Make A Flash Menu Like DHTML?
Hey Everyone!

I am making a menu on this page : http://www.mcintoshdesign.com/esrg/ and I was wondering if there was a way to make the menu like a DHTML menu where you put the mouse over the main buttons and then the sub menus appear much like they do now, but I want them to disappear after you take the mouse off of the sub menu or the main menu item. Make A .js Sub-menu Appear On Top Of Flash Movie
I have an enormous problem.. I have a javascript menu that tiles horizontally. bellow it is a flash movie. for some reason the sub navigation to the menu is appearing behind my .js menu????

Just to be clear, my .js script can not be changed as it is generated dynamicaly. So essentially i need to find a fix for this!

Hey!

M trying to make a drop down menu...'Choose you country' now according to my layout designed..below this box..comes the normal html menu and so on...! i m not knowing..when i do my flash menu...what size shud the movie be..? shud it be jus a box which shows the 'choose your country' tab..or shud it be the size including the drop down...once clicked..??

coz if i make the movie size..including the drop down space..then my swf file will push the html menu below..leaving a blank space..until someone selects on the tab to choose his country...! now i really dunno what to do..?? m doing this for the 1st time..a FLASH MENU

Will Flash Make This Kind Of DVD Menu?
So I have livetype now but I want to switch to Adobe. What I need to make is a DVD menu with animation and sound. I have the animation from livetype but livetype doesn't allow sound. Which adobe program will allow me to animate a DVD menu (hopefully I can link the chapters in encore the the "#" label in photoshop) and also use sound? Flash? illustrator? I'm not really familiar with these. Basically which is most like livetype that allows sound use?

Attempting To Make Flash Menu
I have a small menu I am attempting to make with Flash that contains 5 icons for my web site.

I have figured out how to get each of the icons to swap colors in the instance of a mouseover, by switching the image to a button and setting the various frames for each state, however, I can not figure out how to apply an external link to the button.

I have attempted this actionscript:

Rollover the top horizontal nav = "Products - Company - News - Opps - Tech", I'm trying to make these with their sub menus in my flash file - but have no idea how to do it...I've only got as far as the main buttons, though I've been trying to make sub menu work.

So how do I make the sub menus "stay on" when I roll out of the main heading, down to select a sub heading? And then how do I highlight the sub heading when hover, and on click it goes to the correct page? Lots of questions...

It reads all the link text from a navigation .txt file,
But i was wondering how i could make the text larger, as when I open my web page, i really have to strain my eyes to see.

Can't Make A Right-click Menu? Make A Middle-click Menu
Since so many people are always wanting to make a context menu that appears at the mouse position, and because it's such a pain to get rid of the flash right-click menu (and the methods i've seen are not cross browser) I decided to go about finding a way to make a middle-click menu. Most mice these days have a mousewheel and the vast majority of those mousewheels also act as a 3rd button if you push down on them. So here is the result of my labor. A way to detect the middle mouse up and down actions in Flash.

In case you're wondering, asNative is an undocumented feature of flash. It refers to the native function table that resides in the flash player. asNative(800, 2)(4) returns true or false depending on weather the middle mouse is down or up respectively. FYI, replacing the 4 with other numbers activates for other buttons (including keyboard keys). 1 is left click, 2 is right click, 3 doesn't seam to do anything, 4 is the middle mouse button, 5 is a 4th mouse button if mouse has one. Here is the most extensive reference for the asNative function that I have found. I suppose you could do the same thing with Key.isDown(), but messing with undocumented stuff is so much cooler .

If anybody does know a way to get rid of flashes right-click menu, reliably and across multiple browsers please post it here because this method could easily be converted into right-click detection.

I've been very frustrated trying to find help, and I just found this helpful Flash Kit site, so I hope you guys can finally give some good advice! ^_^

I'd like to make one of my websites have a menu. When a button is pressed, another menu will pop up with the product (shirts). This new menu will have a "previous" and a "next" button. When one of those is pressed, it will take the user to the previous or next shirt design.

Can someone explain this to me in detail? I need a step by step tutorial of how I can create this. If you need to, you may email or icq me with your explanation, because I know it will be long.

I am familiar with the concepts here, but would die for a working version of say three buttons, that once pressed, would reposition the movie clip, like in the site.

I have a MainClass and a MainMenu inside of this class. Inside the menu, I have multiple menu items.

I was wondering how the best way to set up a menu in Flash is?

I want all the button code to be - offcourse - inside the MainMenu class, but I want the MainClass to know which new object to create when a button is clicked.

I COULD do this by listening to the MainMenu in my MainClass and the making a switch statement:
