Web Detecting Flash
Hi, I have a web in php with some objects in flash. However There are computers that dont detect flash, and all that you can see is the white background and "the movie didnt load".
I've been trying to solve this and here it is the code that I use:

if there is no plugin detected i want an image to replace the swf file. ive tried the <script> code that Flash created from the 'publish' option, to no avail. help? anyone? bueller?

I followed a tutorial on detecting flash 5 on this website...
Well, when I test my movie, the only scene that shows is the flash detector scene that I put above my main scene. And that's it... I need to be able to detect flash 5 and also be able to skip that frame (that gives me the get url button that I created) if flash was detected.

Can any body plz tell me that how can i detect flash 6 from brower. when a flash site loads, i should detect that the computer has flash 6 or not, if not then it should give a message in pop up window that "u don't have flash 6 installed" press ok to install the flash 6 player.

Wanted to know if there is an easy way to detect Flash 6 with out using javascript. The tutorials have a way but it does not seem to work.
Also I am developing stuff in flash 6 but a few people that are helping me can't seem to download the flash 6 player to their machines. we have tried almost everything, rebooting, reinstalling. Nothing works...please help

If someone doesn't have the right Flash plug in, that screen comes up that says, you don't have the Flash plug in, please go to Macromedia to download it, etc.
How do I get that auto detect about the plug in and then that screen?
Sorry if this isn't clear! I'm not really sure how to explain it.

Does anyone know what the HTML code is to detect whether or not the user has flash? So that if the user does have flash then the flash website is displayed, but if the user doesn't have flash, then the HTML website is displayed.

Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial that shows how to set your site up for detecting flash plugins? Ive already published my site but have been advised that not everyone will have the right player needed for viewing. I'ld like my site to detect for a player and then give you the option to download it if that person hasn't got it. Do I have to create seperate html pages to do this or is it all incorporated in the main index html page?
Please can someone help me and point me in the right direction.

Is it possible to make a site detect if the browser is using flash or not, and make it enter the best of them? Like, if a computer uses flash it enters the flash site (Without having the user to click "flash site") and if it does not use flash, enter the html based site?

Is there a way to detect flash player only with JavaScript? I'm looking for some script that detects if a user has Flash Player 7, if not it opens a window with the macromedia site so that they can download it!
Also, does any one know if its legal to put the flash player on my own site or intranet so that users can download it from that location instead of off the web?

The Flash Encoder that comes with Flash 8 Pro generates HTML that includes Flash detection. Part of that script is a VBScript function that is used when the browser is Internet Explorer. It works fine in IE 6, but in IE 7, this call fails even when Flash Player 9 is installed:
set swControl = CreateObject("ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash." + CStr(i))
and function VBGetSwfVer always returns 0, so the Flash version cannot be determined.

basically what i need to know is, is there a way that if i create a flash publication to be distributed via CD i can add a file which will auto detect their pc comapatability, and then refer them to this site to update their machine.
But if updates aren't needed it will bypass this and autorun the intended .exe?

Hi,
would like to know is there a way where i can check, when user enter my site ... it would check whether is flash installed, if not installed will prompt the user to install it, then display my flash animation. But if user click NO, then it will display my animated GIF file. I would wan all this to be done in a single html page only. Which mean i do not wan to have a flash.htm and non-flash.htm.
Can this be done?

I'm working on a dot-mil server and, much to my chagrin, I've learned that some of our users' IM departments refuse to allow the installation of the Flash plugin on their browsers (an unexplained security rule).
I've incorporated some Flash into the site, and for those who can get to it, I'd like to leave it. For those who aren't allowed the plug-in, I'll need a workaround.
Is there a piece of javascript out there that can detect flash on a page and redirect? Any help is apprciated.

I need to be able to detect if flash is installed on a visitors machine. If flash is installed then direct them to the flash page. If flash in NOT installed then direct them to the NON-flash page.
Any ideas?

I wish to detect if a user has a flash 5 plugin installed on their machine PRIOR to loading a flash site. I've been looking about and can't seem to find what I'm after.
I've tried writing javascript that may do this but haven't succeeded and the bumer thing is, there's too much stuff on the net but not what I'm looking for.
Can someone suggest the best method to detect flash within a multiplatform OS environment or just a windows environment?
Second to this, does anyone know where I can download the flash 5 player alone without installing direct off Macromedia?

Hello, seem to have a problem with browsers detecting the flash 6 player, have used a sniffer tag which should take users to a non flash html page if they do not have flash 6 player, this
isn't working as users might have flash 5 player and my movie is still trying to open in the flash 5 player. Can I add some code to my movie so that it only opens if it detects the flash 6
player??

I'm putting together a site that requires Flash player 6, since it uses some of the new component features. I'm also putting together substitue images that I want to load if the 6 Player isn't detected-much like Macromedia site. I have tried the detect flash 6 html template included with MX, but for some reason I cannot get the substitute images to load on any browsers that don't have the 6 player installed.
When I publish my project with the detect player 6 html option, I get an error saying that I haven't set all the values, and I don't see a way to do this in Flash. I normally open the html file that i write in Dreamweaver, and switch the link to my desired image's file name & path. The page loads fine on broweser witht he Flash 6 player, its just not flash players that have an issue. I'm assuming that they're somehting wrong in the Javascript in the head of the page. Am I doing this correctly? Has anyone used this feature successfully, because any tips or suggestions could really help me out

Is it really nessessary to do that, even if we choose the 'detect for Flash player 6' in the publish properties menu? Basically, i will be preparing an animation to run from the cd rom which in the inside pages will call pdf files. Now how do i detect weather the user has acrobat or not.?
If the user has acrobat on his M/c and If it is detected, continue with normal Animations. else load the proggy that is available on the same cd rom where the intro is running from.
Tell me is this possible???? If yes, HOW????!!!??!?!?!!?!?

Detecting Flash 5 - I've Fallen And I Can't Get Up
I need to set up a detect for flash 5.
Went to this tutorial:

and it all looks so simple.
on frame 1 of your movie put:
with (_root) {
gotoAndPlay (3);}
Frame 2 put in a stop command and message saying they need the latest plugin, or redirect them to a different page.
Frame 3 Continue with your movie.
For some reason - this thing just plays to frame 2 and stops - I have the Flash6 player - so it should function.
Another detection method I tried which works on the readability of _root by flash 5 doesn't work either:

Hi, is it possible for flash to read the parameters in a url ?, by this i mean
you have a page

flashdemo.html page displays your flash movie... How would you get these
parameters into the flash movie ?
I know all about reading in a text file using loadvariables, but i would prefer

I had to format my machine machine recently and well I forgot to backup my flash detector. I had a really good one which i downloaded from the macromedia site, so of course i went back to download it again and now it ain't there.
Basically you could set which version was needed of flash and the detector would find out if the user has this version or an older one. You then set a detected page (usually where your site is), and a no flash page, which is where u send the user if they don't have flash or the version that is needed.
anyone know where i can get a detector like this again???
