I have an (onRelease)GET URL. I have it opening in a _blank window but I want to open it up to a 640x480 window. I can do it through javascript but I don't know how to do it in Flash...!!!!

Flash Window Resizing
I have a simple question. I would like to know how to open up separte smaller windows in a flash website. For example, you are on my site, and then click on a picture link and another small window fit to the picture size pops open. I want the windo to have no scroll bar and no explorer bar etc. Just a plain window with flash content. I have looked in various actionscript books and can't seem to find it. Its driving me nuts.

Resizing A Window In Flash
I created a movieclip that acts just like a window (Minimize button, close button, draggable). In the bottom right corner of the window there is a resizing button. I want to be able to click and hold on that button and drag to change the size and shape of the window. Is there a tutorial for this somewhere? If not, can someone explain how to do it? Resizing A Browser Window Within Flash ?
Hello people....

Bit stuck on this one.. I want my browser window to ease to a different size from within a flash movie. Trigered when the user presses a button.

For eg: My homepage might be 800x600... and when the user clicks to go to portfolio the IE browser scales to 600x400 ??

I've been searching through this forum with not much luck...

Here's my problem:

My entire site is flash based, and I have imported it into dreamweaver. What I want to know is how to make flash take up the full browser, no matter what screen res the viewer has, or at least be centered in the browser for everyone despite differing screen res's.

[F8] Resizing Flash Window Size
I'm trying to create a small flash creation where that when the user opens the flash it will resize according to their screen resolution.
At the moment I have the following code that tells me what resolution the users screen size is:

trace(System.capabilities.screenResolutionX);
trace(System.capabilities.screenResolutionY);

I now want to be able to use this info to change the dimensions of the flash window. I'm assuming it will be relatively straight forward, but I can't seem to be able to find where I can do this.

In that example, the item looks fine if the window is 230 px by 250 px or larger. But if the window is too small then part of the item is not displayed.

I would like for it to work as it does with one exception:

If the window size is SMALLER than 230 px by 250 px then the flash object should dynamically become smaller, as it does here:

I am sure this can be done with JS.

Any ideas how?

Forbid Resizing Of Flash Player's Window?
Hello!

Is there any way how I can forbid the resizing of the flash player's window by user? Because in this way even the objects which shouldn't be visible are visible (for example the clouds, they are out of view because of smooth entering to visible area, but by resizing they become visible). Or any idea how to solve this? I know I could make a large object with a window in it and put it to the top layer. Any other way?

Opening A New Window With Specified Dimensions And No Resizing Inside Flash
I want to open a new window that can't be resized or a have a scroll bar from inside flash. I can do it from an html button using javascript. You can see what I mean if you go to the bands website. http://www.round-tree.com When you enter the site, it opens up a new window that is 600 pixels wide and 400 pixels tall. Once there go to the photos section. From there I want to use the same method for the photo gallery but don't know how to call it from flash. Any help is appreciated.

Flash Player Settings Dialog Window Position?
You know that window that pops-up when Flash needs to get camera/mic permission from your machine aka the Flash Player Settings dialog window. Now, this window pops-up right in the middle of the screen. I need it to pop-up on top of the screen or any other position that i would it to pop-up.

Setting Position And Resizing Help
I know this is probably easy to do but for some reason I cannot get this to work. I am using a screen resolution of 1280 x 1024. I have my navigation MC at

navigation_mc._y = 673;
navigation_mc._x = 946;

I want it to be that when the screen is fullscreen the mc will be at the positions above, but when I resize the browser window, the mc will resize as well. I know how to set the mc at the bottom if I wanted. But I dont know how to set it initially to the positions above but still scale to the browser window.

Below is what I have, but if someone can help me with setting the positions as well as allowing to scale it would be greatly appreciated.

I've used the random motion tutorial, and got that working. Now i'd like things to resize themselves depending on where they are on the screen.. For example, if its at the very top, its 75% and if its at the bottom, 125%.

Flash CS4 Window Resizing Behavior Missing Ability To Pull Floating Windows From Top
Hi everyone,

I am not sure this is the correct spot to post feedback on Flash CS4, if its not please let me know where the right spot is.

Ok I noticed in Flash CS4 that Adobe has changed the way windows are able to be resized when floating. Deviating from the way Windows XP GUI normally functions in all applications. When a window is floating Windows users are able to resize there windows on all 4 sides. Basically we are able to stretch and pull from the top, bottom, left and or right side. In CS4, Adobe has crippled the ability to pull and stretch from the top of the window (this would have no impact on the docking of windows imo). This is an annoyance that I can only imagine was inspired from the OSX but I could be wrong.

Could Adobe restore this functionality?

there are a couple of things of flash, that i was unnable to solve from a long time up to now.
and everitime i look on related post of these topics, there are always with 0 answers.

so, i will place here a couple of posts, one with each problem i want to resolve,
i really prefer to use as much flash as i can before i like it much more than any other software, but i believe we will all agreed that it has some weak points.

so basically this post is related on how we can interact flash to other web design software

Here is problem 2:

our flash movies, at least mines,
that i design everithing in flash,
ther are located in a special place of the browser window

here, the flash movie its centered in the browser window,
and when i resize the BW,
it stays centered unless the BW its smaller than the movie


i will like to know how is this done,
i mean,
its flash with another software working together ?
its everithig designed with something else and the flash movies are just accesories ??
or is full designed in flash in a way i still dont get it ???

becouse i've alrready tried a lot of things without any luck

could any of you give me a hand with this ??

Resizing Movie Clip Moves Its Y Position -- Help
I have a clip that I am resizing with actions script like so:

setProperty ("_root.bar.", _height, "100");

when I do that the postion of the clip changes and I need it to stay in the same place. I've checked the _y value of the clip before and after resizing it and it still says the _y=0 each time.

Can anyone help me out here? Im not sure why the clip is moving although Im sure it has to do with resizing it, but how can I keep it in the same place it originally was.

Resizing Two Movie Clips Whilst Adjusting It's X,y Position
I am trying to resize a 2 or more movieclips, but when I resize them I want them to have a relative postion to one another for example decreasing the size of two movieclip touching each other, I would like the movieclips to maintain a relative x,y position.. so if decreased or increased in size they will still look the same.

This movie clips are on the stage, so I can not attach it from the library.

Image Resizing/fixed Position For Larger Images
Hello all.

I have decided to play around with Flash and try and teach myself something. Now I have done http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx20...otogallery.htm this tutorial, as well as the other tutorial to add a scrolling thumbnails element to it with no problems at all.

I have (using the code provided by Cello in his resize.zip found here http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthre...resize+picture) made it so images of any size can be used. From this, how would i make it so rather then eh top left of each image being loaded, the center of each image is loaded. This way all pictures will have their position in the same location?

I have changed the layout and everything to accommodate the larger sizes, and right now i have started from scratch so i do not have the scrolling thumbnail element included.

Resizing The Window ?

I have an application in which thre are some windows to control the settings and all.

now the problem is, I want those windows to be SIZIBLE...ie. on pressing and dragging at the bottom right corner of the window, the window shud get resized as we do in normal windows applications..the child objects in my window should not get expanded/compressed. the winodow contents dimensions should be intact and their relative position may change based on the main window.

For more simplicity I want to develop a Chat window like Yahoo instant message window..in which, on resizing the winodow size the TEXT AREA gets resiged and other objects are intact..

I have tried, but I could expand/compress the whole window ..but not resizing it..

any Ideas plz ??

Hi Everyone, I have a question (hopefully a simply one.)

Does anyone know how I can embed an swf in a page such that when the window is resized, the movie behaves in the same way as when you preview it from within flash using "test movie". That is to say - the movie does not rescale as the window is resized, and content is visible outside of the 'dimensions' of the movie.

I have a big problem please help.

I have at the begining of the project made my stage to small 550x 400 (default) but now when i open the IE the project shows in that size, it also shows like that when i open the Application (.exe) file (icon with the grey F).

when i try to resize the window all the banner designs dont fill the screen as i adjust the window it simply does not work.


did i have to choose the right stage size from start or can I change that with action script now, or adjust some settings on the publishing tap.

I am trying to open a small image into a new browser window and there is too much of open space and I would like the window size to be altered to fit the image.

Resizing F5 Browser Window
I have seen this effect in one web page, when at the time when preloader have loaded needed data browser window becomes larger and it is tweening in the same time. I tryed to set different moovie sizes in diferent scenes, but it doesnt work

please help me!

Resizing A Dragable Window.
Can anybody exlpain to me in simple terms how I can create a resizable Flash window. I have trawled through the Tutorials and Flash movies and while there are some good examples of resizable windows I cannot decipher the coding to deconstruct them.

My window has at present maximise/minimise toggle, close button, and is dragable. But I cannot get my head around how to use the Drag function, or alternatively the mouseMove function, to scale the window on the stage.

What has been happening is that resize button will move independent of the window and the window scales erratically.

So what I'm asking for is a 101 class in resizing a dragable window if anybody could be of help.
