. Is there any other way so that my Flash plays without the long delay?

2) The audio is out of sync with the video.

3) The Quicktime clip plays even when moved to another scene (you can hear the audio in the bg) almost as if there is a button on the next scene that is somehow "triggering" the trailer to start again.

Anyone who has some great tips for importing Quicktime trailers into FLash, I would appreciate any help.

Loading Quicktime Movies
I am working on a major project for my college. I am pretty much done with the project. The part I have saved to do for the end is loading movie clips into the Flash document. I loaded 48 videos and for each one I embedded it into a MovieClip, resulting in 48 movieclips. The problem I have come across is the videos sound is not supported by flash. I have done the video files in iMovie (would have rather used Final Cut or a better editing program) and then exported them as Quicktime Movies. I don't know what I have done wrong.

One option I have come up with, which would massively cut down my file size is having them link and open in quicktime. Is this possible, and how would I go about doing this. I am not sure if I just use the regular getURL tags in action script.

If anyone out there can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Preloader For QuickTime Movies?
Is it possible to use Flash as a preloader to a QuickTime video? What I'd like is to have a preloader in Flash that tracks the download of the video (which is in .mov format) & counts up systematically. Once the video file's download is complete it should then play it in the same window, using QuickTime. Any advice or suggestions on this are greatly appreciated - thanks.

Linked Quicktime Movies
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone could help me out with Linked Quicktime Movies. Ive read the tutorials on the Macromedia site, as well as the help file but they really dont answer "how" to make linked files work.

Basicly I perform all the same steps as an embedded file, except when it comes to publishing. Under the HTML tab I chose Quicktime, and under the flash tab I chose flash player 4 (anything above flash 4 gave me an error).

When I press publish I get a notification about my HTML and new tags, then when I run the HTML file I get a plugin error (yes I have the newest Quicktime).

Sooo.. Can anyone tell me what Im doing wrong? Or direct me to a good precise tutorial?

Converting Mpg Movies To Quicktime Format
I have been tryin to convert mpg movies to quicktime format i.e.(.mov)
I am using FlashMx 2004 version.

What actually happens is that when I try to export movie i.e. (mpg, embedded in flash), or when I try to publish the same, it shows me that the Quicktime installed does not have handler for this type of flash movie.

I have been tryin to get this done for a long time pls help.

Triggering Quicktime Movies To Play
This should be simple, but...

I have a project (a flash cd) that has to remain as an .exe (not quicktime) when finished, and therefore keep its interactivity.

Whithin the cd there's several buttons that each need to trigger quicktime movies to play. They should play on their own...not inside the flash cd.

The movies all together are too big to embed in the flash movie, so I have to link them from somewhere on the cd.

How do you go about this? I'm sure the answer is right there in front of my nose but every tutorial I read tells me that the whole project has to become a quicktime. Am I understanding this right?

How To Export Swfs As Quicktime Movies?

I posted earlier that the movie clips weren't exporting properly in quicktime (also the image quality is distorted) so I've tried going through the flash manual and choosing just quicktime under publish settings but it now won't let me even publish the movie. I'd really appreciate any advice.

I am making a website for a company that has a bunch of clips of commercials, music videos, etc in quicktime .mov format. When the button is clicked I want to load the quicktime into the swf. The quicktimes need to open in the same spot and replace the old movie. I have tried a bunch of different options, nothing seems to work. HELP! please
