Stereo Sound On Export Swf

When I export my swf to Dreamweaver for a music site and test it in Safari, the mp3 sound has been changed to mono and the sound quality is poor.... so I looked on my export settings and It won't let me use stereo for mp3s..... I'm still using MX 2004.... is any version of Flash stereo compatible? Or any other suggestions how to get stereo mp3s into my site besides just embedding them in the page?

Stereo Wav Not In Stereo In Flash Pls Help..
Hey Everyone,

I created a sound file in PT and exported it as a stereo surround file (voices can be heard in the right and left channels) and when i tested it in winamp in my headphones and speakers, it was exactly how it was supposed to be.

The problem came, when i imported the sound file into flash to synchronize it with my animation. I imported it to its own sound layer and it matches up with the mouths moving and the actions of the animation but i noticed that it smashes the stereo voices into mono! it makes it sound really crappy too because it wasn't setup to be mono.

Why does Flash do this? Am I not marking a certain setting? Am I importing the sound wrong? Why doesn't it play like it plays in winamp? I don't understand why it would change..it should stay in stereo if thats what kind of file it is in the first place...

Any help on this would be MUCH much appreciated..

thanx..

Mono Vs Stereo
I have some sounds in mono. I want those sounds to play in different speakers. I have used setPan but to no effect. Which i later figured out to be because they are mono. How can i turn these into stereo sounds so that i can use setPan on them.

e.g
man on right of screen fires gun - bullet sound in right.
man on left of screen fires gun - bullet sound in left.

I have looked at setTransform. But don't understand how to use it and where. Do I use it at start of game to set up mono sounds as stereo sounds. Or do I use it all the way through my scripting. (game this is for is at http://www.doms.150m.com/West_Stick.swf) - (any ideas on a name for the game?????)

Exporting As Stereo?
Jeez... who'da thought it was this hard! Or maybe I'm just stupid... REGARDLESS... I can't seem to figure out how to export the flash movie as a stereophonic file. Like: it's all fine and dandy inside flash--I can edit an audio clip of a guy running ... first panning it hard left to hard right... and therefore simulating this guy running from left to right of the screen. BUT... when I export that, it converts it to mono... so PLEASE!!!!! someone tell me how to do it? is it as simple as getting the exporting settings a certain way??? or do I actually hafta deal with actionscripting (I read a lil something about soundset.transform ... but I hope action scripting aint the only way... ) and I hear there's someway to export it as a mono file, while still maintaining these stereophonic qualities (i.e. panning from left to right) ... so PLEASE!! instruct this hapless fool... tell me what to do!

Car Stereo Interface
Hello all, I work for a fairly high end automotive radio supplier, and there is some debate as to whether Flash or Flash Lite can be used within an car audio system. The system contains radio, navigation, jukebox, bluetooth, and a myriad of other features. But the system lacks the subtle nuance and crisp display features that Flash is capable of displaying.

The Question is: Has anyone in this forum heard of an OEM using flash in their radio design? and if not, is there a consensus regarding the feasibility of such an interface? I am primarily a front end designer, and am working on a simulated interface to pitch to my superiors, but if it's not yet possible (as we all know it someday will be) I can shelve my work and wait for the prime shot.

Thanks for all suggestions and shared knowledge.

Export Sound Lag
Hey, I'm the animator at my comedy site and I have just finished our latest cartoon (quite a long one too). I've spent nearly a month working on it and perfecting and one of the main things I've spent time on was the lip syncing... I nearly went insane listening to the lines over and over to match their mouths to the sounds. But, this afternoon I finished it all. So, with great excitement I exported it and uploaded it onto my site. I gave it a test play and the most HORRIBLE thing I could imagine happened... all the animations have lagged. The sound plays at the correct time but the animations are too slow... I checked the cartoon in Flash and it matched perfectly.

Does anyone know how to fix this, pleassse. I think I may go nuts if you tell me it's unaviodable...

Could anyone tell me the sound format (both during recording as well as flash export settings) I should follow to keep my file size small and also the sound quality ok. If any one of you tried some other software for sound editing which have some special feature to do so let me know.

Sound Drops Out On Export
hoping someone here might be able to help

working in Flash MX on a Mac (exporting to Flash5)

I've got a mp3 soundfile (made in Garageband and converted into mp3 in itunes) which is 10 minutes long and is broadly speaking a music file

the sound plays fine within flash and I have it set to stream so that it is synched up with my animation

when I test movie or publish - something very peculiar happens the sound retains its duration and sync with the animation BUT at intermittent intervals throught its length it seems to be selectively editing out bits of the sound (mostly the voice track and an one occasion an ambient bit of water/wild sound recording -)

- does anybody have any thoughts on how to remedy this?

I've tried various options in terms of compression settings including no compression at all - i've even tried it without any other animation on the timeline - so its not a loading problem

it also happens if the sound file is an aiff by the way

any thoughts/suggestions gratefully received

[CS3] [AS3] Export Sound In 2nd Frame
Ok so I'm working on a flash movie that uses a sound file, I have a preloader that preloads everything before going to the 2nd frame. My problem is that the sound file is being loaded in the first frame and therefore makes the viewer wait until they see the preload bar. Under the "Linkage Properties" for the sound file I unchecked "Export In First Frame" and under the "Publish Settings" I set classes to export in frame 2. But when I did this I get 2 errors saying...

1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Chimes.
1180: Call to a possibly undefined method Chimes.

How do I fix this?

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm going crazy trying to find a solution..

Export Sound- Linkage
Ok i have a layer on my movie dedicated to music. I placed sound in, editted length etc. Now, I have it streaming and when I export the movie it is only 150k with a full movie and .mp3, great. When i go into library and click linkage export on the music symbol it makes it 7000k, why does it do this and does it make a difference exporting the symbol because I can hear the sound over the internet without having to export the symbol? What is the purpose of exporting the sound through library under linkage anyways?

Export Sound On Second Frame?
Hi there-

I'm having a bit of a problem when it comes to attaching some music to a game I have created. When the linkage for the sound is set to Export for Actionscript and Export on first frame, it creates a very very large first frame which takes ages to download and ages for the pre-loader to even show up (the screen just looks white for a long time).

In an attempt to fix this, I originally un-checked Export on the first frame, but now my music doesn't start when I want it to as I'm assuming it is exporting when I want it to be playing. Is it possible to create a script that will tell it to export on the second frame, so that at least the pre-loader will be visible as it exports?

Thanks - Jessie

Sound Export Problems
Hi,

I'm having problems with some professionally recorded sound files in Flash. The files are aiff. I originally tried using Mp3's but was having major export issues. Everything works great until I export the file. Once its been exported a slight cracking noise can be heard if the volume is turned up. The cracking isn't there when you listen to the audio track in the library or before its been imported.

Here's my settings.

In the properties pane each sound file is set to stream and repeat once. There are no events attached. 44Khz, 16 bit, 18.4 s, 3252.1KB

In the library the sound does not have export settings attached. It's using the default.

In the export box, my audio stream is set to ADPCM, 44kz, 5 bit, mono. Audio event has been disabled and override sound settings is checked. I'm exporting for Flash player 6 (client's request).

I tried different audio stream settings and the audio sounded low quality or there was more static/ odd background noise.

Help!!!

Thanks.

Sound - Linkage - Export For Actionscript
Hey,
question-
-if i have a sound in my library that i want to export to be able to call with actionscript, is there a way for it to work WITHOUT having to export to the first frame?
I'm wanting to call the sound on a button press.

If it has to be done this way, i can make a preloader mivie separate to avoid the lag on preload, but just wanna make sure i'm learning as i go.

BTW-
- i do know that i can add sound in the authoring tool when i make my buttons, but i'm experimenting a little. I have one button that is the white key of a piano and one that is the black key. I used several instances of the one symbol to make a keyboard and have recorded a full octave range of a piano. I wanna try to attach the sound thru script on each of the instances to call the appropriate sound. On release, the sound will stop. Same would be true for rollOver and rollOut

thanks,
-myk

Sound Control In Quicktime Export
Hi, I have a flash movie with a sound file on the main timeline.
It needs to be exported as a quicktime file.
The controls are very basic(the 'play' button uses the play(); command and the 'pause' button uses the stop(); command).
The problem is that I no longer have sound once I pause, then unpause the movie(everything else works fine).
I normally would just create a sound object and control it that way but as far as I can tell, quicktime doesn't support that feature yet(I get the "the installed version of QuickTime does not have a handler..." pop-up whenever I attempt to publish)so I'm forced to put the sound directly onto the main timeline.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Export To First Frame & Dynamic Sound
Hi all.

In my projects the main fla is set to Export classes to frame 10 and exported symbols are placed in frame 20 to allow the preloader to be showed correctly.

1) If i disable Export to first frame for exported sounds they doesn't work.
2) If i enable Export to first frame for exported sounds they work correctly.
3) If i disable Export to first frame for exported sounds and i drag them on the frame 20 where there are all other exported symbols they work correctly but i need a level for every sound.

The right case is the 2 or I am omitting something?

[F8] Sound Linkage Problems - Export In First Frame
My problem is this...

I am manipulating sounds using actionscript in flash mx. To do this i am using the library linkage options 'export for actionscript' and 'export in first frame' in conjunction with a movie that has a 'preloader' scene.

If i select 'export in first frame' then my sounds clips load before my movie's preloader starts. This results in an unwanted delay before my preloader scene is downloaded. But if i deselect 'export in first frame' then I can't get the sounds to play when my full movie starts after the loading has finished. I just don't hear anything at all

basically, I don't understand how to get my sounds to play if 'export in first frame' is not selected. Do you have to manually export the sound clip or somthing if this option is not used? if so how?

i already tried to place the Sound physicaly in timeline inside a mocieclip.

i got it working for movieClips by placing them somewhere outside of the stage, but not sounds !

PS : i dont like to load the sounds from another swf. its not a good way.

Thanks.

Hello. i use MX (6) ver. of Flash and I am working on slide show with sound background. I use attache sound method to play sounds. But.

Attached sound work only when i allocate

-Export in first Frame.
And problem is all lincked sounds starts loading in very begin. So my preloader doesnot work well. Cuz preloader starts work only when sounds are loaded. To escape this problem i could not allocate -Export in first Frame. But in this case attache sound method doesnot work.

I see only one exit now. Create preloader and main movie in different swf but it is not i really want. How to use attach sound method with linked sounds but do not allow them load in first frame?

Have Internal Sound Files NOT Export On First Frame?
This is an interesting dilemma. I created a drum machine type application that has about fifty or so audio samples which are pulled out of the library using the attachSound method. I am trying to preload the whole flash movie which is some 4mbs in size. The problem I am having is that flash is exporting all of the sound files into the first frame of the movie which of course is defeating my preloader... When I deselect "export in first frame" from the linkage identifier, flash ignores the sound files and does not export them at all.. With all the "export in first frames" delected, the flash movie is 360K...

does this make sense?? anyone have any suggestions??

How can I tell flash to export my sound files from the library to a frame other than frame 1?? or is this not possible and should I employ another method??

thanks in advance.

Bizarre Sound Distortion On Export - Not Newbie Compression Issue
I'm trying out the Flash CS3 demo - OSX. (Using OSX 10.4.10.)

I've got a slightly complicated timeline with about 8 layers and some things alpha fading in and out, and a bunch of sound samples being used as timeline sound effects (forget the term, but attached to frames not streaming). No scripting.

The sounds are mostly too long for the amount of time allotted to them in the timeline, and cut previous sounds off. I'm speculating this might be a possible issue. That is, I have say a 5 second sound, which has only 3 seconds of time to play, before another sound interrupts it in the same timeline layer.

There are two separate layers of sound playing at the same time.

All the original sounds are imported into the movie as 44.1/16bit AIFFs. They are mono files (might be another possible issue).

I'm trying to export with quality of 128k MP3. I've been trying different variations:

- setting the compression for the audio files in the Library/setting movie export settings to use Library settings

- setting audio files in the Library to use "default compression", and specifying the correct 128k MP3 setting in the export settings

- or both of these (set individually in library, then overridden in export settings).

I've tried with and without the "use mono" setting (both in Library files and export settings). (This is a question for me: what should be the correct setting for that when the original file already is mono?)

Sometimes everything's great. I test or export the movie and the sound is fine.

Other times I test or export the movie -- with exactly the same audio settings as the last time when it worked -- and now get unbearably hideous hissing/cracking instead of the correct sound.

Most dangerously -- I think but haven't quite convinced myself -- the same flash export file may sometimes play fine, and sometimes play with the distortion. So I'm not sure if this is an export issue, Flash player issue, or combination of export doing something semi-weird that the player only sometimes chokes on. A "bad" export is distorted both in the desktop Flash player that comes with the Flash demo, and in a browser with Flash plugin 9 r45 (OSX).

GUH!

And this is the $800 product which is little more than a basic text editor for scripting and an animation timeline that hasn't gotten updated functionality since 1999.
