Targeting An Html Frame In Flash
so im using the basic GetUrl option with the site i want to load listed for 'URL' and the name of the frame i want to load in the 'window' box. the problem is. everytime i click the link(which is in my flash video of course) all it does it open a new web browser window loading the correct page instead of loading it to the frame it is supposed to. i cant understand why this is happening seing as ive read tutorials on how to do frames using a flash link and they all say to just use the basic GetUrl function and it should load the frame you are asking to load
if someone could help me get this straightened out id be greatful. thanks!

Hi I have a menu.swf file playing in a frame (menu) I want to click on a link and have it post in the right frame (fmain) I edit my link in the xml file and no mater what I do it post it in the menu frame. Any one have an idea?

Targeting A Frame In HTML
OK, I've come up with this idea to use 2 frames in my HTML document. The top would contain my Flash movie and the bottom wwould contain some loooooong text passages that my client wants. My question is:
how would I target a specefic frame on an HTML page? Would I use getURL if I wanted to target the bottom frame when my Flash is in the top frame? Thanks for any suggestions.

Targeting A Movie In Different Html Frame
Hello,
I'm stuck on this one. I'm using Dreamweaver and flash. My menu is in menu.htm and uses a flash animation as the interface. In my title bar (title.htm) there is flash animation. What I want to happen is that when a button is released in the menu bar it triggers the animation in the titleframe. I've tried a few things but cannot seem to properly target the movie in the title frame.

Problem Targeting Html-frame
I'm trying to figure out a dynamic menu posted on flashkit.
Everythings okay except when I try to target a html-frame. I can't use geturl command.

Targeting HTML Frame Using External AS
I'm using an external .as file so my client can easily change his link paths if he needs to. The flash buttons find the pages but pop them up in a new window as if it was an _blank target instead of the frame labled "content".
This is the code in the .as file

Targeting A Frame In A Swf From Another Swf File In Another Html Window
Hi everyone,
just can't seem to get this right!
I want to target a frame in a timeline in one swf from another swf file in another html window.
In other words, I have created and homepage with a long introduction, when you reach the end you can click on a button that opens up another browser with a swf full of timelines and frames. I want to be able to hit a back button I created that takes you to the last frame in the homepage (avoiding the long introduction).
I've been struggling with this for ages and it's driving me crazy. help!!!!!!!!

Hi all
Similar questions about framesets have already been answered and i understand how getURL works. I recently came up with this problem though:
My client wanted an intro page in flash that has some buttons. Each button must target a nested frame inside a frameset. (ie when someone clicks on "pictures" the frameset should open and in the main frame the "pictures" section should be loaded. In the top frame i have a flash navigation). I must stress that the flash intro runs before the frameset loads. Any ideas?

How do you target a Dreamweaver frame using Actionscript on a Flash button. I just can't get my buttons to work. I've entered the URL of the page that I want to load up, and in the 'window' field I entered mainFrame. But when I look at my site online and click on the Flash buttons it opens the page up but it fills the whole window rather than open up in the frame I'm targeting!!!

Targeting Flash Scenes In HTML
Is there a way in an HTML file to have links point to certain scenes in the flash movie? something like <a href="# scene2> obviously not that, but can that be done? I have a web page where the top table row is a flash file, the next table row is HTML with the nav, and the next table row is the main flash movie.
Can the HTML in the second row be set to target different scenes in the main movie, or should I just move this whole puppy into one big flash file, and lose the HTML? I'd rather keep it split this way if possible.

Targeting _blank From Flash Html Var (.txt)
Hi, I'm loading a .txt variable into Flash MX 2004 and it contains some URL hyperlinks -- and I'd like them to open in new browser windows. I'd rather do it with JS as a popup (which I've done before on normal HTML pages, but not within a flash .txt variable).
I've tried both HTML and JS to get this to open into a blank or popup window, neither does so.
Currently, with the HTML link (immediately below) the variable loads fine, and if I remove the target info, the new URL opens successfully into the page and replaces the page I was on. But I want a blank or popup for my URL links.

Here (below) is the JS language I've used before, which isn't working within the .txt Flash var. I *do* have the render-as-HTML button depressed in the Flash movie that calls this .txt file. Please note, I've only used this language (below) with relative files -- in this case, I replaced the relative file with a URL. Maybe that's my problem.

Targeting Html Frames With Flash Buttons
I'm developing a site that is a hybrid of flash and html
I've built a frameset in dreamweaver, one frame area that will house the flash navigation and another frame that will hold the various pages of content
What I'd like to do is use the buttons in the flash navigation frame to change the page (*.html) in the content frame. So when I press the news button in the flash nav the news.html page will appear in the content frame

Targeting A Flash Scene From An HTML Link?
Hi folks, I'm new here and would appreciate any assistance you can offer with this...
Here's the scenario:
I'm using a flash navigation panel with a number of options that's inside frameA. The options in this panel target HTML pages in frameB, say for example: an "option2" link targets page 2 in frame B then moves to scene2 to show the active state of the option.
This part is straightforward, but what I'm wondering is:
Say I'm on the HTML page 1 in frameB and I click on a link that says "option2". I'd like the flash nav in frameA to reflect this change in context. That is since I'm now looking at "option2" the nave in frameA should reflect that.
Is there any way to target a Flash Scene based on link are that clicked through in corresponding HTML pages?
For an example of what I'm talking about, check out the Flaming Lips site:

If you click the "Downloads" tab, you'll notice the the nav goes to an active state for downloads. Now return to the home page and click "Downloads" in the "New Lips screensaver" bucket in the HTML part of the center frame (underneath the large picture, 2nd bucket down on the right). You'll notice the center frame refreshes, and after a moment, the nav moves to the proper active state of "downloads".
Any ideas on how this works?

Flash Menu/submenu And Html Targeting
Here's what I'm trying to do. I have a menu I'm building in flash, and each main menu item has a submenu bar underneath. What I want to do is just include the swf file in my html on different pages, but let's say if I go to the "about" section, how do I get my flash menu to be the submenu of the "about" section instead of reloading and the wrong submenu is revealed.
Hopefully that makes sense. What I want to do is target labels inside of flash from my html, or is there an easier way?
I'm in Flash MX 2004.

Targeting A Flash Anchor From An HTML Page
Hi,
Been working with flash for a while, but haven't really needed to use anchors and now that i do, i can't figure it out.
I'm trying to call a specific scene or sometimes frame within a flash movie from an html page. I created anchor points where needed in flash, but wheni put the address in the html button (ie. vijn.html#ev) the link reloads the entire movie rather than going back to the anchor itself.
Is there any way to target a specific anchor in flash from HTML?

How do I connect the Flash menu system that I set up in Swish that will be embedded in the TOP frame to the standard HTML pages to be selected in the BOTTOM frame?
FYI: I am using Frontpage 2000 to create the frames and standard HTML pages
I can create the HTML page containing the Swish/Flash menu- no problem there. I just don't see the connection between the two. WHat's glueing them together. Is this accomplished with hyperlinks within FrontPage OR is this done from the Swish side and then seen by FrontPage after it is embedded?

HTML Code In Flash To Load An HTML Page In A Frame
Hello.
I have an existing website built in html, with three frames. One on the top for the banner, one on the left for navigation, and a larger window to the right of the navigation for the main content. I want to replace the content in my navgation frame with a flash built navgation menu, and when my menu items are selected, it will load a new page in the content frame.
I currently have this working fine in html. I can make my buttons link to a URL no problem in flash, but how do I tell it to load the content into the other frame? I haven't started this process yet, and figured I'd ask first to get any ideas.

Help With Targeting URL In Another Frame
I have a game in the top part of a web page. I also have a drop-down menu with a selectable list of prizes in another page. I don't want that drop down menu to be revealed until the end of the game.
In the last frame of my game I have a GET URL action to bring up the drop-down menu page.., however, I need that page to appear with the game in a frame below it. How do I acheive this??? It doesn't seem to matter if I choose _self _parent _blank it isn't targeting my bottom frame...

Can someone tell me if and how it is possible to target a particular frame when you load an external swf, eg start the play head from a particular frame when the external swf is loaded. Is it possible to have control from the parent swf ?

The parent movie has a list of options, each option is a button. Every option in the parent movie loads the same swf file, the relevant content for each 'option' resides in a different frame. Targeting A Function In A Frame
Hi,
I have a frameset which makes one frame called "main" (commonly used for domain forwarding). The html of "main" contains a flash movie and a javascript function that is called by the flash movie using getURL().
It all works fine on mac but on pc IE the getURL can not seem to find the function when I load the frameset url (it works fine if I load the frame directly).
I've tried using getURL(url, "main") and getURL(url, "_self") but it still won't work when the frameset html is loaded into the browser.
I'd really appreciate any help.

Targeting A Frame In An External Swf
This is a 2 part question. I hope someone can help even if you can answer just one of my questions:
1. Situation: main movie with buttons. Each button when pressed unloads an external .swf onto the main screen.
Here is an example:
on (release) {

setProperty("area", _x, 132.1);
setProperty("area", _y, 161);

Now within each external movie, there are buttons as well (This would be the submenus). When you click on a button it takes you to a frame label on the same movie:

}
Now here is my problem:
I would like a button on the main page that will open the external .swf (blue) but point to blue's frame label "yellow" rather than playing blue from the beginning. Hope that makes sense!
Question 2:
Situation: i usually load the flash file on a dreamweaver page "http://www.mysite.index.html
So each flash page I open will always ready http://www.mysite.index.html.
Is there anyway to point someone to a page within a page on the flash site? The whole site is made in Flash but embedded in a page in Dreamweaver.

Targeting Frame Label
Hi, i wonder if anyone can help me with targeting frame labels.
My button is called "two_btn" and i want to target the frame label
"button two" which is placed inside the "mainMovie_mc" movieclip. my button is placed within the "mainMovie_mc" within another movie clip that holds all my buttons called "ButtonAnimating_mc"
On the first frame of my main timeline i have placed the folowing code
two_btn.onRelease = function() {
gotoAndPlay._root.mainMovie_mc("button two");
but this is not working. Are my target paths wrong?
I dnt want to place any code directly on my buttons so thats why i have placed it on the first frame of my main timeline

Targeting Frame Label
This brobably sounds dumb.. but here goes anyways..
I am making a navigation system : Home, Services, contact etc..
I have a main movie with a symbol called "NAV__Holder" and inside NAV__Holder I have a series of keyframes all with frame labels for the diferent states of the menu. They are named "n_home","n_services" etc
At each keyframe I have a movie that contains the navigation buttons for that state of the menu (so when in the home section the home button is unavailable.. etc)
This MC is named "NAV_Home"
want The buttons in this MC to move the playhead in the "NAV_Holder" layer with the keyfames with frame Labels to chage the menu state according to the section selected.
my code for the targeting is:
on (release) {
_root.NAV__Holder.gotoAndPlay("n_home");
}
can anyone see the broblems with this? as I cant seem to get it to work?
I can get it to work using :
on (release) {
_parent.gotoAndPlay("n_home");
}
but if some one could explain the prob with the absolute targeting?

Frame Targeting In Other Pages
I have a page where the initial start page is all flash. All the following pages are html with flash menus in a default template that stays as you navigate. The pages all have one main inline frame called "main" that all content is loaded in. The rest of the page does not change. What I need help with is on the initial page, I need to be able to click one of the buttons and have it open the home page with the content related to the button clicked to be loaded in the frame window. So essentially they will all be opening the "home.html" file, but with different content in the frame within that page.

Help With Targeting Frame Labels Or Is There A Better Way?
HI!
I am trying to target a frame label(in another MC) from a button and check if the other MC is on that frame an if it is play the rest of the movie.
what i am trying to do is say you have 4 buttons:
news about links contact
and 4 movies:
newsmov aboutmov linksmov contactmov
that all play up to a frame label named "reverse" that has a stop action on it. after the reverse label the animation plays until the end
the buttons are located in the movie clips
//plays up to the reverse frame
on (release) {
gotoAndPlay(2);
//i want to check if another area is active and if it is play the outro from the reverse frame label
if(_root.newsmov=="reverse"){
_root.newsmov.gotoAndPlay("reverse");
}
so what i am trying to do is if you have one area active and if you go to the next it plays its reverse animation to put it away. like if you are on news then you go to about, the about(or any of the other areas)knows that news is active and than plays its reverse animation.
what i have now is not working..it's no suprise my AS is not too good.

When I load an external .swf into a movieclip the frame labels I have in the external .swf aren't functioning. But they function just fine in the .fla file. What can be causing them not to work when loaded into another movie?

Targeting Frame Label
hello,
i have a menu inside movieclip instance "dropPlug_mc" that slides down, and I want to include a conditional statement when I hover over the button that drops the menu down:
- if the menu is on label "menustopped" which means it is completely up and out of sight, I would like it to play frame 2 which drops them menu down.
- if the menu is currently sliding down (starting on frame 2 labeld "slidedown" then I would like nothing to happen if a person goes over the button (just keep it sliding down and dont start over)
- if the menu is slide all the way down and stopped on frame label "menudown" then I would like it to do nothing when going over the button (just like the above).
here is my code which doesnt work!
on (rollOver) {
if (this.dropPlug_mc == "menustopped") {
this.dropPlug_mc.gotoAndPlay(2);
}
}
the same applies when it slides up, but the labels are obviously different, but I think I could figure it out from there.

Targeting A Particular Frame In A Loaded Swf
Hi everyone!
I have this that I am currently working on.
I'm having problems with a particular script. If you follow the link above, and click on the what we do page, it will bring you to the main page. Click on the link in the lower right corner "Learn More". This link will bring you to an elements table.
Clicking on anyone of these links should bring you to a details pages representing whatever element you clicked on initially.
The problem that i am having is that when any of the element are clicked, it automatically brings you to the "Alturism" frame and if you refresh your browser and try it again, they seem to work perfectly.
Here is the code that is applied to the buttons of my elements.swf file

}
On the details page I have 20 frames, with each frame containg the different details representing each element.
This is the code on frame 1 of the details.swf file

Can anyone explain why this is happening?

Targeting Frame In Separate Movie
I am trying to target a frame (or label) in another movie file. When they click on the button it loads another movie, but I need them to go to a specific frame. Is there code that I can put in my first movie to load the other move and target the frame?

Targeting Frame In Root Swf From Loaded Swf
Hi Guys
I must be missing the obvious answer here.
I have swf 2 loaded into swf 1 (_root). swf 1 stops at a frame, and swf 2 is where all the stuff is going on.
from within a frame in swf 2 i need to tell swf 1 to go to X frame in the main timeline and resume play.
any help would be appreciated.
