Flash :: Where Do You Find These Flash Backgrounds?

Hi all... I am struggling with a problem and have searche multiple times on here for the solution. I hope someone can point me in an appropriate direction! The difficulty is that I want to overlay Flash features on a background that was designed in Photoshop. I confess that I am a COMPLETE newbie at this... so many might be smiling behind their hands (or openly laughing) as I ask this question, but HOW DO I GET THE DANG THING to be the FULL background image for the site. Design idea SEEMS like it should be simple ie. 1)Background image (photoshop), 2)centered Flash movie to run 3) buttons surrounding the movie image for page navigation.

I am coming from an advertising/marketing design background, and FLASH sites have an AMAZING visual appeal (thus my interest), and since I started my own ad firm recently, it is no longer a financially practical option to "send out" the webwork to the geniuses... The programs that I have purchased are Flash, Dreamweaver, Adobe Go Live, (already had Photoshop CS and LOVE it) and while I am gaining MASSIVE amounts of "OH HOW COOL!!" knowledge, my understanding of "HOW DO I...?" leaves much to be desired!! Any help you can give me would be terrific... except for the phrase "YOU CAN'T GET THERE FROM HERE..." or a variation of that phrase!!

Flash Backgrounds
I got a problem in flash.
There is a variable that sets the background. When that is set the other backgrounds will be set to invisible.
I used the same code in another movie and it worked perfect. But now it doesnt want to work. Take a look in the attachment if it is not quite clear to you.

Flash Backgrounds
I recently started using flash mx while doing a prject for a progamming class in school. I'm just doing basic stuff but i havent been able to find a certain answer to my question. I used to use future basic two and in there you can create a program in which random numbers pop up while a random background also appears. I tried modifying this so that the numbers would morph and the background would change but i cant figure out how to get the randomly changing background....any one have any idea???

Jpg Backgrounds, Xml And Flash
Hi, I am using a flash file, which loads in jpg images via xml.  Everything works fine!!

But, the images I am loading are jpgs and they have a white background.  But what I want is for their backgrounds to be transparent.  It never looks good with a big white box background.

Is there a way I can use xml with my pics and get rid of the background of the images?  Is it true that xml only works with jpgs?
If so, is there any way to make the background transparent?  I hope someone has some insight into this for me.  Thanks

Flash Backgrounds
We've all seen sites do the full screen browser with flash. I understand how to do all of that, but how do they make the color of the ENTIRE background fade to a different one? I have been looking all over for a help, but can't seem to find it... Also, is there a way to make a repeating background in flash? So if you did do flash full screen, you would have to make the background HUGE to cover every inch that might be seen. Thanks a bunch for the help! Ask any questions if you don't get what i'm saying

Do you make a background in photoshop with a nice texture and import that background into flash?

If so, should the background be sliced or is there a cooler way of making a static background?

Flash And Table Backgrounds
Hey,

I have had this issue before and I have never been able to resolve it.

Here is an example of the issue. I have a table 2 x 2 in the first cell I put my flash move(we'll just say its roughly 500 x 75) , in the second cell (top right), I put in a background image and a spacer image. I do the same with the bottom 2 cells. So I end up with something like this.

Isn't my ascii lovely(sorry about the '.''s rahter then spaces, but the preview showed spaces not working properly). Anyway what I find is that the background image tends to not show up when flash is included in any part of the same table.

If any one can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

Expandable Backgrounds In Flash 6
Wow...I just noticed this and I hope it's easy to do.

Here's a web site that was submitted on "cool sites" just today.

Notice the beautiful asian-looking patterned creme and beige background on the left and right of the page? I was astounded...I thought it was an .html background, but when I right click on it it's part of the flash movie. From what I can gather these are three .swf files placed side-by-side, but I'm unsure how the pages were set so they can appear to expand to infinity. Any tutorials on this?

Transparent Flash Backgrounds
Does anyone know how to make transparent backgrounds in Flash? What I mean by that is that when you place the flash file on an HTML page, the page's background shows through instead of the assigned background colour in Flash.

I tried to work with the PUBLISH settings and made sure that WINDOW MODE is transparent. It still doesn't seem to work!

Bitmap Backgrounds In Flash 8
Using Flash's new BitmapData class and it's setPixel() method along with the new MovieClip beginBitmapFill() method, it is now possible to create patterned backgrounds directly inside of Flash.

This is just a quick tip, but in a nutshell, this is what is happening: we begin by creating a new 6 pixel by 6 pixel BitmapData and drawing a diagonal line across it. We then create a new MovieClip at an extremely low depth (to be sure it is below everything else that may be on the stage or created dynamically later). Finally, we simply fill the MovieClip with the BitmapData we just created. Easy peasy. I just love Flash.

Here is a quickie copy and paste example:

Transparent Backgrounds To Flash Movies?
Hey all,

Does anyone know if it is possible to make the background of your flash movie transparent?? so that you can see your HTML page beneath??

What i want is to make a greeting card that does the following.

1. The card , shut to begin with and landscape orientated, rises up the screen. HTML behind.

2. At the midle of the screen the card opens vertically - therefore doubling the size of the original shut card, and the original flash movie area.

3. All the while, you can see HTML around the card.

If i could make the background of my flash movie transparent then the card could flip open nicely in an HTML layer

I need help with this actionscript.I have 3 buttons and on each button I need to scroll one background from right to left and need another buttons background to come in from left to right and so on.

Scaling Flash Site W/ Changing Backgrounds

I've been tasked by a client to make a scaling flashsite that changes background through the various pages. In addition some of the other objects need to scale to page as well.

This is the page in its current form. The background and the buttons on that layer scale with the size of the browser window. But if you click "who is the Rabblerouser" the box with text opens and I'd rather that not scale or atleast scale to a smaller size. I realize its scaling because its on the movie that the action script is set to scale... so I don't know what the best practice is here. All of the example sites with scaling pages had one background

I still need to code a PHP mailer and put in a video when the client supplies it.

Creating Animated And Cool Flash Backgrounds
A number of top flash sites have a wonderful background effect, in which the borders draw themselves, or the outline of the movie tweens in.

What is the way to create this? I tried very hard, but could not find any tutorial....maybe because i am not aware of the technical terms.

If you are you will notice that there are a lot of Galleries with pictures and backgrounds and animations and so on. I was wondering if they were copyrighted and if it is illegal to take a picture or animation or background and put it in web page of your own or even make aweb page for some.

Also I was wondering if it legal to take a copyrighted picture and distort it eg. using Adobe Photoshop Glass effect or Ripple effect and use it on your web page.

Can you be sued for any of this stuff?

Please let me know. I don't want to get into any trouble.

Dynamic Flash Files And Weird White Backgrounds
Please help, I am delivering flash files using IFRAMES. The weird thing is that in IE 6 the backgrounds appear white. One of the files has an all red background, but it is coming up as white and some of the text is not legible since it is white too. I am not setting any background color in the embed tags, and the web page background is a dark grey.

Has anyone experienced this before in IE? How can I fix it?

Scale V Noscale Backgrounds In Full Browser Flash
G'day gurus

Like many of us, I'm into full browser Flash these days (you know the stuff, check my site out at http://www.bluepenguin.com.au) . I'm having a problem with one aspect of this style of site: the scale versus noscale thing with full screen background .jpg images.

There's an example at this site . . . http://www.zinkmag.com/

The image appears to be made for 1024x768 screen res and naturally, if the window resizes to a smaller size, the image "crops". However, if the window becomes larger (this is apparent for those of us with larger screen res) the image grows to accommodate the larger screen res.

Is anyone out there able to help me get my head around this? It's got to be simple but . . . you know how it is.

Repeating Backgrounds Within 100% Width/height Flash Files.
Working on a new clients web site, and we have decided to go all flash instead of flash/xhtml hybrid. Now I know how to use CSS to repeat a 2px background across the page.

What I would like to do, and am trying to figure out for this flash site is how to do the same thing as I could in CSS. That is make the background 2px wide and 1600px tall (or whatever), then make that repeat in the background.

The content within the flash file will not scale, with the site, only this gradient background.

Importing Pics Into Flash ..and Wasting Time Erasing Backgrounds
Hi,

I'm sick of importing images into flash and zooming into erase backgrounds. Even when I erase background in PS and import into Flash it is not super transparent so i have to re erase some background.

1) How do I quickly delete the background in PS? Is there a quick way to do it?
2) How do i import it into flash so i dont have to re do it as the edges are rough?

My 'find' Won't Find Empty Lines And } Now
on 750 buttons I'm trying to go from:

by deleting the empty lines and these } using find & replace - and when I hit replace all - it says none found, even though I copy directly from button code...

Is possible this happened by earlier having copied code from AS window - pasting it onto main stage to hold it while busy doing something else - then later double-clicking it and copying it into the find/replace window - which strangely puts little squares in wherever there was a carriage return??? Help please.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of Flash 5? (not a cracked version please) Macromedia doesnt sell older versions of Flash. I need Flash 5 because that seems to be the best version of Flash that properly imports linework from Illustrator. In MX and MX 2004, the linework (dashed lines) does not interpret properly.

I have implemented several test cases and found inaccuracy. Using
either "setProperty action" or "write a statement to assigns a value" to set
X and Y coordinates of a car image (Movie Clip) animation, car velocity
value is rounded differently depending on whether add or subtraction
operation is needed.

The followings are four examples where the car image moves in four
different directions (East, West, North, South) with respect to a
coordinate. In these examples, car velocity is assumed to be constant - i.e.,
10/12 in a 12fps movie. The velocity is traced by finding the difference of
the coordinate after an addition or subtraction operation.

velocity = 10/12 ;
