Flash :: Trouble With Adding Buttons That Link To Other Scenes...? (PLEASE HELP)

Still Having Trouble Adding Link To Swf File
Hey There,

I'm still having difficulty adding a hyperlink to an swf file... i tried adding the 'get url' action into the graphic itself, even changed it into a movie behavior- but for some reason when i go to 'basic actions', and scroll down to the 'on mouse event' or 'on clip event', they aren't highlighted- so i can't choose them.

so- essentially. i want the animation to loop, but i only want the url link to open if someone clicks on the animation. the animations i want to become hyperlinks are at the bottom of this page: http://www.lynnguppy.com/johnnyfish.htm

? any more help ? i know i'm probably missing something simple. but i guess that's why i'm a newbie.

Trying To Link Buttons With Scenes
Can some one help me is my first website using flash and I have a problem linking a scene to a button in my main scene I have my back ground and I tried using a button that I copy from a site I download from here but it does nothing and when I test the movie blinks. well thank you!

Trouble Linking Scenes To Buttons In Flash 8 (Should Be Simple I Know).
I just purchased Flash 8 after 2 years of using MX. I'm having trouble linking buttons to various scenes in my movie and I have no earthly idea why it won't work.

Basically I have 6 scenes, all of which I have changed the names from "Scenes 1-6" to the names of my 6 respectives pages. Here's the coding I'm using:

on (press) {
gotoAndPlay("Scene 2", 1);
}

Of course I have replaced "Scene 2" with the name of my respective page.
This should be a very elementary Flash function but I can't seem to make it work. Could this be some sort of Flash 8 bug? Please help!

Buttons In A Movie Link To Other Scenes
I am really stuck so any help would really be appreciated!
I am using Flash MX.
My navigation is comprised of buttons in a movie...I can not get the buttons to link to other scenes when I drag my navigation movie into a scene. The only way I can get the buttons to work is if I put the navigation keframes in every scene and do all my coding in the scene.
I want to be able to drag the navigation movie into scenes and have the buttons within that movie link to other scenes.
Please help!!!!!

Help Turning Buttons To Link To Scenes
Hello:

I have turned all the things I want into symbols("buttons") and now I want to actionscript them to other scenes in my flash. Being totally new to ActionScript, I have no idea what to do. I selected button and clicked on the right side the option that says Edit ActionScript. However I don't know what to do to get it to link to a scene. ANy help?

Buttons In A Movie Link To Scenes
In my Flash MX my navigation is contained in one movie comprised of buttons. What I can't figure out is how to get the buttons contained in that movie to link to scenes. The only way I have been able to get the buttons to link to scenes is to take the buttons and individually place them in the scenes... I want to have the navigation in one movie with the scene links so that I can just drag that navigation on to the scens. Any help would really be appreciated, I am stuck!!!

ok so i'm making a flash page and i started to make buttons then realized i didnt know how to link the buttons.
so i looked up some tutorials, but they didnt help at all
i figured you had to use the get url action script but when i type the url in the space you are suposed to, then test it.
it always shows me an error message. **Error** Scene=Scene 1, layer=bg, frame=1:Line 1: ')' or ',' expected

i have tryed it so many times but i am sure i am doing something very stupid wrong.

Having Trouble With Scenes
I'm doing a interactive application with Flash and I've hit a Road Block,

I created a directory consisting of four buttons that are suppose to link to four different scenes. But the problem is that whenever any of the buttons are selected they follow a linear approach and go to the next scene in the scene list. The actionscript that I've type seems to not work, It's seems to be coded right but might be missing something. Here is an example of the actionscript;

sample_btn.onRelease = function() {
gotoAndPlay("Sample", "1");
stopAllSounds();
};

I need to know a little bit about scenes.

I've got a preloader scene and my game scene, but once the preloader moves to the game, the game keeps on flashing very quickly back to the loading scene, how can I stop this?

Hello guys.. . ..beginner here . ..

What do you have to do to make scenes play sequentially?
I have scene1 with two frames (one has a preloader and the other my intro which consist of several animations all with the same frame but on different layers). When I add a scene 2 (with small animation), and test the movie, it just skips over my intro and goes to scene 2. How do I correct this?

I'm having trouble with scenes, can anyone help me out?

In my movie I have three scenes, each called: scene1, scene2, and scene3.

In each scene I have the main sequences, with the first frame of each sequence given a label: act1, act2, and act3.

Now I have a button that I want to go to a spacific scene and a frame label in the scene when clicked.

This button (label: buttonNav) should go to scene2, and start playing from frame label act2.

Adding A SWF With Scenes To A Nother SWF?
I've got a swf that's the "main" swf. I want to add another swf that someone made for me to it. The problem is, that the one he made for me, has scenes, and lot's of actionscripting, I tried to call it up into an empty MC but with all the actionscripting I just can't get it to work, so I decided to just plop it into my main swf. HOWEVER, it's still got the same problems as it did when I called it in from outside.

Is there a good way to add another swf/fla to your current work?

Adding Scenes - Slowed It Down
Hello all,

I'm fairly new to Flash (about a month). I just combined two flash movies that ran great into one with two scenes. As soon as I did that, the movie slowed down considerably. Both scenes are 12 fps. Any suggestions on what I did or didn't do?

I need help with the tutorial.
It works fine but on the fist page of the tutorial the flash photo is clickable how do you do that?
It has something to do with the <link></link> tags in the xml file and I need to make a onRelease event in the code but how??

Linking Scenes Trouble
hello everyone. Im trying to learn flash by putting a site together...but...Im having some problems. I'm using Flash 5.

I can't seem to get my buttons to link scenes to one another. When I enable buttons in flash most of them work, but when I test my movie (and when I export it) the buttons don't link to anything. They rollover just fine, but that's about it.

Does anyone know why this is happening...or are there any good tutorials where I can "re-learn" how to do this?

i have placed stops on all of the scenes BUT......

My problem is that when i click a link over and over again it just cycles through all my other scenes.

What am i doing wrong??

Trouble With Scenes And Instances
Hi
I have a 2-scene MX FLA that I just can't seem to get working.
Is there any way to reset the instance count when a new scene starts?
They just seem to build up, and I don't know how to refer to one.
Also, I don't seem to be able to set depth like I'd like to - they just stop
appearing if I set a different depth - even if it is unique.
ANy comments appreciated. I stripped the FLA down to the absolute minumum.

Trouble With Scenes And Sound...

I am having trouble with a scene based movie. I cannot make the music stop from the previous scene even once i have navigated to the next scene, i can still hear the music from the first one. Can someone tell me if there is a way of fixing this?

Is there some sort of action script i can paste into the second scene to kill off oll the unwanted sounds still coming from scene 1?

Hopefully somebody can help me?

Having Trouble Changing Scenes
lets think we have buttons A and B, if you push either one it will play frames 4 to 25, but after that, button A will take you to scene 3, while button B takes you to scene 7.

How can i do that?

Trouble Linking To Scenes
Hi,

Does anyone know why when i put a button in my file that i want to go to another scene (scene 2) it just goes to the beggining of the scene the button is in. There are only 2 scenes in the movie (so far) and the button is in scene 1 and should go to scene 2 but it just replays scene 1.

Anyone know why this is happening!?

Trouble Creating Multiple Scenes
Hello all,

I am relatively new to actionscripting, so I have a question about a task that I want to complete but I do not know if it is do-able or not.

I have attached the .fla file if you would like to look at it. Here is my problem:

If you notice in the file, I have created a 'tsunami' button list. I want certain actions to happen on the other side of the divider that I created, once one of the 'tsunami' buttons are pressed. I cannot figure out if this is do-able or not.

For instance, once I press 'Contact' I would like a little animation to happen in that box and then have my contact info appear right next to it. Can somebody please help me figure out how to get this going correctly? Thanks a bunch.

Deleted Scenes Causing Trouble
Hello Everyone:
I purchased Flash Pro 8 recently and still a rookie at using it. Could anyone help me with the following problem? I am creating a Flash doc for our robotics class. There are going to be approximately 10 scenes. The opening scene will be a menu where you can press a button to go to a specific subject which would be on a separate scene. For example, button 1 would go to scene 1, button 2 to scene 2, button 3 to scene 3, etc. Everything worked fine until I decided to delete a scene I decided not to use, then all my buttons quit working. Button 1 which should have gone to scene 1 now goes to scene 3 for example. The action script says that it should be navigating to scene 1 though. In fact, all my buttons navigate to different scenes than the ones they are told to go with the actionscript. Any help would be appreicated.

Adding Scenes Reducing My Image Quality?
I have some images in a flash movie of mine that i put in at 100dpi, yes i know that's larger than usual; quality is important. It comes out fine, until I add a scene to the movie. Then the image looks very low quality. I can't figure out why since the publish settings don't appear to have changed. Why does adding a scene change the image quality? Is there a way to stop this from happening?

Trouble Switching Scenes With New Found Scrolls
Hello all, I have a "photo" section on my website with subsections labeled "color", "random" and "black and white". They all have preloaders and a roll over scroll. But, since I put the roll over scroll on each sub section the sections "color" and "random" won't load for some reason. Now, I have checked the preloaders and everything they just won't work. And I have no idea how the scrolls would interfer but they might be the problem. Any suggestions? Could it be that I copied and pasted the scrolls into each scene?

Getting Scenes To Link Via MC...

I'm setting up my first Flash website. Rather than having every page in one scene with pages linked by frame labels, I have each separate web page in its own scene. I feel it would be easier to work with/organize that way.
Anyway, each button is actually an MC and when rolled over, that MC activates a brief animation.
How do I get these MCs to link scenes when clicked on?

Someone had given me this code a few days ago. I tried attaching it to the MC frame, the actual MC, etc. It didn't work. Could anyone advise me further? I could really use your help! Thanks a million!!

I've finished the four scenes of my project, the only thing I can't do is make the navigation buttons link to another scene! In class, I've learned all I had to do was select the button and give it the "goto and play at frame or label" behaviour, and write the name I gave the first frame of the destination scene. But this is not working! Could someone PLEASE help me? I really need to finish this assignment until tomorrow!!

Cannot Link To Other Scenes
I have a button inside of a movie clip. Actually, the hierarchy is as follows:Movie clip > tween > group >group > the button.

I put a gotoandplay action (for another scene) on the button but it just restarts the current scene.

Am I missing some targeting issue or something?

Duplicated MovieClips Across Scenes And Dynamic Text Trouble
First off, I really appreciate flashkit.com and this board.

Ok, let's say I use the duplicateMovieClip function in the first scene of my movie to create some movieClips. Then let's say my movie proceeds to the second scene:

Are the movieClips I made by duplicating in the first scene deleted?
If not, can I access thier properties somehow from the second scene?
Also, if they're not deleted, how can I avoid duplicating them again if my movie needs to return to the first scene in which they were originally duplicated?

Finally, let's say I have a movieClip containing another movieClip containg some dynamic text. I can change the text value of the dynamic text, and it's _visible property is set at "true", but I can't see it in my movie. Anyone know why?

Can I extend the URL to link directly to a specified scene within flash.

tried everything, nothing seems to work, it's like the button is just ignoring me. here is the .fla

all i need to know how to do is link from the black semi circle (the button) to the animation in the framelable "ball" the "#@$!off" framelabel was just a test but even that doesn't work.

I have created a site using Pro 8 but my question is not restricted to that version. I cannot get my scenes to link together on my site. I have created 5 different Scene folders within my flash file: Home, The Benefit, The Benefit_boxing, Roy, and Sessions. My navigation resides in another folder callled 'Nav'. What i want to know is what kind of specific command do i need to script? Is this one of those root directory commands?

Here is the code Ive got, but obviously it doesnt take me to Scene 2. Do I need to make the EventListener 'myLink1' as well? It also doesnt recognize Scene 2. Is there another way of writing it that actionscript will recognize?
