Warning: Attributes And Values For The EMBED Tag Vary By Plug-in
Hi All,
Newbie here and I am looking for some help from some of the more experianced flash experts. I am getting the "Warning: Attributes and values for the EMBED tag vary by plug-in" error for every page on my site and some of the users are reporting that they are unable to see content. I figure this is because 1.They havnt updated their flash player or 2. They havnt updated IE. Here are the errors I get when I run the check target browsers function on Dreamweaver. Seems to be the same issue/error throughout. Does anyone see what the problem is? Suggestions on how to fix it?

AS 2 Adding The Values Of Attributes?
I have an XML document with the following layout:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<allsales>
<sales name='nameone' amount='377352' color='0xCC0033' rookie='0'/>
<sales name='nametwo' amount='205521' color='0x663366' rookie='0'/>
<sales name='namethree' amount='205521' color='0x0033FF' rookie='0'/>
<sales name='namefour' amount='5521' color='0x663366' rookie='0'/>
<sales name='namefive' amount='20' color='0x663366' rookie='0'/>
</allsales>
If you'll notice, I have an attribute, "color", which actually represents one of 5 bars that will appear on a graph. I also have an attribute "amount", that needs to get added together. (all "amounts" from within each category)So what I'd like to do is pull this xml doc into flash, (Which I've already done. I can't modify the doc to better suit my purpose though since the data is being used elsewhere), create maybe an array(?) for each of the 5 'colors' attributes (3 shown here), and the values of 'amount' for each of the matching 'colors', then have a final tally output so I can have variables that will say, for example: color CC0033 = "Territory1" = 567567 total amount, color 663366 = "Territory 2" = 345987 total amount, etc....
Wow huh? Looks like I need to make several arrays and compare them or something? I'm pretty proficient in the basics of flash as, but arrays are unfortunately at this point beyond me. If I'm barking up the wrong tree and should do this a different way, please feel free to let me know.
Thanks,
-D

How To Access Embed Param Values In Flash?
allowNetworking and allowScriptAccess have a huge impact on my viral flash, and I want to be able to disable my flash from playing if "allowScriptAccess" is set to "never".
I cannot seem to find any tech notes on adobe, this site or google that indicates that it is possible to read what this attribute is set to in flash?
Is there any way to access this atttribute?
I checked _level/_global/_root and can't find it there.
I just want my flash to go to a page telling the person where they can view it where it works properly.
I am sure there are lots of other people who will benifit from an answer as well

How To Vary Position On Y Axis
I have been following a tutorial on creating a side scrolling driving game.
The actionscript, however, depends on a 'library.as' file which I think (but can't be sure), may contain a method to generate oil slicks and tyre obstructions randomly along the y axis. Unfortunateley I do not have this library file and besides I would rather code this part myself so as to understand it better. The action script is as follows.
**I have commented the action script below to show where my code seems to be broken.**
code:
listener = new Object();
listener.onKeyDown = function()
{
delete Car.onEnterFrame;
var yval = 0;
var xval = 0;
switch (Key.getCode())
{
case Key.DOWN: yval = 8;
Car.rotate(15,30); break;
case Key.UP: yval = -8;
Car.rotate(-15,30); break;
case Key.LEFT: xval = -8;
break;
case Key.RIGHT: xval = 8;
}
Car.onEnterFrame = function ()
{
this._y += yval;
this._x += xval;
}
};
listener.onKeyUp = function()
{
Car.rotate(0,30);
delete Car.onEnterFrame;
};
Key.addListener(listener);
interval = setInterval(Obstacles,1500);
_root.i = 200;
Car._depth = 400000
function obstacles()
{
duplicateMovieClip("obstacles.tires","tires"+_root .i,40000 -i);
var tire = eval("obstacles.tires"+_root.i);
tire._Y = Math.randomBetween (100,300); //<-------here's first problem
tire._rotationBetween(0,360);
tire.Move(-1000,tire._Y,250);
duplicateMovieClip("obstacles.oil","oil"+_root.i,i );
var oilslick = eval("obstacles.oil"+_root.i);
oilslick._Y = Math.randomBetween(100,300); //<------here's second problem
oilslick._rotation = Math.randomBetween(0,360); //<------here's third problem
oilslick.Move(-1000,oilslick._y, 250);
tire.onEnterFrame = oilslick.onEnterFrame = function()
{
if (this.hitTest(Car))
delete this.onEnterFrame;
this.removeFlicker(10);
_root.collisions ++;
}
}
tire.onComplete = oilslick. onComplete = function()
{
this.removeMovieClip();
}
_root.i++;
The output tells me that there is no method with the name 'randomBetween'. If anyone could tell me how I might edit my code so that it functions it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Flash Slider To Vary Opacity
hello.
I am somewhat of a newbie to flash, and to this site.
I am building a slider which varies the opacity of a photograph, to reveal a photograph underneath. The concept is that the top photo (the photo with the opacity being driven by the slider) can be 'crossfaded' or mixed with the photo underneath.
What I did: created a new scene, created two layers, added pictures to them, and converted them to Movie Clips. (modify/convert to symbol)
I then built the slider out of a line and a box in seperate layers. The moving layer (the box) is a movie clip as well. 'Desat' is the name of the layer and Movie Clip to be affected by the slider. 'Scroll' is the name of the layer and Movie Clip for the box, which will be the slider. The slider moves left-to-right (full-right should be full opacity of the Desat layer). I built a layer called 'Actions' which holds the action script.
Here is my screenshot;
http://img802.mytextgraphics.com/pho...-4bd8mktid.gif
I found a similar-ish tutorial which builds a slider here; http://www.entheosweb.com/Flash/vide...m_scroller.asp
which instead uses Actionscript to move text.
I then tried to adapt the Actionscript from the tutorial to vary opacity;
___________________________________________
var scrollUpper:Number = 524;
var scrollLower:Number = 460;
var opacityUpper:Number = 100
var opacityLower:Number = 0;
var scrollRange:Number = scrollLower - scrollUpper;
var opacityRange:Number = opacityLower - opacityUpper;
function scroll() {
var moved:Number = scroll_mc._x - scrollUpper;
var pctMoved:Number = moved/scrollRange;
var opacity:Number = pctMoved*opacityRange;
desat_mc._alpha = opacityLower - opacity;
}
scroll_mc.onPress = function() {
this.startDrag(scrollLower,false,this._y,scrollUpp er,false,this._y);
this.onMouseMove = scroll;
}
scroll_mc.onRelease = scroll_mc.onReleaseOutside = function() {
this.stopDrag();
this.onMouseMove = null;
}
__________________________________________________ __________
I tried a test, and I get;
Scene 1, Layer, Frame 1, Line 11 1120: Access of undefined property scroll_mc.var moved:Number = scroll_mc._x - scrollUpper;
Scene 1, Layer, Frame 1, Line 14 1120: Access of undefined property desat_mc. desat_mc._alpha = opacityLower - opacity;
Scene 1, Layer, Frame 1, Line 17 1120: Access of undefined property scroll_mc.scroll_mc.onPress = function() {
Scene 1, Layer, Frame 1, Line 23 1120: Access of undefined property scroll_mc.scroll_mc.onRelease = scroll_mc.onReleaseOutside = function() {
Scene 1, Layer, Frame 1, Line 23 1120: Access of undefined property scroll_mc.scroll_mc.onRelease = scroll_mc.onReleaseOutside = function() {
(yes, the last error is listed twice in the error log).
What is needed to drive this slider system ?
Thanks !

Vary Number Of Params Sent By LocalConnection?
hello all,
is there a way to dynamically set the parameters to send with LocalConnection.send()?
I've got a php file loading different parameters with different results into a small SWF that then needs to send them with LocalConnection.
e.g. localConnectSender.swf?var1=foo&var2=bar
what i'm wondering is how to have AS fill in the [, p1,...,pN] part as below. i'm using a for...in loop in the SWF to get the params that PHP has sent it on the url.
ActionScript Code:
sending_lc.send ("myConnection", "myMethod" [, p1,...,pN])
thanks!

How To Dynamically Vary The Size Of Scrolling Area
Hi,
I would like to vary the size of the scrolling Area at runtime.
A movieclip contains a form. The form consists of a variable number of buttons. The movieclip shall be scrollable - but only if possible.
When I do the "classic" scrolling, I have to define a fixed size of the movieClip and a mask. But then the user is able to scroll even when there is no content in the scrollable area.
Any ideas how to solve this?
Thanks

Horizontal XML Menu - Vary Item Width Help
Howdy everybody.
I was workin away on this file and wanted to display the main menu items horizontally using the XML menu. I got it to work but wanted to take it a step further and display the main menu items according to a variable width based on the character length from the xml file. I managed to get an idea (I think) of how this might be done but I think i need a little help finishing it up. Here is the AS for the menu:
ActionScript Code:
// generates a list of menu items (effectively one menu)// given the inputted parameters. This makes the main menu// as well as any of the submenus GenerateMenu = function(container, name, x, y, depth, node_xml) {// variable declarations var curr_node;var curr_item;var curr_menu = container.createEmptyMovieClip(name, depth);// for all items or XML nodes (items and menus)// within this node_xml passed for this menufor (var i=0; i<node_xml.childNodes.length; i++) {// movieclip for each menu itemcurr_item = curr_menu.attachMovie("menuitem","item"+i+"_mc", i); if (name == "mainmenu_mc") {//curr_item.name._width = i+(curr_item.name.text.length+50);curr_item._x = x + i*(curr_item._width+1);curr_item._y = y;} else {curr_item._x = x; }curr_item.trackAsMenu = true; // item properties assigned from XMLcurr_node = node_xml.childNodes[i];curr_item.action = curr_node.attributes.action;curr_item.variables = curr_node.attributes.variables;curr_item.name.text = curr_node.attributes.name; // item submenu behavior for rollover eventif (node_xml.childNodes[i].nodeName == "menu"){// open a submenucurr_item.node_xml = curr_node;curr_item.onRollOver = curr_item.onDragOver = function(){var x = this._x ;var y = this._y + this._height+2;GenerateMenu(curr_menu, "submenu_mc", x, y, 1110, this.node_xml); };}else{ // nodeName == "item"//curr_item.arrow._visible = false;// close existing submenucurr_item.onRollOver = curr_item.onDragOver = function(){curr_menu.submenu_mc.removeMovieClip(); };} curr_item.onRollOut = curr_item.onDragOut = function(){ }; // any item, menu opening or not can have actionscurr_item.onRelease = function(){Actions[this.action](this.variables); CloseSubmenus(); };} // end for loop};// create the main menu, this will be constantly visibleCreateMainMenu = function(x, y, depth, menu_xml){// generate a menu listGenerateMenu(this, "mainmenu_mc", x, y, depth, menu_xml.firstChild); // close only submenus if visible durring a mouseup// this main menu (mainmenu_mc) will remainmainmenu_mc.onMouseUp = function(){if (mainmenu_mc.submenu_mc && !mainmenu_mc.hitTest(_root._xmouse, _root._ymouse, true)){CloseSubmenus();}};}; // closes all submenus by removing the submenu_mc// in the main menu (if it exists)CloseSubmenus = function(){mainmenu_mc.submenu_mc.removeMovieClip();};// This actions object handles methods for actions// defined by the XML called when a menu item is pressedActions = Object();Actions.loadExternal = function(externalswf){container.loadMovie(externalswf);};Actions.gotoURL = function(urlVar){getURL(urlVar, "_blank");};Actions.message = function(msg){message_txt.text = msg;};Actions.newMenu = function(menuxml){menu_xml.load(menuxml); };// load XML, when done, run CreateMainMenu to interpret itmenu_xml = new XML();menu_xml.ignoreWhite = true;menu_xml.onLoad = function(ok){// create main menu after successful loading of XMLif (ok){CreateMainMenu(88, 353, 0, this);unloadMovie("container");}else{message_txt.text = "error: XML not successfully loaded";}};// load first XML menumenu_xml.load("menu1.xml");
The notable part here maybe this commented piece which is my "idea" as to how to get this to work (see commented line)
ActionScript Code:
if (name == "mainmenu_mc") {//curr_item.name._width = i+(curr_item.name.text.length+50);curr_item._x = x + i*(curr_item._width+1);curr_item._y = y;} else {curr_item._x = x; }
If anyone needs anymore explanation as to what I am trying to achieve just let me know.
Thanks for taking up this challenge.

LoadClip For Multiple Swfs Into Level Or MC: Results Vary.
Using the movie clip loader class, creating an empty movie clip(example_mc), then loading swfs using loadClip, like this:
Code:
function adMovie() {
myMCL.loadClip("ad.swf", example_mc);
}
adMovie();
Then using similar code, on button release loads rz.swf. Problem is, I can still see ad.swf behind rz.swf. This doesn't happen if I load into a level (number) instead of a target (example_mc).
Code:
function rzMovie() {
myMCL.loadClip("rz.swf", example_mc);
}
this.btn2_btn.onRelease = function() {
rzMovie();
}
Anyone know how to make the other clip not show up? Do I have to unload it? There will be a dozen like this. I thought if you loaded a movie into a target, the new one would replace the old one, not sit on top of it. I am under the impression that it's better to use targets than levels, but as usual I could be wrong.
Thanks for any help on this-- I've spent a couple hours searching,
Rochelle

Function Populated By Node Values Returning Undefined Values
I have been working on some code which extracts the information from an xml document, styles it with css and then loads the various node values into a text field and arrays. The user click on a link in the text field which calls myFunction using asfunction and that in turn should enter the array values relating to that link into text fields.
Everything in general seems to work OK except the value that is returned to the two text fields on pressing the link in the CCTextField "which in turn calls myFunction" returns undefined for those values of the arrays. I check the agency[2] value in the function that populates the arrays and the value is returned as it shoiuld be so it appears there must be something amiss with myFunction, or at least it would seem so.
Any takers as to what this problem might be?
I have supplied some shortened code below.
PHP Code:
CCTextField.styleSheet = myStyle;
// NOTE: CCTextField styleSheet has been created beforehand
my_xml = new XML();
// NOTE: my_xml has been created beforehand
my_xml.onLoad = function(sucess) {
if (sucess) {
processXML(my_xml);
}
};
// Load up the XML file into Flash
my_xml.load('TEST.xml');
// This is the function that will be called when
// the XML document is loaded succesfully
function processXML(xmlDoc_xml) {
var listText_comm = ""; // List text variable
var entryNum = 0; // Entry number variable
var agency = new Array(); // Agency array
var production = new Array(); // Production array
for (var n = 0; n<xmlDoc_xml.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes.length; n++) {
categoryNodeName = xmlDoc_xml.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes[n].nodeName;
if (categoryNodeName == "client") {
listText_comm += "<a href='asfunction:_root.myFunction," + entryNum + "'>" + xmlDoc_xml.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes[n];
trace("client " + xmlDoc_xml.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes[n]);
} else {
if (categoryNodeName == "title") {
listText_comm += " - " + xmlDoc_xml.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes[n] + "</a>";
trace("title " +xmlDoc_xml.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes[n]);
} else {
if (categoryNodeName == "agency") {
agency[entryNum] = xmlDoc_xml.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes[n].firstChild.nodeValue;
trace("agency " +xmlDoc_xml.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes[n].firstChild.nodeValue);
} else {
if (categoryNodeName == "production") {
agency[entryNum] = xmlDoc_xml.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes[n].firstChild.nodeValue;
trace("production " +xmlDoc_xml.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes[n].firstChild.nodeValue);
entryNum++; // click over the entry number by 1
}
}
}
}
}
trace("AGENCY 2 = " + agency[2]); // this returns agency number 2 OK
_root.CCTextField.text = listText_comm; // CCTextField shows this text OK
}
function myFunction(listItem) {
clientF = agency[listItem]; // THIS RETURNS undefined ON PRESSING THE LINKS IN CCTextField
productionF = production[listItem]; // THIS ALSO RETURNS undefined ON PRESSING THE LINKS IN CCTextField
trace(listItem); // this trace = the list item passed by asfunction OK

[MX] Weirdness With Values Used By Array Populated Clip Values.
Hi,
I have used invisible buttons on top of some text, as part of a volume control interface.
The text buttons are set out as 0 – 25 – 50- 75 -100 referring to the % that a music tracks volume will change to once a button is pressed – so far so good.
Now to give values to the text buttons in order for them to make the text clip that they are on top of go to & stop & the right frame I have used arrays to give a reference the location of the text clip:
numbs_array = [_root.volHold_mc.vol0, _root.volHold_mc.vol25, _root.volHold_mc.vol50, _root.volHold_mc.vol75, _root.volHold_mc.vol100];
I then reference that in a home made “release” function as “this.monica.gotoAndStop(2);” “monica” being the reference to the address of the clip.
It all works fine except the code seems to make the movie play clips in an order that they have not been designated in the array – Like a button on top of the “25”% value will play the animation for the “75”% clip?
The whole problem is probably much better seen through the movie – the problem section of which i have attached below.

Database Values To Array Values
Hi all,
I've created a movie which uses a number of arrays to construct the elements of a flash-based gallery.
What I need is a practical method of getting values from a database into an array via an ASP page.
The plan was to load the variables into these arrays using the an asp page and a loadvars object to create a string (basically the array values in quotes separated by commas) which was then to be inserted into the parameters for the creation of the array. Needless to say this hasn't worked- the create array object seems to interpret the whole string as the first value in the array, i can't find a way of populating the array from just a single asp page.
I've given up with this method and really need a few pointers.
Thanks

"Every time a page loads it leaves a blank placeholder for the flash movies and a tiny "security warning" bar appears at the top of the page, saying the page contains "Active content". This appears to be un-turn-offable."
So fine, yet another headache. I track down the pdf from adobe about flash player security updates. And I'm reading through it but have no idea what I need to do, what code will do this and where the code needs to go to get this warning to stop. Anyone dealt with this and can give a quick tutorial about it. Frustrating because I can't even mess around with this stuff and test it on IE6.
I'm on OSX and tested it on Safari, Firefox, IE5 with no problems.
And as we all know Microsoft dumped IE for mac so I can't check myself.
Thanks All!
For reference here's some of the "highlights" from the adobe PDF:
Code:
API Names Description
Permit SWF files from a specified sandbox to read (or cross-script) the
calling SWF file. The allowInsecureDomain() API also permits access
to HTTPS SWF files by non-HTTPS SWF files.
Note: For Flash Player 7 and earlier, these methods permitted access to all
SWF files in the sandbox of the calling SWF file. Starting with Flash
Player 8, these methods permit access only to the calling SWF file itself.
System.security.
allowDomain()
System.security.allowInsecureDomain()
Informs Flash Player of the location of a policy file in a nondefault location,
or the location of an XMLSocket policy file.
System.security.loadPolicyFile()
System.exactSettings Determines whether exact or old-style superdomain rules are used to determine the scope of shared objects and privacy settings.
Data Loading Controls
LocalFileReadDisable=[0, 1]
(0=false, 1=true)
Setting this option to 1 disables all local content execution.
If this is set to 1, Flash Player cannot read any files referenced by a path (including the first SWF file that Flash Player opens) on the user’s hard disk. Specifically, the ActionScript XML.load(), loadVariables(),
loadMovie(), and getURL() methods, and anything else that maps to a target on the local drive, is blocked. Reading runtime-shared libraries is also blocked if this flag is set. Reading local shared objects is allowed, although only if the administrative user has not revoked the permission to write them.
FileDownloadDisable=[0, 1]
(0 = false, 1 = true)
If this is set to 1, the ActionScript FileReference.download() method is disabled; the user is not prompted to allow a download, and no downloads using the FileReference API are allowed. If this is set to 0,
Flash Player allows the ActionScript FileReference.download() method to ask the user where a file can be downloaded to, and then Flash Player downloads the file after the user approves the file save location.
FileUploadDisable=[0, 1]
(0 = false, 1 = true)
If this is set to 1, all FileReference.upload(), FileReference.browse(), and
FileReferenceList.browse() activity is disabled; the user is not prompted to upload files, and no uploads using the FileReference API are allowed. If this is set to 0, Flash Player allows files to be uploaded using the FileReference API. The user is prompted to select a file to upload and to approve the selection.
LocalStorageLimit=[0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
(0 = false, 1 = 0K, 2 = 10K, 3 = 100K, 4 = 1 MB, 5 = 10 MB, 6 = unlimited)
If this has a value other than 0, that value indicates a hard limit on the amount of local storage that Flash Player uses. The Settings dialog box is not able to specify more storage than this limit, but it is able to specify
less. If it does specify less, that setting is honored. If the value is 0, the Settings dialog box is honored.

Warning
Does anyone know how to get rid of this? Or does it matter? I keep getting it every time I control/enter to preview my work. I have three different folders for three different pages and each page uses a UIS scrollbar - so theres one in each folder. I tried renaming them, it doesnt work. I also tried deleting two of them and using the same scrollbar on each one. That didnt work either. The preview looks find to me, so I don't even know if this warning matters at all. But here it is, if anyone knows, please reply! Thanks!

Plug-in Vs. Swf
created a simple little animation. several frames. stop action in every one. a little movie leading to a button in each one that takes you upon release to the next frame. all very simple. working GREAT on my mac, and in the browser.
then i go to the pc to test and it is consistently skipping the first frame. shows up on the second frame. what happened to the stop action in frame 1? weirder still. if you open the .swf on the pc it is fine and doesn't skip the first frame.
i tested it on a different pc, thinking it was a bogus plug-in on mine...still does it.
what could this be? i thought stop meant...STOP!
help! i have to produce 300 CDs!

Plug-ins And 3D?
My boss reckons that you can get a 'plug-in' for flash MX that enables you to design 3D environments (and he wants me to find out about it).
As far as I know Flash doesn't have plug-in expandability... and the only 3D software I know that does 3D for Flash is Swift 3D.
Can anyone tell me whether I'm right on not?
Thanks

Receiving Warning
I downloaded the trial of version 2 and got right into putting some cool stuff together.
Then I started getting this message box that says:
Your system resources are very low.
it goes on to say something about saving my work and then shutting down other applications.
What exactly does this error mean? and will following the warning fix it completely?
thanx

Warning Window
OK...Last one and then I'll be done!
I've got a stand-alone ecard flash presentation for the company. In it, there is a portfolio of web sites we've created. Music plays in the background while the portfolio is displayed.
What I want to do is to have a user be able to click on the web site name to open up a browser to see the site being presented in the portfolio. Because the music is playing though, I figure it is best for the flash presentation to shut down if a user goes to the web site.
To do this, I'd like a warning dialog box to pop-up that says: "Do you wish to close the presentation and go to this web site?" The user would be presented with "Yes" and "Cancel"
If the user clicks yes, an fscommand quits the application and launches the browser, if the user clicks cancel, they stay where they are.
Anybody know how to accomplish this?

New Streaming Bug -- Warning For E
The problem is that about 10% of the time when a movie is loaded and your audio is streaming, the audio begins and will continue to stutter. If you stream your sound, you *will* encounter this bug, regardless of the size or content of your SWF. The framerate will drop to half and the player will eventually slow down and then no audio will be heard -- you have to restart the program.
If you haven't seen the bug, you haven't been testing enough -- try a Windows 2000/XP machine and burn your content onto CD to reproduce it quickly. It also happens from your hard drive or even right from the web so it will happen to everyone.
You definitely don't want your clients to see this -- once you get it, you're toast.
If you know a way around this bug, please post it so everyone can see.
Thanks.

Delete Warning - How To Get Rid Of?
I recently had a problem that someone here advised me was likely due to a bad install of MF - so I reinstalled. Did nothing - I eventually fixed the problem on my own. MF was and continues to be fine - had nothing to do with previous problem. Except now that I've reinstalled - when I delete items from the library, I get a delete warning that only used to happen if I deleted a whole bunch at once - now it pops up for even one item being deleted.
Is there any way to turn this off???

Not Saved Warning
Basically when somebody tries to close there browser window but the information on the page is not saved i need the user to be notified and ask them if they are sure they want to close without saving and the 'Yes' or 'No' buttons.
Ive seen this done on a couple of sites so i know its possible but my searches for tutorials have turned up nothing.
The other thing that makes this a problem is the information is in a swf.
If somebody could just point me in the right direction or give me any type of information that would be really helpful. Even how to do it in just Java.
Thanks

Linkage Warning
Hi,
I was hoping someone could help. I've built a flash file, but when it runs I get the following error
**Warning** The linkage identifier 'ButtonRadial' was already assigned to the symbol 'ButtonRadial', and cannot be assigned to the symbol 'ButtonRadial', since linkage identifiers must be unique.
What's going wrong? I realise that you cannot have two linkage names that are the same, but the message seems to say that the problem is that the same object has two linkage names (which are the same).
Confused...
Cheers

Warning 1082?
Hi, I'm getting a warning when compiling. This is the message:
Warning: 1082: Migration issue: Method frame1 will behave differently in ActionScript 3.0 due to the change in scoping for the this keyword. See the entry for warning 1083 for additional information.
I don't recall doing much, just creating a new project, going to File->Import->Import Video, importing an flv, choosing a skin, and then publishing...
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Active X Warning
I'm using some java script to write to a local file fscommanded from a flash movie. This will be used on a company network not connected to the internet so there are no security issues (that i have to bother about anyway).
Once you've run it once and authorised the script with the virus checker thats not a problem. However it gives me a warning "An ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe to interact with other parts of the page. Do you want to allow this interaction?".
From what i've read low security settings on the security tab in ie should mean this message doesn't appear. However I still get it. Any one know how to sort this? (or a site more geared to answering this kind of problem?)

Warning Page
Hi there,
As a totaly new user of Flash I would like to ask a question.
I am working on a projector containing a main menu with two buttons. Connected to these two buttons are two videofilms.
When one of the buttons is pushed and the video is loaded I would like to see a page, in thise case a jpg. file which askes the viewer for some patience.
After reading some books I found a progressbarr component but that is far to complicated for me at the moment.
Can anyone tell me if this page, asking for some time is easier to make than a progressbarr, and how it is made?
Thanks in advance

WARNING 1090:

this.onEnterFrame = function() {
var today:Date = new Date();
var currentYear = today.getFullYear();
var currentTime = today.getTime();
var targetDate:Date = new Date(currentYear,8,18);
var targetTime = targetDate.getTime();
var timeLeft = targetTime - currentTime;
var sec = Math.floor(timeLeft/1000);
var min = Math.floor(sec/60);
var hrs = Math.floor(min/60);
var days = Math.floor(hrs/24);
sec = String(sec % 60);
if (sec.length < 2) {
sec = "0" + sec;
}
min = String(min % 60);
if (min.length < 2) {
min = "0" + min;
}
hrs = String(hrs % 24);
if (hrs.length < 2) {
hrs = "0" + hrs;
}
days = String(days);
var counter:String = days + ":" + hrs + ":" + min + ":" + sec;
time_txt.text = counter;
}
I am receiving this error I have not been able to correct...
ERROR
Warning: 1090: Migration issue: The onEnterFrame is not triggered automatically by Flash Player at run time in ActionScript 3.0. You must first register this handler for the event using addEventListener ( 'enterFrame', callback_handler).
Can anyone supply a quick fix and/or explanation... I am still learning flash, have tried to research online, but am still ahving issues solving this problem...

Warning 1090 ?
I'm having the following warning, I'm not really sure if it has any bad effect on my animations or if it matters but it would be really nice if I could fix it somehow:
Warning: 1090: Migration issue: The onEnterFrame is not triggered automatically by Flash Player at run time in ActionScript 3.0. You must first register this handler for the event using addEventListener ( 'enterFrame', callback_handler).
Could someone explain why am I getting that warning ?
If this helps, I'm just playing around in AS 3.0, here's the code ( a class ):
ActionScript Code:
package { import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.events.Event; public class FirstAnimation extends Sprite { private var ball:Sprite; public function FirstAnimation() { init(); } private function init():void { ball = new Sprite; addChild(ball); ball.graphics.beginFill(0xFF0000); ball.graphics.drawCircle(0, 0, 40); ball.graphics.endFill(); ball.x = 20; ball.y = stage.stageHeight / 2; ball.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, onEnterFrame); } private function onEnterFrame(event:Event):void { ball.x++; } }}
Thanks.

Getting Warning Using XMLList.contains()
Hello good people!
I'm having a problem using the XMLList.contains() method. It seems to run like it should, but I keep getting these annoying warnings in the output window:
Warning: 3594: contains is not a recognized method of the dynamic class XMLList.
I'm adding an item from xmllist1 to xmllist2 if its value is as required and if it isn't already present in xmllist2. Here's the code:
Code:
xmllist2 += xmllist1.((value >= required) && (xmllist2.contains(@ID) == false)).@ID;
Does anyone have experience with this warning, or hints on how to get rid of it?
Appreciate it!
