hello..
there is this funny sound in my cpu like fanning.. when im viewing sites (including my own) with flash movies in it..
is that bad?? what is it and is there some ways to set my flash movies so computer wont react much to it??
this sound scaring me..

Viewing Flash Movies W/ V.9 Player Crashes
Has anyone had any problem viewing flash movies on a Mac with the newest v.9 player? All our Mac's with the v.9 flash player take an extra 11-12 seconds to show up and have a tendency to crash our browsers. But viewing the exact same movie on the exact same computer with the v.8 player they work just fine. I've tried it on all our Mac's running different OS... both Power PC and Intell... different browsers and I am getting the same result. Flash 9 takes longer to load in and crashes the browser but 8 works just fine. However on a PC it works just fine with the v.9 player. I use Influxis and talked to them today...they can't seem to figure it out and are having their mac guy look into it for me. Thought I'd see if anyone else has had this problem. On a side note I like to listen to BBC Radio 1 and that site crashes on me all the time. But never happened before I installed the v.9 player. Did a little digging and found other people having the same problem. They say it has something to do with the banner ad's/video's being export to Flash 9.
If anyone has any ideas...please help me out. Below are a couple of links. The second one is a test Influxis set up as a test while I was on the phone with them. It uses a simple NetConnection with no player component. Both work great on all out Mac's with the v.8 player but not with the v.9.

Viewing Movies Imported Into Flash 4 When Exported As Executable File
I am importing quicktime files into flash 4 and I want to publish the flash file as a windows projector (executable file) so that I can put it on CD Rom and have it autostart. When I publish the file to windows projector and view the finished executable file the video does not show up. I can view the flash animation, graphics, and even hear the imported wav file, but there is no video. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to include a QuickTime Video (mov) file in a flash file to create a finalized Executable (exe) file?
Please Help. I know it can be done, just don't know how to do it. If you know of anything that can accomplish this please let me know.

Eliminating Security Restrictions In Internet Explorer When Viewing Flash Movies?
Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a bit of advice concerning my flash animation....
I am very new to using Flash, but have managed to make an animation, and I'm using Macromedia Dreamweaver to make my website.
I have tried the "Insert>Media>Flash" and "Insert>Media>Shockwave" in Dreamweaver to get my flash animation into my website.
However, when I try to preview my .htm file, Internet Explorer v6 brings up a message below the Navigation bar saying: "to help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file..."
I can click this prompt and allow the animation to be shown, but IE does not do this with other websites' flash animations, and I would prefer if people looking at my website did not see this message, as they might think im trying to send them a virus.
How do I go about by-passing this problem? There must be a way round it as I have seen loads of flash animations without this prompt showing. I am too inexperienced to know where to start though.
Any input would be greatfully appreciated,

Noob Problem. No Sound On Sites With Flash?
Hi I have just gone to a site that I found at work that uses sound boards, ie a page that has a few buttons which when you click them the play a sound such as homer simpson saying and such. At work the sounds are fine but my home pc does not play them???

Best Way To Preload Other Movies While Viewing Current
I am working on a timeline project that shows various date periods. My client has requested that I preload other timeline periods while viewing the currently selected time period.
For instance. If I loaded in the swf for 1801-1850 and you are browsing through it I need to also preload in 2 other timeline periods which are 1580sto1800.swf and 1851to1900.swf. Of course they would not show until they are requested by a button click for that date. I have each swf movie loads into a movieclip instance called _root.tlload

Best Way To Load Movies For Online Viewing?
Hey everybody,
I'm creating an interactive module in which I want to display several videos. There are 11 different sections to this module, and most of them have a video that I'd like to play in that section. So I was just wondering what might be the best way to do this? I figure importing them into the flash file so they are all in the swf will make the file much too big. Does anybody know any good tutorials or have any good advice for this situation?

Eerie Rolling Eyes
Hey everyone
Two very nice members of this forum helped me implement a rolling eye ball which follows the mouse in my website - www.tomsegal.com.
I got a cool idea and I was wondering whether you guys could help me with it - I want to make it so that the eyeball slowly follows the mouse, as in, it slowly turns in the direction of the mouse, but in a lazy way, not instantly like it does now.
Is that possible to make?
If so I'll implement it for many many eyes in my website

He'p Loading Web Sites Into Flash Sites
Hey, all--
I'm trying to find a way to load an external website directly into a specific area of a Flash movie/site, without opening up a new window or replacing all of the movie's contents in the current browser window. My movie is built around a designed frame (not .html frame, but a graphic that frames the content) with a nav bar along the left side of the frame and a big hole in the center where most of the content lives. Is there a way I can load sites directly into that hole, keeping the graphic frame and nav bar where they are, around it? Or would it require rebuilding the page using .html frames, cutting up the graphics around the hole and making each of those chunks its own .html frame?

No Sound In Flash Movies
I've downloaded the latest flash player and still can get no sound from my movies...
I've had to reinstall my audio codecs to get things like avi files etc to work... i think this all happened when I installed winamp... never liked it anyway!
Anyway my codecs are all messed up... whats a few general codecs some flash movies use? at least I'm assuming thats what the problem is...
Right now I've got:

I see a site where people can build their sounds using existing sounds...
also they can save at the site..call it after a time...
probably they use database at back-end.. with may be some serer side scripting..(eg asp,php etc)...

Sound Linkage When Loading Movies Into Movies
I have an intro.swf file that is basically a movie with sound that is exported for actionscript but not exported in the first frame. I just stuck it in a movie on my timeline and it works great and the preloader works because it doesn't load the sound before the preloader. I use :
musicSound = new Sound();
musicSound.attachSound("music");
musicSound.start();
to play the sound in intro.swf.
However, now this intro.swf gets loaded into an index.swf and everything works fine and the sound plays as long as I have the sound included in BOTH the intro.swf and the index.swf and the sound is exported on the first frame in the index.swf. I was hoping I could remove the sound entirely from my index.swf since it already loads into the intro but so far I havenβt been able to figure out how without breaking the sound. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone Viewing This Swf Can Change It For Everyone Viewing

I dont post much because usually I can just search for my question and I'll get an answer within minutes. However I was not even real sure how to ask this question in the form of a search so I guess it would be best to describe how it would work.
Is the following possible with flash?
4 people are viewing the same web page with the same swf file. The movie contains 4 blocks that each time you click on it, it changes to a different color.
One person clicks on one block and it turns blue, then immediately the other three people viewing the same web page see one block turn blue because of an action someone else across the world did.
Is this possible?
I have a proficiency level with sharedObjects but I think thats strictly a local technology that works sort of like registry keys. I suppose what I'm looking for is a way for every user in the world who sees this web page to share a variable list. How do I do that?

Viewing Flash In The Web
Hi, am a beginner in flash. I published my flash work as an html file and I put it on the web and it works perfectly on my computer, but when I went to a different computer the flash did not work, I think the problem is that am using Flash 6 and the other computer was looking for Flash 5, I don't think it could play Flash 6. I tried playing with the publishing settings and that didn't work. So can you guys help me on how to make this work on any kind of computer. Thank for your help.

also i tried a different method my FE place use this thing www.e2bn.n*t and u have ur own hompage and it says that u can upload shockwage or flash files and when i uploaded the file it said this is not a file that can be displyaed or sum **** like that and then said Sorry, only images, audio, video, flash or shockwave files are allowed.........

Viewing Flash In A PDF
Hi There.
I am hoping that someone will be able to help me on this one, but chances are they cant.
I have a swf file that is created and changes depending on a bunch of dynamic variables from a database. It generates a map which looks different depending on these variables. I am generating a pdf which goes along with the map, so that people can save their map to their harddrive. Is there anyway that I can, on the fly, export the swf file as another file format for inclusion in the pdf, or any other way of getting this information into the pdf?

Viewing ASP In Flash
This is really ****ing me off. I cant view my ASP in Flash.
I have used

and nothing happens!! The syntax is all correct and the dynamic text Var is set to: _root.records .
Also I have made another asp page which shows all records from the database with a repeat region setting but it still doesnt show.
When I view the ASP page the source is

so everythings right there. Somethings wrong in Flash. IT JUST ISNT DISPLAYING IN THE DYNAMIC TEXT AREA!

Viewing Area In Flash
Okay this is my problem, I am doing something in flash similar to what 2A has done on the http://www.immigrantindustries.com/immigrantrecords/
site. I have made a movie clip that is really really wide, and when a different link is pressed i wwant different part sof the movie clip to scroll left and right displaying the correct information. Now the problem is i casnt get the "editing" area wide enough for me to makke the movie clip as wide as i want ( i hope that made sense) basically how am I able to get the "editing" area wide enough so that i can have a movie clip that is atleast 4500 px wide (6 differnt scenes at 750 px each) I am able to fit 3 of the scenes, but i cant get the left and right scroll to scroll over enough to fit the otheer 3....help....and if there is a better way to do this than please let mee know....Thanks

Viewing Flash At Employer
There are problems with some employees viewing flash objects in a web site that was created in our company. The problems are mainly with people who have Windows XP computers. Anyone with Windows 98 do not have this problem. I asked the network Administrator if he's blocked out any streaming videos, etc., (they have recently blocked us from downloading fonts, programs from the internet and personalizing our computers) but he says that he hasn't. The first page of the website is the only one that shows but the other pages that also contain flash objects at the top of each page do not show up (just a white box). Can anyone help? The administrator, signed on as an administrator, has no problems, however, he signs on as a user and the problem appears. He has someone checking in to this. I currently have not been switched over to XP as of yet but by the end of the month I will have it. I just don't see any reason to update skills if they're taken away by network administrators unless there's a way around it. Thanks in advance for any information you may have.

Viewing Flash On Wintels
Hi,
I've just built this site with an interactive demo done in Flash that is about 568k in size. It works fine on any Mac (OS9x/OSX) but on all Wintel-based machines that I've tried the file stops downloading in the middle and just hangs there indefinitely.

Flash Viewing Problems
When viewing a page with flash elements (in Explorer), sometimes when scrolling down the page, the flash animation follows the scroll.
For example:
If there is an animation at the top of the page and I scroll down before the animation has completely loaded, the animation actually appears whrever it is I scroll to. I was told it is a memory problem but I've seen it happen on many different machines.
Any thoughts from anyone???? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Viewing Flash In Netscape
I've made a flash site using Flash MX and publish it using Dreamweaver MX 2004. It has no problem browsing it in IE but I could not view it in Netscape (I'm using the latest version 7.1), appear only a white blank box (kind the size of my .swf file)...

I iwsh to make a flash in wish you may browes the web, and be able to have muitle windows (in the form on in symbols) open at one time. so in a way it would be a broswer, but it is ok for it to run in ie/firefox. does anyone have any idea how i might achive this?

Viewing HTML Within Flash?
I know this can be done, but I can't remember how I used to load up HTML pages within flash. What I'm doing is making a flash site for a frat at my University. Initially we were going to use frames (one on top and one on bottom) but page loading would become tiresome. There are some pages of there old site and links that are just not able to be converted to flash. For those pages I wanted to be displayed in a portion of the current flash movie.
I can't remember if it was a component or like a dynamic text file being used to display the information.
Regardless, what would be a good way of allowing me to view HTML within Flash?

Viewing Flash In Powerpoint
I'm having a nightmare! I've built a Powerpoint presentation and embedded Flash charts in it. I can view it and so can a view others but not all people can see the flash. Apparently all you need is flash player to view the flash but that doesn't seem to be true. Is there a way of bundling the flash player with the powerpoint so it will automatically run on any system???

Viewing Html In Flash?
the following is a mockup of the website im making: click here
what im trying to accomplish is having the grey area read off of html files such that the contents scroll behind the soldier character. every section has a different soldier character.
i want to use html so that the content itself can be updated more easily. also, i want to be able to use html features such as images changing on mouseovers, links within the html document, etc. customizing the scroll-bar for ie would be nice too.
ive tried to think of ways of doing this in plain html (fixed backgrounds, etc) but cannot think of a method to keep the soldier image in front of the content - which is really the main reason why im resorting to flash.
is this doable? any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

[MX]Limiting Flash Viewing
Is there a way to somehow send code into Flash, that will detect whether you have viewed the Flash already.
What I need, is to make it so you can only view it once. For example:
It will send you to Frame 2 instead of Frame 1 because you have already viewed it once.
I think I'd need a webspace wouldn't I? Can this still be done with a Free Webspace? (Freewebs.com) Or will I need more control over the website?

Viewing PDF Inside Flash
i wanna display a pdf document in my movie. so i think i need a pdf viewer that will load pdf's at runtime and render it or a converting tool that will let me convert pdf to swf offline;
i saw AlivePDF but it seems it is for generating PDF at client side. i couldn't find methods to view PDF in it. is it possible with AlivePDF?
i also tried pdf2swf in the SWFTools but it gives me an AVM1Movie which doesn't give me much interactivity. anyone know of an AS3 version of this?
EDIT: I tried FlashPaper just now. it is also AVM1Movie, but it gives me a little more interactivity; only scrolling pages using scrollbar is possible. other functionalities like prev page, next page, search, hand cursor etc are not available, though corresponding buttons/components are shown there (and was working fine when i opened them in standalone player). so i think it is AVM1Movie issue; is there an AVM2 version available?

Viewing PDFs In Flash
We want to view some PDFs in a Flash-based training piece we are creating. I looked at FlashPaper and another tool called PDF2SWF. The two issues I see are that some fonts don't look quite right in the SWF (heavy fonts get a little muddy), and I would like my developer to create a viewer that works more like a book, so pages scrolling vertically won't work.
Are there other options? Has someone done something like this? I have Flash CS3, but my developer has Flash 8, so we are probably limited to that, unless new capabilities in CS3 make it worthwhile for my developer to upgrade.

Website Viewing In Flash?
I have a question that may have been answered before, and if so I am sorry. But here it is, I wanted to know if and how to view a full webpage (Like yahoo, MSN, or any other) in flash. But I wanted to know if you could make it show in a certain size and place, like when a frame is entered, yahoo's main webpage will be shown at the bottom left of the screen and only be about 1/4 of the screen (which is only the bottom left). Get it? And if this is possible, is it possible to get text from a site only andplace it in a text field?
I love learning new things, so if anyone could help me on this, I would be thankfull.
