Flash W/ Embedded Quicktimes Ripping
Hey guys, im working on video for a client with a vendor that does lots of flash and we're having a problem with movies when they play back on a PC. this is going to be used from a data DVD that people will put in their PCs or macs, although the problem with the video seems to be PC only. the quicktime videos (rendered at 1280x720 24p) have horizontal rips that occur in strange places when the flash app is playing back. heres and example

Ripping Other Sources.
a question for the community.

everyone knows that it is possible to rip other movies (swf decompliers).

developers that worked hard on there projects can today be ripped
as a click of a mouse.

as a developer, this bugs me alot.

i have 2 questions:

1. is it possible at all to prevent the ripping by some kind of encription or other methods.

2. because of this problem, i considering going back to
java programing, where the code is realy compiled and secured.

is java secured or can also be ripped?

Ripping Sprites
I am currently working on an animation involving video game sprites. I was wondering if anyone here new how to rip them from roms with out printing the screen and editing in flash. Is there a way to hack in and get them via the game engine. I am currently using zsnes. This is a little off of the topic of Flash however I figured that someone here would know because sprite rips and Flash animation go hand in hand. Thanks

Hello, I have been on a few sites that have an advertisement look like it tears through the page. I know one site was the weather.com site but they aren't doing it now. I forget what the other sites are. Does anyone know of any sites that have this effect and if there is a tutorial for this anywhere.

Stop SWF Ripping
I have a SWF file that I want to put onto my website but I don't want others to be able to take the SWF and use it on other websites.

Is it possible to only have the SWF play if on a serton domain or could I make some of the Action script Dynamic so it loads from a txt file so with out the txt file the SWF don't play!!!!

I've a made a website with flash. Now I want that a txt-file appears on it, so that the text on my site automatically changes when I change the txt-file (whitout publishing whole the time). Is there a script to do this? If there is one, which?

I'm an extreme beginner to AS2.0 and any scripting for that matter. I was wondering if there was somewhere I could download the src file for a full fledged flash site. I think that would really help with this because I'm not getting anywhere. Pre-Thx for any replies.

Page Ripping Effect
I would like to create a paper ripping effect for a web site. I have a before image of the full piece of paper and an after image of the paper completely torn. Ripping SWFs For Print
Hey all,
Im wondering if anyone has a solution for ripping SWFs for print. Extracting vector art created at runtime.
I used to ctrl click the swf >>print>>save as postscript
This used to work for me on my old PowerBook, but now that I have new Intel MacBook Pro (running flash player 10 beta),
it no longer works and I get a blank pdf.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Well I have made a little swf file for my site which is basically a text with a repeating effect, using the software SwishMax, and now I'm wondering how to import it to say a certain section of a page on my site.

Downloading A Zip File From A Flash Site In IE

Have created a screen saver and want people to download it from my flash site. Have turned my screen saver .exe into a .zip and uploaded it to my webspace. Have made a button on my flash site and inserted the action script...

The file seems to download ok on mac (safari,firefox) and pc (firefox) but does not on internet explorer... Any ideas anyone??? Should the action script need tweeking?

I have a flash video that I only want loaded once per user, and then have it loaded again every other day. So basically, the first time they come to my site, they will see the flash video, but they won't see it again unless they visit 2 days later. I use flash 8, is there a code I need to enter in the actionscript?

Flash HTML File On Site
I created a flash document and published it as an HTML file, as well as a .swf. I uploaded it on my site, as a /flashfile.html. But, when you view the page, the screen is blank, and when you right-click where the movie is, it says "Movie not loaded..."

I've waited at least an hour for a 10kb HTML file, and tried to make the file smaller, so I made a small 2kb static flash movie, and it said the same.

How can I make the flash video show?

Netstream, The Debugger, And Ripping Your Hair Out

All of the site's content is built from an XML file at runtime, I'll build a backend for her once it's finished, and this project has taken me way beyond my previous actionscript skills. I'm a bit lost in the woods. So when I started going insane trying to dynamically load video into a video object nested inside a movieclip created at runtime, I figured the reason it wasn't working was my own lack of knowledge. I'm loading it in with a function:

The video wouldn't play, and the traces inside the onStatus didn't show up. I was about to scream, I opened the debugger and ran the movie. Lo and behold. Everything !@#?ing worked. WTF!!!!
I only tested locally, I didn't upload the "having video" version while I was trying to get it to work, because I figured I should get it working locally first, I'm uploading now to see if I get better results that way. If anyone has any idea why I'm experiencing this behavior, lay it on me, I'd love to know. And yes, I deleted the ASO files a few times. I'm going to go laugh maniacally and bark at the moon now.

Best Method/software For Ripping Video To Pc

I have started tinkering about with video of which is have just been downloading off the net.
Now i have started to experiment with video from my camcorder. i noticed when ripping from the camcorder a 3 min ripp can take upto a 1gig in HD space Is there a better method for ripping or is there software that compress's whilst ripping?

Ripping Online Radio Songs
Hi there,
I guess what ever I am going to ask you guys is bit confusing, any way here is my question.
Recently I have visited a web site where they upload latest songs but it is in real player format (.rm),
When I click the link it open in java script window, in which there is a java script player which plays (.rm format file) the song online itself. Its like internet radio.
Now I want to download the song and save it my PC but unfortunately I don’t know from which directory the song is playing from? Is there is any way to download the song? Or find out from which directory of the website the songs are playing from?

Strange Echoing In Mp3 File On My Flash Site
it only happens once you enter my site. the small clip i have playing in my flash intro will echo sort of like the music starts plays for 1 second and keeps playing but after 1 second it plays again. i know i don't have 2 instances of the song playing coz when you refresh the page it doesn't echo anymore.

im completely new to flash. with a lot of trouble just made my first layout. trouble is i have a blog that i want to include in my site. how can i import an html file into a flash page. and i think it has to be an html file, as opposed to a text file, because i often have pics on my blog. plus using blogger lets me add comments to blogs. any suggestions?

Updating Site Without Modifying Flash File
I am designing a flash site and I would like to know if there is a way to update a flash site without modifying the flash file and re-uploading it every time. Problems With Txt File Html In Flash Site.
Hello!  I'm working on my band's new website and have been searching many hours for answers to some problems I'm having with txt files referenced as HTML in Flash.

Our site is http://moumusic.com.

One of the problems is having an image as a link.  For instance, I have a photo and try to link a website to it:

It works when loaded as an HTML file, but not when viewed in the Flash site.  The text file for this is at http://moumusic.com/moualbum.txt.  The page comes up when you click the "MoU's First CD" link on moumusic.com.

Next, I can't link to external media files.  For instance, I tried inserting the code: <a href="http://fusco-moore.com/videos/SongforCliff-2.wmv">Song for Cliff Video Part 2</a>.  You can click the text (while viewing it as part of the Flash site), but nothing happens.  You can even copy the shortcut, but you can't use the link properly.

Last, I want to put a PayPal Buy It Now button on one of the pages.  The link is pretty long: <a href="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick&business=producer%40wcjm%2ecom&item_name=%22Masters%20of%20the%20Universe%22%20CD%20by%20MoU&amount=10%2e00&no_shipping=2&no_note=1&currency_code=USD&lc=US&bn=PP%2dBuyNowBF&charset=UTF%2d8">Buy Now!</a>.  I heard that there's a 128 character limit for links in Flash.  Is there any way around this?

What about forms?  PayPal has the option of doing a form for a shopping cart.  Flash won't even begin to recognize it when I just drop the form code in there.

Acceptable File Size For A Flash Site

Hope your all well.

I'm in the process of finishing my first full flash website.

Should be going live on the 1st of august.

Anyway I’ve been fortunate enough to be doing this as paid work for a big company (my university).

There very happy with what iv got so far although there's still some work left to do over the next few days including some extra image and video compression.

The site is currently 4.4mb and the user sits watching a preloader bar while this is loaded. (I’m sure I can get this lower to maybe 3.5mb without changing anything big).

I also have 4.5 MB of images that are loaded in externally on the 8 image galleries (the images range from 40-80kb each)

The site contains 10 big 955 by 570 jpeg images that are the full screen backgrounds for the 10 different pages on the site.

There’s about 600kb of embedded video.

There is also 2 big 3000 by 2000 pixel jpeg images which are used for interactive maps, these are currently embedded in the file but I'm thinking one option is to have another pre-loader for the maps when the user gets to them to break up loading time.

Anyway my question is about loading time and file size.
I’m sorry it’s a bit vague but I wanted to know when to worry that the site is too big
and if it’s a good idea to break up loading time by having separate pre-loader’s for the maps on the site.

I know file loading time requirements often depend but id really like to get a general idea of what professionals aim for and what you would advise for this project?

Problems Downloading .wmv Or Any Other File From My Flash Site
I am having problems with downloading .wmv movie files from my flash site.
I am using the code:

This works ok but when you click on either 'save or open' a blank html winodw stays open in the background over the top of my original flash movie. Is there a way of stopping this so only the small download window opens.

Can anyone please tell me how to log each link click in the flash site menu, and save the value concurrently in a text file numerically.

Text file :

For example each click for Features would maintain log in a text file Features = 20 clicks.
Each click for Specs would maintain log in a text file Specs = 22 clicks.

Flash File On Web Server, Looks Flatter Than Site Locally
When I view my flash file on a live web server, the photos and colors look much flatter than when I view the files locally. same browser, same html file, same everything.

is there a loss of quality from a web server in a flash file? i've never seen, or maybe just haven't noticed it before.

i'm on a mac. haven't tested in windows yet to see if there is a difference.

Load Movie, And Path Question -- Ripping My Hair Out --
Ok, so I have flash move (A) lets call it "home.swf".

Then I have flash movie (B) lets call that "nav.swf"

And finally we have flash movie ( C) lets call that "content.swf"

Now lets say movie A lives in the root folder for my site.

And movies B and C live in their own folder lets call that folder "comp".

So I call move B from my "comp" folder and load it on level 02 of my main movie.

Now I want to load movie C onto level 03 from my "comp" folder.

Here is the problem:

This is the path I have to use when doing so:

comp/content.swf

Shouldn’t since file B and C live in the same folder I wouldn’t have to put the "comp" at the beginning of the path. Or is it using home.swf as the main file, so anything loaded on top must use the "home" files path.

If I was just dealing with three files I wouldn’t separate them with folders, however I am dealing with about 50 so I will need to organize my files with folders. I am also trying to template my swf files and If I can create a path that doesn’t have to go out then back in again I can just throw in a few new images and boom, a whole new artist page without all the tedious work.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated and If I can return the favor I will do my best, thanks
