Rotating Image



I basically want to create a simple rotating image in flash. I know it is easy, but cannot find step by step instructions anywhere on how to do this. I am using Flax MX. Thanks for any help at all.

Aight, I dont know if this has been covered or not, Im just to tired/lazy/unmotivated to use the Search so Ima ask and wait and watch tv

Anyways, if you goto http://www.team5150.com/ into their main index.shtml after their intro, in the top left, youll see something rotating around a circle, non-stop. Its blue, shouldnt be hard to see.. Anyone know how to do this? I know you do Lost :o

Rotating An Image

Rotating An Image

I woul like to create an imge that rotates clockwise.I have a large round picture of clouds and would like to let them rotate completly 360° around.I know its possible with tweening but i have heard that there is also a solution using actionscript?

Rotating And Image And Buttons
I have done it again. Gotten in too deep for my own good. I have a "home" page with a circle with five
buttons on it. I want the circle to rotate with the buttons
so when you click the button of choice it will end up on the top of the circle and "open" information to the right of the circle. I understand tell target and can do minimal
actionscripting.

Rotating And Zoom In / Out Of An Image
I'm looking for a tutorial / resource that will help me learn to do the following:

I want to be able to take an image object and have the user be able to rotate the image 360 degrees ... stopping at any point ... interactively. Also, the user to be able to zoom in and zoom out of this image at whatever point the image is rotated at ... interactively.

Rotating Image Scroller
attached is a fla file i'm having trouble figuring out.

there are 2 parts: an image viewer and a rotating crank handle.

i want to be able to rotate the crank to scroll through the images.

clockwise=forward
counterclockwise=backwards
i want to get rid of the arrow buttons on the image viewer so you only control scrolling with the crank.

the crank turns etc when you click and drag, the viewer works by itself, how can i get them to work together?

Rotating An Image On Mouse Over
I want to rotate an image of a volume knob to a text button when a user places his/her mouse over the text button. There are going to be about 4 text buttons surrounding the left side of the knob. I want the knob to rotate to whatever text button the user mouses over. How do I do it? I am a novice at this so I need the procedure to be in basic layman's terms! I've added an image so you can better understand what I mean. It's just an image... no attempt at making the .swf file.

Rotating Image Gone Wrong?
Hello there.

I'm currently in the midst of creating a flash site. However, as part of my site I have incorporated an arm from a turntable. Basically, what I am trying to achieve is the arm coming across and playing a record. I have cut the tonearm into 3 images, a base image, the tonearm and a top image. The base and the top are static images of above and below the arm that will not move. But the arm itself I need to rotate about 20 degrees from a selected pivot point and heres were my problem begins.

At the moment I can only get it to rotate 360 degrees... as well as the fact that it rotates from the top of the image... i.e. looks very stupid and TOTALLY not what I want.

If anyone could be kind enough to break a method down to me of how I would go about doing this it would be greatly appreciated.

Please be very specific, cuz I am a n00b after all

Can someone take a look at the examples on this page and tell me how I can create this effect with the Image I have on my Stage?

Some of the Images rotate with RollOver method however I would like to either use MouseDrag or a Slider. Please keep in mind, I'm not a Math Genius so giving me scripts that look like pages of Calculus Equations just give me a headache.

Rotating Image With Reflections
A few years back I bought a manual for Director 6.0. In the back of the manual there was a demo disc showing some samples of other people's work. One of the samples was called Big Top. It was a totating logo in shinny gold, and as it rotated, you would see reflections of objects and light on the surface. At one Time I asked how it was done, and was told that an ap called RayDream Designer could do it. I was told that in that ap, you could draw a 3D room, with the four walls, floor and ceiling, and when you placed an object in the center of the room and rotated it, you would end up with a rotating image with the reflection from the walls. I never tried it, and long ago RayDream Designer stopped being supported. Recently, I was told that the same thing could be done with Photoshop or Flash, but I have not figured out how it is done. What I want to do, is create a 3D image of a logo in gold, chrome, or somethign reflective, and have it rotate with the reflections as it rotates. I have seen similar thing on TV commercials, but I think I need a little help on figuring out how this is done.

Ok, so I made an image in Photoshop. Then I imported it in Flash (MX), but the image is screwed after I rotate it (72 degrees). I tried to import PNG (transparent), BMP and JPG, but for all three the same ugly result.

Image Is Distorting While Rotating :(
HI Ultrashock,

Can you please help me with my problem? Somewhy, when I do some image rotations while animating, my images are distorting... Currently I'm using Flash MX, be cause I don't like ActiveX issue with IE 6...

I Know how to fix this problem in Flash 8+. I Just have to enable Image Smooth in Library. But how to do this in Flash MX? Image smooth works fine for first frame, but if I add another frame, everything is distorted

Can someone solve it for flash MX? Or how to sole ActiveX troudle with Flash +8 in IE?

Drag And Stop Rotating Image
Hi there!

I've created a panoramaimage, that is dragable, sort of like Photovista or Quicktime VR (or http://www.soh.nsw.gov.au).
My problem now is, how to stop the rotation when I move the cursor outsite the image. The image is 400*300 and my entire swf-size is 800*600.
There is already buttons on the rotating picture, so I can't put a large invisible button on

making a wireframe cube that can rotate is pretty easy.
but how do you do it if i want the cube's sides to be jpeg images?

Got A 3D Rotating Image...problems Going To Frame
I got a 3D rotating image in a movieclip called "clip"

I have a button on the main stage that says

Rotating Image When Mouse Pressed.
Good evening everyone,

The following are the list of effects that I wanted to achieve:

- By clicking on an image and moving the mouse up or down enables the image to rotate.
- The image is stationed in one position, so it does not move other than the rotation.

The following are the list of steps that caused a problem that I encountered.

1) Click on the image
2) Move the mouse out of the image area while pressing.
3) Release the button
4) Move back into the image area.

The result is that the image will still rotate even though the button has been released. The problem is because the "Release" event occurred when it was outside the image, the script will consider that the image is still being "Pressed".

Is there a solution to how I can make the stop rotating even when the mouse is outside the image area? Your help is much appreciated.

I have attached the files for this case.

Rotating Image Header With < 1 2 3 > Navigation
Hi there-

I am trying to create a rotating image header like the one on Dell.com where there is navigation for the varios image slides such as < 1 2 3 >. Creating the linear timeline is no problem for me (one image statically fades into the next on the timeline) - my issue is that I don't know how to make it so that the fade between images is dynamic, ie, that the user jumps around using the <1 2 3 > navigation, and whatever slide the user is on fades into the one they clicked on, which I am figuring is somehow dynamically set with AS (I have only basic AS and XML skills). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know how to ducktape this to work within a really long timeline, but I'd like to make it as efficient as possible. Thanks in advance!

Image Gallery Rotating In 3D Space
Hi everyone,

I am designing an image gallery to show project screenshots for a portfolio. The horizontally scrolling screenshots technique is nice, but I want to do something similar in 3D space.

When the user clicks on the screenshot buttons for the selected project, I want the appropriate image to rotate around an imaginary center, increase in scale, and fade in to full opacity.

At the same time, the other images need to rotate around the same center point and scale down while the alpha decreases. The Screenshot furthest away from the viewer would have the smallest size and lowest alpha setting.

Here's a couple things that might throw a wrench into the works. I need to keep all the images facing forward (instead of rotating as if they were on a cyllinder). Also, not all of my projects have the same number of screenshots. Can I do all this with actionscript?

I've attatched a sample of what the gallery should look like.

Rotating A Dynamically-loaded Image
Will someone please tell me how to rotate about the center an image loaded dynamically through AS? I've already asked this question, no one answered, I searched, searched some more, looked through my fairly voluminous collection of example flas and have come up with nothing.

The following code does rotate a mc about its center, but only (apparently) if the mc contains something when the swf loads. I'd really appreciate some help here.

Flipping/Rotating An Image Vertically
I can obviously rotate say text or an image with the rotate tool, but how do I flip something like backwards into the screen, or around in a cirle both in the "3d" direction.

Problem With Rotating Image, Please Read
Hi there,

Here's my issue...I've been trying to create a portfolio control which is a disc that rotates in the middle of screen. I am using one single graphic and reproduced it on the stage for each rotation. What I've noticed though is that each time I placed the graphic on stage, no matter what, when the graphic is rotated beyond any 90 degree angle it becomes VERY jagged and ugly.

Is there something I'm missing? I've created the graphic in photoshop and it looks fine. However Flash is reproducing the angled graphics without any form of anti-aliasing. I'm not sure what the issue is... has anyone else had this issue?

Rotating Image Help Desperately Needed
Hi People ~

This is my 1st Post in this Forum. I've been a Member of other Flash Forums and I'm getting tired of Posting and getting absolutely no help or even acknowledgment but yet my Post have multiple Views.

With the problem I have now, there are actually 31 Views and yet not one of them have given me even a blip of what I can do to solve this or where I can read about it ...

I am trying to Rotate an Image by either a Slider or Mouse Drag.

I am using Flash 8 Professional. I have a slightly more than Novice understanding of Flash. A Simple Scripting Question - Rotating An Image
I am trying to rotate an image and I have this script that works fine in flash but when I export the swf file it no longer seems to work. Here it is:

frame 1: r = 0;

frame 2: setProperty ("thing", _rotation, r);
r = r+7;

[F8] Loading Next Image Of Rotating Banner If Loaded
Hi.

I have a very simple coding issue, I just don't know how to code it:

I have a movie clip called pictures_mc. This movie clip has, say, 5 frames, each frame calls for a banner image to load.

On the main timeline I have a 90 frame cycle where at frame 90 I have an action script that basically says the following:

If the next image in pictures_mc has loaded play the next frame and then gotoAndPlay (1);

The idea is to create a rotating banner that every 3 seconds rotates.

So if frome 2's image has loaded but not frame 3, then repeat by playing image one, than image two and keep cycling till image 3 has loaded then ask if image 4 has loaded than play 4 else repeat a cycle of image 1, 2, 3, until image 4 has loadeded, etc... finally if image five has loaded then it can just cycle 1, 2, 3, 4,5, 1, 2, 3, 4,5 ....

However as I need at least the first frame of the rotating banner to appear fast. if each image is 50kb in size and then the total banner size is 250kb in size. on a 56.6 dial-up I cannot wait for the entire sequence to load the banner will take too ong to load as a whole so I need progressive loading of the banner.

I know that this is an easy request, I just don't have the skillset to write it. Any help is appreciated.

Createing A Quad Image With Rotating Images..
Here's what I'm trying to mimic..

Now, I know how to do the mouseovers to change colors and to tweens to cause dropdowns, etc...but what I"m having problem is mimicing the fading quad images.

I found this example, and it works fine for a single movie clip, but I've been unable to cause it to do 2 or more movies at same time.

Drawing An Image Centrally Whilst Rotating And Scaling
Hi everyone,

This is my first post here; just trying to make the awkward transition from J2ME and C++ to AS 3.0! Things aren't going too badly so far, but I've stumbled across a problem with drawing a rotated image centrally whilst scaling it. I found that you can draw an image centrally by doing this:

target.x = -(width >> 1);
target.y = -(height >> 1);

...but if I scale and rotate the image then it doesn't get draw centred around target_x, target_y. I'm guessing this is where I'm going wrong:

target.x = target_x - (target.width >> 1);
target.y = target_y - (target.height >> 1);

I've copied and pasted the entire code below - any advice would be great, thanks for your time!

Rotating Boxes-non-rotating Box/text
i have a rotating menu(boxes in circular motion). when a box is rolled over, all stop, but the text box that should appear in the middle between them, is not appearing where it should. it seems to be following the animation of its parent box.....any ideas?

Rotating Menu With Non-Rotating Labels
I have a rotating menu that sets the selected button to the 3:00 position once clicked. I need the labels for the buttons to stay in the upright position as they rotate with the button. I have created a circle and I want it to continuously rotate. I have received many suggestions about what to include in the actionscript, but none of the suggestions have worked. I am a newbie when it comes to flash, but I am completely clueless when it comes to actionscripting. If someone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

The object is the outline of a circle. Here is the actionscript I have so far.

I have been asked to create a rotating JPG image that pulls the filenames from a configuration file or that can pull the image filenames from a directory. This way, the images can be changed without updating the Flash file. Any suggestions?

Help Me With Rotating
I have imported a PNG as an object. And I want to rotate it.
Now if i play it in Flash MX it looks fine and smooth, but if i play it externally (Ctrl+Enter) it looks awful! the animation speed is alrigt, but the quality of the rotation sucks - it's very blocky.
it looks very nice in MX but outside the resampling sucks. any ideas? - is there an option i need to turn on?
