Speeding Up Movie Clip Frame Rates
Hi, I was wondering there there was an action script command that would make a certain movie clip play faster or slower, and then maybe apply it onto a button so that when you click it, it makes the movie clip play faster. Any suggestion that can make the movie go faster or slower would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Speeding Up A Movie Clip
I have an imported rotating logo (from swift 3D)
i want it to rotate in flash like it does, but i want it to speed up.
Is there a way i can make the movie clip gradually speed up.
ie: gradually increase the frame rate of the movie clip while the movie stays at the same speed. ????
Movie Frame Rates
wondering, Does prefer whole
frame rates. As in 12 fps, as opposed to 12.5 fps.
Have some .mov at 12.5fps, (half pal) and from what i have read when importing video in mx you should match flash's frame rate to the imported movie.
However I am having problems with the final flash movie losing the audio synch real bad by the end of the movie, (seems to be a MX specialty?) and this is playing at 12fps. If i change the flashmovie rate to 12.5 fps, it gets MUCH worse!>?
Any one know if i am breaking a cardinal rule by using 12.5?
Am off to split the video/audio tracks up and see if that fix's me synch probs.
any thoughts welcome
Different Frame Rates In A Movie?
Can we have different frame rates in a movie? For example I want my main movie to play at 12 fps, but I want a movieclip to play at 48 fps in this movie.
Is there a way to achieve this?
Different Frame Rates In One Movie
Hi there... have a flash movie at 18 frames p/s, have had to embed video which is at 25 frames p/s (obviously this means that the video itself is slower than the sound). Is there any way i can use action script to control the frame rate of a movie - have it at 18 fps for a certain amount of frames, then up to 25 fps for the next couple of frames, and then back down to 18fps??
Any help would b greatly appreciated.

Different Frame Rates For Movie Clips
Hi,
I am working on an animation where i am using various movie clips. i was wondering if there is a possiblity to play the movie clips with different frame rates, although within one main movie. lets say i want to overlay two of the movieclips but i want them to move in different speed, how do i do that best?
i did the movieclips in a different flash movie using a different frame rate and then importing it into the main movie but they move in the same pace and speed (general rate of 12 fps). i am sure there is a possiblity to do that so please help!
thanks a lot,

Setting Different Frame Rates In A Movie Or......?
Hi
I'm working on a flash site that has different animations and I'm using the typewritter effect for most of the text in the site. The effect though is is tweening the text and the text appears blurry and I've no idea how to fix that.
So I found this tutorial about the same effect but with dynamic text and the effect is produced clearly with actionscript. That way the text is not blurry.
But I have another problem now - the first typewriter effect that I used (the tweening part) allowed me to control the speed of the text - the second one depends on the frame rate of the movie and it needs a really high frame rate like 30 fps! But the movies I use work normally with 8 fps and I need all animations to work normally!
So is there a way to make the text type faster (maybe by setting a different frame rate just for that part?)?
Or it would save me from trouble if there was a way to get the text from the first typewriter effect to show normal instead of blury.
Here are the tutorials I worked with:
First typewriter effect (with blury text)

Second typewriter effect with actionscript and no blur:

Independent Frame Rates Within A Movie
Yes I know, before you all start scalding me, this subject has been posted a hundred times, and yes I also posted in the ‘back end’ and 'games' forums ; but I have yet to see a conclusive answer or find a post or the code that does what I want to do.
I have a master clip/movie running at 36fps, and want to embed external clips that run at 18fps. Obviously they want to run at 36fps, but that’s no good to me.
I’ve seen many posts saying it’s impossible and others such as the following http://www.flashkit.com/board/showt...ame+rates+movie that says it is. However neither method worked for me (maybe I’m just being dumb).
I have to publish the main movie as Flash 5, and ideally don’t want to have to edit the external swf’s due to missing fonts – if need be I will, but I’d rather not hehe.
Sooooo, can anyone put me out of my misery? Shoot me, or squirt a lemon in my eye? All help greatly appreciated
Question On Movie Frame Rates
Hi there and thanks for reading my post
I am after a way to make a loaded movie run at a faster frame rate than the root movie. I have a simple movie and halfway into it I load a movie into level 5 and it plays perfectly, however I would really like to have the loaded movie play at a faster rate then the root movie?
maybe someone knows of some script i can use to control the movie, maybe add it to the loadmovie script to make it run quicker?
Any comments are greatly appreciated as always
Cheers

Separate Frame Rates In Movie Clips
I want to run a movie clip in a particular frame of another movie, but I want the clip to run at a different frame rate to the movie overall. Is this possible?
I've tried looking on the help stuff (I'm new to the flash game) but quite frankly it's rubbish.
Go easy on the tech jargon!
Hopefully this isn't too stupid a question to get some help on!
Thanks
Looping Movie Clips With Dynamic Frame Rates
Hello-
I have a question. I am new to programming, Flash, and actionscript - so bear with me. I am trying to create a game with 3 different levels of difficulty. To do so, I need to create a movie clip with three different frame rates (essentially - three different movie clips). I got a great script somewhere to enable me to do this. It goes in the first frame of the movie clip whose frame rate is to be adjusted. Here it is:
function timelineFaster() {
nextFrame();
updateAfterEvent();
}
var tweenFaster:Number = setInterval(timelineFaster, 42);
(The "42" in the last line can be adjusted to make the timeline go faster or slower). Anyway - my question/problem is this: When I put this code in the first frame of my movie clip, the movie clip no longer loops. Can anyone send me the code I need to add to this frame that will allow the movie clip to loop? I believe this is probably an easy fix, but as I said - I am a babe in the woods when it comes to Flash, actionscript, and programming. I hope someone can post/send the code I need to force my movie clip to loop. Thanks!
Monica
Speeding Up Frame Rate
i think it's possible, but not sure how...if i have a box moving across the screen from one side to the other, and i want it to get faster as it gets closer to the edge of the screen, how do i do this?
Frame Rate Speeding Up
My main movie loads a swf file (that loads another swf) into a blank movie clip target. The result plays in the main movie way to fast. Any ideas?
Here's a quick illustration
Main FLA -> loads SWF #1 into blank movie -> loads SWF#2 into blank movie.
All frame rates are 24 fps but the result is definately NOT 24 fps.
Speeding Up The Frame Rate
I know this has been covered before, and I've looked through many threads, but I can't get a clear answer.
How do you speed up (or slow down) the Frame Rate of your swf with ActionScript?
Speeding Movieclip Till Selected Frame.
Righte oh. Im trying to do it so when a a buttons switched on itll speed g_Gradiant till frame 500 then stop. Then vis versa with if commands so when its off itll speed up till it hits frame 1000 of g_Gradiant. Many many codes later ive failed and toddled over here. Any help will be great thx.
Code:
function playUntilDay(Dayframe:Number):Void {
g_Gradiant.onEnterFrame = function() {
g_Gradiant.gotoAndPlay(g_Gradiant._currentframe+10);
if (g_Gradiant._currentframe == Dayframe) {
delete g_Gradiant.onEnterFrame;
stop();
}
};
}
function playUntilNight(Nightframe:Number):Void {
g_Gradiant.onEnterFrame = function() {
g_Gradiant.gotoAndPlay(g_Gradiant._currentframe+10);
if (g_Gradiant._currentframe == Nightframe) {
delete g_Gradiant.onEnterFrame;
stop();
}
};
}
//
mc_Bulb.onPress = function() {
if (mc_Bulb._currentframe == 2) {
mc_Bulb.gotoAndStop(1);
playUntilNight(500);
} else if (mc_Bulb._currentframe == 1) {
mc_Bulb.gotoAndStop(2);
playUntilDay(1);
}
};
Urh thought i cracked it yet no luck. Seems it still doesnt wanna stop and the stated frames.
Frame Rates
I was wondering if there is a way to use action script and change the frame rate of a movie clip. I'm working on animating a belt driven adjustable center pully system. So kind of like the gears on a bike. When you shift either up or down you can go faster or slower. ( essentially ). I have a movie clip of a spinning disk that's connected to the main pully thing. I want to be able to show the change in the speed that this disk is rotating depending on where the pully lies in it's adjustments. ( whoa .. hope that makes some sense? )
Thanks

Frame Rates?
Is it possible to load a swf into another swf and have them both playing at different frame rates?
For example... I have my main movie...it runs at 40 fps... if I "loadMovie" a movie with 20 fps... what hasppens? Do they both run at different speeds?
Thanx

Frame Rates
I have a small anim, that i wnat to flicker very fast. I have achieved the speed i need by changing the frame rate of the movie, is there any other way I can dictate the speed of a particular movie clip without having to play with the actuall movie fram rate.

Frame Rates.
to try and learn stuff, i go to different sites that have flash and try to copy certain effects and things done to the site. one thing i have noticed though is that mine always look a lot more choppy than whatever site i am working with. is this because it's done on a higher frame rate and spread over moer frames? if so, what are good framerates to use for websites? is there a number that works better than other ones? (i.e. - getting the best speed without decreasing performance)
i was also wondering how fast it CAN go without making the file run slow on someone elses computer. or will this be effected by it at all?
thanks for your help,
Josh
Frame Rates......
I have a movie that is over 300K and I've triing to reduce its size.
my frame rate was 31fps
I dropped it to 12fps.
But the size is the same?
Is that normal? I thought that would have dropped the movie size in half?
Any Ideas?
Thanks

Is it possible to change frame rates from one Scene to the next in MX?!
Frame Rates
couple questions, first, what is a standard frame rate for most high animation flash sites...is their one?
also when i increase my frame rate past around 80 and then increase the length of my animations i get a problem with the movement. it goes smoothly for half of the animation then begins to jitter.
can anyone suggest a fix for this .
thx

I've changed the frame rate of one swf to 48fps from 12fps. When I load this swf into an empty move clip in another swf the frame rate goes back to 12fps, but stays at 48fps when I load the swf on its own. Is this because the movie with the empty movie clip has a frame frame rate of 12fps? If so is is possible to pay a swf inside a swf with a different frame rate?
Thanks

i thought i read somewhere that with mx you can have a MC with a frame rate that differes from the main movie's frame rate. is that true and has anyone done it?
HELP NOW Frame Rates?
When ever I export a movie to .swf file it plays at the regular frame rate (I set it to 30 fps).
But when I publish it and view it on a Internet explorer browser it plays way slower.
No matter how big I make the movie it plays slow.
Ive changed the size from 550 x 400 to 200 x 200 and it still plays slow.
Is there something Im doing wrong in the publish settings area?
Ive fooled around with those settings also but I've had now luck.
Can someone please help me.
Im currently using Flash MX 2004.
Thanks.

Different Frame Rates
Hi all
I have an swf running at fps 12 at level 0. This loads a series of swf's at level 1, all with different frame rates. Am I right in thinking that the loaded movies will all run at 12 frames per second?
Is there anyway I can get them to run at there own individual frame rates?
Thanks

I'm authoring a music interface that when I click a button, an mp3 loop will start, also another animation will start that will look like the lights on a graphic equalizer that go up and down with the beat of the music.
I will be using about 8 of these light sets and they will need to be at different speeds. How do I set these diferent speeds for each as it seems that when I mport them they use the frame rate for the main interface?

Avg Frame Rates
Most of the flash sites I see these days have a lot of smooth animations and are able to make things flash and tween very well. I've been sing 20fps since I started flash, I'm not sure how much higher to go without making it too high for most PCs.
Just wondering what the average frame rates these days are.
How I Can To Set The Frame/rates?
I have make a multimedia flash cd , and after if i put cd in a pc, that when go the frame rate change from pc to pc.
How can setting the frame rates stability in all pc who read my cd?
maybe exist a specify code .
Frame Rates
1.) I know in the past this was more of an issue with dial-up, though with the advent of broadband, is keeping the frame rate low really much of an issue anymore?
2.) How many frames per second are necessary to create fluid motion?
Thanks.
Different Frame Rates
I have a short simple animation running at 20 FPS.
my MC in my main timeline is only running at 3 FPS. My main clip has audio--- I really don't like thinking about working with almost 7 times the frames. My animation HAS to run at 20 FPS to make it believable so chopping that down is not an option either.
I have been reading some forum suggestions on this issue & by what I have read it looks there is a script or two out there that just might help me.
Which way do I choose & will it do what I think I am uderstanding, here are both
Script !:
----------------------------------------
setFPS = function(instance) {
instance.nextFrame(); };
setInterval(setFPS, 1000/25, this);
Script 2:
------------------------------------------
if (!init) {
init = true;
nFrame = theFPS = 24; // fps of the loader
this.stop();
this.onEnterFrame = function() {
// not yet return;
if (--nFrame) return;
if (this._currentFrame < this._totalFrames) {
this.nextFrame();
} else {
this.gotoAndStop(1); // to loop
// if you don't want to loop, you need to kill the onEnterFrame instead
// delete this.onEnterFrame
}
// reset frame counter
nFrame = theFPS;
} // end onEnterFrame
My questions:
Will these work for me?
Will they work with Flash 5 player?
I have limited knowledge of action script so I am trying to learn a little at a time as needed for what I am doing.
If either or is workable for what I have described could someone please enlighten me as to an explanation of the script. Understanding what it is doing will make it easier to broaden my knowledge of Action Script.
Thanks for your help

Frame Rates?
What would you say is the best frame rates for quality website designs but yet they load at a decent time. Keep in mind that I am going to have the choice of HTML or Flash before entering so this will be for highspeed users.
Frame Rates
I'm doing a complex animation and my animation is very chunky. I'm moving large jpgs around the screen calculating different ._x and ._y values
At a frame rate of 24 fps its too chunky . At the moment I'm using 64fps and it's fine but am I locking a lot of users out with this speed?

Is it possible to change the frame rate within one flash movie, i.e slow a part down but keep the rest fast.

LoadMovie And Having 2 Frame Rates
What I would like to do is this. I have a main movie. The main movies frame rate is 20. I would like to call another movie into it(i know this is possible). What I would like to know is if I can get the movie I am calling in to play at 8 frames per second instead of the main movies 20 fps. Is this possible. Thanks for your help.
Controlling Frame Rates - Help
If there any way i can alter the frame rate within a movie.
I have a 8 movies which show a sequence of images. It scrolls through the 8 frames in each movie and then starts again. I would like to slow the clips down each time they run (ie start @ 20fps and after running 20 times be down to 2 fps)
Any ideas
Varying Frame Rates
Is there a way to have to different frame rates in the same movie. Like if I wanted a movie clip to run at 12fps and the main timeline to run at 24 fps?
bulldog
Mixin Frame Rates
Is there any method to maintain a loaded clips frame rate if its a different frame rate than the _root clip's???
I have a clip running at 24fps (animation for CD, gotta look smooooth)and am loading in clips at 12fps. Would be nice to retain the loaded clips frame rate as they run too fast at 24fps.
As I type this, I really dont think this would be possible...But just maybe there is a script to adjust the frame rate of externally loaded clips. This would save alot of time converting all the loaded clips or making the _root a not so smooth 12fps.
Thanks in advance.....Cylon

Adjusting Frame Rates Or Something
Hi. I'm trying to make a "time lapse" camera. I'm going to have a bunch of images that are going to play back to back to back etc...
I want to be able to set the delay between each image dynamically via a slide bar or just a field with a number in it. Is there any way to adjust the frame rate of the movie via action script? or a way to set delay between each frame?
If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Scott
High Frame Rates?
I've been working on a project which incorporates a number of quick masking transitions. At 32 FPS (which is what I usually work at) the transitions look choppy to me. When I extend each transition from say 10 to 20 frames then bump the frame rate up to 60FPS (exceptionally high) the look is improved quite a bit.
I would love some feedback on what others are doing. I generally don't touch frame rates that high. How have your experiences with high frame rates panned out?
Thanks.
