Television Static Effect
ok I have seen on a few sites, with an effect that looks like TV static, Even though I could always use my DV camera and get some video of static, I was hoping there is an easier way. I redesigning my website with some cool little features, and wanted to use this effect. Where can I find static JPGs or something similar?

How Do I Create A Television Fuzzy Effect?
I have been at this for sometime now and I always come out on the lower end of the rope.

You know when you lose reception it looks like ants running on the TV screen? How do I create that effect in flash? I have a video file in my flash website but I want to create the effect that its losing signal.

Wave Distortion Effect? Like A Flag?
howdy

I have a movieclip that i must distort to move as if it is a flag...in a wave moving manner.

I have briefly explored using a simple mask...to create an effect as often seen in water reflection effects... but it looks too choppy to look like a real flag waving.

Perhaps there is a script that will modify an image to do such things? or an animation technique?

Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I am gonna go eat lunch. thanks.

Image Fade Effect - Distortion
i'm building a site entirely in flash but all of my graphics are imported .jpg files. i'm using no vector whatsoever. basically what i'm doing is this. i have a button, that, when clicked, tell it's targeted movie clip to start playing. the move clip houses one .jpg, which is text and it's surrounding background. the clip is 20 frames long and set at 20fps. the first ten for the fade in, the second for the fade out, and a stop point in the middle. i've converted the .jpg to a graphic so i could adjust the alpha settings in the properties panel to control the fade. the movie clip loads over a larger background image. the clip is set in place so that the backround in the clip lines up with the main background. the effect is set up to make it look like the text is fading in, since that is the only part that is appearing to change, however, flash is distorting my image as it loads. nomatter how i realign the clip on the main stage it does not load aligned over the main background image. also, it seems as if flash is stretching or crunching the image as it fades in. i've turned off smoothing in all of the images properties control panels. do i need to load the image dynamically, fade them using actionscript, or just call it a day? thanks in advance for any help. timothy.

Television Remote
hello once again..
I'm workin on making a television remote that the user can use to view different things about the site..
the remote has a power button, and the digits 0-9
each channel will be reached by pressing two buttons (1 7=channel 17, 0 3=channel 3, ect)
I've been told this can be done possibly by arrays, but I just started into actionscripting so I have NO clue how I'd get started..
but as an overview...
when the user presses the two buttons, it will load a mc in the viewing area..

any clue on how to write an array for this..?

Flash For Television - HELP
Hi,

I produced a television commercial in Flash MX. I need tips on how to export the movie to a file that maintains broadcast quality content.

I built the commercial using several actionscript techniques, so when I try to export the movie to video, the video file does not look right because none of the actionscript is running.

Is there a way to play the movie on the computer while third-party software captures the video? Are there certain dimensions the movie needs to be for broadcast?

Any help is appreciated.

Television Animation...
I need a bit of help. I'm fairly new to flash but have been picking it up ok. I have drawn a retro television and made it in to a group with the screen transparent. This is the top layer of the movie. Next I've made the bottom layer which is just a grey rectangle that goes behind the transparent screen. So now it seems like the screen is grey. Up until now the movie previews fine, but when I add the middle layer flash crashes when trying to preview and if I export the movie it is just blank.

What I want to do with the middle layer is basically have a fuzzing, black and white dots over the grey, like you have when you're not tuned in to a station.

I've tried making it a movie clip and i've tried putting it in the actual scene changing frame by frame nothing works though.

Does anyone have any ideas what i'm doing wrong or what I can do?

Flash For Television
I have been asked to submit some animation for a local television show, and this could easily turn into a steady paying job, so I want to do them well. I use 3dfa for swf authoring and am pretty good at using it, so I really don't need help with that. What I would like would be any general information that you guys have about effectively designing for television, especially things I should be wary of............

I've done some simple animations for another local show in the past, but I did these using a 3d tool that renders straight to avi. What I will be doing now is going to be mostly text based, so flash fits the bill much better.

I know this is a bit open ended, but that's kind of where I am in all of this.

The final work will be converted to AVI(uncompressed) and burnt to cd so size is of no importance as long as it fits on a disc.

Also, some of it will need to be blue screened, so any info in that area would be great.

Any thoughts, advice, ideas are appreciated..........

Television Ad Slide Show
I am wanting to make a 30 second ad for television. I would like to use still photos antimated as a slide show presentation with voice over and music in background. Is this possible? How can this be converted to television? I know they use Beta for their video production. This is all new to me but would like to avoid production costs of the cable ad people. Any help is appreciated.

Loading Animation After Given Time On Television.

I'm in trouble, Please help. I'm working with an Interactive Channel and my job is to make animated flash cards for our television show which i upload on server and get displayed on our channel. Now, I wanna make some flash animation cards (some text animated with celebrity images) and i want it to (display) change automatically every half an hour. Now I don't want to upload the cards manually. I want to make a database of some flash cards and upload it on server so that it will get replace every half an hour.

Please suggest me how I can do that. What Interaction Actionscript i need to code in order to replace the flash cards automatically.

Any suggestion will be appreciable.

Making A Flash Cartoon For A HD Television
Hello, quick (and probably easy) question.

I'm doing some cartoons for random clients, and they're going to need to look slick on HD televisions (1080). Is there a specific size I should design the flash movie at before hand? Right now I'm designing them at 1280 x 720, but when I burn the movie to a DVD and watch it, there is just a little but of pixel distortion during some of the movement (ex. you can notice some of the outlines looking odd as they move pixel from pixel). I'm wondering if this has to do with the size I set the stage at in Flash, or if it shouldn't even matter since it's mostly all vector art. Anybody with any experience in this field?

at the moment I'm building a kiosk-application to show information and advertisments whih is showed at a wide-screen lcs-screen. Since I'm totaly uncapable of using Director I decided to use flash for this. To play dvd-quality video's in 700*500 I skipped flash-video and used Multidmedia Zinc, an application showing existing flash-files and using the wmp, qt or real plugin to show the video's. Till there it's all ok.

But now my customer wants live broadcasted television IN the application (1/2 part of the screen). I played with the hauppauge tv tuner trying to get the tv in windows media player, but no chance. Now I heard that there's the possibility to show the images of a webcam in flash itself, does anyone know if, and if yes, how to connect flash with the tv tuner & the correct channel?

Embedding Video - Interactive Television Prototype
Hiya

I'm creating a prototype of an interactive TV application.

The flash file that I'm working on has 10 + scenes. Is there a way to embed a quicktime (or avi) movie into the flash file WITHOUT having the video start from frame one each time the scene changes?

Basiclly, I want the user to be able to watch the video uninterruped as he/she
navigates through the application. Additionally, I want the user to be able to minimize & maximize the screen.

What would be the best way to handle this?

Png Pic, And Seeing Distortion
hi, whenever I try to add a png and export to swf, the png looks kinda distort, I tried making it looseless, and adjusting the quality to 100%. and it's still showing missinng lines and shifting pic size. anyway i can solve that??

I made a curvy swirl in macromedia fireworks then I exported the png into flash. When I export my flash movie, the swirl is not a clean curve, it gets a little distorted. Why is this and what can I do to avoid this? BTW I use flash 5

MC Distortion
Confused! I created a button on my main timeline.
I have Movie Clips resting on the main timeline.

I placed the same button into the MC's and the buttons become distorted. They scale about 30% wide. the height seems to be just fine.

I'm looking to find a way to distort the side of a mc with AS to get something like the fla I've attached. On this one, the motion is simply done using shape tweening, but I want to be able to do that on mc's.

I've found in the AS Help some docs about matrix, transformPoint, etc, but I just can't figure it out to simply scale up or down the sides of a mc.

Distortion Of Jpg Buttons
hi all, i'm new here and i allready got a problem

i'm trying to make a flash navigation wich is based on imgages i made in photoshop.
when i do this my jpg or gif images get distorted on a weird way. The quality of the images is fine, but when i roll over some buttons (also gif/jpg), some pixels in my background image or button image get shifted.

- i use Flash 5,

the top left button has got this problem, and also the central metalic ring is not as round as it should be.
(the origanal jpg has a perfect circle)

Symbol Distortion - Help
I'm making a little animation that involves seeing many cows. I made one "cow" symbol, wanting to use it repeatedly to show that there are several cows in a field. I have one layer I call "Cows" as well. However, if I put more than one symbol per frame, the animation distorts itself in a way for which I don't want.

Example: 5 cows are in the movie, on one layer. 100 frames later, they are motion tweened to move from one side of the screen to another. HOWEVER, they also end up getting scaled to like 50% or something in the process.

This doesn't happen when I use one symbol per layer. So I have to have a layer called "Cow1", "Cow2", Cow3", etc, and animate each layer. Is this really necessary? Am I missing something here?

Can I not have more than one symbol per layer?

Video Distortion
I have made some AVIs using a screen capture program that I am adding to my movie. I have used a 3rd party encoder and converted them to SWFs. I have imported them and put them into the appropriate scene. I then published the stand-alone EXE. When the videos played, the mouse movements in the video cause distortion even though they didn't when I just played the AVI with Windows Media Player. I was wondering what is causing this and if I can eliminate it.

Bmp Distortion When Importing...
i remember seeing a tutorial on this awhile back somewhere but i cant find it. im sure you all know how if you import a jpeg or gif into flash, it gets distorted (one side gets chopped and that fragment goes on the other side). well im working on a design with some images i made in photoshop and this is slowing me down too much. could someone tell me the steps to keeping bmps so they dont distort?

I have already made them to symbols opened them and broken the apart but that didn't help. I have also turned off the smoothing in the properties dialog.

ok, i have a background image, and them a series of images above it that have the background image as well as part of an animation... its hard to explain but i have uploaded the .fla for you to see...

i have tried every trick that i could think of, making it a symbol and putting it at 99 alpha, breaking it up, turning off image smoothing, adjusting the position over and over, nothing works...

i'd love to see if someone could figure this out.

Ive created a movie which contains a logo, all is ok when previewing in flash, but when I preview in browser the logo is slightly distorted, there is nothing wrong with the original image it appears to be a problem only when displaying in browser.

Ive tried saving the image as .png, .gif but this has no affect.

Text Distortion?
Hi. I'm getting some weirdness when I publish these maps. In the authoring environment, the text that names the roads looks fine, but when I publish to an .swf, some of the text (seemingly randomly) becomes distorted and misshapen, as though I had run an optimize shapes on it (if you publish the attached .fla, you'll notice it in the upper right hand corner of the left hand map if you zoom in on it). These maps were imported from Freehand, and the text was converted to paths before import (I had to do this because the text would be offset if I didn't.)

I am flummoxed. Does anyone know what I did wrong? Thanks for the help!

When I apply an animation (in a different layer) over or behind the jpg, the jpg gets distorted slightly while the animation plays over it. Can anyone help?

Sound Distortion, Help
Hi!

I am trying to upload a 10 second, event based sound with my flash movie. I took the sound (an MP3 to AIFF file) out of iTunes, edited it in iMovie then brought it back into flash. When I play the flash movie locally, it sounds fine. (It's at 44Khz, Stereo) But when I upload it onto the server, there's a weird echo and this terrible distortion. in fact, you can check it out at www.spicymango.com.

I've tried many different clips, this happens over and over. I need help!!!

i have some .gifs in a flash file, that look fine when i have them in design time. but when i preview or export the file, they become distorted. is there any way to prevent this?

whenever i import an image and use it in a movie a tiny bit of the movie gets cut off, just a pixel but it can make the movie look messier. can this be fixed?

Bitmap Distortion
Hi all...

I'm sure everyone here knows how bad flash (Mx) is at using bitmaps. If x and y aren't pixel exact the bitmap gets distorted, also if the smooth option is activated.

My problem is I have a few bitmaps that are inside some mc (buttoms, backgrounds, etc) and some of them get distorted. All the movieclip containning them are pixel exact (position not 54.3 or 23.1) and the smooth option is not activated.

I going crazy... anyone knows why bitmaps distort in flash mx?? (and all the previous versions)

I'm not necessarily new to flash, yet only recently have I been attempting to really do anything with it. And today I noticed that EVERY png file I imported into flash came out extremely distorted when I previewed the movie. I tried about 3 or 4 completely different PNGs, and all happened the same.

I notice "noise"-esque discoloration (small, but noticable if you look for it) in preview mode. I'm not talking distortion so bad they're unrecognizable or anything like that, but badly enough to destroy small text. When I import the pngs into flash, they look perfectly normal--it's only in the preview they come out distorted.

I went so far as to look back on previous movies I had made with PNGs and (although I didn't catch it when making them) they too were noticably distorted between the fla and the swf.

Hello. I really need some help. Flash is making me tiiiiiired! I have been trying to solve this problem for some time now! The problem is that when i import an image (both png and bmp) into flash the left part becomes distorted. More specifically the image is a frame and the left part of the frame seems to become 2 pixels wide instead of one like the rest of the frame. Hope someone can help me!

i created a outline image in photoshop and saved it as a png file, then imported it to flash..when i put it on the page the image is nice and smooth, but when i test it on the internet, the image comes

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about image distortion in Flash MX. I am not sure how to explain it, there was an old OZ Wheels racing website that when you clicked on a certain button, the image would stretch to another part of itself, it would distort and bend to another spot....and I can't possibly figure out how that was done. I was wondering if anyone 1. knows what the hell I'm talking about and/or 2. can tell me how this is done. I'd appreicate dearly any help that can be offered.

Png Color Distortion - Please Help
I have created a movie that floats in the center of the screen and to create a dropshadow under it I made a .png file in fireworks and imported it into a frame on the lowest layer.

My problem is that when I open the movie in the browser window, the stage color no longer matches the the background color in the html. I have the color set to #cccccc so there shouldn't be any problem.

I can only assume that the .png dropshadow is the problem.

Any Solutions???

I am currently trying to create an online portfolio to contain some of my work.

The problem is when I import the images from Photoshop to Flash they seem to get distorted.

I'm saving them as jpgs (set to the highest quality option) in Photoshop, then importing them to Flash, and converting them to graphic symbols.

But when I view the images in the publish preview in Flash the images appear distorted- with very jagged edges.

I'm at work at the moment, and my portfolio is on pc at home, so if anyone is willing to try to help me and would like to see the images, please let me know, and I will email you the images this evening so you can see what I'm talking about.

Anyone who can offer any suggestions/ advice- THANK YOU!!

Font Distortion
I have a FLA with a Dynamic Text field. I have the field set at 100% per the transform window. When I test the movie within Flash things display properly. When I test the movie within a browser the font in the Dynamic field is very small and crunch together. The text in the static field looks fine.

Any help appreciated.

Picture Distortion
Hey,

Lately i have been having a problem which distorts one of my graphics. It occurs when I have a picture, and then a movie clip is called to play on top of it, and although it doesnt cover the picture, I think the transparent qualities of the png in the movie clip distorts the picture. Is there anyway around this?
