How can Flash MX run a new windows installer (.msi) file?
I`ve used the fscommand to run (exec) .exe`s without hassle
it`s just that most new windows installers have a .msi file extension. Please help

Running A .bat File In MX With Fscommand
I am having trouble running a .bat file using MX. It works fine for me using version 5 with the fscommand, but no go with MX, has something changed?

Code:

on (release) {fscommand("exec", "presentation1.bat");
}

This code works fine in version 5, but nothing happens in MX. Is there a new or different way to run a .bat file using MX?

Problems Running .bat Files Using Fscommand()
Hi there all im having a few problems with running a batch file from flash .swf file.

Im using ;

on(release){
fscommand("exec","copy.bat")
}

the folder location of the flash file is;

n:flashPB.swf

and the location of the .bat file is;

n:flashfscommandcopy.bat

but when i run the .swf file and click the nutton nothing happens.

The .bat file works fine if i click it but the .swf file as it stands will not run the .bat file

How Do You Get Pdf Fscommand Script Into Fscommand
I'm trying to link to a pdf file. I have viewed others messages about creating a .dat file, but it mentions about making sure this is in the fscommand folder. Please can someone detail how this complete process should be done?

If this wont work on a Mac, then that leaves me with the GetUrl command only. As I want this to be a CD Rom not web page I need to link to the html pages offline (if this is my only option) and I have a projector file, where should these htm files be?

Running SWF As EXE
Hello,
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have currently an interactive course in flash.
The folder contains a setup.exe file, autorun.inf file, and a sulfolder that contains all the modules (.swf) files. The only way to run it is to load the setup.exe file locally.
What I'd like to do is to integrate this into a webpage. Given the .exe file, I don't know if it's possible to change the whole system. Is there a way to do this?

[F8] Help Running For()
Basically I am trying to run a for() within a for(). The idea is to replicate the same data twice. The first time the for() runs it places instances of a movieclip onto the stage. The second time that it runs the for() it should start at the end position of the first for().

The end result should be that there is a horizontal row of movieclip instances next to each other and not placed onto of each other as they currently are.

Running One .exe Within Another
Hi,

I have to create an interactive CD, I normally do this in Director but for several reason, I thought I would give it ago in Flash MX. I have been supplied source files to be included on the CD, part of the content has already been created by another agency and exists as a flash .exe which links to external .swf files within its own directory. In the past I have created websites that load external .swf's via an empty movie holder but can this same trick work with a .exe? I'm trying to get hold of the source files so I can create a .swf rather than an .exe as I know flash is happy to link to them, although I've never loaded a swf in to an empty movie holder that then calls on other swf files, is this possible? I assume it is!

Need I do anything special with a Flash 8 swf to get it to run?

I have used the random function inn order to simulate the race , but the required mechanism expects the server to decide the arrival chart. I have to make everything "real" ; for example one of th horses might stay back and at a certain point, make up ground and win. I tried to do but i really can't, and i don't know who might be able to help me, i hope ypu will help otherwise..... i don't know what will occur to me

Running Problem
Well I have a problem with running a halloween card that I made for halloween. Its over now, I know, its just I want to know what I should do better next time. So anyway here:

Ok so I made a halloween card and I made a preloader that said something like this:

pretty simple... anyway then I would run it and it would run fine on my computer so I posted it on the net for all my freinds to see and sent them the address. So then when they opened it, almost everyone on a 56k modem the car wouldd stop right at this one scene... a scene with a house and that made me mad because a ghost is supposed to fly in and start talking to you... anyway I think it may be a problem with the size or maybe the framerate (25fps). Here is the url try it and if it does the same thing and you know why please tell me... and even if it doesnt (because you get lucky or you have fast comp and connection) tell me anyway if you know the answer to my problem.

Running Projector From CDs
Greetings,
I have created a small piece which contains a Flash (5) splash screen with a button. That button links to a .pdf file. I have tested this from my hard drive and my company's server. What I need to know is how do I get this to run from a CD? (I have the autorun code working just fine. I just can't make the .pdf link up properly...) When I set it up on my hard drive and the server, the code for making it work was similar to this: "\MyWorkServerFolder1Folder2MyDoc.pdf". It works great, but now I have to burn this to a CD and distribute it to customers... Do I put all of the files on the root of the CD? Make a folder? I am sure that this must be much more simple than I am making it... Help please! Thank you!

MX Stopped Running On My PC
Flash MX on PC has stopped working for no reason!! It is an upgrade of Flash 5 which is still working. As I open MX it loads in but immediately comes up with a program error is being logged popup. I have tried uninstaling and reinstalling but the same problem occurs?
Anyone else had this problem? Who do I contact about it?

Need Running Animation Help
yo well im attempting to make a xiao xiao type movie but i cant draw the stick men running i dont know how i know it sounds odd ive walked around my room a bunch of times then try transferr that into the drawing but it just does not work so if someone could make a short editable short stickman movie of just running form one side to teh other that would be awesome then i could see each frame and i can learn from that i have flash mx so make sure its in that THANKS!

Running Movies
Hi,

I hope I can explain this right so bear with me...

I have 4 movie clips, each clip has 10 frames.

Each of these clips has a STOP command at the beginning of each clip.

What I want to do is ru, for example, 1, 4, 1, 4, 2, 3, 1, 4, 1, 2

I know I could do all of this the easy way by creating one large clip, but I'd like to know how to do it properly.

What I don't understand is how I can assign movieclip 1 to the name of "Start", and somewhere on movieclip 4 having something like "start.gotoAndPlay(2)".

Self-running Projector
I know you can make a self-running projector in Flash, but if you burn that projector to a CD-ROM, how can you get the projector start automatically when the CD is inserted in the computer? Can you do that through Flash or do you need another progam to set the CD-ROM to do that?

I have a problem trying to re-position objects/text, but i cant change their position as it animates the move, i have running text (x-files style) (a word on a keyline, each letter a key frame) its fine i just want to change the position of it. I've tried cuting and pasting frames to the new position but doesent work.
someone suggest i change the words into movie clips, so that i can move them around, it works for individual objects but not running text, ive tried putting each letter on it's own keyline but it is too time consuming and imposible to allign each letter of a word next to eachother perfectly.

Swf Running Slow On Old Pc's
Hi,

Again I am running out of solutions, so I'm calling in your help again.

I have a swf. (surprised ? ) It runs fine on 95% of all pc's, however, it slowes down terribly on old pc's with about 350 Mhz Cpu's.
Unfortunately that's my main audience, and I plan to use many variations of this swf.

After reading on this subject, I did several tests. The results are in the jpg at the bottom.

First I took out the alpha tweens. That helps a bit, but also takes out a lot of the fun.
Second I took out all the rotation. Didn't really help.

The movetrain-code below is an extration of the total code, I guess that's where it goes wrong. When a train moves, a total of 15 mc's are moving (3 wagons, 8 wheels, 1 loco, 3 loads). That may be causing the slowing down, but I don't see how I can change that.

Some info:

- all graphics are vector, done inside MX2004
- the stage is 800 x 600, 24 fps
- the loads are moved from outside to on the stage, the other graphics are duplicated.
- It doesn't matter how many trains are on the stage.

So what can I do ?

Running Crazy... Please Help
I've got a MovieClip that has "stop" in frame 1 , frame 2 is empty and animation from frame 3 to 10.

I added it this script

if ( _currentframe == 1 ) { gotoAndPlay(3) };

if it's in frame 1 ( with "stop" ) it should go to frame 3, play the animation, return to frame 1 and so on...

But after it plays one cycle of animation it freezes in frame 3 .

Why could this be happening?

Mc Starts Running After 3 Min.?

I have a few mc's that suddenly start running uncontrolled after 3 minutes of looking at paused page??? I have buttons on the top layer that mostly have 'gotoAndStop' action scripts. How is this possible??? They actually don't start running uncontrolled, they go back to frame 1...

.exe Running Choppy
I made a pong game in flash, and exported it as an .exe file. When I go to Control>Test Movie, everything runs fine. However, if I play it by loading my Pong.exe file, once you get in the game, it runs really choppy. What is causing this and what can I do to correct it? Thanks.

Running Out Of Memory?
I have created .swf movies that get launched via buttons, the prolbem is that after playing a few of these large .swf files the browser hangs, I think I have pushed the memory to its limits, how do I release the memory so the next .swf will not hang?

Loading But Not Running Another .swf
I need to load an external .swf in the background, but not play it until the user calls for it. I have tried the following approach (this is from memory, so ignore any syntax errors):

The result is that the first time I access my movie from any computer, the loaded swf plays as soon as it's loaded. On subsequent visits to the same page, the loaded swf behaves as expected, and does not run until I call its play() method.

Does anyone know a workaround? Or another technique for loading an external swf without running it? I can't modify the loaded swf.

Running Once Per User
Hey Everyone,

Just looking around for some advice with a shoshkele (floating flash ad) I'm trying to get working. I'm mainly a front-end developer so i'm a little... rusty on the actionscript side so this is most likely something simple I hope, but I'm trying to make the advert only run once per web visitor to the site (similar to how you can make a popup run once).

I've given it an attempt by trying to use a sharedObject... it works in flash player but not in IE... here's what i've done: (.fla file also attached)

The movie runs through to frame 30 - this is where I've tried to do the sharedObject
