Flash :: Adding Background Music.

Adding Background Music, Stop And Playing At Certain Times
Okay, when I start my movie, I want the background music to play, but when I go to the next scene I want it to stop and play a different song. I am using actionscript, I exported my song using the linkage thing, so I want to use actionscript also because I will be creating play and stop buttons. If you have any suggestions on those too you can post them Thanks to anybody that can help!

I am totally new to Swish 2.0 and I have a music question.

Now, I have downloaded a song that is about 3 1/2 minutes long but I only need a the beginning of the song for the movie, which I have placed the pics and text accordingly so the movie and snippet end at the same place....

Problem:

I need an extra 10 seconds for the snippet of music I want to add. The song snippet goes to like frame 178 but when I add the music to the movie....the song snippet ends at like 167...I need the extra seconds for the song cause it ends right in the middle of the sentence and then the whole movie and music starts over.

I could snip the music a few seconds earlier but then I have a problem that it still ends at frame 167.

The song was downloaded as an MP3 file.

I have tried everything and I just can't seem to get the extra 10 seconds I need. Is there a trick to this?

This is a very generic question. I attempting to add music to my SWF. I want to use all action script and do not want to import the music first. If someone could explain the steps and code it would be greatly appreciated. The file is an MP3.

I've added music to my website, and even with 8kbs the file size is huge. The problem is my movie has a few different scenes and I want different music on each scene, so have been importing the mp3s and using the event setting, with Stop All Sounds at the beginning of each scene.

Does anyone have any good ways of getting the file size down as I'm at a ridiculous 11Mb for my movie.

Hi there

I've had a catastrophe this week, in that my hard drive failed on me, loosing a whole lot of work (Unless that it, I want to pay 1000 odd quid to retreive the data - ouch!)

Anyway, my problem is that a client has come back to me asking for some music to be added to the intro animation of their site. As I've lost all my working files, I no longer have the fla file to edit. Can anyone tell me whether there's a way of adding sound to the swf file? If not, are there any free/opensource flash decompilers around that I could try using to get over this problem.

simple question im sure

im a newish newbie to flash. ive imported a song, .mp3, and just need to know how to 'link' it to a frame. the frame is static and it will be background music until they click a button which takes them to another frame. once the button is clicked the music should stop...how can i achieve this.

also, where abouts do i find the library where all my pictures and music is imported into??

I've got a recordplayer that drops from the air at the start of my movie. A record drops down, the arm moves onto the record and the music starts. Viewers then press buttons in the movie which take them to different scenes, some of which also have the record player, but each scene plays different music.

The problem is, I'm not sure what setting to use! I want to make a small loop from the tracks so my swf size isn't ridiculously big. I have been making a loop inside flash, but unless I choose "Stream", it ignores my editing and plays the whole song.

The problem with "Stream" is that when I go to a different scene I can't use "StopAllSounds" to stop the music, so I end up with several tracks playing over each other, sounding a bit like a train crash.

The problem with using "Event" is that it won't let me edit my track to use a small loop to reduce file size.

Can anyone help me please?

Ok adding music sounded simple enogh, then Flash threw a curve ball at me.

The only thing I can think of is file type(MP3) and bite rate(320)

Anything you could think of would be good.

I have an mp3 track that loops on my website that is five minutes long. I am currently re-designing my site, and i'm wondering the best way to put it on there so that my flash movie isn't so big. Currently before I put the music on there the SWF file i export is 140kb. After i put my music in there, its over a Meg (somewhere around 1.08mb)

Is there any technique I should know about to make it smaller? After I post this I'm gonna edit it in Nero or some program i can find to make it smaller.

BTW I imported the mp3 file into a a movieclip and just kept adding frames until I got to the end of the track. In the properties, it's set to:

Effect: none
Sync: Stream, repeat, 0
44khz stereo 16bit 275.3s 4404.2kb

I have a movie,about 350 kb size.....REALLY big already i think...
I have an wav file wich is about 290 kb long and i want to loop it in my movie....what is the better way to do it?

I have asked this another time in the forum but i'm kind of confuse of how to do it...i know how to but my movie will get bigger and that's not right what i want...i think the solution is using another movie and the loadmovie action...

Does someone have code for a simple music control I can insert into my mainly html web page? All I'm looking for is basically cut and paste code that I can specify my music loop of chose and basically have a small play button and small stop button (my whole website is black on white text so the buttons would have ot be black). Does anyone have htat code that can easily be inserted into a completed website?

Or even better yet one like here www.gladnick.netfirms.com just 3 small black buttons that play 3 different songs and a fourth to turn it off.

My website as at www.objektivphoto.com - I just want to put a small unobtrusive button/s in the top left hand corner oppoasite the web designers logo in the top right hadn corner. That top part of the page is a frame that always stays loaded throughout the entire site so only the bottom changes so it would work well. Thanks.

I am making an invitation to a new yeears eve party which I will burn on to a cd as projector file (he says hopefully). I have a 3 minute MP3 which I would like to play as the background music just once i.e. the length of the movie will be the same as the MP3 length.

What is the best way to do it?

If I put it in a movie clip, do I have to make the movie clip timeline the same number of frames as the MP3 requires?

If I put the sound on a separate layer in the main movie timeline do I have to do the same thing?

I created a presintation and placed a mp3 as background music. Depending on a person ability to read they need to stop the pres. I need to pause the pres. and mp3 with the pause button and then start the pres. and mp3 up again with the play button.
when i tried using actions i end up with the sound track stopped and never starts again (stop all sounds). Or if i picked stop the pres stops but the mp3 continues playing.
how can i pause my pres. and sound track and restart them were they stopped????

Plz Help With Background Music.
When i reach the end of my flash intro i want music to play until the person veiwing it clicks the "Enter Site Button". How would i go about doing this?

This is going to sound like a stupid question but I've been asking alot of stupid questions lately since I've been out of the Flash scene since about version 4 or 5.... =)

2 Questions:

1) In MX is there a better way to do background music than loading a external movie into your main movie and just having the music looping in the external movie?

2) Is there a way to make a bar of the sound level go up an down with the actual beats of the music?

What is the easiest way to put background music into my flash movie? I am currently using a .swf that has the a few .mp3's with linkage to "export for actionscript."

I can get one song to play but once it's done I don't know how to get it to play the other mp3 song. Of tried using the "onSoundComplete" event that doesn't work.

I was sort of hoping someone out there has gotten multiple songs to play in the background and would be willing to post an .fla or at least point me in the right direction!

I would like to put a different background music for each scene (when you hit the button for any other scene the music of the current scene stops and the music of the next one starts). A start and stop button in every scene would also be nice. Did I make myself clear?.

Howdy everyone,

I am new to the flash world and I'm having a few problems. I've imported background music into my flash movie. I can see the blue wave file in the timeline. However, when I go to "test movie" the sound file only plays for a second then goes off. But the entire sound track is on the timeline. Doesn't make sense. Also, I can't hear the sound while I'm moving the playhead across the timeline.

If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it. It has frustrated me for over 2 days.
