I did a website for a client of mine, and she says that on all of the flash that is on her site, and its real simple stuff, nothing complex

these are pretty much her words, edited a bit, but since i dont see what she says i have to go by what she says.

She says she can see the actual cell border anywhere there is flash. Then, when she places her mouse anywhere in a flash area, a box of text appears "click to activate and use this control"
This happens any where there's flash on the site Once she clicks her mouse, the cell border goes away, and the flash appears.

if anyone can help me out in figuring out why this is happening, and how I can stop it from happening, i would really appreciate it.. thanks

Flash Site Works Only When You Click Play?
Hi Guys,

I have constructed an intro movie sequence, just as a place holder and to do some test etc. that has a preloader that graphically displays the download progress percentage. The trouble is from the web server nothing actually plays until you click 'play' in the Flash controls. Previewed on my local machine things are somewhat different as it works every other time (but not the first) when I click 'simulate download' in bandwidth profiler.

Does anyone know why this might be happening?
I'd be very gratefull for your words of advice!

Right Click Menu Of The Flash Player
does anybody know if it is possible to hide or change the right click menu of the flash plugin (javascript or actionscript or maybe both). i don´t even wanna see that 'info about the flash player'.

[Flash Player 9 Mac] Right-click Destruction
Has anyone else noticed that right-clicking with Flash Player 9 freezes the player visuals? Doesn't matter what you do afterwards, simply right-click anywhere on the player window, and you're done seeing and redraw updates. Same results on 4 out 4 Macs tested. Anyone else on a Mac have the same issue?

At this point, I'm not worrying too much about it, as Mac users represent a very small user base of our target market, but it does represent 90 percent of out production platform, so its quite a problem for us, especially when we want to incorporate some custom right-click actions!

Players 8 and below never had this problem, that any of us recall. It's a pretty jarring problem, completey blows up your experience by a simple right-click 99 percent of the time.

Flash Player 9 On IE Seems To Require An Extra Click
Hi all, It's been ages since I've visited here as I haven't done any Flash for some time, but I started up again as my new semester approaches. The computers at my school all use Windows XP and Internet Explorer. Last semester, with Flash Player 7, the students could open the page and start working right away. They upgraded the computers to Flash Player 9 over the summer, and now it requires either a click on the background, or pushing the Enter or spacebar keys to "activate" it so it can be used. Does anyone know any way in Flash or html that this new aspect can be deactivated? An example of what I mean is in this extremely easy page I made that practices mouse movement. If you don't click first, the color changes in the over state don't happen. (It works fine on my Mac in Safari btw.) This is the page:

[MX04] Click A Button Once To Play, Then Again To Play In Reverse
Alright, so I've got this MC that is set up to play 2 other Movie clips upon being clicked, and what I would like to have happen is; upon clicking this MC again, these 2 other movie clips will being playing in reverse, and if clicked again will play forward, and so on ad infinitum.

I've attempted to do this by having this code in the first frame of the "button" MC, in a separate actions layer.

hi! im a newcommer, and i'd like to know how one can get rif of the options like "show all" or "zoom in" etc. when a surfer right clicks on a flash presentation on their web browser ..

oh yeah ... also, can anyone help me out with ways to make a flash presentation less "taxing" on the surfer's computer. For instance, i am alsready done making a flash presentation .. and even on high speed internet it takes time to load .. anyone know how to make it load faster and all?

Prevent Flash Player 7 Menu In IE To Show On Right Click
I have made a logg in system where i redirect the flash playhead to differnet
labels, depending on if the user has entered a correct password. It works OK.

But then i found out that by rightclick on the flash-file in Internet Explorer
a Flash player 7 menu displays. By choosing "play" in this menu the user gets controll over the Flash main Time line and can make it to play forward to all labels in the projekt.

That ****s up my log in system, i´m loosing control over label navigation.

Is there any way to prevent this Flash player 7 meny to display?

[CS3] Distinguish Between 'click And Throw' And Simple Click

I'm developing a gallery of images which is essentially a load of polaroids on the desktop which the user can click and 'throw' out the way to see others. The user can also click on any of the images and it increases in scale and comes to the foreground.
Is there a way to distinguish between a 'click and throw' mouse action and a 'scale and foreground' click?

It does what it's supposed to, i.e. it clicks and throws, but I can't distinguish a static click.

Play Swf From Flash Player Not Browser
Is it possible to use action script or html or javascript to launch a flash movie in the flash player rather than in the browser. I want users to have the movie play as windowless and with a transparrent background ie directly on their desktop. I have swf studio which allows these but want to integrate these features via the web rather than on cd or similar.

Mp3 Player Plays In Flash, Won't Play In Browser
Hey. I downloaded a flash file from Flash Kit called Turntable 1.5- Its an mp3 player that loads an XML playlist file and plays the mp3's listed. I tweeked it some, and it works fine when Testing within Flash, or playing in the Flash Player, but it won't play the mp3's when I try to load it in Safari or Explorer. This is the case both locally on my hard drive and on my website. The activity window in the browser shows that its loading the mp3's as they are called on, but it won't play them. This is the case whether I play the .swf file through an HTML page, or just loading it directly in the browser. And the mp3's play fine through the browser when loaded on their own. I can't figure this out- why flash will play it fine, but the browsers won't. Is there something I need to know about XML?
I'm going crazy here, I've worked insanely on tweeking this thing, only to find this out... Can anyone PLEASE help me?

Browser Wont Play My Flv ... But Flash Player Will
Ok I just need take a deep breath.

I'm making a little button that pops up a window with another movie (lets call this the player movie).

Here is the script on the button:

So ... when I test the player movie from flash everything works fine, but when i open everthing from my browser (both on my server and my harddrvie) it cant find the flv file.

Does anyone know whats going on.

I checked and double checked the paths and its all good
everthing is on the base level so in my media display component it just says laquinta.flv. Which is the name of the file.

In my player movie I have a media display and a media controller.

It plays fine in just the flash player.

Flash 8 Encoded Video To Play In A 7 Player
I've been to a site ( www.thebreakdown.tv ) where they are using Flash 8 skins for the player and the video looks so good I strongly believe it's encoded with Flash 8. However, this site works with computers that only have Flash 7 plugins installed.

Is there any way that this is possible?

Our target market will most likely want to access our site at work from corporations and the like. My collegue works at a place where it is impossible (without hacking in as an administrator) to update the flash plugin. But we don't want to affect the quality of the video either.

Any suggestions please let me know.

i can't seem to figure out the actionscript for creating a simple play/pause button...

it should be something like this: when you click on PLAY, the song plays and the play button is replaced by the PAUSE button...when you click on PAUSE, it stops the song at the current frame (pause button is now replaced by PLAY button)...click PLAY again to resume from current frame...you know the drill...

oh yeah, there are 2 songs that are to be played...each being loaded from different levels (each on separate .swf files)...

any help on this would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

I need to create a DVD to play on a regualr DVD player in a bar to promote events and would like to create some animations in Flash since I know that app very well. I don't know much about DVDs though.

What's the best way to get the Flash stuff into DVD format?

I know Flash can output Quicktime .mov files and I have some video editing and DVD burning software that came with my laptop (Pinnacle Studio 8 and Instant CD DVD). I'm not sure if this will do it, can't see how immediately.

Is there are better or easier way to do this?

Flash Mp3 Player - Random Play Problem
Heyo

I've been asked to get a flash mp3 player working a "friend of a friend's" website. He wanted the mp3 player to simply play randomly (shuffle mode) also not to repeat the same track twice until everything has played through. The users don't get any controls other than the volume and play/stop. He wants it to something like an internet radio.

We chose this premade flash mp3 player as it has the best options available and his "programmers" could easily work with the xml file.

The problem is, out of about 100+ tracks in the xml file it repeats tracks that have already been played before getting to the others. I tested it earlier and after listening to 5 songs it repeated track 3 again, and another time I tested it it played the same song twice. Obviously this ruins his aim with the mp3 player.

The mp3 player is pretty much all action script (actually two actionscript files) with an swf file containing the graphics, buttons, display etc. From what I can see it looks as though it should play a random track and check to see if it has been played already (see line 271 in jwMp3player.as) but thats just not the case. Here's what I think is the relevant actionscript ...

So you've probably guessed it, what I'd like to do if possible is edit the actionscript to prevent it from repeating tracks once they've already been played or at least prevent them from being replayed within a 25 track radius. I have no idea how complex or simple this would be. And I may well be willing to pay some money to however manages to solve the problem, this is for a client so they'll be paying for the work, obviously if someone else manages to fix it the money can go to them. As I said though this is a "friend for a friend" job so there's not lots of money in it.

I really hope someone can help out because I'm pretty desperate to get this solved.

Play Speed Of Flash Player Different Than Browser?
On the site I'm working on, I noticed it seems a bit sluggist when view in IE. I did a couple quick tests to confirm it. In just about 3 seconds of short transitional animation, it's about 1/2 second slower in IE then it is in the flash player.

I've been judging the speeds using the integrated preview feature with Flash MX, so it's a bit of a turnoff. I suppose I could always push the frame rate up to ~40 from ~30 (it's actually at 31) to make up for it, but that just ignores the issue.

Is this a known issue? Any additional info on it?

Mp3s In Flash Player Play REAL Slow
Hello all. I've just installed a flash player on my site to play my mp3s and 2 of the songs play very slow. I've never had a problem with these mp3s before and I can't figure out of its the mp3s or the player??? I tried re-converting the mp3s, but to no success. Does anyone know what's going on here?

Some Computers Won't Play My Site, Flash Player 8 Installed Though
Hello everyone,

I've built a flash site in flash mx and it all works fine on most computers, but at my brothers work (for whom the website is for), there's not a single computer that seems to play the site properly. They've got flash mx 2004 and flash player 8 is installed and use internet explorer 6.

The site opens with this language swf, where you can choose your language. After that it links properly to the main site, which displays well. Only thing is that none of the buttons works... So they're basically stuck on the mainpage.
On other computers this problem doesn't occur. All buttons work fine.

I can't seem to figure out what the problem is. Can someone help me out please?

Flash 8 Video Player Won't Play MP3s? Please Confirm
I'm working with some other developers at my office on a multimedia player interface that displays ads and MP3s/FLVs from a user-controlled database of content.

Turns out, in our v2 iteration that uses Flash 8 and the related video player, MP3s don't jive. Is that right? We're just now migrating to Flash 8 development, particularly for video, and we were suprised to see the functionality we had for MP3s with the MediaPlayback component go away. Is there a better way to integrate the Flash 8 video player with audio than what we did before?

SWF Created In Flash MX 7 Won't Play In Browser W/Flash Player 9
I just noticed that my website, which I made from a template from templatesheaven.com, isn't playing in Flash Player 9 in a browser. It plays in the standalone player for some reason, but when I look at it on the web, it shows just the count-in (or whatever it's called, the pre-load), but stops when the counter hits 99% and the action never starts. I built it using Flash MX 7, but for all I know the template was made using Swish, which apparently causes problems with Flash Player 9. Anyone have any other ideas? Still plays fine in FP7, so I'm stumped. If I open my .fla file in Flash 9 and then export, will that likely fix the problem? Any ideas appreciated...
