Shape Tweening Text Color
Yeah ok so can someone pls help me out with the steps to shape tween the color of text in flash
i tried:
1. typed in text
2. break apart
3. copy frame 1 to 5, and changed the color of the text in frame 5
4. shape tween it all
and that didnt work..
any help appreciated, thxs in advance

Problems W/ Shape Tweening And Color
Hi there,
I'm trying to do a simple shape tween to make the sky fade from day to night. However I'm encountering a problem where the gradient I'm using is linear in the preview pane, but it becomes radial when I export it to a .swf file.
Here's my process:
1) Create shape using rectangle tool and fill with linear gradient. Ctrl +B to break it apart.
2) Make a keyframe 20 frames ahead and change the gradient fill colors to a darker color.
3) Highlight all frames in between and select Shape Tween in properties menu with Angular blend.
When I play the movie from within Flash, it works fine. It fades correctly and looks good.
However when I export the file and play it with a flash player, for some reason the gradient transition goes from linear to radial and there's this big circle that transitions in and looks completely retarded.
What could be causing this? There is no option on any of the frames to use a radial gradient.

Shape Tweening With Text
Hi people, wonder if you could help. I'm trying to animate text that wafts slights, as it's attached to a flying banner towed by a plane. However, when I shape tween it, the text distorts slightly, before returning to it's normal shape in the last frame. I've tried using shape hints but that doesn't seem to work. What is the best way in which to do such an animation? Any help would be very much appreciated - cheers guys.

I have a problem with creating a shape tween with text.
I found these steps on the forum but the result wassen't what it had to be. It did'nt morph at all.
"Type in your first text in the first frame and hit CTRL + B.
Go to frame 10 and press F6 to insert a keyframe.
Delete the text in frame 10 and type the text that you want the first text to morph into. With the text selected, hit CTRL + B to break it up.
Select the first frame and in the Frame Panel choose Shape for Tweening."
This picture indicates my problem. There is no arrow on my timeline.

Shape Tweening Text
This is a very basic question. I am having trouble having text do a shape tween. I know you must break it apart. (that should convert the text into a fill...I thought). Then I know each tween must be on a separate layer. So why do I keep getting a dotted line on my tween?

Shape Tweening, Shape Hints...
I can't seem to be able to make shape hints affect the morphing of a box...the hint remains red color wherever i place it both in the starting frame and the end frame of the tween. Also, i also cannot set the initial width of the box to be tweened as 1px...if i do that the tween breaks down. But frustrating, i was able to set it a 1 px width the very first time i tried.

Is there any way to morph an outside pic, such as a jpg?
i have Ctrl B the pics and shape tweened them, but all it does is change pic 1 size to pic 2, the on the last frame changes pics. any help is much appreciated.

I am trying to animate a bar graph using shape tweening. it doesnt make the bars grow straight up smoothly, they change shapes the final product though was right. I even used shape hints and that didn't help any. every time it lookes like a bar that explodes and comes back together taller. doing things frame-by-frame is not very time efficient. what am i doing wrong.

I know this is probably very simple, but please help me out: how do you turn a symbol back into just an object to do a shape tween? Here is where I am: In my last frame, I have my symbol only. The next frame, I want to begin shape tweening that object that is a symbol into something else over the course of the next several frames. It won't let me change the shape while it is still an instance of my symbol, but I want it to look exactly like my symbol for the first frame before it changes shape. What do I do next? Thanks,

I'm trying to creat a flash movie for my wife, a late valentines gift. Yes I gave her a card, I'm not in the dog house this was just a little something extra plus a way for me to learn more on flash.
I have a Bow with Wings (wings on seperate layer) flying across the stage and hitting a target and a flower appears. My problem is when I tween the Bows shape as it flys on its path it loses it's shape radically. I guess the wings will also.
What I did; I created a keyframe for the Bow, several frames later I copied keyframe and I modified the shape/angle of the bow, several frames later again I copied keyframe again and modified the shape/angle ect, ect, till it reached the target. I then made the layer into a SHAPE for tweening. when I went back to play what I had done, Garbage. The Keyframes all look good but the tweened ones all lose thier shapes. Colors mix with lines, it's a mess.
Can anyone advice, What am I doing wrong?
Am I missing a step?

i have drawn a line in frame 1 and inserted a keyframe in 20th frame and transformed the line by -45 degree.If i apply shape tweening for that ,what i get is something unusual that is the line goes to the new position by making a rotation,what should i don to avoid that.But it works well for 45 degree transformation.

Shape Tweening Help
I want to have a key that tweens into some text. the key is a jpeg that I imported. I have broken it appart and also the text. So on frame 1 the key is broken apart and on frame 30 the text is in a keyframe broken apart. I created a shape tween. The key is changing but on frame 30 it just goes to the text as oppose to be converting from the key. Do I need a movie clip?
I did a similar one a year ago, but can't figure out how I did it. An example of what I want can be seen on

Can anyone tell me if there is any sort of way to Shape Tween between Text and a Image. I read something a while back and I wanted to swear there wasn't a way to do it but, I've seen pages that have things that do. Example the word dog turning into a picture of a pit bull, gunshots turning into the word killer, ect. I'm trying to make my name turn into a logo.

Shape Tweening In Mx
hi!
i'm tryong to do a shape tween in MX. I've done it a few times, now I can't make it work...
Basically I do this...
Create shape 1 (in keyframe 1). I drew a circle. Then add a blank key frame in frame 20. Then I drew a square. I want the circle to morph into a square.
Then alls I do is double click to select all frames between frame 1 and 20. Then go to the properties panel and select shape tween.
Then it gives me a dotted line with a warning (which I don't understand), and it doesn't work!!
What am i doing wrong??

Shape Tweening
I am trying to do a complex animation of a beating heart using shape tweening but my lines and fills are going all over the place. I have tried using shape hints and breaking the image up on to different layers but it does not solve the problem. The outer line appears to rotate arond the image as it animates even though the number of points are constant and in areas where there is no movement. Is there any way of stopping this? I am using Flash MX and am trying to do something that I seem to be having problems with. I want to shape tween 2 objects.
If I draw a circle and select it and choose shape tween then add a keyframe and draw a square choosing the same shape tween it all works fine. The circle becomes a square nice and smoothly.
The help file says I can do this with anything that is broken apart. So I create 2 shapes in Photoshop and imported them as gifs & pnfs. I place one at the begining and broke it apart set it as shape tween then place the other one at the end keyframe, and broke it apart.
When I play the stupid thing all I get is what almost looks like a mask going over the graphics. I see double graphics all the way through the time line with no changing.
How do I use regular graphics to do a shape tween?

WTF @ Shape Tweening
I drew some shapes, and I wood like to tween between them, where they like morph into each other, but only motion tween works, and it just moves it a little, wtf is the problem? I'm so sick of flash, I can't shape tween a damn thing and it gets frustrating, can anyone help me?

Some time ago I had to produce a series of animations using shape tweening in Flash 5 which basiclly didn't work properly and I ended up having to go through a huge amount of work to do something that should have really been quite simple. The problem appers to be that flash could not track the vector points properly and the image distorts. There are supposed to be ways of stopping this but they didn't work and from the results of my last posting I was clearly not the only one with similar problems. I now have a another job with the same type of animation, could aanyone tell me if macromedia have sorted this out in the latest version or will I be wasting my money on am update.

ok, I have a tennisball and a map of belgium: what I want to do is to make a them "morf" so the map takes the size and form of the tennisball, with a bit of alpha as an extra. Normally, that doesn't seem to be that difficult but somehow: I'm doing something wrong...
Don't know what actually. I know about breaking apart objects and so on but this time, it simply wont work!

Hiya, as a beginner I'm trying to make a simple shape tween, but I've encountered a few problems along the way...
1. When using the pen tool, some of the anchors (points on a vector graphic) disappear, making the shape far look far too simple. Any way of inserting anchors?
2. When I move each anchor into the second shape, some disappear, leaving what would be a slight curve a straight line. Again, any way of inserting these anchors?
3. Part of this shape has a pointed area, when I move the anchor that makes the point to its second position and play the animation, it shows the point breaking into two, like a triangle with the top bit cut off, and then the point comes back again at the end of the animation. So what I'm seeing is a triangle losing its point and then finding it again. Any ideas on preventing this?

Hi, I'm having a bit of trouble with ANY form of shape tweening (my motion tweening skills are pretty good) Anyway, for me, Flash only lets me shape-tween with images that I create IN Flash, and when I import any other images to shapte-tween it doesn't work. I've tried MOTION-tweening with external images and it works well, but shape tweening is like, broken....

I need to tween shapes, and I use shape hints for the tweens to work. The problem is that the tweens gets ****ed up, or dissapears, and stuff like that. The area of Hint A In the first frame never ends up in the area of Hint A in the last frame...

I need help in trying to make a shape tween animation. Now I know how to turn a square into a circle, and all those other standard shapes, but this one is a bit more complex.
I have a logo which is basically a thin line scribble with one continuous thin line curving inside itself forming three rough circles overlapping, like a spring. If you want to get a better idea of this, grab a pen and doodle a picture drawing a bunch of circles overlapping each other without taking your pen off the paper. I want to animate this so that the illustration unravels itself to become a straight line, ie the points at either end of the illus are not joined, therefore each end point will become either the first or last point on the path, and I'm trying to make the animation look as if it is a piece of string, opening out.
This was originally drawn up in illustrator as a stroked path, and I can import it from illus or redraw it up in Flash using the pen tool.
The problem I have is that, unlike in Illustrator where the path is continuous, in Flash the path gets broken into sections where it intersects itself, so that when I try to generate a shape tween between this and the straight line in a later key frame, my scribble logo breaks apart to form the straight line, and doesn't unravel itself.
I've made sure the straight line has the same number of points as the scribble, and have tried to use hints, but it doesn't work.
Is something like this possible in Flash? I don't really fancy having to animate every frame myself. Am I being really stupid? Any help please.

I am new to this forum.
I started using flash in 2005 and made a "intro" animation for my website, which was at that time on ".tk" and on Geocities.
I used Shape tweening to change a CIRCLE into my websites name which was spilt in four different parts "www.", "asad", "ahmad" , ".tk"
Now, after almost a year of not-in-touch from Flash, I want to change the ".tk" to ".com"... and I did... just be deleting ".tk" and making a new shape from text ".com" and placing it in the right position... but it is not working...
Can someone Please tell me how can I change a symbol/shape from a shape tweening sequence without messing up.

What i am trying to acheive is a tween between this....

In addition i want the tween to start when the mouse rolls over the image and to tween back when the mouse moves off the image.
(note: the final button will be used in a director project if this makes a difference!)

I insert a letter on stage and break it apart on a later frame I insert
a blank keyframe and draw a shape. I then choose shape tweening on the
first frame, and expect the letter to morph to the shape, however, it
just inserts the dashes in between the keyframe and it does not animate.

can anyone point me to any tutorials etc that will help me tell Flash via AS2, to tween one shape into another?
What I want to do eventually, is place randomly selected Shapes from the library, which will tween into each other.. With also having the added bonus of MC effects on them too, because of their nesting inside a host MovieClip which will be doing the attaching.

Hello, i had problem with shape tweening...
I put a textbox and typed "Hello" , then add another in the same layer with "hi". Then i "shape tween" it. But it wouldnt transform... why?
I also tried a box in 1st frame and text in 20th frame, it also cannot. I did not group it or symbol it, why?
I did it once about a year ago... but i forgot the correct method, anyone knows?

Right, see here's where I get stuck with flash, using shape tweening, I can do all sorts of different cool things with motion, masking and actionscript....
...but not shape
It's not that I can't get it to animate, cos you can see the sort of problem I have on my old site http://joe.coldridge.com It will move, and morph, but it breaks up into weird patches and lines,
a summary of my problem being that I ant morph from 1 shape to another without it splitting up, I need to somehow add something to tell it to keep certain bits the same etc.

make another text
select the gum tool(the erase tool)
en erase a little point in the middle of the transformation
as little as possible
then create a shape tween i did this by right click the frame and then(create motion tween)
and changed it into shape(i used flash mx of course) but that was a flash 5 tutorial so can someone help me

for example, if you rotate an object just a few degrees, the animation would turn out more than 360 degrees
