HI ALL.
Does anyone know how to do a slider menu that rotates around the corner point instead of just sliding down vertically or horizontally?
I got one from this site that was using actionscript that made the menu slide down to an X position and back up again. With some tweaking I got it to go to the Y axis too, and also with a mixture of the codes got it to go diagonally too.( Not Dia Gon Alley, from Harry potter )

Another thing... I am after making a link from the flash file to an external website. This is , as you all know, very easy. But does anyone know how to do it so that it logs you in to the website, if the website needs User Name and Password.?

360 Rotation Using A Slider
I am new to Flash. I want to create a 360-degree rotation of a product. I have my product photos (a total of 18 separate shots, taken at 20-degree increments) and I've designed slider and pointer graphics. I can't figure out the relationship between the rotation and the slider graphics. I can do a full 360 rotating MC, but I can't control it.

Once there, click on "A Brief Introduction to Torque"
When loaded (or you can click Skip), click on "Showroom"
Choose any motorcycle

This is just one example of many I have seen on the internet, and it's exactly what I'm trying to accomplish.

Any suggestions on how to get me going in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I found how to make slider smaller or bigger in this forum but I don't know what wrong of my buttons. The width of the slider is not same as all buttons. It looks smaller and on the right more.

Actually, I would like to make the same slider menu at <A href="http://www.grouplotus.com/grp/">http://www.grouplotus.com/grp/. Their buttons can change color even mouse out. Could you or someone else can teach me how to do that?

i tried to HELP myself and i think it's good start . it's very easy for all kirupians but it's good for me because i know a lot of AS but it's my first time to think and write by myself... anyway .
i'm trying to control MC properties by slider (rotation - width-height.... ). i did all i know but i couldn't .
i don't know where is the wrong and why i can't resize the test mc which can load by click in ObjectOne. and why i can't drag test mc .

Slider Wont Work For My Menu Slider
i tried following this tut on a menu slider http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx20...th_slider2.htm, but I cant seem to get the slider to work, whenever I test the movie the slider just slides to the left corner and than doesnt move after that. anyone know what is going on or have any advice??

How To Add Drop Down Menu To This Slider Menu
Hi All,

I need to add a drop down menu to the main menu button called "galleries".

The menu came from one of the awesome kirupa tutorials here, and below is a link to my existing menu w slider:

When I try to add a popup menu to "galleries" to the over state in galleries, the popup menu dissappears when you rollover the first item.

Infinite Menu And Menu With Slider
Hello flashers, i got two questions, if anyone could help me please, i tried to do the infinite menu tutorial and it works, but it results that mine is in a movie that is loaded into another one, and i dont know how to make it recognize the movement of the cursor only in the loaded movie area, and stop working if i go over the root movie. what do i have to define the active area. Well thats one, the other is that i tried to do the menu with slider tutorial, it work great, but how can i make it so that when a movie loaded with one of that buttons, is loaded, the slider stays below that button, that if i go over other button, it slides to it, but on a rollout, gets back to the button corresponding to the movie loaded. I hope i made myself clear enough, i will greatly accept any idea. on that second one, i tried to do the if frame loaded, so that it veryfies if one of the loaded movies is there, and then use a on rollout, but i frankly dont know. And if someone could give me the name of a good book to learn actionscript from scratch, i am a graphic designer, know a lot about photoshop and other tools, but i want to learn flash, and some programing. well thats it for this first message. thanks

I've downloaded the sourcefile for a standard menu slider. How do I now include the ability for it to have drop down sub-categories under each menu heading?

Help On Rotation Menu
using MX here-

Hey i have a MC called rotator.. its a one frame MC that has ring with 8 nested buttons in the clip. you can see what i mean on www.toddbeaz.com

my problem i want it to rotate at a decent rate with actionscript.
the buttons go to/play other sections of the site but i also want them so the ring menu SLOWS DOWN to a stop on rollOVER. im pretty sure you just apply the actions to the MC and leave the buttons alone.

Menu Rotation
I am trying to set up a menu rotating. When you click on a button the movie clip rotates that button the the 90º position. I want the movie clip to rotate clock wise. It works fine with numbers smaller than 180, whenever I use a number larger that 180 the movie clip continues to rotate instead of stopping after reaching the set position. Anyone have some advise for me.

Help needed... I want to make a navigation where you can grab a graphic or movie-clip, then slide (y) the object to menu1, menu2, menu3... and depending on where you release the mousebutton you are taken to a new scene or frame...

Perhaps its easier to understand if I tell you the navigation has to work like the rpm-slider on a turntable.

...and i've founded this, which works with the startDrag function:

but i cannot make the slider to stop and bounce on x/y coordenates, so the buttons dont scroll infintely up or down, and stop the scrolling when the mouse cursor is off the parameters i want.

does anybody knows how to do this? im mostly a designer and animator, so i dont really know much about actionscript. i'll be glad to repay any help with my design / animation / 3d skills!

Hello All,
Firstly like to say what a great site you have here, really useful. Learnt a lot.

What I am trying to do is to make a menu that has a slider come down. I can do that but how do I make it gradually come down, instead of mouse over next second its there, I wanna do it so that when the mouse goes over it starts to grow from nowhere and within 10-20 frames its then there.
I am probably being stupid but just can't get it to do it, without looking rubbish. I.E having the menu hidden and then moviing down, just looks wrong.

[CS3] Slider Menu ?
I'm working on a project that involves a dragable slider image. I have the slider working but I want to play a movie clip when it is dragged to a specific location. I have 4 mc that I want to pop up and play when the slider is dragged
to the corresponding name. Maybe using the X Y coordinates. I'm really new to using flash so any help is really appreciated. Also this project has to be setup following some guidelines. The guidelines I got from the client are below.

Do not call the _root! Make all your actionscripts relative.
ActionScript 2.0
Flash Player 7
My personal preference is that your movie be in one movie clip placed on the main timeline. This way we can quickly resize the Flash if needed.

I now want to replace the ordinary buttons with a movieclipbuttons to get an rollouteffect which I can´t get with ordinary buttons. However when I replace the ordinary buttons with my mcbuttons and change the script, the slider stops working.

What should I do to get the slider menu working with mcbuttons?

(what I want to do is, since I have my slider running under the buttons is to have two different colors of the buttons text: on color for up stage and one for rollover and the rollout)

Ive done the tutorial flash2004 MX > menu with slider. And I made it work!

Now in the tutorial I made a horizontal slider, and it worked, now I want to make a Vertical slider and menu of course. (So I did) But it wont work, Since im new to flash all i did was to change all the X into Y.

Anyone who knows how its supposed to be done? How can explain it to me in a gentle newbee fashion? That would be awsome

Menu Slider? HELP
I am making a menu and wish to have a slider. I want the slider however to be an object that frames a letter. The slider tutorial shown at http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx20...ith_slider.htm
is close however the slider goes to the center of each button. How do I get the slider to move at a different scale and in a different location coresponding with that text instead of the center of each button that I run the mouse over???

Hi every1. I not so good at as so I got a problem. I have done the "menu with slider" tutorial but now my movie is built up in a other way. I have now a movie clip with 2 other movieclips. In those two movieclips I have one button each. Now I want these two buttons to make the slider slide. Look at the drawing to understand better. And I have a Next and a Prev button and 6 images. How can I make the slider go back, foward and when i'm at nr 6 image, pressing foward, nr 1 image comes, the slider go back to nr 1. The image slide is allready done. Hope I have make myself clear on this.

1. change the object's bg when the user click the menu. (eg click the 'product' button ). I've created the 'mouse down' event in each button, but It doesn't work. and how to send the link.

Menu With Slider Using MCs - Help Please...
Hi everyone, this is my first post. I am a beginner on Flash and actionscript working on a website for our company. I have done the tutorial "Menu with Slider" and it worked fine. I had changed the buttons into movie clips and now it doesn't seem to work. Is there a way to edit the code to work with movieclips?

I wanted the arrow to slide to the next button when the mouse rolls over it. I have set up the _up, _over, and _hit frames with labels and they work fine. The movie clip buttons go to different scenes - that I have not yet completed. Problem is when you click on the movieclip button it goes straight to the scene and doesn't have the arrow slide first. It just sits next to the home button. I wanted to keep the "buttons" as movieclips. So I can have them fade in or be masked in. I have not done that part. I am not sure if I am being clear.

I have had about 4 days of class and have been crash coursing the rest of it on my own. I have looked over all the threads on menus, buttons, movieclips and sliders. They don't seem to fix what I am trying to accomplish. I really would appreciate any help that anyone could provide. I am stumped and wonder if I am just missing a small thing or is it bigger.

Hello, everyone!

I'm new to this forum, to AS and everything. I have a short question:

I made menu with slider like in tutorial on kirupa.com and everything is ok. But how to change the width of the slider if the buttons don't have the same size? I know how to do it, but how to do it animated. Example: button1 is 150px wide (and slider also), button2 is 110 px wide - how to make slider (when sliding from button1 to button2) smaller (animated).

I created one flash slider menu with reference of kirupa's slider menu tutorial. it is working fine.
But problem is it is always moving, I don’t want to the move continues.
I am going to put two buttons in two sides. Whenever I click the button then only the slider should move. Herewith I have attached the fla file. can any one tell me where should I change the script.

Thnx to the great tutorial on kirupa.com I was able to create a menu with slide function I was longing to make for a long time now. Everything seemed to work, but when I publish my .fla the links within the buttons stop working. The strange thing is that when I test the movie (ctrl+enter) within flash, the links do work! I'm guessing something goes wrong publishing the file, but I don't know what...

I have added a slider menu to my flash site but when you move from one button to another button the slider lines up with the left side of the button. Is there any way to get the slider to line up with the center of the button? I have attached my .fla if anyone could please take a look at it.

Great script, but i have a bunch of preload before I want my menu to work and when I add a stop action to the scene the slider won't work. Is there a way around this or where can the stop action go so I can still use preloading in my movie?

Hi, I used the menu with slider tutorial and slightly modified it, where do I put the get URL so that I can link the buttons to pages? I tried putting:

but then obviously the page opens on rollover but i want it to work on release for all my buttons?

I've followed Bryan Arciniega's tutorial "Menu with Slider" (http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx20...ith_slider.htm) and it works perfectly!

I adapted it so that it slides on the y-axis instead of the x-axis.

But now my question is: how do I adjust the alignment of the "slider" movieclip to the the buttons?
