Hi there!

Does any of you guys ever saw or know where can I gent info, tutorials or samples on how to acomplish smooth scrolling motion when the user roll-over the mouse cursor on a button-like image and a large picture or swf will start scrolling.... I HAVE THAT ALL READY BUT INSTEAD OF GETTING SMOOTH SCROLLING, IM GETTING KIND-OF-JUMPING SCROLLING MOTION!!!... YOU KNOW WHY?

I would like to know the action script that I can use to simulate pressing the up and down arrows on the scroll bars within my scroll pane. Does anyone know how to do this. This code would go inside another button I have outside the scrollpane.

I'm looking at a web site that used scroll bars to move around a picture (.jpg) file. It is rather advanced since it also does a zoom in and out. I wanted to duplicate the pan feature, but I haven't seen it done anywhere else. Does anyone have any simple solutions to duplicate the features shown at this website?:

Linking Text Buttons In Scroll To Image Outside Scroll Area

I am desperately hitting my head against a brick wall - so please help me!

I have created a flash area that is divided up with an image on top and a scroll area under.

I am trying to get the text buttons in the scroll area to each change the image above and cant seem to get it to work because of the masking.

I have tried heaps and heaps of different ways and am going crazy!

This might seem like an out there question....

I have used scroll bars in my flash movie and published it. The scroll bars work on any PC and on some MAcs... but not on all MAC's. How could this be? Is the code I am using somehow inconpatible with some browsers on the Macintosh platform?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Hello all. I am working on a site that requires the use of a text field with scroll bars. Now, my problem is that I already have much of the site drawn on the stage, and it will not allow me to place the scroll bar so that it works. I have tried placeing it on a new layer, and a new scene. It will work if I create a new file but that does not help me with the site that I am currently working on.

I have created a text field in a flash movie using a scroll bar. But when I try to make line separations, text disappears. I am using the my text= tags for the text to be shown I know this posting may be a little ambiguous, but if anyone can help, it'll be much appreciated. Thanks.

Can get the bar attached to the dynamic text box and have placed an instant in the properties - still no scrolling motion.

What's the best way to fix it - apart from re attaching it?

Pop Up With Scroll Bars
Hello Board,

I'm using some actionscript in my flash movie to call up a pop-up window. I would like it to have scroll bars. I'm designing and testing on a macintosh but I've had people say that when they get my pop up it doesn't have scroll bars.
Does anyone know a way I can be sure my actionscript launches a pop up window with scroll bars? Here's the script I'm using now and it works fine on the mac.

well earlier i made a post about scroll buttons giving me trouble with dynamically filled textboxes, no matter what i tired nothign was working.

in the end i made cosmetic changes to the document and realised this swf file was not updating despite sending it to my server. somehow depsite me manually deleting the tempory internet file of the swf, IE was cache-ing the swf.........or something along these lines cause i don't know wtf is going on.

any tips cause like i cant even progress here, i feel liek such a newbie.......damn.

If I have a dyntxt window and filling it with text that was loaded in via loadvars...and the text exceeds the window size and needs to be scrolled to view, how does one include a scroll bar to enable a user to scroll down and view the remaining text?

Im using flash mx, im having some problems with the scroll bars. I working in a project that has like 8 or 9 scenes, and transitions to each one, but everytime i close flash, the dynamic text (that i have in all the scenes and has a specific width and height) takes the size of the ammount of words insdide of it, and goes way way down (height size)...

- do i have to put the scroll bars in the same layer of the dynamic text?

- the scroll bars are masked

- this "bug" happens everytime i use dynamic text and scroll bars

Im using Flash MX 2004 Pro but i have a prob
I need to have a text file that is used within the flash file. What i have been doing at the mo is linking the .txt file to a dynamic text box - this works fine. The prob is when the text does not fit in the box, it goes past it, but it doesnt have a scroll bar to scroll through to the rest. I have tried to use the scroll plane component but it wont work! Is there any way of making a scroll bar that would work on a dynamic text box (which likes to an external .txt file)???? This is quite important as my client want to be able to update it easily, but without using Flash. Any ideas???

I have had this problem before, and thought you guys came up with the solution for me - it is quite a complex site, but I have externeal text files loading into separate text boxes throughout, as well as into separate swf's that load into the main swf

I load all the text files in the first frame of each movie, as well as loading them into the first frame of the main movie using this code:
loadVariablesNum("abouttext.txt", 0);on the text boxes, the instance name is "abouttext", and the variable "_level0.about" where the text file is called "abouttext.txt" with the code:
&about'<html>blah</html>sometimes the text boxes seem to work, and other times they don't - i have tested it in firefox and IE

what do you think?

I have this dynamic field that reading text from a file. The scroll bar i have now only goes 1 line forward when the scroller is pressed. I want someone to be able to hold the button and have it keep scrolling.

the code i have now is:

I thought that maybe if you did:

....that it would work but i guess it doesnt. Is there an easy way i could make it do this without having to change alot of code?

I have a movie that scrolls through a textbox which works fine but if I load it into another empty mc loadMovie it displays fine but will not scroll anymore. if I load the movie as loadMovienum it works fine and scrolls but is not in the correct place.

Im making a website and want to use my own style of scroll bars but dont know how to do it. I dont understand how to edit the flash components so I went looking for a scroll bar I could edit and found this.

Now this is the silly bit ! I downloaded the fla file and could change the colour of the scroll bar but dont know how to change the text from whats in the example to what I want. How do I do it ?

Also can i take away the black outline where the text sits in ?

[F8] HELP PLEASE With Scroll Bars
So I'm building a site. And basically I want to have a button, that opens a page on my site. Let's say hypothetically, it's a links page. So there would be links (as buttons/mc's) and then a little description underneath it. My problem is, how to load the page within a certain size limit.
I know how to use a dynamic textbox with a scroll bar, but that doesn't work for me cause I can't make single words a link. When I add a link, it adds it to the entire text box.
I don't like scrollpanes, cause I always seem to get a problem with the scrollbar not scrolling the pane completely to the top or bottom. I always have to drag it up or down about half an inch to see everything completely.
And I'm pretty sure I have seen flash sites do what I'm trying to do, without using the scrollpane.
I was going to use the option of just creating an MC to a certain size so it fits on the page, and any other information that I would like to add, just make a page 2. But that's so lame imo. I would MUCH rather have everything on one page, with a scroll bar when needed.

PLEASSEEEEE help me. I have been slaving over this for weeks now and it's quite frustrating.

I'm trying for my site create a scroll bar. Like in www.paraart.com or www.ficc.jp. Basically it will pop up, is when the stage height and width becomes smaller than the minimum requirements, I wanted then the scroll bars to pop up, and the user can scroll thru my page. But I don't know where to start, or if there is any tutorials on it. I wanted to create custom type of bars. Like in both sites are done.

I have installed scroll bars on a page in AS. In FireFox-PC and Safari-Mac the scroll bars do not appear. Sometimes when the buttons are clicked a few times they then appear.

For some reason, when I advance to another frame, my scroll bar does not reset itself for the text. please help. do I need to set a FScrollBar.setsize or something? Seems like if I change my text then the scroll bar component should recognize that and move the scroll bar to the top and resize it to match. dont know why it is not doing this.

i want multiple scroll bars on my site all on the same page.
i can get the first scroll bar to work with this script:

BUT when i create a second scroll bar and rename the text instance (for example "scroller2") and point it to a different simple text document, it doesn't work correctly. I either can only scroll a part of information i have in that document or none at all!!!!!!

ALSO: why is it that the formatting for the text (font, size, spacing) HAS to be done IN Flash. Is there a way to do it in the simple text document
