Victory Is Mine


After about 2 weeks of fighting with all the possible different scroll panels in Flash, I finally made my own. The best part - it even works. Eat that stupid components.

VICTORY Now What?
I created a VERY simple flash site. It pretty much is something I could have done with Javascript. However, I want to embellish on what I have done, I need ideas though!

How To, An Idea Of Mine
Basically the idea is relatively simple. I want to have a static image of a tv (the tv itself doesn't do anything). Then, I wish to have a staticy, old-time looking show on it's screen (an effect theres a tutorial for). My question is, I wish to have the tv start out very small, and slowly/smoothly grow larger (like a zoom in). Do I have to make these two movies seperate and then place them together. Or can I create the static effect within the tv, and then make it one, so they can zoom in appropriately? Thanks.

Child Of Mine
I want to play specific sections of a movieclip that is nested inside my movie.
I have made a test .fla with a movieclip containing a red circle and a yellow circle as clips.
I have a movie clip called mask_mc which is used as a mask to reveal the contents of the yellow clip.
I have the following code in the main_mc to send the playhead inside my mask_mc to the "WIPE" keyframe.
It isn't playing ball.

Code:
box_mc.yellow_mc.mask_mc.gotoAndPlay("WIPE");

Can you see what is wrong with this line of command code.

I think this is quite a simple thing, but I dont know where my error is.

Preloader Script: Mine Sux
Who has a great preloder script that does the number countdown or percentage of load accomplished?
All my loaders seem to stall ( I had an image of skull that strobed till the flash was loaded ) and it seemed to hang 6-8 seconds before final load.
So I am going to the pros... who has a great preloader script I can steal?

Shape Tweening Help, Mine Goes Crazy...
Hey,

Can someone help, tell, or point me to a tutorial on shape tweening.. Usually shape tweening is easy when dealing with shapes, like making a suqare turn into a circle.. but when I have tried it with lines (making boxes) and want them to morph to smaller boxes, it turns out looking like crap... lines go all over the page before it ends in the result I want. Instead I want a smooth tween to the result I want.

Pretty much I am trying to something really similar to this movie, when you minimize and maxamize it.

Don't Know How To Make Submenu In Mine Menu Bar

Many Posts About Rollout Probs, Not Mine Tho
i did a pretty thorough search and can't seem to quite find a fix for my particular issue, and i'm having no luck using creative methods of applying the common wisdom.

1. anim with invis button inside same mc. invis button has two hit areas depending on frame.
2. up state is menu header (small hit size).
3. over state is menu unfolding animation (large hit size)
4. out state is menu falling away (not a reversal of over state)
5. i want it to play over anim completely through, regardless of user interaction (i.e., rolling over again won't restart, rolling out won't cut it short, etc.)
6. rollout needs to "wait in line" for over state anim to finish. which removing the invisbutton from the frames containing the over anim would not allow
7. (in regard to a particular element only; they can interrupt animations within other instances) no anim should interrupt any other anim in progress but should not be cancelled, only delayed until current is done; however i'm concerned about accumulation - i don't want 15 out animations stacking up while they wait for the preceding ones to finsih).

i guess 6 and 7 are kinda the same thing but i'll leave both for the sake of clarity.

A Script Of Mine Randomly Works.
This code right here makes a textbox thats already on the screen show up if you the variable is set (showtextbox). Well, it comes up when you press "A" (key "65"). Well, it also closes when you press "A". When you release "A", a variable is set but it seems like sometimes it doesnt read if you let go of the key. Can you help me fix this? I need it to close only when the player presses down A. Thanks.

Am I Allowed To Plug A Great Book (not Mine)
Hi i am really really new to Flash so i got myself a book, works for me, and it is brilliant. Its called Sams teach yourself Flash in 24 hrs, (takes a mite longer LOL. Having seen some of the threads here it was money well spent. Oh it cost about $30. Hope it helps!

Is anyone using Flash 2004 - what has been your experience?

Mine has been horrible thus far! It is slower than smoke off cold poop, I am experiencing many bugs from the new locking feature on objects for width and height, to problems copying frames and objects off the stage. Not to mention the horrible bugs I am experiencing using the new Swift3d Express plugin - like all objects on the stage in _root being deleted when I save seomthing created with the plugin to a Flash movie (note: this is a different bug than that listed in the readme where everything gets deleted on the stage if you cancel from the plugin and you already have information copied to the clipboard).

I am disappointed.

AS 2.0 - Whats Your Preloading Strategy? Mine Isint Working.
Hi all,
I was wondering how people are targeting the flash 6 player with AS 2.0 in regard to a preloading class.
I tried implementing a loader class written by Ralf Bolkenburg into my own classes. I get an error message saying that my line of code that is instantiating the loader object is not permitted within my class. The below class has more features than i need, I would love to have a "barebones" version of this class

I've been swimming through many posts on preloading. Does anyone have a simple, elegant AS 2.0 preloader class they want to share? I guess my main problem is that I cant seem to set onData or onEnterFrame event from an external class(object) to a MovieClip created from that class(object) in my main movie(.fla)

I would just use the MovieClipLoader class, but I dont want to force my users to upgrade to flash player 7

Basically I have my own image class, I want to import a preloader class into it so that I can set my container MC(created by createEmptyMovieClip) width and height to the size of the jpg(or swf) once it has loaded.
I instantiate my custom image object like so:

A Friend Of Mine Is Looking For A Company To Build Him A Flash Website.
I can't really be of much help since I don't know flash. So what I told him I would do is find a company to do it. He lives in Ga and I would like to find him a good reputable talented company. Any places you would suggest? He has money to spend so it won't be a huge issue.

Friend Of Mine Trying To Make A DVD From A Huge Flash Animation........ URGENT :(
here's an email I got from a close friend and I am clueless... any help is MUCH appreciated, thanks.

Here's my problem:

I am creating a DVD for jen's soccer team in flash. You can export as an AVI
from flash and use the AVI to burn a DVD, which I have done and finished,
however flash won't let me export anything big enough to look good on
screen. I took it home last night after I got it done and popped it into my
DVD player and it looks like CRAP! I've tried increasing the exported size
but the AVIs I get when I do that are F#@%ed up.

Now, the award banquet is tomorrow so I'm stressing as to what to do. What I
think I might try is just exporting as a SWF so I can plug a laptop into the
TV, however I have a new problem! When I put the movies together to make one
long movie, the flash file is like 28,000 frames long and all animations
after 16,000 don't work. I was thinking I would just make it two movies, but
then how can I make the second movie play when the first one is done? Can I
add an actionscript at the end that says "go play next movie" or something?

I'm really pissed cuz I made up DVD cases for all the girls so I could give
them a copy and now I can't even get it to play. HELP!

I already did the necessary dist and fov precalculations for the camera earlier (where "camWidth" is also the amount of rays used) . I also clamped the player rotation to be from 0 degrees to 359 degrees. But somehow it just doesn't work for the quadrant beyond 180 degrees. The thing is, when my character goes from 0 degrees (facing straight rightwards) to 180 degrees (facing straight leftwards), somehow once my character crosses the 180 degree mark into the top-left quadrant, all previously-seen sprites from the bottom-left quadrant behind the 180 degree mark mysteriously vanishes while all sprites above the 180 degree mark (in top-left quadrant) doesn't appear either. It's like for some strange reason, the top-left and bottom-left quadrant are 2 seperate sectors or something...And no sprites are shown in the top-left quadrant at all. However, if looking into the top-left quadrant, i can still see sprites from the top-right quadrant ( 270 degrees onwards).

Whether i use atan (with the angle fix calculations) or atan2...it doesn't make a difference. Can someone Pleeease help?!??
