TEXT CHANGING, When I Copy And Paste Text Scroller, And Add New Text......?
here's the problem:
I have a text scroller I took from a fla. file on here.
on my site, I wanted to just change the text. in the text scroller, and
place it in diffrent sections of my site a number of times with diffrent text.
I do not have a problem, copying and pasting the scroller.
But when I change the text from one section, to the next, it will make all the text the same.
If I copy the scroller and paste it somewhere else, swap the text it will change all to that last text I entered.
I tried, typing one section's text. Then copy/pasting the scroller, and putting new text, and converting that text to a symbol (graphic). Hoping it would work but had no LUCK.
This is huge and i need help, considering I am a newbie, there has got to be away this can be accomplished so I dont have to build seperate text holders/scroller, for all 15 sections of my site.

Cannot Paste Text Into Action For Text Scroller-i Get An Error

ok hehe can anyone tell me whats going on here??? I am using a pritty cool little text scroller and need to use about 10 versions of the same one im doing in a flash file..so about on 10 different scenes.Anyhow for some reason this text here works when i copy it into the action for the text scroller:

Greek Copy And Paste Text
Hi! i´m doing a bilingual site, i made the english part, and now i need to do the greek part, i have all the text on a word document... when i try to copy/paste the greek text from the word document to flash (using an arial greek font) it gives me a bunch on interogation signs...no the greek characters, Someone knows how i can copy paste the info into flash? Copy Paste And Plain Text Alignment
Everyone is probably already aware of this, but I just learned about it yesterday.
I have been having trouble getting my text to maintain Plain Text formatting when I copy/pasted text into Flash.
The text I copied into Flash did not maintain the same spacing as the source I was copying it from.
The solution.. Use Courier Font. That is all it took. As soon as I used Courier, the spaces and format was maintained.
Just thought I would share since I was pulling my hair out re-aligning my text everytime I pasted text into Flash.

Flash CS3 - Lagging When Copy/paste Text HELP
Hi All,
This is a first post for me here so hopping to get a response soon please!
In a position where I need some urgent help - we have a large flash site we have nearly finished developing but Flash CS3 is starting to present some serious lagging problems.
When we copy/paste text from another location - i.e. internet browser or MS word, the timeline experiences major lagging issues when attempting to use the slidder.
It's killing us in teh final stage and I really want to erradicate the issue - Have tried CS3 on XP and Vista and still get the same problem. Have also tried a new .FLA and same thing..

Changing Text In A Text Scroller
I have downloaded a text scroller and am trying to use it in a site I am developing.
The scroller is a group of nested Movie Clips...the path is like this:
the_complete_scroller.sec2.the_text
(I'm unsure what sec2 means but it appears to be an area for the text to scroll in (it sets the width and height of the viewable area)
What I am trying to do is to change the text that appears in the scroller, dependant on the link that is clicked in the scene.
Is there a way that I can change the text without having to duplicate the whole scroller?? I thought it would be possible to pull the scroller onto the stage a second time, onto a new layer, and then replace 'the_text' with 'the_text2' but it seems to change the original scroller as well.

Text Scroller Help - Scroller Won't Scroll Full Length Of Text?
I have a text scroller that calls for a external text file. I have 16 numbered items in the .txt file but only 12 items will scroll. Why is this and how do I fix it? Also, is there any way to format text in the .txt file so that it appears formatted in flash? Right now there is a bunch of spaces between the numbered items. Thanks anyone!!
HELP Can't Import Text, Or Even Paste Text
Hey,
I'm having a problem at work.
The boss is wanting me to design a webpage and has given me the relevant text and pictures, but for some reason Flash MX won't import the text or even paste it!
Work here is a bit backward in only having Windows 98SE, and I'm using Flash MX Professional 2004 (Version 7.0).
I have tried importing the text as a Word .doc (which didn't work), then cutting and pasting in a Notepad document to remove all formatting and saving as plain txt.
None of it works.
Flash tells me, "The import did not finish because an unknown error occured"
I can't even copy the text and paste it in Flash!
What's going wrong?

Loss Of Text Formatting When Using Dynamic Text Field & Scroller
Hi all,
Using MX...
Another small problemo im having is when i format text in my dynamic text field and attch the scroller component to it, in preview mode i lose all the text format and it goes to the first text format it encounters and uses that for everything else in the dynamic text box.
Im not actually loading any text into the dynamic text box, im just using it with static text, so i can use the scroller component.(as i understand it, you can only attach the scroller component to a dynamic text box ??)
Why am i losing my text format AND is there a better way to have a scrolling text field when i just want to use static text...???

Dynamic Text Scroller (text Crawler?) NOT WORKING?
Hi, I am trying to make a movie that gets text from an external text file, and then scrolls it horizontally across the screen. I made a function that takes the object (movie clip with text) and moves it across the screen. it works fine except if the text is more than the width of the text field, i get this nasty trailing effect. it really sucks!
does anyone know a good way to do this? i would also like to be able to have mulitple texts, following eachother, and then looping to start over.
any info would be greatly appriciated!

In the galleries, I have text I am adding to a movieClip. I have been able to add the description text, change it's colour, but the font and size are not responding. I'm using FlashMX2004. Can anyone show me what I'm doing wrong? Here's the pertinent code:

Changing Text Inside A Text Field, Bold/Italic/Underline Ect ...
Is it possible to change the appearance of text inside a text field, like say to bold, italic, underline, color and even a type of font if need be ... ?
Example:
Like say you have text field, and you have some option buttons, (bold/italic/underline/color/type-of-font) that when clicked on will dynamicaly change the text/font appearance in the text field.

Dynamic Text/scroll Bar Component Changing Text Formatting
I would apologise if this has been answered before but I have done a quick search & was unable to resolve it & I'm up against a dead line.
I have a dynamic text field onto which I have placed a scroll bar component problem I have got is that the dynamic field has now lost all of it's formating -the header was orginally slightly larger & of a different font.
Anyone please tell me how to resolve this.

Text Scroller - Adjusting Scollbar As Text Changes

The movie is dead simple, when you reach a certain point in the timeline, the text changes.
Unfortunately, in my second text file the content is much shorter but the scrollbar does not adjust to the size of the new text - it just remains the size of the first one. Even though the text doesnt move, the scrollbar can still be pulled up and down.
If I change the text files around so that the smaller one opens first, then I get no scrollbar at all for either.
Any suggestions as to sorting this problem out - puh-lease.... thanks.

If I have say a variable called myVariable and the text is blue is there any way you can get that variable to change colour for a certain value?
so for myVariable = 2, its red myVariable = 3, green
that sort of thing, anybody know any snippet of code that does this?
I know I could rig something up using movieclips to do this, but I'd prefer a simpler method really.
Changing Text Spacing On Input Text Fields
It appears to me that the text spacing tool ( AV ) in the properties inspector does not work on input text fields. All other tools do seem to work though.
I'm creating a form to be used by a classroom instructor to show students how each of the 200+ input text fields should be filled in. The months, days and years are individual cells. Currently, for the date cells, you must click on each cell, type in the number, click on the next cell, type in the number, etc. It would be nice to avoud the mouse click between theses inputs.
What I would like to do is spread out an input text field that will accept 4 characters (for the year). The character spacing is needed to align the characters up with the graphical input blocks.
Any ideas?

Why Can't I Paste Text?
So I have this mailform that is - essentially - functioning. With one exception: I can't paste any text into its input text boxes (name, email & comments). I mean I can just fine when I test the file on the desktop but the minute swf ends up on the web that ability is lost.

Let's say I have a button and when I click it it populates myText.htmlText with some words. Such as "This is Flash. Click for more." When you click for more I want the current myText.htmlText to display additional text in the same area. Just like going to a new page. Does that make sense? Is that even possible?

hi, all i want to know is if there is any way in which you can modify the text in an input text box... eg: the user types in 'hello bob' into a text box named encoder, and then clicks a button that should change the text to say '08-05-12-12-15-/02-15-02'
aka. the corresponding number for each letter of the alphabet in the text box and then add a dash after each letter, and spaces become slashes etc.
i have figured out what each letter and bit of punctuation should be, but when i tried to code it, it thinks i am refering to a text box instance named 'a' or something... any way to actually change each letter individually inside the text box???
Changing Text Box Size To Fit Text Problem
Is there a way in which I can have ActionScript change the height of a text box to fit the text? Or, which would work just as well, is there a way in which ActionScript can find where the text in a text box stops and give it an "_y" variable?
I'm going to have two text boxes in white the text will be changing every time the movie clip they're nested in is used. What I'm looking for is a way for ActionScript to see how tall one text box is and change the Y position of the second text box to be right up under the first one. I know I can change the Y position with simply making the "_y" value equal whatever a variable is. All I need is either a way for flash to detect the height of the text or for it to automatically size the text box to fit the text so I can get it's height via a simple "_height" command.
Anyone know if this is possible?

I'm doing some effects to the text after it is loaded and formed, that is why everything is embedded into 'message_mc'.
Any thoughts as to what is wrong here?

Fmx2004pro Text-paste-problem
In MX2004pro, if i paste text from the clipboard into a textbox, the textbox jumps to the center of the screen. In the edit-menu only the command "paste in center" is available, there's no [normal] paste. Can't the textbox just keep its position while pasting text? that's odd! I must be overlooking something.
Trouble With Jumping Text When I Paste It
Hi.
I have a problem that has been bugging me for a long time now... It´s nothing crucial but it´s really getting on my nerves now. So if anyone can help, please respond.
Heres what happends:
1. I Place my first text where I want it to be.
2. When I want to edit the first text I copy+paste a new text from another document to replace the first text
3. The text then suddenly jumps to a new location, centered to the stage
This happens even if the text is placed within an mc or a tween.
Any ideas?
Unaliased Text In Text Scroller?
For some reason my text stays aliased in my text scroll box.
I've don't have aliasing on text under the view bar, and I've tried just about every option in properties.
What can I do to fix this?
