Make This Move Quicker?
Hi All,
Need some help on something that sounds simple but is proving far from simple!!
I found a .fla file on ultrashock for a simple "walking bot" shoot em up type of game - the little tank/ship follows the mouse and fires on the mouse click. It is all working and just what I needed for my movie...
...but for the life of me I can not make the tank move faster when the cursor moves further away it just carries on at a set speed.
The tank can also be controlled by arrow keys which may be the reason for the slowness of the ship but even so surely there is a way to make the ship move faster than it does?
The AS is in a seperate file to the actual movie and I am attaching it at the end of this thread...
as I say it sounds simple but can 'I' work it out????

How To Make A Counter By Sothink SWF Quicker?

Here, I will make this visit counter by Sothink SWF Quicker. Sothink SWF Quicker is a Flash editor to make Flash-based applications for website. It can create Flash games, Flash videos, interactive animations, text effects, slide shows, etc. By following the steps, you will get the counter like this:
Prepared Work and the Softwares Have Been Used:
Make sure your web site server has PHP installed
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3
Get the wonderful images, and use them to beatify your counter
Install Sothink SWF Quicker (See its interface)
Steps:
Make Background Image
Launch Sothink SWF Quicker and you will see the above screenshot. Click the canvas, and then set the canvas size in the "Properties" panel.
Import an image (Get the 1.jpg from zip file). Right click the empty area in the "Library" panel, and choose the option "Import…" from the context-menu.
Drag this image to the canvas, and adjust its position, size, etc in the "Transform" panel. You will see the frame 1 changes into keyframe from blank keyframe in layer 1.
Copy the image, and paste it into the canvas. Choose this image, and set its properties in the "Transform" panel.
Make sure the background image always showing. We insert the keyframe in the frame 40.
Add Text and Write ActionScript for Them
Add a new layer by clicking the button (see figure), and then add text on it.
Choose the tool "Text" in the "Tools" panel. And drag a rectangle on the canvas, input the text "Count" in it. You can set the text properties in the below "Properties" panel.
Still choose the tool "Text" in the "Tools" panel. And drag another rectangle on the canvas, enter the "Properties" panel, set Type as "Dynamic" and Var as "count". You will see the frame 1 changes into keyframe from blank keyframe in layer 2.
Select the frame 2, and right-click to choose "Convert to Keyframe" from context-menu.
Select the frame 40, and right-click to choose "Insert Keyframe" from context-menu.
The timeline will display like this:
Choose the frame 1 in the layer 2, and enter the "Action" panel, input the below ActionScript:

Make an HTML Page
Open your Dreamweaver, and create a PHP page named as "c.html".
In the "Design" view, click "Insert > Media > Flash" to insert the “count.swf” into the page.
After inserting the Flash, the result will be like this:
At last, upload all the files include count.swf, count.php, and c.html to the server, which PHP is installed on it (make sure these files are saved in one folder), to test if the counter works well.

Smoother Loading Site.
Hey Guys.
How is everyone? I'm looking for some advice, and tips to make a site up working on run better. The site is for a friends band, the site on it's own is around 2-3 meg, not to bad for loading. But I have also built a 3 track music player, which knocks the file size right up. I think the best way to load the site, would be to have the site load, then after start loading the music player, so users can view the site without having to wait for the music. I got the idea, I just need to the know how, on how to get flash to do it. Any tips or advice anyone can give me, will be ace.

I just want to say that I know that the site isn't much to look at right now, basically put something up just to convey info for the time being untill I learn this program better. I wanted some opinions on how I could get the "transit" I have on the page to be smoother. Didn't know if there was a way that I could motion/shape tween a graphic symbol like this or not.

How To Make Text Scroll Smoother
Can anyone help me make my dynamic text box scroll smoother? My Flash document is set at 30fps and I use the 'onEnterFrame' method so surely the text should scroll smoothly?!

How Do I Make My Flash Site Load Faster? Help Please
this is my site www.musicdisplays.com its all done in flash, some pages take too long to load. i lowered the jpeg quality in flash8 to 10 instead of 80 on the settings and in dreamweaver i set the quality of the flash file to Auto Low. what else am i doing wrong?

I would like to break this up into three or more separate movies (swf.) so it loads fast and runs smoother. How do I do this and link it properly?

How Much Quicker Is AS3.0?
I'm just wondering what are the performance benefits with AS3.0 - are the performance benefits in rendering simply down to the Flash Player you are using or do any performace benefits come from the compiled code? I'm currently developing a game which is using AS2.0 which runs in Flash Player 9 and I find that I get some slowdown when there are around 15 objects on my screen. These objects are comprised of a movieclip with maybe two to three more movieclips which are 'attached' to the main object via some update code which calls every frame. I find when there are a good few of these the game starts to suffer - though I am running on quite an old athlon XP 2500+
I'm also concerned that I've extended the MovieClip object in my class but I've also included a variable in the derived class which is of type MovieClip which I attach my movieclip to - does anyone know if this would make a big impact on performance (i.e. a MovieClip object gets instantiated but no clip is attached to it..)
I have noticed that the game runs well when the quality setting is set to low, which would suggest to me that it's mostly a rendering speed issue rather than the code which I have written, does flash do better with bitmap objects rather than vectors in large quantities?

70 Buttons To Link To The Same Url. Is There A Quicker Way?
Hey masters! I have a project, and I have to redo the 70 buttons that I have. They are all going to the same url for example, going to www.flashkit.com. The thing is, the url for all the buttons I'm trying to assign is the same, except the end of the url. for example www.flashkit.com/here www.flashkit.com/overthere. is there a faster way of just automating the first url part, example, www.flashkit.com, so that I don't have to assign the url with all 70 buttons, one by one? in a layer of a file i downt want it to be in.
is this the correct method or is there a better way to unload?

Hi, im currently working with a lot of 'home made' components and anytime i make a change to them i have to recomplie the SWC file...restart flash 8...and then drag a new version of the component to the library im working with . Embed Swf's Into Html?quicker Loading?
I'm making a portfolio site. www.Escape-Theory.com The site loads wierd sometimes. The nav bars are suppose to shoot out, once my coat is open, but doesnt always work that way. The way I made my site was by making a Shell in flash and having the buttons load swf's from inside the Shell, then embedding the shell swf in an html page in Dreamweaver. Is there a way to embed swf's into the index.html page, so that it loads quicker so my movie will run smoothly? And is there a way to get rid of the square box around my flash file? I thought I embedded it correctly but maybe I didn't? I hate to be a pest, so thanks for all the help.

1. how do they make the website fit the screen? (look at the logo, if your screen is big, then it also becomes bigger. though, they make a minimum resolution. at some point, it doesnt go any smaller)
2. look at bar at the bottom, how can you make them stretch, following your window? (text "NIKEFOOTBALL.COM stays on left, nav menu stays on right side)
3. it seems that, the item that stretchable is only the background, but not the bar at the bottom. how can i do that?
