Flash :: Update Flash Player In Flash MX 2004

Update MX 2004 .fla To Flash 8 .fla?
Can I somehow automatically copy the Screens in an existing MX 2004 Pro .fla and paste them into a Flash 8 Pro .fla template?

Then I would like to close the old MX 2004 .fla and save the new v8 .fla with the same name as the old .fla?
(Of course all the MX 2004 files are backed up elsewhere!)

I don't know anything about Projects, but could one help with this? Sort of like a macro?

I would like to get this help as quickly as possible because I NEEDED this capability yesterday! ...Like maybe get help today?

Flash 2004 Update
Hi guys,

After updating to flash 2004, my external swfs are not loading when i use flash 7 player under publish settings. When i switch back to flash 6 player, it works.

This script i'm using for loading swf:

name_mc.loadMovie("relative path here");

name_mc is the empty movie clip.

It's strange that one clip loaded but others are not loading using flash player 7 as an output.

What could be the reason?

Hello anyone,
I just did an update of my Windows XP Home Edition. Prior to that I was working really, really well for about 2 weeks with Flash MX 2004. I did NOT notice any performance issues whatsoever. Then all of a sudden AFTER THE WINDOWS UPDATE - Flash MX 2004 slowwwwwss down.

After a little investigation I discovered 35 "Windows XP Hotfix (SP2)Q817606"; the Q817606 represent the last number; they're different on all of the 35 programs. My question is: Do I need ALL these Windows program to run? I believe they're the ones slowing me down.

How To Update The IDE Flash Player?
Hi,

I know it's supposed to be easy, but it turned out to be problem. :-(

I wan't to be able to view h264 encoded mp4 videos when I test my site in Flash CS3. However, I can't find a way to update the player. I tried googling it, cause I thought it should be really common case, but I found no useful results.

I have current 9.0.124 players working in both IE and FF. The only problem is the test player in Flash IDE.

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this problem but...

So I have built a couple of sites in flash cs4 using as3.0 and they work just fine on my computer as swfs. I have built a quick site in dreamweaver cs4 where all I do is embed the swf into an html page. I test in the browser and it works great everytime. I upload the page to my server with the js active content scripts etc... and no dice. it always says that I need a newer version of flash to view the content on the page. I don't understand. I have updated and still the same warning. The pages have been published to both player 9 and 10 but still the same problem. As a note I am using bluehost if that makes any difference.

Okay I feel really dumb asking this but why in the world doesn't my flash player update? A friend sent me a swf made in flash 8. I have mx04. When I launch the swf it runs in flash player 7! I have downloaded the most recent player and have seen other stuff made in flash 8 but for some reason i can't view all the objects in his swf because it won't run in an updated player. Grrrr . . . I feel so stupid, what am I doing wrong?

How Does A User's Flash Player Update?
I've read that the Flash Player plugin for Internet Explorer gets updated automatically through ActiveX if the user visits a site that requires a more current Flash Player (and specifies it in its html code).

As for my question, how does the Flash Player get updated if the user is using a browser other than IE on Windows? Does the "codebase" attribute work for these browsers as well, or on a Mac? If not, is there a way we can ensure that everybody viewing our content is doing so with an up-to-date Flash Player? Thanks.

Update Player 9.0.47.0 - Not Reflected In Flash CS3
I just installed the recent player files version 9.0.47.0 in the players directory and updated the browser plugins after uninstalling the old ones as descipes in the tech-note. When I use Flash CS3 and run code to show the version (System.capabilities.version) i get the a string saying "9.0.45.0". If i run the player directly from within the directory C:...Players it give the correct version. Does the update not affect the autering tool? I might have missed something.
The same thing happens with the update for flash player 8.

Problems After Flash Player Update

i am writing because i have some strange sensations in my application after i updated my flash player to version 9,0,115,0.
this is the problem:
i have a dynamic textfield with htmlt text, in this html text i have some img-tags which i use to add Sprites into the htmltext that have some kind of user interactivity (rollover, click...).

until now everything worked fine, just with the update i have the problem that i lost the interactivity to this objects.
just some sprites which have embedded assets from a swf have the interactivity (rollover, click...) but also jsut on the embedded symbols and not on the whole sprite.
example: if i put the event on the sprite:
this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, doSomething)

the event will be just dispatched if i click on the embedded symbols.

i tried Security.allowDomain('*') but this didnt solved my problem
its like i am getting no focus on the sprite.

like i said before... it was working before the update :-(

Hi,

Looking on the Macromedia site it says there is no way to prevent AUTO UPDATE.

I NEED to prevent this process .. cant have 10k users all going out one at a time to get the update.

We dont deploy flash as standard to our org, as non of the internal web sites need it - eg it just for normal web surfing use.

Anyone know of anything such as a reg key change or is it hardcoded into flash?

Flash Player Update Issues
Hey guys.

I've recently encountered an issue at my work PC where the Flash Player in the IDE is not exporting with the latest flash player. I have repeatedly updated, uninstalled and re-installed the player from my system but continuously run into the same problem.
Basically I've got a project where I'm using HD video, and the latest flash player v: 9,0,115,0 is not used in the publication, instead it defaults back to v: 9,0,45,0. So when trying to preview my movie inside flash I am greeted with a blank screen, however when I view the .swf from my project folder it plays using the 9,0,115,0 player and works fine.

Has anyone experienced this problem? I have torn apart the Adobe website for some patches/fixes but everything I have tried has been ineffective in sorting this problem.
Also, I've used KewBee Plugin Switcher as well, but that doesn't allow me to install a later version either.

Would really appreciate some input on this if anyone has some info.

I have a flash 5 movie with an access DB using ASP 3.0 to pass data. It works great, the problem is I need this chunk of code below to work in a Flash 8 movie and I am not sure why it throws errors when I try to compile it into a Flash 8 swf

The code works great as long as I compile it to Flash Player 5, otherwise it throws errors. I am not sure where the syntax goes wrong or what should be used intstead. Usually Flash will automatically upconvert old /deprecated code so I am confused as to what exactly I need to do.

Flash 8 Wants To Update Player (why) Video Embedded
I have a flash movie created with Flash MX set to Flash Player 7 and Action Script 2.0 with an embedded MOV file.

A user with Flash 8.22 can't see the movie in IE because he gets a need to update Active X message. Unfortunately he does not have admin privileges to allow Flash Player to update.

What I would like an answer to is why is Flash 8 not running this movie in the first place???

Flash Player 9 Update Causes Security Error
I'm experiencing a security error in the just released Flash 9 Player Update (9.0.60 and higher) that I did not experience in prior versions of Flash 9 player (9.0.47 and below).

The situation I'm encountering:
1. I access a web service over HTTPS from a Flex application hosted on HTTPS on a different server.
2. The HTTPS service being accessed has a crossdomain.xml file in the root permitting access by my Flex application.
3. The service can be accessed without problems when the Flex application is running inside Flash Player 9.0.47 and below.
4. When the serviced is accessed from a Flex application running in Flash Player 9.0.60 and higher on Windows (IE or Firefox), I get a â€œSecurity error accessing urlâ€ error.

Flash Player 6 Action Scripts Update Help.
I have some code that needs to be updated to work in Flash Player 8. I've received advice, but because I'm still learning Action Script I'm not able to make sense of it.
Here's the code that needs to be updated:

Macromedia Forcing User To Update Flash Player
About 2 years ago I developed an e-learning module using flash 5. Published as Flash 5. I have not touched it since...

However, I got a call the other day from the client saying that they can not access the content and the broweser (I.E 5.5) is asking them to install flash player 7 (They already have flash player 6 installed).

Is this a macromedia thing? forcing all users to update in order to view old content as well? Has anybody witnesses something similer?

note: unfortuntley, the client is a big company with a big firewall, so updating the plater ins't so simple...

Flash Player Auto Update Causing Problems
A Flash mini ap that I created for my university is causing some problems. The issue lies in that some users on campus don't have the latest version of flash player on their computer. When they try to access the page with the mini ap on it the page freezes. The freeze arises when the player tries do download the current version. The University's filter recognizes this as peer to peer for some reason and marks it as low priority in regards to bandwidth. The player takes a long time to download and the page freezes up.

Is there a solution to this? Can I disable the auto download feature in flash?

I have a Flash file that only displays in Flash 8. Is there a script I can put into page that will prompt user to download new Flash player if Flash 8 is not detected? I'd like to see this prompt come up in place of the Flash graphic, which displays, but with missing elements. Flash Player 9 On Mac Searching For Debugger On Flash MX 2004 Swf
Hey guys-

I need some help and cannot figure it out. I have Flash MX 2004, made my swf file, and it plays just fine on Flash Player 7 (Safari, Firefox, IE etc.) on PC and MAC. Now, 2 people told me that on MAC with Flash 9 the browser (Safari or Firefox) comes up with a pop-up window stating "please locate debugger" and gives then a choice between local or remote computer. And then the file is not being displayed.

Now-how can I fix this? And why can Flash Player 9 on MAC not play it?

Please, help, I need to get this done...and I am in a big jam. I tried even to open up with Flash CS 3 and it cannot open the file!

Flash MX 2004 Actionscript 2.0 And Flash Player 6
Hi All!
At my job, we have encountered a challenge to create a project, BUT the kicker is it needs to be converted for Flash Player 6. Right now, we currently have everything created in Flash MX 2004, using actionscript 2.0, classes, built in classes, and using some UI Components. I do realize that in the Flash Player 6, CSS can not be recognized, and UI Components in v2 won't work correctly...

Can we use Actionscript 2.0 programming to build our project, and export for Flash Player 6? I know this would be creating a lot of things from scratch or would it just make sense to program in actionscript 1.0.......

People who have experienced this issue in the past, it would be greatly appreciated to hear your end and what suggestions you may have or work arounds that helped you through this. Thanks so much!

Flash Player 6 And Flash 2004 MX Compatability

I have a quick issue with Flash Player 6 and Flash 2004 MX. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem? And if so, is there a resolution?

I pretty much followed the Actionscript 3d Cube tutorial to the tee and published it using Macromedia Flash 2004 MX. I view the movie with Flash player 7 and everything is fine. My problem is when I get to work, the cube does not show at all. The only thing that I can identify is that the player at work is version 6. I cannot update it because of permission issues.

When I bring up the Actionscript 3d Cube tutorial at work, the sample DOES show the cube rotating. I'm believe though that the work was created and published using Flash MX or older.

Now as a programmer, you must understand that I would like the movie to be viewed under both versions. Can someone tell me how I can solve this problem?

MX 2004 With AS 1 And Flash Player 6
Here is my situation. I have a Flash movie that was built in MX and uses Flash remoting. Our development environment changed to using MX 2004. So I then ported it to MX 2004 and Published out as a Flash Player 6 with Actionscript v1.0 still using Flash remoting.

Now the movie works great on a machine with Flash Player 7 but as soon as it runs on a machine with Flash Player 6 installed, the darn thing breaks.

Are there any known or unknown issues with the configuration I have described above:

1. MX 2004
2. Published to Flash Player 6
3. Published to Actionscript v1.0
4. Flash Remoting

MX 2004 Errors With Flash Player 6
I am using Flash MX 2004 to create simple, interactive circut diagram animations for an online learning program. The problem I am having is that some of the students are using Flash Player 6 to few the swf's, and when they are fewed in Player 6, the image does not show up as it was design (some of the lines of the drawings disappear, etc). The animations work perfectly in Flash Player 7, obviously since I am using MX 2004, and that is the default...
I tried publishing the animations out as a Flash Player 6 swf, to see if that would make the animation work perfectly in Flash Player 6, but it did not seem to help at all.

Is this a common problem?

Any suggestions on how to get around this? Any would be greatly appreciated, as it would simpler than explaining to all of the students that they must download Flash Player 7.

MP3 Player Tweak...Flash MX 2004
OK so I have had an mp3 player on the site for a year or so. Now we want to tweak it so that when the pause button is pushed it loads a 10 second looping sound clip. I have that looping sound clip set up as an external swf to load but I cannot seem to figure out the right code to put on the pause/resume button to get it to load the 10 second looping external swf on pause then unload it on resume play. The player loads mp3s from an XML file. This is the code for the pause/resume button

Flash MX 2004 (not Pro) Media Player
Does anyone know of any freeware components that simulate most of the look and functionality of the MediaPlayer component in Flash MX 2004 (un-pro)? I can cobble together various bits of it jankily myself, but I can't seem to produce anything that works quite so well or looks quite so pretty. If there's a tutorial or thread out there on building a similar tool for FMx04, would be much appreciated also. Thanks in advance.

Can't Install Flash MX Player 2004 7.0
Hi everybody,

I'm pretty new to Macromedia software. I tried to install the Flash MX Player 2004 7.0 recently and it prompted me to choose a compatible browser for the Flash to run on. I'm not quite sure what does that mean but I think it's IE or Netscape? Since I have an IE, I chose the folder and install the Flash in the folder.

Then, I went to Flash MX 2004 7.01 Update and it doesn't allow me to update because it said that the Flash MX 2004 is not installed in my computer.

Does that mean I have not installed the Flash MX Player 2004 yet? What should I do? Please help!!!

Default Player Detection With Flash Mx 2004 Pro
I created a simple movie which should detect if the player is missing (with default options on "check flash player" checkbox).

I then uninstalled flash player with the app found on macromedia site.

Then when I try it out it suggests to download the player as it should, but then when I download and install the player, the page i Created still only loads: "myDetectiveMovie_alternate.html" ?

any ideas why does this happen?

Also, is there any way NOT to leave the original page for installing the player (or maybe automatically return to after installing has finished?)

Flash Mx 2004 Video Player Problems
Ok,
I have created a flash video player... the navigation is raw form but that is not my problem.
I not much of a programmer but my team and I are all baffle.
when u click on the navigation... it calls SWF files to play in the container area...
Seems logical and easier for multiple people to create the necessary clips.
BUT...
The quizzes that I have put in it are the Flash Quiz Template #2... it HAS to be SCORM compliant. When it is loaded into the video player- it won't let you get past the 1st page of the quiz.
when I create the player in an html page I am STILL not able to get it to work.
But when I play the quiz on its own... it works just fine...

So we are thinking maybe just create the test in an "outside" htm page but would prefer not to ... because I would have to give the same look.
