Trial Version Flash 8 Prof, While Waiting For Purchased Version To Arrive
I am using Flash 8 Professional 30 day trial on my PC until the Flash 8 Professional program arrives in the snail mail, i am having trouble publishing my ads for use on our website with this trial version, is it b/c it is the trial version. my company ordered Flash 8 Prof for me, but I won't get it until next week.

Flash Mx Prof 2004 Version 7: Creating Url Links For Buttons
Hello Guys,
Please, please please help, I have just upgraded my flash mx to flash mx 2004 professional version 7 and now I wish I didn’t. After opening an flash mx file (mx fla) onto mx 2004 professional named it as doc 1 . I wanted to add a simple url link by creating a button and typing the script. At first I typed the flash mx script, then tested the movie by typing f12
on (release) {

and got the error message
**Error** Scene=preloader, layer=buttons, frame=10:Line 1: Statement block must be terminated by '}'
on (release) {

and then I typed

}
and still got the same error as above.
After that I wanted to test the script to see if it worked on a new fresh mx 2004 prof document called doc 2 and created a new button and typed the script again
on (release) {
getURL("http://www.xd-tv.com"), ("_blank");
}
and published it again and it worked.
So after that I was confused as to why it didn’t work on doc 1. I even removed all the script on the button and still got the same error message, which confused me even more cause that script no longer existed.
My initial thoughts were that doc 1 wasn’t responding to any changes made. so if anyone out there can help can you tell me the following:
1)have I typed the right script to make a button link o a URL?
2)Is there a way of refreshing flash mx 2004 professional?
3)Why is it still showing the same error messages .
Id would be grateful if someone can help me, I def have learnt a lesson don’t run until you can walk properly I,e master flash mx before going to 2004 prof.

I looked at the macromedia site, and this version is not available there, does any one now where I can get it?

Help With Trial Version Of Flash MX 6
I'm currently working on a Flash MX 6 presentation at school. I am seriously behind and need help. The main problem i have it that the version i have at home is Flash MX 6 trial. So it doesnt have certain fonts. I sent the original FLA file to my email so i can open it at home and work on it but the font is set to another font, not Wide Latin. So the entire presentation looks weird. Anyone know if i can fix this or save it and send it back to school (edited with changes to animation)without changing the font?
Also, before i open the fla file i sent from school, it says has a message which reads.."one or more fonts used by this movie are not availible.Substitute fonts will be used for display and export. They will not be saved to the Macromedia Flash authoring document?"
What does that mean? It means that once i save and finish and send it back to school, the original text will still remain?

Flash 8 Trial Version Is Corrupted.
Have any of you experienced this as well? The trial version is the full version, only limited until you purchase the serial number. It downloads fine, but when I try to install it, it says it's corrupted. I have downloaded it twice now just to make sure something weird didn't happen and it failed both times. I'm running Windows 2000 on this computer and Windows 2000 SP4 on the other so I know it's not an OS problem. Macromedia states that it will work on 2000.
Any ideas? I'd really like to try this. This is a major problem with Macromedia. Does it install ok for all of you?

Looking For A Trial Version Of Flash MX 2004
I have been using Flash 7 at my desktop computer to work on a group project. Currently I'm overseas and I hoped to download a trial version of Flash 7 on another computer over here to continue my work.
So far, this hasn't worked and here's why:
-Macromedia's website only offers a trial version of Flash 8
-When googling, I find trial versions of Flash 6
-When googling I DO NOT find Flash 7.0 for Windows
-When googling, I find versions of Flash 7.2 BUT it will only install if 7.0 is already installed
(NOTE: Moving from Flash 7 to Flash 8 to Flash 7 again will leave some really messy results. I wish to avoid that.)
My options:
-Give up (bad idea)
-Have someone who's better than me at googling find it
-Have someone send me the 7.0 installer via email, AIM, a server, etc.
Can someone be my hero?

I have tried several different Macintosh computers, both using Safari and Firefox - with popups disabled.
I have tried Windows.

Flash Trial Version Locks Up
Hello,
I downloaded the trial version of Flash CS3 on to my Compaq laptop with Windows Vista...one of the lower end models that I have upgraded the processor on. When I run Flash, it locks up. That blue circle shows up and never goes away, and I have to do a Ctrl-Alt-Del. Not even on any real sophisticated animations...just basic ones. Recently, it locks up just loading the program. Can you tell me what the problem may be? I was considering buying Flash CS3, but if it isn't going to run correctly on my laptop, would I have a better chance buying an older version, say Flash 8?

Problems With The Flash Trial Version
Hello all. I recently wanted to try the Flash trial version, so I downloaded it. Everthing worked great, I downloaded it, etc. However When I went to open it, it said that I had to put in a serial number, or try the trial version. I clicked "I want to try for 30 days" (or something like that), and It said, "A problem was encountered while trying to load the trial version".
??? What do I do?

I need to download Flash. I have a Mac on OS X 10.1. On the Adobe site, the only offer downloads for versions 10.2 and higher.
I really, really, really want Flash-- I love it, it's my best friend! and I'm completely new to Macs-- I've always only used PCs, and now I've purchased a used Mac which is great, but naturally all of my software from the PC isn't useable on it.
Long story short, someone has to know a place where I can download an older version of Flash that will work with my system.
...and no, i'm not advocating illegal downloads, of course not! i'd be willing to settle for a trial version lol or.. at extreme pressure, purchase it...

Flash Decompiler Trial Version...
Does anyone know of a good flash decompiler trial version that have no restriction on decompiling? Like no restriction limit to 2 actionscript, 2 shapes, etc... How can I do the evaluation and recompiling it to see how well it do if there's some restriction. I'm not going to buy $50 or $75 to find out how well it work or not becuase chance are some of the decompiler software don't work too well.

Need To Find Trial Version For An Older Flash:
Does anybody know if there's still a way to download versions of Flash that are a bit older than the most recent generation?
I need a trial version of 8. It's giving me all kinds of trouble because alot of the links I'll find that say they'll take me to things about downloading 8 or getting to use a trial version of 8 then turn around and redirect me over to CS3.
Is it a hopeless cause? I hope it isn't because I really need some help on that.
If there isn't a way to download Flash Professional 8 still... I wonder if there's some place I could buy it at still?
I've been to stores where they were clearing the last few out and were hauling in inventories of the newer version but for somebody with a Pentium III processor x86
& With Windows 2000 professional I'm sort of up a creek without a paddle and could really use some help.
What should I do?

Script Not Working In Flash 8 Trial Version
Hi
I tried this simple script in the trial version of Flash 8 which does not seem to be working. Can anyone please let me know what could possibly be the problem. When i used the same script in Flash MX 2004,it worked. However even after re-installing the trial version of Flash 8,it does not work. Basically this is what i made:
1) input text field with a variable name of :inputNum
2)dynamic text field with a variable name of :outputBool
3)made a button with an instance name : enter_btn
4)put this code in the actions layer:
enter_btn.onRelease=function(){
outputBool=(inputNum<100);
};
var inputNum:Number=0;
var outputBool:Boolean=true;
At the outset, it shows 0 in the 'inputNum' and the true in the 'outputBool'.However when i enter any number in the inputNum it shows 'undefined' in the outputBool. Why is that so? Would really appreciate an answer.

Flash CS3 Trial Version -> Dreamweaver 8 Won't Work Anymore
I recently installed the trial version of Flash CS3. It worked fine, but after the 30 day evaluation period, Dreamweaver 8, an app I've had installed for a few years now ceases to work. It loads up, then immediately crashes. Prior to that, both apps worked fine concurrently.
I uninstalled the Flash CS3 trial version. Still, Dreamweaver 8 crashes.
I found the CS3Clean Script, ran that, and Dreamweaver 8 still crashes.
I'm positive this has something to do with the 30 day evaluation period, because I was using Dreamweaver fine yesterday.
Any ideas on how I can fix this?
I've tried re-installing Dreamweaver along with the 8.0.2 update and still get the same results.
I have Flash 8 installed already, if that helps.

Trial Version
Hi,
I have downloaded a trial version yesterday, and I am trying to make a movie. Everything worked ok, until I arrrived the 6th scene - the pictures I used there are not displayed. I have made sure that they are enabled, and if I press 'show at the start of the movie' they are displayed. but in the scene where I use action show to display them they are not displaed...
DOes it have to do anything with the trial version? I also tried to move the last 3 scenes to a new movie (3 at each movie), but it didn't help. I tried to export the movie, but the html behaved even worse - only the first scene was presented and then just bits and peaces

Everytime I import sound files into the library my trial version of Flash crashes.
Is it possible to complete a project in the trial version or is it just for learning?
I am just learning at the mo, but hoped to make a wee project within the 30 days. Now I've only got 12 days left...

My Trial Version Has Stopped Working
Not that I am pissed with Macromedia but I think that if they have an issue with virus software and the installs of their 30 day trials they should post it... I installed this morn at 9:00am west coast time and had used the download for all of 10 mins when I had to leave to head to my next location... brought my laptop with me with the trail on it... and when I started the system back up the download told me it had expired... I know that we have Macromedia people on this board and would like them to tell me why their CS people (customer service) do not have the "tool" to fix this and also why something is not stated on the macromedia support site? I would really like a reply please... feel free to email me also...

Serial Number For Trial Version
my trial version of Flash gave me the an error message when starting up. I fixed the problem and had to reinstall, however now that I've got it back to the screen that is asking for my serial number I don't have it, does anyone know where I can get my serial number for the trial version? Trial Version Not Displaying Dynamic Text
I'm having a problem with the MX Trial Version. I'm trying to just show some good "old fashioned" dynamic text and it's not working. I've checked every last thing that I can think of and am just wondering if it's my computer if it's the MX Trial Version.

The Version 7 (MX 2004) Fla File Shows Correctly In Version 8
I am new to Flash.
We have an old fla file created with Flash MX 2004 that needs to be modified. About 2 months ago, I contact Adobe for MX 2004 and was told that Adobe did not sell it anymore. I had to purchase Version 8. Also I was told that version 8 would be backward capable.
I purchased version 8 and tried to load the fla file. However, the flash generated is different from what it was from MX 2004, some text or captions disappeared from screens.

I'm trying to find out if there are issues with loading a SWF movie clip using:

If you compile the swf that this is created with to a few versions behind, say Flash V6 and AS1, and the compiledwithgreaterversion.swf file is compiled with Flash 8 and AS2 code, what happens to the player? Does it downgrade the AS VM so it runs the loaded movie with lowest code version possible, or will it run the loaded movie using the AS2 code? I'm loading inside a browser plugin of version 9 or greater.
Hoping this makes sense and someone with some knowhow can answer...

Flash Version? How To Tell Which Version A SWF Is?
Hello,
I have a very specific question. I am designing a flash banner for a site that clearly states that all flash movies must be in version 5. The movie was created in both Flash MX and Flash MX 2004 and then exported as a flash movie version 5 yet I have received a reply from this site that the flash movie is NOT in version 5.
How can this be?
And since I think they have made a mistake I wanted to check which is the flash movie version but don't know how to get around to do it. Does anyone know how to do this? I would really appreciate any help possible ASAP because this banner is already way overdue.

French Version...english Version...?
Hi all,
please help me over this "version" problem...
I installed win2000 in french as basic language. then i installed flash 5 and all the texts as well as the actionscript run without problem. so I exported all the files.
after putting on the web, when it is viewed with french-basis windows, it is fine. Once I use the Eng. windows (or chinese wndows), both the texts and the actionscipt not work properly...I really don't know why will it be that, can anyone give me a hand on this?

As the title says, does anyone know a v5 code snippet that can be used to replace the v6-only getBytesLoaded()?
This is a line taken from an fla. posted by oldnewbie, and I'm trying to get it to work when published to v5, but can't remember a substitute, or if there even is one.

Loading Fp Version 9 Swf Into Older Version Swf
Hi,
I am trying to load a flash player version 9 swf into a version 6 swf, using loadMovieNum. When I load it into _level 0, the loaded swf works, but when I load it into a higher level, it doesn't (I am not using _root in the 9 version).
What could be the reason?
I also have a lot of problems using the MovieClipLoader class or loadMovie for this.
(I need this to combine the use of the swfObject and building some kind of preloader)

Problems When Switching From Version 6 To Version 7 ()
i´ve got this xml price list imported into flash, and all script written for version 6. When exporting to version 7, some problems occur:
the import/parse split-into-arrays part is working fine.
the duplicateMovieclip dosent work, and the arrays' values comes out NaN.
Can anyone tell me if the syntax have changed from v. 6 to v. 7 ?

Get Flash-Version (5/MX)
Hello!
In the tutorials, I found some "flash-detectors" which see without any javascript if Flash 5 is installed. This is fine. But what I need is a actionscript which calls a .swf-file if the Flash5-Plugin is installed and another .swf-file if Flash MX-Plugin is installed.
Ideas?
Background: The idea is to make 2 Versions of the same movie, one (uncompressed, large) for Flash 5 and one (compressed, small) for Flash MX. Of course it would be better to install the Flash-MX-Plugin, but some users don't have the admin-rights to do so.

Is This Possible With Any Version Of Flash?
If a hosting service doesn't suppport cgi, perl, php, or any other ssl, is it possible to save updated variables to the server with Flash? So, if i wanted to be able to login to an admin page that contained some input fields for various things, is there any way to save the info from the input fields so that that whenever the site is accessed by anyone, the info is updated according to the input fields?? Best Version Of Flash To Get?
I used to toy around with flash a loooong time ago, and I'm just now getting back into it. Now there's all these new versions and stuff, I just don't know what to get. I purchased Flast MX professional but I find it hard to work with and even harder to follow tutorials with because the interface is different in some aspects. I was curious as to which is the best version I should be using? From what I understand, there's flash 5, 6, MX and MX pro....if anyone could shed some light on the situation, it'd be much appreciated. thanks
