Flash :: Simple Graphics...

Erasing Graphics...simple Question
Hello gurus,

I'm trying to make a button. I imported a graphic to use with my button.

Now, when I use the eraser to remove a few things on the graphic, the graphic restores itself! Right when I thought I've erased it, the erased portions appear to return.

how can this be easily solved?

I'm no good at building vector graphics. Is there a site I can go to that will allow me to download really good graphics, even 3d fla's that I can import and use in my website? I want to make a really good site, but the lack of usable graphics has always hindered me. Help!

Got an easy question-
why does flash sometimes distort graphics? I may be doing something wrong, but i was working on a movie yesterday and imported a PNG file that i exported from Fireworks. The image looked beautiful in the authoring tool, but when i pressed CTRL+Enter to test the movie, the edges lost their antialiasing. The image appeared to be pretty well distored. Since this was just the in-program test, i didnt get to set an JPEG compression options like you would upon exporting the movie..
any thoughts on this subject?

I need help with adding graphics into my movie. I find a picture, go to "Copy," then go to my Flash Movie and hit "Paste." Then the pic appears in my movie. But it is surrounded by a white box, like all objects. I want to get rid of that box. this problem is very annoying, because I have lots of sprites and backrounds I want to use, but cannot due to this box. Please help. (Note: This is my first post on this board EVER!)

I have been seeing many sites using photos or graphics that have lines in them...I have included an example picture...Could you tell me what type of graphic it is and what is used to make it, and where could I get the software? I know its a jpg, but how are the lines made or what could I use to make them on other photos?

I am having a very difficult time making my images look even remotley good in flash MX. I am using PhotoShop, Illustrator, Photo Impact and they all look like crap. They look good if they are of normal size somtimes but if i make them smaller they look really crapy. Any IDeas anyone....

Hi All!

Just wondering.....

I'm creating a portfolio website in Flash MX and when adding my images/illustrations, (I've been using PNGs or GIFs) they look fine until I play my movie...then they have a choppy shadow around them.

Would this be because of the file types? What file types should I be using when saving my illustrations?

How do you get the white boxes around your graphics to go away. I tried editing in Fireworks, deleting the white boxes with transparent background with no luck.

i aint sure but it looks like flash is not the best program to develop graphics and the games i saw and admire were developed by the use of other software.

I am doing my graphics in photoshop, but when I import them to flash, the images look sick.. distorted you should say. I am saving them as "GIF" b/c I dont want a background, just the image. any ideas on how I can get the images to look like they o in photoshop?

that guy is my friend, its not that he was gonna pay me or anything...

but he just gave me that suggestion that I should add some graphics to my flash.

I only had text animating with music...

Im not good at drawing what so ever. I am trying to create a flat 2D table (as in table where u can put it in your living room that has chairs).

So in flash, I drew a rectangle that is coloured in brown. It looks so flat and plain. I would like it to look a little bit more realistic.

Any tutorials that can help me? Or anyone want to offer to draw me one? Or guide me on how to create one?

Is there a way to do a 3d panel with clear buttons imbedded into it and a color beneath the button layer that changes on rollover?

It isn't that hard to do with photoshop, but can it be done with flash?

i am trying to figure out how (if?) it is possible to switch out graphics in an MC from another MC. Basically what i want to do is have a movie that runs an animation with a graphic. And then will switch out the currently animated graphic with a new one from a different timeline.

is this possible ? (all my attempts are failing)

I have a bunch of scenes that show different locations, and I have a sound that plays at the beginning of each and then usually fades out. It's a lot like Myst actually, and a really cool effect, but the longer sounds tend to overlap each other if the user switches scenes too quickly. Is there a way to make the sound stop when you switch to a new scene?

On a related note, what's the best way to compress sounds and graphics? This entire site is pretty bitmap-intensive.

Well ive being messin' around in flash on and off for a while and the one thing that has kept me down is graphics. Like right now I need a regular old red heart for my movie im making and I have no idea how to get one. I have freehand and think I would be best off using that but I dont know how I should go about creating graphics for flash. any ideas on where to start would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

HELP Scrolling Graphics
can anyone help me with this?

i have created to buttons: a left arrow and a right arrow.
i have a graphic that i need to scroll smoothly to the left or right in response to rolling onto the appropriate arrow.

rolling off of either arrow should stop all movement.

i am not advanced in action scripting and have no idea where to begin. any suggestions?

Where Do I Create My Graphics?
Hi, I am a Flash newbie with a simple question. Where do I create the graphics I will use in Flash? I understand from the tutorials that I need/should create Vector-based graphics. So that's not Photoshop. Where do y'all create the cool graphics for use in Flash? I think it's Freehand but I'm not sure. And what's the file type extension (i.e: .gifs, .jpgs).

I've got the basic animation and Action Script techniques down but don't know where to make cool graphics. Flash itself doesn't seem to have too many graphic creating abilities. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks.

Morphing Graphics. Such As Bmp
Ok i have been trying to morph graphics for a week now. I can morph them like i do text or simple object but all they is box out to the shape of the new picture and then just switch pictures. Well can someone tell me what to do to fix this.

Can anyone help me? I need a background like this: (its like those very old papers kept in your attic for three ganerations... kinda like egyptian papyrus. Well, sorta...)

but just the background... I need it for the courier font. The courier font goes well with it. Pretty cool, huh? ^_^ It's one of the many reasons why I need it so much... Any help would be appreciated. If you have web backgrounds like these (any similarities), please PRETTY PLEASE post 'em here... I really need it. Thanks in advance.

Converting Graphics To MC's
This is a really dumb question I'm sure, but it's something that's been annoying me for a while.

If I import a graphic into Flash, convert it to a Movie Clip or Button or whatever and put it in the library, what do I do with the original graphic. If I try to delete it, it leaves an empty MC, but I've seen other people's libraries in which they only have the MC, and not the original graphic.

Everytime i import a graphic to flash 5 it has a whit background i have even cut them out in adobe first and then imported them. This has been the hardest thing so far please can sum1 tell me how to make the backround of the graphic transparent or something. please respond if you have an answer thank you for your time

Graphics Question
I'm trying to import a .gif into my movie that has a transparent background. It shows up ok, but there's this ugly white box tracing around the .gif. I also tried saving it as a PNG in Photoshop, but with the same results. Is there anyway to get rid of that opaque white box? Thanks!

Sooo many to choose from....

I am mainly after something to draw and export graphics into flash with, as flash seems a bit weak. What would you all recommend? Fireworks, Freehand, Photoshop, Quark? Do they all have nice eye candy effects, do animations etc...?
I've not really used any a great deal so want to start with something that will do for most things.

I need help. How can I make turn an object around a graphic as a elipse or a circle? I don't mean to draw a circle and aply a motion guide, I mean if there exist any function which I can associate with the object to make it turn around...

that's because I am developing a little aplication to show how a satellite orbit around the earth, depending of it's velocity and inicial angle.

If I can have something like a cartesian plan in flash, then I could tell the object, with certain velocity and angle, "orbit as a circle around the earht", "orbit as a little circle", or "orbit as an elipse". I hope you can help me.

LoadVariables And Graphics
I am new to using the "loadVariables" action, and I know it is possible to load in text files into your movie.

Is it possible to load an external graphic(s) from a folder? I hoped to have a folder with several graphics, and have the movie slideshow them. Instead of creating a new movie every time I would like to replace the graphics in the folder.

I understand that there maybe a completely different way I could handle this. I am open to any suggestions. Thanks.

EXPORTING GRAPHICS
hey everyone, i have an exporting question. i created a graphic inside of flash mx and i like it so much that i want to export it inot fireworks. how can i do that?? i tried the export option in flash but when i did, it only got about the bottom half of the image. any ideas?? thanks

Distorted Graphics
I haven't been using Flash 5 very long. But after exploring almost every option I can find, I cannot figure out why Flash 5 distorts imported images.

Example: I made a button in Photoshop, for the movie, and when I imported it, it looks all blurry and horrible. Is there any way to fix this? or is it just Macromedia's way of converting all of us to Flash for graphics?

I want to load JPG files, dynamically generated, into an SWF. I think MX can do this. Any ideas? Is there a LoadImage object?
