Flash :: Solution To Missing Skin In FLV Player

FLV Playback Swf Skin Missing
Hi fellow flashers...

Ok this might seem really stupid but, I cannot get the controller to show up on my FLVs even tho the swf skins are in the same directory on the server. If I test the movie in flash, it's fine, but those files are coming from my local drive. I can't publish or export movie direct to the server but the directories are the same (except for the root) on my local computer and the server.

What am I missing?

Missing Skin In FLVPlayback
I have a Slide presentation that is controlled with cue points in actionscript 2.0. The presentation advances and resets according to the running time of the streaming FLV.

The problem is that everything tests well but in real life the swf loads without the FLV skin, hence vo controls.
The FLV plays fine and the presentation advances correctly.

MPEG4 To Flash For Website - Missing Skin
I am new to Flash & flying by the skinof my teeth. I have converted avi files to flash & now I have an mpeg4. I have issues.

After converting an avi file into flash... I have figured out thru the tutorials how to insert a flash video into the actual page the video will be playing in. (I use dreamweaver 8 and all is good, video, audio & skin.) I have figured out how to export all the flash files including the skin swf to a website & have the video play in its own html page that was generated thru flash. All is good.

Now I have an MPEG4. I convert it like I did the avi file. Upload all of the flash files & documents but... here is the big difference... I am trying to insert the flash file into a html page that I am not designing or coding. Someone else is taking the files & putting them in where they want. The video plays in Firefox but with no skin (yes, the swf is there as is the flv and all the other files). It dosen't paly at all in Explorer. Of course when I look at it thru Flash publish html it is all there and works beautifully. When I play it in Dreamweaver it looks good also.

What am I not doing? Help! Oh, I did read RonMA's problems & I made sure I was prompting people to download Flash and I also made sure the skin file & the flv file where loaded.

Missing Ideas For Content Solution...
One of my Clients has pretty much content on his site, but he wants it all in flash...so i made the main design and everything, but now i am having a problem.... how can i display text, pics perfectly formatted the best way? I can't use text boxes with scrollbars, because he wants pics between the text etc etc... so is it possible to include readymade html documents in a text box? or how could i solve this problem....? designing every single movie by hand would be pretty much work!

How To Add The Skin To The Player?
Hi, thank you for your help.

I run a store and have a e-commerce web site. I'd like to display the products in flash movie.

After I took the video for one product, port to Flash 8 and convert it to a .swf file to play on the web, I don't know how to include the skin such as stop, play, next buttons, movie time and the scroll bar to scroll the movie cursor.

Can any one help or provide a link to the source code example?

HI!

I'm new to working with flash and in particular with embedding video clips, which is what I"m trying to do here.

Using the wizard, it created 3 files, an HTML, SWF and a flv file.. so what I'm not understanding is about the 'skin' of the video player that I chose in my my wizard process.. it's not showing up and the final screen in the wizard says:

"The video component uses a skin that has been copied next to your .fla, this also needs to be deployed to your server"

um what? no intiendo.. where did the skin go? and how do i get it to show up?

FLV Player Skin Not Showing
Hi,

I've to a strange problem. I want to play a video on my website. Should be easy enough. I imported a video into a flash document, setup a player with a standard skin and published the whole thing.

When I load the webpage, either on my local machine or from the remote webserver, the video starts playing immediately AND THERE ARE NO CONTROLS VISIBLE. I've tried placing the skin swf file everywhere with no success. The movie plays fine. (the swf player is finding the flv file.) It would just be nice to have the controls.

Does anybody have any suggestions??

FLV Player - Loading A Skin

BIG BIG BIG problem on my hands here... I have an FLV player that I pass a bunch of data into from an XML file. One of these things is the skin for the progress bar, volume bar, play/pause buttons, etc... I'm hopeful you know what I mean.

ANYWAYS, when I load the .swf in as "skin.swf" it's fine, but if it's "http://www.domain.com/dir1/dir2/skin.swf" the whole app messes up...

I can't get an error to trace, but the .swf just sits there at 0,0 of my app... where when I just use the .swf the buttons go to the spot I tell them to go...

Any ideas?

EDIT: I should mention that when I run it in the IDE, no matter what, either the URL or direct, it works...

Web Based Player Skin
Hi guys,

I have created a web based player skin in photoshop just for the fun of it however I'd like to take it a step further and actually apply it to a dynamic player.

Bit like youtube player when playing videos, I assume this is done through flash but does anyone know of any good tutorials or can point me in the right direction to get a similar setup with my own unique skin?

Flash Mp3 Player Skin?
I have to make a mp3 player for a client of mine and I con't understand his descriptions

Colours can go as parameters to swf file, same like skin url. Flash could be called like this :

player.swf?color1=000066&color2=000066&color3=000066&skin= http://www.site.com/skin.jpg&url1=http: ... .site1.com

And you can use variables inside of swf to setup colours, urls for clicks, and skin.

FLV PLayer Skin With Timecode Readout?
Does anyone know where I can find a flv player skin that has timecode readout on it? None of the premade skins that come with Flash 8 have options for timecode readout. Something youtubish looking.

Custom Player Skin Problems...
I've searched everywhere and I couldn't find 1 place that explains how to make your own skin.. I tried editing a basic skin but I'm having problems...

As you can see:
1) the play button's background (which belongs to the outline) appeares pixelated although I drew it in vector.
2) The progress bar does not stretch all the way across the player for some reason (I checked and both right and left anchor are marked with true).
3) The volume bar leaves the player from the right (anchor right is true).

What could cause this?

Need A GOOD Looking Video Player Or Skin.
Video players: I don't like any of them!!
All the same and all look not very good.

Even if I had a different and better looking skin: that would at least be better.

I've seena nice one froma company called Sonetti or soemthing...
But all others seem very poor.

Does anyone know of any good ones...?

FLV Player Custom Skin Problem
I am trying to use the FLV player to add video to an ad. The problem I am having is I have to upload the main SWF to the ad sever so I have to reference the skin absolutely rather then relatively. The FLV is also referencing a file already on the web.

When I publish the file and view on my computer this works fine but once I upload to any sort of web sever the video never appears. This is definitely a result of the custom skin url b/c when I upload it and put the skin back to default it works fine.

Is there something I might be doing wrong?

I've inserted a flash movie into my DW webpage (it's a template page if that makes any difference) - the movie plays fine in Browser. However I want the movie to continuously loop without having the player 'skin' visible - any suggestions?

MP3 Player AS2.0 Class - XML Playlist And Skin
Here is an MP3 Player AS2.0 class I made. The idea was to make it very easy to implement in flash, and then to allow the skin and playlists to be editable via XML. Compatible with Flash Player 7 and up.

Critique it, use it, add to it. If you make improvements, please post them here for everyone to use! Feel free to post links to your implementations of the player as well (assuming anyone decides to use it!).

Custom Skin Not Working In Video Player

I wanted to change the default behavior of the Flash Video Player skin such that "caption" Button works as a link and opens a new browser window.

I took SkinOverAll.fla saved as SkinOverAllCustom.fla and added following code:

Get Rid Of Rounded Corners In Flash Flv Player Skin?
Hi,

I'm using Flash CS3 on Mac OS X creating a couple of clips. Regretfully,
the default flv player skins in CS3 all have rounded bottom corners. As
the site's entire layout is very "square", these corners are standing
out like sore thumbs.

I suspect that there has to be a parameter somewhere within the swf-file
that takes care of this, but I haven't a clue, really.

Can someone please explain how to make the corners square shaped?

Player Skin Doesnt Show When Run On Server
Hey folks,
I have a flash 8 video (flv) thats called through the video component in a SWF file.

The swf displays the skin correctly when used both standalone, and from within a web page locally.

The skin simply doesnt appear when I run the same files from the server ...any idea what on earth is goin on here?

Flash Video Not Fitting In Skin Player
Hi. I downloaded the flash video list player and adjusted the size to play my clips. but the clips are being resized and cropped when it plays? Can anyone help? I'm baffled and frustrated (new to flash)

Flash Video Player: Why Doesn't The Playback Skin Show When Autohide Is On?

I've created an SWF file to play my FLV file and I've set the playback skin to 'AutoHide: True" - when I watch the SWF in stand-alone, the menu appears when I hover over the video, yet when I look at it in HTML, the menu doesn't appear!?

Flash Player Unloading Problem Solution - Is This Overkill?
i made my navigation buttons load a swf (into level 11) .
in the first frame, the new swf unloads every level that i use on my site (about 12 levels)- except level 0.

the second frame calls a new html page with a new swf (the one that the user wanted from the menu) loaded on level 0.

is this overkill?

it makes my music not glitch, so it's working,i just wonder if it slows things down, plus evertime i add a new level to a swf, i have to update the unloader swf.

any ideas?

My Custom Player Is Now 99% Complete, Just One Details Is Missing
Hi all,

So my player is almost complete. I built it following a tutorial found on Lynda.com

The one thing that is not working is that the video starts automatically and it shouldn't. I might be wrong but i think the problem lies in the play/pause edit panel, here is a screenshot:

Even in the tutorial the teacher put a stop script so that playback is initiated by the audience. That's what the "stop" script is about but the movie still plays automatically when I test it

Any thoughts??

Time Stamp, Progress Play Bar Missing From Player
For some reason, the time stamps and play bar are missing from my videos when I view them online, though they are there when I view locally.

Loading An Exteral Swf Into "Flash Media Player" Skin
Hi all,

Simple question i suppose....

Is it possible to load an external SWF into a "youtube/media" like video player.

When i say external i mean from another website.

I'm at work and we have a supplier that hosts a SWF on there site and i would like to import that into a video play view application. So it has the play, stop, pause and sound control etc.

Flash Components Skin Laid Out On Flash Player
When i test movie from flash cs3 all looks nice and clean, but when i run swf in flash player 9, components skin is laid down, but not as it is show in fla.

Missing Fonts (but Not Missing)
Hi,
I'm working with MX on Mac.
I got some PC FLAs that shows the "missing fonts" error message when opened.

I searched the whole FLAs for textfields using the "missing" fonts, but there are none!
Using the movie explorer I also can't find textfields or anything using the missing fonts!

Whats going on? Are the FLAs corrupt?

I have a problem. I use some fonts on my flash site and everything works fine on my computer. But when I open the same site on another computer where the fonts are missing, it replace the fonts with common ones.

Help With Skin
Is there any way that the swf file can load variables from the HTML page it is in? I need the flash to retrieve the variables from the page which it is placed in, and I cannot use the param name tags, instead I can only use the &variablename=blahblahblah technique as it is more user-friendly. The filename of the HTML page will also change, anyone knows how to transfer the variables in an easier way without server-side scripting?

hi,

To play a video in flash using actionscript (which loads at runtime), you drag a new video clip from the library to the stage.
Then you can create buttons to play, stop etc.

The problem is I wan to create professional buttons on the video clip instead of my own sloppy efforts.
Can I use a pre-made skin for the video somehow in actionscript?Like the one you use in FLVPlayback component.

how do I make 2 TileList skins look different in 2 separate SWF's but they are loaded into the same loader SWF?

right now, they look different when I test them separate, but when they load into the loader, they have THE SAME SKIN! HELP!!!!!

I Want To Add A Counter To My Skin
I have Flash 8 Pro. I am a newbie learning how to make progressive streaming videos for my web site. I have selected a skin from the provided templates and have successfully created my SWF file. However, I am clueless as to the rest of the functions in Flash 8.

Now I want to add a counter to my skin that shows minutes/ seconds passed and total minutes/seconds of the video. I have seen this on players around the web but I cannot figure out how this is done in Flash 8 Pro.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Custom Flv Skin
Hi,
I want to add a differnt flv skin, one that does not come with flash CS 3. When I pick the "add custom skin URL" and I pick http://localhost/myskin.swf I get the following error:

Error #2044: Unhandled skinError:. text=Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::AVM1Movie@c55c791 to flash.display.Sprite.

I also tried to put everything in the same folder without the url, but still get this error. Am I doing something really wrong? Does anybody know how this is done? Also, how to I use the debugger in Flash CS 3 to find out what AVM1Movie@c55c791 means?

I Want The Button Skin How To Get It Though...?
Hi,

Rather than reskinning a button, I actually want to take the skin from the standard component button for use on my own button. I'm not sure how though...

Why you ask? Because the removeMovieClip action fails when a button component is on stage (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowle...cfm?id=tn_19435).

I would create my own button similar but when I use the curved edge on a rectangle, it pixelates.

So if anyone could please help me get this skin off the button, or perhaps there's a similar button around that would be great!
