hi,

i'm having some problems when using the class. It just won't behave as it should, distorting the contents. I'll pos the fla, plus code, plus swf...

How Did Ultrashock Did It?
i have a domain caled www.TEST.SOMETHING and there i use index.html to redirect to www.TEST.OTHER where are all the files. imagens, pdf´s, and swf´s. inside the swf i have a link to some.pdf and it opens another window but it apears www.TEST.OTHER/some.pdf and i want to only have www.TEST.SOMETHING written in the internet explorer address (is it called like thar?!) the links inside ultrashock FORUM, SOURCE FILES we click on them and the Internet explorer adress bar don´t change. how can i do so?! tanks

How'd They Do That On Ultrashock.com?
You know... when you first go to ultrashock.com and move your mouse over a button, it plays some shiney mouse-over animation that brightens and fades. I tried to reproduce it, but it doesn't look the same.

I'm not trying to rip anyone off... just trying to learn.

Is it all done with actionscript?

When i edit the text, all the cirlces become the same...

and how do i make each different circle go to different scenes?

I tried to make ultrashock's tutorial "Physics Tutorial - Wave Motion" ...
Of course it didn't worked cause i am trying to learn flash like 6 days now ... so i download the tut's files ... but the swf file don't work ... when i tried to remove the logo in th fla file it worked in flash8 but when i made it swf didn't work!

Hello guys...

Well everyone can see the ultrashock menu at the top :]

Each time i do a post and click it to navigate to the either home , book reviews , tutorials etc.. the flash movie is loaded each and every time. How to do it ?

I think each and every time the button is clicked the file is loaded from the server.

What do you say guys ?

I just got my grade results from my Flash class in college, 1.25 points from perfect (158.75 out of 160). I think the main reason I did so well are because of folks like Codemonkey and Nutrox (I know there are others, but these two especially came to mind) who willingly take the time to explain both the How? and Why? questions nubies like me come up with (only been doing Flash since September, never touched it before then). One aspect that totally set me apart from my peers in my class was the fact that I used mainly AS in my project, dynamically loaded swf's (Flv, text and stuff at runtime) and a nice array menu (tsunami style). Everyone else did the more animating way using many frames and tons of layers. I had 14 swfs that loaded as needed ranging in size from 2k to 135k with most in the 60-80k range. With the exception of the streaming (progressive downloading) flv's, my final project was all told (with HTML and sound) less than 800k. I got the A+ on the final project, the next highest grade was an A-. The truly funny thing though, his project was the next smallest at 14 mb and one single swf.

Just goes to show the power of AS. My project can run on dialup whereas every other person in the class needed broadband or run off a CD (or even DVD for one guy, he had to use a dual-layer disk for his project, he animated 11,000 frames for his project) for any real use of their projects.

could somebody tell me how to create a similar sort of dynamic loading menu such as the one on ultrashock homepage? I want to try and create something very similar that updates and such.... aybody know of a relevant tutorial? i know how to generate dynamic content from crappy little notepad txt files, but was wondering how to achieve that slick effect US has with theres.

I d-loaded this and am trying to learn it. I tested it out on my http://www.clients.atlasimage.com domain. I can't get it to work. My servers support CGI and I have a CGI-BIN. I can open the SWF online, make an edit, type in the password, and when it processes, it says the Server is Timed Out.

Help?

I am trying to make a preloader that has bars inside a rectangle that moves as nicely as the ultrashock.com preloader does.

But I can't seem to make it, and my preloader also looks twisted. It moves all robotic like tac, tac, tac whereas the ultrashock.com moves all smooth and dynamic like swoosh ... swoosh ... swoosh Anybody feel me?

Ultrashock's Cartoons
Hello,

I just wanna know how Ultrashock's staff made the "cartoons" stuff ( in their intros) . What software did they use ?

Ok so I notice that every time I reajust the size of the window when looking at Ultrashock stuff, everything changes its size accordingly. Is this some sort of scripting function or what? I tried it once and it didn't work out like I wanted it to. Am I stupid and am doing something wrong, or am I stupid and don't know the script, or am I stupid and everyone's just gonna laugh at me.....

Ultrashock Cartoons
I am fairly new to character design within a computer, and would like to go about making an animated series. I am very impressed with Ultrashock's characters style, very simple. What program is best suited for that type fo style? Illustrator vs Flash? Would anyone do something like that within flash? Using what tools? Pen tool mainly? I've hand drawn a sketch of what my charter will look like, however want it to be vector. Anyway, congrats to the community on helping the newbies being the tomorrow's professional.

I am trying to scew mytext mclips similar to what they have done with the text in the ultrashock intro but I am not getting the same effect. I go to transform/Scew then experiement with different degree angle but I am not getting it. Someone please advise.

Ultrashock; The Bit Before The Intro
Hi people,

On this site, you know the bit *before* the intro where the text scrolls out of the Ultrashock star, you know, the bit where you're asked to select pop-up, normal or full screen etc?I love the smooth motion of the text.

I'm comfortable with flash 5 - but not actionscripting. As a first dip into actionscript I wanna reproduce a *simple* movie like the aforementioned as a menu. Is the smoothness lended to the fact that it might be done using actionscript. I've done something like that using motion tween in the frames panel - somehow its not quite as smooth - in all the variations I could manage! How would I go about creating that effect with actionscript? does anybody know of a tutorial tilted towards this effect that could help me along? Indeed Ultrashock - feel free to give me your secret!!!! <wink>

Hi friends,

Are there any examples (.fla’s) of the menu used in this site? I really like the action when you move your mouse over it (fade in and out effect) and the forum menu that slides out. Could someone please help me with this?

Is Ultrashock.com's Intro Done With Swish 2.0?
Does anyone know if http://www.Ultrashock.com 's intro was done with Swish 2.0? I love the way it switches between the 3D boxes. I'm pretty sure it could be done with the Illustrate! 5.1 plugin for 3D Studio Max, but is Swish 2.0 any easier?

UltraShock Dynamic Menu
ey guys first post on here and many more to come I am sure. I have a simple question on a FLA I downloaded from ultrashock.

Currently when you rollover a button the submenu drops down, but I was wanting to make that drop down menu animate above the button that is rolled over.Make sense? For some reason I just don't see where you make this change in the code.

Anyone have an idea?

I have created a file that pulls the rss feed from ultrashock and displays all of the information using components in Flash Pro 2004. I can't get it to work online but when I view it locally it works fine.

Making It Center Like Ultrashock

When i view with 1024 res.. it appears proper and when it view at 800 res it is not getting aligned to center.

Ultrashock Odometer Modifications?
Hi,

Newbie here - please be gentle!

Just bought the Odometer counter from Ultrashock, hoping I would be able to work out how to modify it, but my actionscript is rusty to say the least.

What I would like is to start with all the dials spinning away at full speed for an indefinite amount of time until a key/button is pressed at which point the dials would resolve to a pre-determined number.

Bearing in mind I'm easily confused , could anyone of you clever people point me in the right direction?

Ultrashock Tutorial Not Working?

ive just read the tutorial on the preloader component for mx2004 here-

it dosnt seem to work, i downloaded the source files and tested them but they dont seem to work either?

The preloder bar just apears, dosnt advance, and then shows the loaded content. I stuck a 1 meg mp3 in the lloader_content.swf. I put all the files on a server and oy just dosnt work? The preloader apears, pauses for about 5 seconds and then plays the content? the bar dosnt advance at all.

are there any nice and SIMPLE pre loaders for mx2004 out there? the kind you can just drop on the first frame of a swf to load the content in. it seems everything in mx2004 is over complicated!

it works fine.. the way it is.. if i load any SWF into a level..or by itself...
problems only occur when i load it into a TARGET host ...

I have a blank MC on level 1 that loads the external SWF with the above code in the scene "load"..

it just sits there..... dont want to go any further...

again..works only if i dont load into a TARGET blank MC..

if i take off the loader scene with the above code..it will load into TARGET with no problem.

any tip??
