See Web Pages Inside Flash?
Is there anyway to see web pages inside flash? I'm doing a flash site with database (reading from a php file) and I wonder if there's any kind of component that allow us to see web pages in a dynamic txt box or a square.... It would save-me of a lot of work hi hi hi.

Help With Linking Pages Inside Flash?
So I have this Template I'm using to learn Flash. I have read numerous books and watched some tutorials.
One thing just can't seem to figure out is how to Link pages (in the case the pages {home, contact, bio etc} are movie clips. In which all you have to do is open the movie clip from the library, customize it and save it and your good to go.
I would love to understand whats going on in this situation. I understand to a point what the action script is doing pertaining to call up the movie clips.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is, How would I go about making more pages with flash. I have the main menu bar with 5 menus linked to 5 different pages. I want to ad a 6th 7th or 8th page. I would love to ad a link within one of the pages to one ofd the new pages. For example:
Menu choices:
Home
Bio
Contact
I would love to figure out how to make say a "Discography" and have a link from the bio page.
I noticed that all the pages are that are in the document now are all on the timline in the same layer. In the actionsript code the pages are labeled "1" for home "2" for bio etc etc. and they show up on the timline in the same order.
I was thinking if I could extend the timeline, save one of the movie clips as a different name ex"4" and place it inside the timeline after the last clip, then I could copy the actionscript for page 3 and change the varible to "4" to match the new movie clip. It did work but my problem is that the timeline ends. So I would have to figure out how to extend the timline but I really don't understand what ALL the other layers and animation are doing and still have not been able to get it to work. I did extend the timline, ad movie clips but when I change the variable to the next "5" it goes to the first page instead of the 5th.
I hope this makes some sence to someone, I know its really long, if someone could maybe point me to a tutorial about making pages inside a flash document using movieclips or if you actually understand my jibberish I would owe you the world

I could send you the flash source files if need be, so you could look at what I'm doing and how its set up, I had to buy the template, but I'm willing to give someone a copy for the help, like I said I just bought some random template thinking I could pick it apart and learn more about flash

How To Show External Web Pages Inside Flash?
Hi.
I have a flash movie. I would like to make one area inside of it like frame in HTML. To show some other web page. Imagine, just one box, everything else is flash but inside of that box is some other web page loaded. Hope you understood what I am after and hopefully there is somebody who is able to help.

Flash 8 Loading External HTML Pages Inside Flash Window
Hi
I was wondering if it is possible to load a google map into a window within my contact page that one can scroll about like you can in actual google maps. At the moment i just have a static picture that when you click on it it takes you to a seperate page. But i dont want to clog my site up with extra graphics if i can avoid it.

Page-Flip Adding Links Inside Pages?
Is it possible to add website address or such inside the pages of the PAGE-FLIP booklet? Say u have a magazine online for Artists, and each page had an artist and his work, but u wanted to include a link to thier website...is there a code or some special way this can be pulled off??

How Do You Setup Text Buttons To Open Pages Within The Same Page - Link Inside
Everytime you click on a link on the mainpage it opens a page smoothly on the same page (I'm trying to stay away from opening a ton of pages to display the info, I like the fact that all the info is displayed on the same page at the click of a button). Web Pages Entirely In Flash
This question is about Flash 4, and I'm using it with Mac OS9.

I'm an advanced Flash user as far as making animated cartoons goes, but I never had any formal training in how to use it for web pages!

My site is entirely flash, and even though all my links, animations, and Flash "programming" works, I'm having trouble getting the pages to display like everyone else's I see.

First problem is, when I scroll down the page (on any computer, in any browser) it scrolls very slowly and turns white at the bottom where the movie should be, then fills it in as I scroll down. So it's not like I'm scrolling down a solid page that has been completely downloaded, because it it has to redraw everything at the bottom every time I scroll. It doesnt look smooth. Are we not supposed to make long pages that require scrolling? Will reformatting the page so it fits in one screen fix the problem? Or should it not be glitching like this?

The other problem is the way it displays the long rectangular page in the browser window. Most people's pages fit in the window and aren't distorted or anything when you resize the window. Mine has a border around it, and on some browsers, it shoves the page to the left and leaves a big white space on the right. I think this stuff is governed by something in the HTML publish settings, but I can't seem to get the right combination to make it fit in the window and just look like a regular web page. Again, should I reformat wider and shorter, to fit in one window, or can this be fixed some other way?

When I make cartoons I just center the little window that the movie lives in using HTML. Getting flash to work as a whole page is new to me. Thanks for your help!

Can Flash Act Like Asp Pages?
Hi all
I'm looking into using flash as a data display and update method...
i work with sql, dlls, asp, and javascript to give an environment of data retrieval update and storage in sql server
from what i have read so far its possible for flash to post data just like a html page
what i was wondering was.....it seems to be quite object based.....the movie clips seem to act like containers....(ie for a text box)
can these movie clips be built to encompass user validation
javascript normally does all validation on client browser
could i build movie clip objects......say

validation :- is a number
output :- textboxs value
ok i work with recordsets but i think i could define structure in xml that would tell flash.....this requires numberclip object
can i dynamically call 5 of these to be set up if five number nodes were in the xml
hehehe and thats just my first question ;-)
basically i am looking to treat flash like a browser....
make it output a display (like the tread listing for this board)......basically make it do all the things forms and asp with recordsets can.....is that possible?

q) What can't flash compared to dreamweaver because in flash you can create a website with animation. So the 2 applications have blurred boundaries. It seems though you can't create text settings as good or tables like in dreamweaver. Why would someone prefer dreamweaver as flash seems to cover most bases and have extra capabilities compared to flash?
q) Is flash most commonly used as embedded in a web page eg .asp/frontpage/dreamweaver or is it used often as a stand alone web page?

Flash Mx And Htm Pages
Hi
i'm revamping one of my sites in flash mx, as i want to learn how to use it properly, but I need some help please.
I want to know if it's possible to import htm pages into a frame or something set up in flash so when i click on any part of the navigation, the page will load up in my flash movie.
The other option i know of, is to create several swf's and just load them into the main page as movie clips.

Flash 5 Variables And ASP Pages?
Today I discovered how to send variables to email using ASP page loaded into the flash swf using LoadVariableNum email.asp level0
Now I want to know is it possible to load a ASP page into the swf to give the swf variables from a database etc.?
If you have done this in your work and would like to help an idiot then please let me know how to format the ASP page as I'm sort of 1/2 way there
THat is, I have got flash to accept the asp page and the output window shows the variables(from the ASP) but I'm having trouble doing anything with the said variables in the flash movie I just doing simple button actions EG oclick set variable Flash = variableASP but don't appear to be getting anywhere

Using Pages From PDF Files In Flash MX
Hello,
I have a series of PDF files. Each file consists of several pages. Each page is a slide of a presentation. What is generally the best method to present this material in Flash MX? Can I separate each individual page from a PDF file and view it in Flash, or is it best to just link to the PDF and let the Acrobat Reader Plugin open the entire PDF document in another browser window?

Linking Pages Into Flash
Hello,
I know this is probably Flash MX 101, but thats the level I am in at the moment. I am just starting Flash and was curious, if I have say 6 buttons, do I create each page in a seperate Flash stage and then link them using the url action script? Since I am not loading them individually onto a website, is my url just going to be for example like you would do in HTML?
I want my whole beginners website to be done in Flash MX.
Also, to keep the same template, is it a matter of copy frames and then just paste on a new stage?

Updatable Pages In Flash
Maybe a really dumb question but i cant find anything on this in the tutorials, i want to make a website entirely with flash, using goto commands to go from page to page, but what if i ant to update a page (news page for example)?
Can i get Flash to load a loose file that i can update and then upload to the server when going to the news page, instead of having to upload an entire flash movie everytime i add 1 line to the news?

Linking To Other Flash Pages
Hi,
Im (completely) new to Flash - I have a template which ive managed to modify, i need to link the main (index) page to the other flash pages.
Ive managed to link one of the pages but all of my buttons open the same page!!
when i try to add the loadmovie cmmd in the action box all the cmmds are greyed out if i try to individually select the buttons on the main page(blue line around each one)...if all buttons are selected (blue line around them all) i can add the action but then all the buttons perform the same action!
Any help is appreciated!

Scrolling Flash Pages
I am doing a Flash Projector presentation for CD Rom but have a problem in that certain sections (frames or then additional movies) of the presentation needs to be horizontally scrollable as these will contain large amounts of text per page. Document/movie size will be 800 x 600.
Can either of the Flash components "ScrollBar" or "ScrollPane" be used and how would I apply them?

In one of my application I was required to use flash in my website. The flash movie has hyperlinks in it which on clicking should be visible in my web page. I am using a frames page. I want to embed my flash movie in one frame and want the hyperlink to open in other frame within the SAME PAGE. i am not able to do the same thing. Flash Between HTML Or PHP Pages
I would like to have a Flash movie play between HTML pages. So the user would be on an HTML/PHP page, click a link to go to another HTML/PHP page, and they would see the short Flash animation, and then they would go to the page they had clicked the link for. I was hoping there was a way to do this where the same animation could be reused between other pages with a variable or URL for which page to redirect to.
Fortunately I'm working with someone whose Flash programming is better than my sorry skills, but I would like to know how (if?) this could be done before I propose it.
Some vague questions I have, can you have a Flash animation play and upon completion open a webpage in the same window? Can you send the variable or URL of which page to open as a Get or Post?
I hope this makes sense, and thank you in advance for any help!

There are 2 parts on my pages : the top contains the Flash menu, and below, there is the PHP pages. My problem is that, i can't find how to launch a php page just below my menu :

MetaTags In Flash Pages
Hello,
I've made a couple of websites lately using just flash, and I'm having a problem with the search engines... The biggest problem is with the "Keywords", the search engines look for the keywords that you enter in your HTML body....however using Flash it can't read any keywords in the swf movie.... also, the engines don't seem to be reading the page description....

Viewing Web Pages From Within Flash
I iwsh to make a flash in wish you may browes the web, and be able to have muitle windows (in the form on in symbols) open at one time. so in a way it would be a broswer, but it is ok for it to run in ie/firefox. does anyone have any idea how i might achive this?

For example, if flashkit was entirely in flash, would there be a way to link to example: flashkit.com/board to favorites(bookmark)? or to see it in an search engine?
I ask because I just recently(actually today) learned that you can use the back/forward button on the browser in a flash site.

Flash Pages In Different Browsers
I have uploaded a webpage that i completely made in flash.

That links leads to a startup html page. When you click the picture on the page, it opens up the main flash page. Or so it should!! Problem is, the page opens and works fine in the browsers internet explorer and opera, but as soon as u do try to open it through firefox or safari(on a mac), it asks the user to actually download the main .swf file?? Orginally i was just opening up a parent window (that contained the flash page) from the first html page, so i thought that might of been the problem. So i then imbedded the main movie into a second html page that is opened in a new page from the first. Just like the first time, it is still doing it in firefox and safari. So im at a bit of a loss, anyone else had that kind of problem and can gimme some advice.

Can Flash Keep Its State Between Different Pages
Hi Guys
Any ideas on how this can be achieved.
My website currently has three main sections and each section is going to have a different theme. Each page has a flash header and I need to load the specific header Movie Clip according to the section, this is no problem but I want to the new header to slide in over the last header, how I can tell flash what the last section/theme was?
So lets say for example;
section 1 is green
section 2 is blue
section 3 is red
about.html (section1) I then click on a link that takes me to products.html (section2) now I need my blue header to slide in over the green header.
Currently I pass in the theme as a parameter to my flash file but somehow I need to pass in another parameter as the theme from the last page so flash can compare and decide what to do or I need the flash file to keep its state.
Was thinking of using Javascript to somehow get details of the last page and dynamically write the parameter.
Does anybody know how this can be achieved or can flash keep its state between different pages or is there a better.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Have Flash Print Two Pages
Hi guys,
I am doing a project where quantity of text will be loaded from an XML file into a textfield and will need to be printed. Problem is that sometimes the text will extend beyond the printing area of 1 page. Any suggestions on how I might flow the overflow into a new textfield so that I might print that?
I can see how I could use textHeight to determine if a new textfield needs to be created, and I could count characters and bump the overflow after a certain count, however that would end up cutting words in half which wouldn't be cool.
Suggestions???

Resizing Flash Pages
I am creating a falsh webpage, the first page is okay but when this goes into second page...see www.dlcdecor.co.uk the size seems smaller. For example I created the Flash page so the graphics and text are centred and fill the screen vertically. But on publishing it seems to be on top left quarter of webpage. Tried changing the document size properties but making it larger has no effect and making it smaller just crops the webpage when published. The first page seems fine with the same settings as second page but the second page has too much black on the right hand side and at the bottom.???
