Video Stops And Audio Continues - Individual Scenes Work, Together Video Freezes

This is my first flash project ever, but I think I got a handle on layers, scenes, using streamed audio, etc. The sync works for every scene when tested independently. Those exported .swf run fine. But when I try to publish the entire movie as a .swf or .exe or any other format, it always freezes at a certain point. The video stops but the audio continues.

Can anyone help me or give me an idea of where to start diagnosing the issue?

I've resorted to converting each individual .swf into .avis then combining the segments into the video that I want, but, of course, this doesn't retain the size, scalability, and quality benefits of a .swf file. Please help!

Help - Picture Transition Stops - Audio Continues In .exe File
there is audio playing in the background... (boring as all get out) so I had to show stupid random pictures that fade in and out... for almost 3-4 minutes... and about 3 pictures away from the end... the audio in the background keeps playing... but the picture transitions stop. I can even hear the end video (a very short clip) at the end play and stop - so it obviously opened as well... but the frame is still frozen to the one picture. You can still click buttons - and go to a different section, so the program doesn't freeze... its the weirdest thing.

I can't find any thing in the flash file that is stopping it (action script) or effecting it... I have swapped out pictures. Removed the picture all together... deleted and added the layer again. Changed the audio from stream to event... saved as a different file name... still the same thing - at the same place - when published as an .exe

It does not happen when I "play scene"... which makes me think the file is just too big... any suggestions?

Video Stops / Pauses When Audio Starts
Hi there...

We're attempting to integrate an A/V private message app (see it at http://www.flashcoms.com/products/site_mail/overview/) into our existing site. It's our first foray into FMS apps.

Here's the problem: Recording video with no audio is fine. If you record video with audio, it hangs for a few seconds once the audio kicks in. What I mean by that is this: if you record a 20-second video, but don't start talking until 7 seconds into it, it will pause for about 5 seconds upon playback right at the mark where you start talking (in this example case, at 7 seconds into file).

I've checked the flv's on the server and downloaded them to my local machine, and the pause is still there when I playback locally, meaning the problem is created when the file is being recorded.

Anyone experience this before? Problem with FMS or the app itself? I don't have any other FMS apps installed - if someone could point me to a very simple webcam record/playback app I could easily install that would be great, that way I could test if other apps behave the same way.

Thanks!

Shane

Audio Starts On Click/stops/and Finaly Starts Correct With Video
Hi there...

When ActionScript 3 the video on the FMS2 starts,
begins audio (sound) during the buffering (to early).
If after the buffering the streaming of the video (images)
starts, begins the audio again, correctly with the video
together from scratch.

The project is online - choose another clip:

F8 Video Encoder - All Video Stops After 2 Sec.
Each time I convert a video from whatever format to FLV the video gets created but when I go to play the video it always plays for about 2 seconds and stops. The play button won't start the movie again, the only way for the movie to continue is to drag the progress arrow a few stops, then the video will finish playing. This happens with every video I convert, I don't get it.

Thanks.

Making A Music Video -- Audio-video Sync?
Apparently, the sound file must be set to stream to assure synchronization.

I also read this somewhere:

Note that it's critical to add a preloader to allow the music file to properly stream down to the player before playback begins. With the sound file set to Stream, the animation and song may be out of step with each other if this step is not taken.

What does this mean? If the song it's set to stream it just isnt loaded in the preloader -- how do I make it load?

One more question, what is the optimal framerate for a music video? 30?

No Video (only Audio) When Playing Basic Video Player.
Hey everyone.
I used to be fairly good at flash, and then i had a break. Now i'm struggling with this really simple problem, that no one else seems to be having...

Here is my actionscript for playing the video

Code:

var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
nc.connect(null);

var ns:NetStream = new NetStream (nc);

theVideo.AttachVideo(ns);

ns.play("antena1wheel_1.flv");

When i preview it, it comes up with the white stage, and you can hear the sound... but no sign of any video.

Thanks, and appologies for my stupidity...

Tim =)

NetStream.seek() Freezes Video
This thing is driving me nuts!

I'm setting up a video class that loads an FLV. It currently loads and plays the video fine. I have a method called 'position' that takes a number between 0 and 1 and translates that into a location to seek to. That almost works perfectly as well. The problem is that, if I seek() to a time that is within approximately the last 10% of the video duration, it freezes. If allowed to play, it plays right through the last 10% with no problem. It only hangs up when seeked to.

Here is the work file so you can see: http://www.indivision.net/box/videotest/
Ignore the scrub bar there as its not hooked up to the video. If you click on position to .5 it works fine. But you will see that it freezes when you position to .9 which seeks to the last 10%.

I've seen other FLV players that don't have this problem so there has to be some kind of work around. I've gone over my code with a fine toothed comb already and can't determine where the error is.

Anyway, I hope I'm not the only person who has had this problem. Any information would be greatly appreciated and/or a link to a simple (free and with source) flv player with a scrub bar that works cleanly would be great.

Import Video Into Individual Frames
Hi Fellow Flashees

Maybe you can help.
I'm importing a .mov into my flash doc.
I know I create frames to view it, but how do I break the movie up into individual keyframes that can be minipulated and cut or moved around.

I know I've done it before but can't remember how.

I only want to use a very tiny part of the .mov.

Anyway, hope you can help.
My main problem is not knowing if it is actually possible to break the movie up into individual keyframes (basically a different bitmap in every frame.

Mc Stops But Sound Continues
I have a one frame master timeline. On this frame I have some mc that play illustrations of shapes being formed when a button is pressed. On the coordinating frames of these mc I have added narration to the timeline. The mc's all visually start and stop when the corresponding buttons are clicked however sound continues playing resulting in narrations for multiple shapes being formed regardless of which shape's mc is playing.
How can I stop the sound of one mc when the next mc starts?
I'ma bit of a greenhorn so go easy on me. Thanks

Video Stops Streaming
I've got a FLV streaming in. When the video ends, it goes to an intro screen. On the intro screen is a button to play the video again. However, it doesn't work! The video starts coming in and stops. I've got an interval that fades out the intro screen to reveal the video. If I get rid of that then it works better, but it stops if I move near where the button was-even if I disable it.

Code:
intro.playVideo.onPress = function() {
var my_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
my_nc.connect(null);
var my_ns:NetStream = new NetStream(my_nc);
my_ns.onStatus = function(infoObject:Object):Void {
trace("status ("+this.time+" seconds)
");
trace(" Level: "+infoObject.level+"
");
trace(" Code: "+infoObject.code+"

");
};
my_video.attachVideo(my_ns);
my_ns.setBufferTime(2);
my_ns.play("Amy Trialaaaa.flv");
loop = setInterval(f, 10);
function f() {
intro._alpha -= 5;
if (intro._alpha<=0) {
clearInterval(loop);
}
}
trace("you pressed the play video button");
};
It streams fine when it starts, its when it gets to here. I set a cookie when you watch the video with an expiry date on it so you don't have to watch the video every time you go to the hompage. Instead you get the option to view it or a simple welcome screen. Could that be causing problems?

Flash Video Stops Before It Should
Hi, I don't know if this question has been asked/solved before but I can't find on search. But basically I have an AVI file which I exported as FLV, I followed a tutorial on the best settings to use, and I think it's ok. I import the video into Flash (am using Flash 8) as Progressive download (the video is about 4 minutes with sound) and then publish. When I get the result it's only 36K (from about 22MB) and it cuts out about a minute into it. Sound is perfect, video is great but it just stops too soon. I"ve tried loads of methods including Embedding, exporting as a Mov, playing about with frame rates and data rates but no joy. Can anyone help me? It's really driving me nuts.

Thanks

[F8] Music Keeps Playing Even Though Video Stops
Ok here is where I am. I searched and found variables of this problem but I'm not sure their fixes will be mine since it's not exact. So here goes:

I have a video with no sound. It's in .flv format. I also have a mp3 that I want to play along with it. I initally loaded the video (numerous different ways) onto the stage. Then I either made another layer for the mp3 or I used to the sound and sync options with the video itself. But the problem I am having is the video plays with my mp3 perfectly. It's just that when I hit the stop button, the video stop but the music keeps on playing. This is a video going on my web site. The only reason someone would hit stop is if maybe they are at work or something and don't want to here the music. But in any case I know this is a simple problem, but I just can't seem to fix it. Is there a way around it without some log complicated AS?

I just need the solution by the numbers.

Thanks!

Video Playback Suddenly Stops
I'm creating a video player that will play 3 videos. They are between 5 - 9 minutes each. I have 3 buttons on the stage, & when one is clicked, I want the corresponding video to play. Below is the code I have. This is semi-working. The videos play when clicked, but they all just stop part of the way into the video & won't play any more. I can't think for the life of me why this is, as I thought it was only embedded video that had a time limit. Below is the code I have:

ActionScript Code:
// ---------- Load Video

var myVideo:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
myVideo.connect(null);
var newStream:NetStream = new NetStream(myVideo);

var videoLoader:Video = new Video(520, 390);
MovieClip(this.parent).addChild(videoLoader);
videoLoader.attachNetStream(newStream)

// ---------- Load Video when clicked

function btnClick(e:Event):void {
    if (e.target.name == "vid1_btn") {
        newStream.play("media/test/video1.flv");
        newStream.addEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR, errorhandler);
        function errorhandler(myevent:AsyncErrorEvent) {
            //Ignore Error
        } else if (e.target.name == "vid2_btn") {
        newStream.play("media/test/video2.flv");
        newStream.addEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR, errorhandler);
        function errorhandler(myevent:AsyncErrorEvent) {
            //Ignore Error
        } else if (e.target.name == "vid3_btn") {
        newStream.play("media/test/video3.flv");
        newStream.addEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR, errorhandler);
        function errorhandler(myevent:AsyncErrorEvent) {
            //Ignore Error
        }

If anyone has any idea whats going on or is able to point me in the right direction, that'd be amazing! Thanks in advance.

Netstream Seek Stops The Video
hi
i m trying to make a loop at the end of an FLV movie, played by a NetStream object. At a second or so before the end of it, i m doing a "seek" on the stream to some point in the middle of the video. This usually work, and after the "seek" i get a "Notify" event from the NetStream.

From time to time, this fails, and instead of "Notify" i get "Stop", and the movie stops playing. It seems to have something to do with the point i jump FROM (and not TO) - close to the end (0-3 seconds) it happens (not consistently), 3 or more seconds before the end it doesn't.

Is this a bug with NetStream? did any1 see this behavior b4?

                trace("No such stream.");
            }
            else if(infoObject.code == "NetStream.Buffer.Full"){
                _root.filmPreloader._alpha=0;
            }
            else if(infoObject.code == "NetStream.Play.Stop"){
                netStream.pause(false);//nicht wieder starten
                this.stopFlv();
            }

            trace("Status (NetStream)");
            trace("Level: "+infoObject.level + ", ");
            trace("Code: "+infoObject.code + ".");
            trace("Buffer: " +netStream.bufferLength);
            trace("BufferTime: " +netStream.bufferTime);

        }
        _root.videoFenster.attachVideo(netStream);
        netStream.setBufferTime(500);
        netStream.play("./flv/"+dateiName);
    }

this.erste.onRelease = function(){
    ladeFlv("tb0.flv");

Video Stops During Remote Playback
Relative Flash Video newbie here, so please be patient...

Have created a swf (in Flash 8) in which I imported a wmv file. This file is a 15 second ad.
Added the swf to an HTML page using DW8.
Plays locally without problems.

Uploaded the swf, flv, html and controller file (can't remember the file extension atm) that allows users to play and mute the video.

When viewed online, the webpage loads ok, and the video starts automatically (by design), but stops after playing about 4 seconds of footage. You can press the Play button again, and the video starts, but again stops at the same spot (this isn't a bandwidth issue - I have plenty, and the video file is 3MB).

An aside: I had origianally had this problem and thought I'd resolved it (I'd forgotten to upload the FLV).

Interestingly enough, after uploading the webpage the video worked perfectly, the two or three times I tested it. It's only later (maybe an hour or so) that now it doesn't work. I've also had a friend test this, and he's seeing the same problem. We're both using FireFox, but I've also tested it using IE (if this make any difference).

Any ideas?

When A Video Stops Playing In Flash?
I've got a question that is probably simple for most of you to answer ...

Once a video that is embedded into a flash movie stops playing is there a way to tell once it has stopped so that once it has - it tells the movie to go to the next frame or next scene or to do some other type of action?

Thanks!

Streaming FLV And Perform Task After Video Stops
First let me explain my directory structure:

main.fla
|
|-videos/
|-content/
|-lesson1/
|-lesson2/
|-lesson2_01.fla

It's primative, but should break out the location of my videos directory, the main fla and the different lessons which are called.

The Main is the base SWF file that runs everything. In that, I'll call different SWF (pages). In this case I have a page requiring a FLV to run. After doing some research, I've come to the depressing conclusion that I can net stream an FLV file (without a server), if the file doesn't exist in the same or lower directory stucture than the file calling it. In other words, if Lesson2_01 is calling a FLA from the videos directory, it won't work because I'm navigating ABOVE my calling directory stucture. That is the initial problem. So I'm trying to engineer a work around....I have two ideas. If anyone could help with either or both I would be most appreciative

First here is the basic code I'm using to call the FLV:

Code:
var vid:Video = new Video(vidData.w, vidData.h);
vid.x = vidData.x;
vid.y = vidData.y;
(someone).addChild(vid);

//Set up the net connection
nc = new NetConnection();
nc.connect(null);

//Set up the net stream
ns = new NetStream(nc);
vid.attachNetStream(ns);

//Now generate a path based on the currently selected page
vidPath = "videos/" + course._dirName.toUpperCase() + "_" + course._currentScreen.screenName + ".flv";

//Allow us to ignore the onMetaData call, which will automatically happen
var listener:Object = new Object();
listener.onMetaData = function(evt:Object):void {};
ns.client = listener;

//Finally stream and play the video
ns.play(vidPath);

Work Around 1:
I created the Video Class within Lesson2_01 and call back to the Main to stream the file. I want the Main to handle the stream and send the video back to the video component in the Lesson2_01. This doesn't produce an error nor does the FLV display. I'm passing the video class from the Lesson2_01 to the Main, but nothing is visible. Which prompted me to come up with Work Around 2.

Work Around 2:
I'll call a function from Lesson2_01 that with have the Main create the video component and stream the video. Passing the x, y, width, and height, I actually see the video on the screen (YEAH!!!). The problem is what happens after. In many cases, I need to perform something AFTER the video is complete. I need to call a function in Lesson2_01 but keep running into a problem. In the original pass from Lesson02_01 to the Main, along with the dimension information, I also pass the function that I want called when the video reaches the end. This is where I run into problems.....I can get that function to recognize where it came from or that it exist.

Work Around 2 is almost there, but I really need to ability to do something else in Lesson2_01 after the FLV ends in the Main. Any advise would be helpful. I may be overthinking this one.

Thanks in advance.

Flash Video Encoder Stops Encoding
Hello,

I've been using a lot of FVE lately. It was working perfectly since this morning, and I can't figure out what the problem is.

I use uncompressed AVI files and then convert them to flv, 700 Kb, On2 VP6 files (no audio). For some reason, the encoding porocess stops after a while, more or less always at the same frame. The thing is, the log from FVE doesn't report this error and FVE seems to consider everything went fine. When I open the resulting flv, it appears to be normally long, but the playback stops at the same moment the encoding did.

Has anyone a clue ? I would surely appreciate it...

Thanks in advance

Boris

Checking NetStream.time Stops My Video
I'm using the Flash 8 video object wiht an external On2 VP6 encoded video local to my hard drive and following the code examples in the Help files I can play the video fine, but I want to monitor the video and pause it at a certain timecode. The minute I start to check the netStream.time property the video stops! Is this a known bug?

My code below.

playVideo = function (aVideo) {
// Create a NetConnection object
var my_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
// Create a local streaming connection
my_nc.connect(null);
// Create a NetStream object and define an onStatus() function
var my_ns:NetStream = new NetStream(my_nc);
my_ns.onStatus = function(infoObject:Object):Void {
trace(infoObject.level)
trace(infoObject.code)
if (infoObject.code=="NetStream.Play.Stop"){
my_ns.close()
my_video.clear()
}
};
// Attach the NetStream video feed to the Video object
my_video.attachVideo(my_ns);
// Set the buffer time
my_ns.setBufferTime(2);
// Begin playing the FLV file
my_ns.play(aVideo);

var time_interval:Number = setInterval(checkTime, 1000);

function checkTime() {
var ns_seconds:Number = my_ns.time;
trace(ns_seconds)
}

Video Playback Class Stops Exporting
Hey all,

I'm using an instance of the FLVplayback class in my movie. Everything's been perfect up till now (to the exent that it's worked hundreds of times for me) but I have a situation where the object has just stopped working, and i've been nowhere near it (honest!).

It appears to export ok (the 45k-ish filesize payload is still on frame 2, where i put the 'export for actionscript' frame ) but the flv component suddenly refuses to work

Any ideas anyone?

The only solution i've been able to come up with is to create a new .fla file and to copy the few fames I have in my main timeline in there, bringing all the symbols with it. Not a pretty solution as I loose my nicely organised library.

Thanks!

Chris

I did play the original MOV in QuickTime and it ran all the way through fine.

I have tried in both Flash 8 and CS3 and at "high" and "medium" quality. Same thing.

What could be wrong? And what are my suggested alternatives?

Thanks.

FLV Audio Continues To Play

I also ran into the same problem when loading an SWF with embedded video.

FLVPlayback Audio Continues Even When Not On The Stage
put an flvplayback on frame 1 along with a button that will take you to frame 2.
put another flvplayback on frame 2.

when clicking the button on frame 1 the audio from the frame1 movie keeps playing even though you're on frame 2's movie

I tried SoundMixer.stopAll(); but that executes after the movie loads so it stops the movie after like 2 seconds.

Why is the sound continuing when the flvplayback is no longer on the screen anyway??

Video Player With Multiple Scenes
I'm making a flash video player and i choose the video i play with a thumbnail i turned into a button. This works, but i can only fit 6 buttons on the stage, so i decided to try using a second scene that is the same except for it has different flash videos the buttons link to. My problem is i don't know how to make flash/actionscript 3 to link to the second scene. I have a button set up but when i click it it still shows the old buttons. I was wondering if i need to clear the stage before the second scene is loaded? Or how do i do it properly?

Audio Continues After Popup Window Closed
I have a SWF file that is a shell and loads different SWF files into it. These loaded files have a looping background music. When the user advances in the presentatin (loads different SWF), I stopAllSounds and then initate the looping music again within the new loaded SWF.

The main SWF file plays inside an HTML popup window which is launched from a home page. When this popup window is closed, the audio continues to play. The only way to stop it is to shut down IE.

I don't see how this is even possible. Help please.

Audio And Video
Okay I have a video within a movie clip.
I have the created my own buttons ie. stop, play, forward & back
I was using AS3 but I switched back to AS2 and found the the
on (release) {
stopAllSounds();
}
stops the video as well as the audio.
My question is how do I start the audio and video.. ie. what's the code I need to use in order to get this to function appropriately .
Cheers-

Audio And Video
Greetings!

I have a movie that I attend to ad a background sound loop to with 'on' and 'off' buttons. In a apart of the movie loads an external swf with video in it and the sound loop has to stop. Well to this point I believe I can make it on my own BUT if the user has muted the sound loop before loading the video, how do I make the check if the sound loop was on or off before loading the video so it can after closing the video determine to start the loop again or not?

If there is a tutorial on this matter, it would be great 'cos I'm not so at home when it comes to actionscripting.

Audio Continues To Play After Stopped Testing Flash?
I have a Flash with music in it. When I hit Play, the music plays. But when the Flash is done, the music continues until it is done, even though the frames is not enough to complete the song.

So, why does it do this, and how do I stop it when testing? Right now, I have to wait for the entire song to finish, but I would rather not do that.

Thanks in advance!

Matching Audio With Video
ive made a couple of movies w/ Flash MX and i have noticed that in some of my movies that the video in the movie tends to slow down at points, and some events are matched up with the sound but they dont when the video slows down

ive noticed on movies not made by me the video matches right up with the backround movie

is there something im missing or are there too many objects moving at one time?

the thing is that im making a little movie in which i edited some music and now want to make 3 guys on stage playing this music, and at times there are insterment changes and i want to have one insterment fly out and another to come in, all in a joking matter, but if the video doesnt match up with the sound all my work will be ruined

is there anything i can do to stop this slowing down?

Sync Audio And Video?
I'm trying to improve the quality of spoken audio in a video i'm importing into the flash. all of the s sounds are coming off "lispy". Will it work for me to seperate the video and audio tracks and try to sync them up so the audio can be saved as a wav or mp3 and be higher quality?

Audio& Video Synchron?
Hi,
i am planning to make a pure vector-based movie in Flash, but in my .swf-file my music is not running synchron to my visuals. The audio is faster, and after having pushed the graphics to a place where it compensates the problem, i cannot ad any new frame without confusing everything again.
In fact i cannot work with the frequency, displayed inthe music-layer, because it has nothing to do with what is coming out in the end. If i choose a climax in the frequency and ad a rectangle there for example, i can be sure that it will appear later than my climax.
Anyway, i am quite sure it has got do with the complexity of my vector-objects. And in some way it maybe a CPU- problem( 2400+).Whatever... How can i manage this? Maybe by using Actionscript?
e.g. LOADMOVIE/ LOADSOUND?
Thanks for helping an "advanced newbie"!

Audio From Imported Video
I have imported an embedded video into my flash movie. When I play it in flash I cannot hear the audio(of the video). If I export the file to a swf I can hear the audio fine. Shouldn't I be able to hear the video's audio track in flash while I develop the flash movie? Any ideas why I can't? Thank you.

Video, Synchro, And Audio...HELP
First of all, sorry for my bad english but i am from argentina.

Now, the thing is that iīm trying to make a flash animation.
The idea is a video loop, that shows a blue sun shinning and spinning. The video is about 30 seconds, and it is in 800 x 342 resolution, because i want the animation to be seen in full screen.
With sorenson squeeze i reduce it to a .flv of 800k size.
So far, so good.

The next thing i want is an mp3 playing while the sun spin. It is a 4 megs mp3, that i publish in the swf at stereo 64kbps. That make with the video and sound, an swf of 3.8 mb.

Finally, i did subtitles for the mp3. I make them in a movie clip, and placed it in syncro in the time line with the audio, that is merged in the swf as streamed mp3.

Now...the problem.
I want a preload that go from 1 to 100 percent, and that load ONLY the video loop. I want that, when the video-loop-preload finish, it start the video, the subtitles, and the audio at the same time.

I donīt know how to make only preload the video.
And i donīt know how to make the subtitles be always in synchro.

Because if for some reason the bandwith of the visitor gets down, and the mp3 start to buffer, the subtitles continue! And, obviously, they get out of syncrho!

Please, help me!!

Federico

Exporting Swf With Video AND Audio
I've been trying to export a swf that contains a quicktime video that I imported and embedded but the sound keeps dropping out on the exported swf. I'm not getting that warning that says the audio can't be imported with the video so I'm assuming the issue is with the export. I don't want to bring in a seperate audio file because I'm worried that it won't stay on the same timeline.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?
