Retaining Quality Of Video And Sound
Why is it that when I test a movie I'm working on in Flash MX the quality of the video and sound drop? Everything is fine when I view it in the work area (or whatever it's called) when I just press Enter and watch the timeline. Is there a way to fix this? As an alternative, I've recently been exporting my Flash files as videos so they will remain good quality. The problem with this is movie clip symbols don't animate. Is there any way to make all of it animate normally?

I'll really appreciate it if I can get some help here. I've been dealing with crappy Flash movie quality for a while, and it discourages me from working with Flash.

Retaining Maximum Sound Quality?
I am importing a movie in two tracks to have more control over the audio...the video plays well but the sound always seems to compress even after I played with the settings... how do I keep the sound as is and uncompressed? Does having it set to stream compress it some how? Shold I just import the movie as one track and adjust the sound then?

I've got a swf with sound and when I export it everything is fine. However as soon as I instansiate a new sound object to be able to control the volume etc. the sound quality goes up the duff! What can I do to fix this problem???

I'm having trouble maintaining the quality of sound that plays within a Flash movie.

Is there anyway to increase the quality, or decrease the degregation of a .WAV file (in this case, dialogue) when the movie is published?

I have imported some *.wav files into flash. They are high quality files, but whenever I export my movie. The quality gets really bad, I tried to play with the export settings, but it still is not very good quality. The wavs are really good.

I have recorded audio in protools 44.1kHz 16bit, and want to incorporate it into my animation. Once Ive imported the audio and then exported the animation (sound included), the audio quality drops off. What is the secret to getting the audio to come out crystal clear once you've gone through the import/export process?

I brought some sounds into flash, and added them to my movie. So, I press Control>Play, and it sounds fine. Also, they sound fine in the Library.
But, when I do Control>Test scene, the quality goes down. How come? These are my sound settings:

Hi, i have a question regarding sound qualiity. I made this animations with this song. When the animation plays in the timeline, the sound is really good. When i export the movie, or i watch it, or whatever the sound gets a lot worse. Is there a way to improve the quality of it?

How r u all ? I've emailed my voice to my comp. using my mob. which has MMS. feature but when i play it in flash the sound gets detorted . It's as if an alien is saying " SSSeeEEERRrviiiCEEESSSS" instead of saying "services.Can u help ?

What method plays a music file with the best quality while keeping a reasonable filesize at the same time?

Streaming? Wav? Mp3? Puting it in an MC or using it from an external source?

Hello. This is probably a n00bish question but I'm trying to make my first flash after playing with everything (whee!) and it's going to be themed to music.

Now when I first started off, the sound in test movies was great!

Now, however, when I test the movie, the sound quailty is poor and I cannot find settings to change them back to high.

Can you tell me how to change this? thanks!

Hi, I have 4 different frames in a Movie Clip called "music1." They each include a song clip, they are synced in Stream, soon after, however, I found that set them as streams made the file large, and not good in quality. So I tried event, it worked very very well, the quality is very good, and file is a lot smaller, but, when I tried to use music1.gotoAndPlay("starwars") (4th frame), it doesn't work.

I tried to synced them all in "Start" as well, it doesn't work either, only Stream works, but I don't want the bad quality of Stream, can anyone please please please help me? This is a very serious matter.

I embeded an mp3 into a movie clip, and the source mp3 is professional quality, yet the embedded clip sounds horrible.

Is there a way to toggle any settings when importing a sound clip into the library?

Didn't find any posts on the subject. I currently must set all importted sound quility manually.

Of course I know, or at least i think I know there is no such animal, bt I thought I'd ask just in case someone knew of an umdocmented method to gloally set the quality of sound.

Hi there,

I am about to create an EXE file to distribute on CDROM.
The music that I play (MP3), even though I leave it as original MP3 quality, when I check the .exe file (and also when I do Ctrl-Enter) the quality is a lot worse. Why is that? Can't I keep the CD quality?
After all, as it's not for the web, there is not a size issue.

This is my first time making a movie with music playing in the background... and after looking around a bit, I found out that I need to set the music to streaming in order to keep everything in synch. But I noticed that when I set it to streaming, the quality seems to REALLY drop (thus reducing the file size) but it drops way too low for my liking. I tried to edit the properties of the music in the library but no matter how I set it there, it always seems to be auto-set to some low quality when streaming is put on.

Basically I'm asking if there is a way to set the quality of music when you set it to streaming.

How do I set the publish sound quality for a .exe. I can change for a .swf obviously. Never needed to this before. The settings panel doesnt exist, it has a default of

44kHz Stereo 16 Bit 15.4s 2712.2kB.

When I check it on the frame that the sound is on.
I need this at a better quality.

Okay, I'm making my first cartoon in flash. I'm having an audio problem no matter what editing program I use. So I record my voice in 16-bit, 44100khz and it sounds fine. When I import it into flash (set it to streaming) and test it in the library, it sounds fine...when I play it on the timeline, it sounds fine. BUT, when I actually test my movie, or publish it and play it, the audio gets staticy and hard to understand. Am I doing something wrong? Should I record my voices in a whole new format, like mp3? if i would use mp3, could I still publish my movie on the net?

What Happened To My Sound Quality?
I created a flash "play" button which plays an mp3 in streaming mode. When I play my mp3 inside the flash library it sounds as it should. But when I preview my working buttons (test movie or load the published html page) the quality is quite poor. The depth is gone and it sounds kind of tinny and sharp. I found a couple of sound settings under "publish settings" which I all set to high. Are there other settings I'm missing? How can I get my buttons to play the mp3 the way it's supposed to sound?

Okay, I have two seperate issues here that I'm having with Flash (Studio MX), and I'm hoping you all can possibly help me.

First issue is a quality issue, you see I've taken some stuff that I made in Photoshop, saved them as .png (24) and imported them in Flash, now on the editing stage it all looks great, however when I'm testing the movie, the quality is near terrible. Is there anyway to fix this?

I'm having an odd problem with importing an audio file into the library, when I try to import it, Flash brings up an error message saying that it cannot read the file properly, keep in mind the audio files are a 192 mp3s.

I use a site called sketchcast which I can draw and record little videos with my mic. This is were my problem comes in. I am trying to make a flash mx document hear my sound and come out through my speakers, which it does fine. The problem is the sound quality is terrible, it has echo and i have to be a half an inch away for it to detect the sound and output it via the speakers. Is it my version of flash (flash mx 2004) or is my script not perfect. Can some one please help! If you have solved this problem please post your code!

How To Import Sound And Keep The Same Quality?
Hermm! I'm stuck on this- when I import an mp3 file onto flash, it ends up sounding of really horrible quality on Flash. Is there any way that i can make it sound better, if not any way to improve the sound quality?

Sound Quality Thwarts Me Again
When an imported sound file is played in flash under "stream", It allows the movie to know where it's place is, even if the viewer right clicks, thus freezing the picture of the frame the movie was on. The only issue is that the "stream" option horribly mutilates the sound quality. Insteas of music, you hear a distant scratchy dying animal. When set to "event", It always starts at the right time, but it won't stop for anything (viewer right-clicking).

Is there any way for me to make the movie jump back into place when released from right click, without sacrificing the quality of the music?

I am using Flash MX, and would happily upgrade to 2004 or Professional If it comes with some sort of built in system like this, or disables right click.

If my sound question is impossible, is there anyway to completley disable that right click from stopping my movie? Not just removing the "play", "stop", "quality" options, but getting rid of the right click's effect of freezing the movie and messing thing up. (That right click absolutley slaughters ny flash games, because it allows level skipping.)

I'm getting occasional clicks or pops (like surface noise on an old LP) at specific points in the file. These noises aren't in the original sound files, and they're not heard when the sounds are played in the timeline; they're only heard in the complied SWF file, and always at the same locations, however many times the file is recomplied, for example on the fifth screen from the beginning, the one labeled "Perfect Fifth," the first time that two pitches are sounded simultaneously. Changing the bit-rate for the sounds in the Sound Properties has no effect. This project is about musical intervals, so if the sound quality is not good, the whole thing is worthless.

Any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated.

We have imported a high quality MP3 into a Flash movie.

As soon as we have imported it and played the movie the track sounds poor quality.

The MP3 sounds perfect.

Is this just the way it is with flash or is there a better way?

Sound Quality Problem - Possible Flash Bug?
I have around 20+ sound files that I've imported into Flash. I've applied the same exact MP3 compression settings to all of them. All of them have been set to "stream" since these are voice-overs that follow a script.

My problem is that the last 3 sound files in my presentation sound like the compression was set to a lesser quality when in reality they're set exactly like every other voice-over sound in the Flash movie, and when I "test" them within the sound properties, they sound fine.

I've also checked the publish properties and they look fine.(Everything is set to MP3, 24 kbps, Mono....for stream and 32 kbps for event sounds). Override Sound Settings is unchecked.

Just for testing sake, I changed one of the voice-over sound files to "event". I then published the whole movie, and sure enough it sounded like all the other (24 kbps MP3). What's going on?

The only other sound I have is a looping event sound that runs throughout the entire movie.

Is this some kind of bug in Flash that's causing this problem. I can't seem to figure it out.

How can I retain the quality of sound in a flash? I have tried making the file into a wav file (from a mp3, which i thought that maybe that was the reason why) but the sound quality is still far from good. Any help woudld be appreciated.
