Flash :: Animated Gifs Exported From Mx Losing Quality

Quality Of Animated GIFs
Is there anyway to increase the quality of animated GIF's that are exported from Flash? As of now, they come out very grainy. However, I would like to use the transitions that Flash is capable of but it has to be in GIF format. (This is a banner ad that will be submitted to a site that does not accept .swf)

Creating High Quality Animated Gifs

I have been trying to create high quality animated gifs with flash mx. I cant use and gradients or bitmaps because they end up being all messed up.

But, On the web i see all sorts of animated gifs with full gradients and photos.

Can i do this with Flash, if so, what settings should i use........... or should i use different software for this. ( i am a macintosh user)

Animated GIF In Flash - Losing Image Quality
I am trying to create an ainimated GIF in flash, it contains photos fading in and out - i am losing all the image quality in the photos when doing it though. Anyoone got a solution - image quality is set to max.

Image Quality Lost, Exported At 100% JPEG Quality
I am working on a Flash website for a design group to display their work. These designs needed to be scaled down to fit the format of the website and many of these designs have body copy with small text. In the FLA file they look ok, but when I export the SWF, the text looks really bad.I know JPEG compression isn't very good for text but even when I export at 100% JPEG quality it still ends up looking different. The text looks very "sparkly" with the thins of the letters have been lost. The original assets that they gave me were all in one photoshop file at 150dpi with one design per layer and some of the text were just slightly pixelated if you zoom in (all text were rasterized and flattened into the designs). Some of the same images supposedly from that file had been used on their previous site with no problem. On some of the images in the PSD I can see that some of the thin strokes in the letters had been lost a little from scaling the designs down. This has been really frustrating and I can't think of how to rememdy this problem. Anyone have any suggestions?

Exporting Gifs And There Quality...
Hi when exporting gifs why is it that they are always of terrible quality? Either static or animated i just cant seem to get them of any sort of quality.

I usually have to screenshot and save in photoshop, flash must be capable of saving a gif properly?
Even simple banners etc i have to save as swf because gif wont work, its insane.

Any suggestions?

how can i make a good quality gif in flash. i import the images files and get it working how i want but when i export it i lose alot of the quality. im exporting at the same resolution as the images i imported yet they look crappy. it is almost like some of the colours are wrong. i have messed around with the settings but cant figure it out. any ideas?

Having Issues With Quality Settings And GIFs
First off, thank you to everyone who has helped me get this far.

The attached image shows the same XML photogallery, but at two different Quality settings. For some reason, at the setting of "High" my Imported GIF Files (with Allow Smoothing turned off, and placed on whole integer values), the GIFs/Buttons look crappy. As soon as the Quality setting is changed to "Low" the buttons look perfect.

Here-in lies the problem: I have tried to make some control buttons that will fast forward, go back and pause the animation and transition. Anytime I import these buttons, whether they are PNGs, GIFs or JPG's they look absolutely terrible. Obviously this is happening because the Quality setting is "Low," but it seems even if I change it to "High" that I am still not getting the exact image that I created in photoshop.

If more screen shots are needed, please let me know. I can attached an image of what the control buttons are supposed to look like as well if that helps (because its not either of the ones in this screen shot)?

I'm creating animated gifs using flash. However, once
the file has been published and I view in a browser the images look very fuzzy. I've tried everything I can think of in the publish settings, but nothing works to smooth out the images.

I created a little animation in Flash and I would like to make it an animated gif. I went to the tutorials section and found the following:

1. Create any animation you like in flash
2. Goto 'File' 'Save as'
3. A Save As dialog box will appear. Now click on the drop down menu next to the word 'Save as type' and select 'Animated gif'
4. Press the 'save' button.

Now, my problem is...when I go to 'File' 'Save As', my only options are to save it as an FLA for MX or 5.

Why would this be?

Hi. I use Flash to create animated GIF banner ads. I exparamented using some of the new filters in F8 to export as a GIF. When its a static gif, it works fine, but when its animated, it doesnt work (attached is a sample). Is there an option somewhere in publish settigns that I'm missing? any ideas? Howdy. I read that I could make animated gifs with flash. So I made a little movie and tried doing as the people on the forum I found said; exporting instead of saving. Only it always comes out as single image non moving. So apparently i'm doing it wrong. I tried both export image and movie and niether work.
I uploaded a flash mx file that I tried to turn into a gif (somethign simple) of a smiley blinking. I have been unable to do as they said was possible so far and was wondering if anyone here could help me out.

LOSING PIC QUALITY WHEN FADING IN...
Every time I import a graphic, and I fade it in with brightness -100 and create motion tween to 0 and then test my movie, I lose all kinds of pic quality (Especially in TEXT!!!) Any Help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!Thanks in advance

Importing Without Losing Quality...
Is there a way to import jpegs and avi files so you don't lose so much as much quality? All my export settings are at their highest, but when I import high quality jpegs and avi's, they come in at such a low quality it doesn't matter how I export them. Any suggestions on how I can get optimum image quality? Thanks.

Jpgs Losing Quality...why?
Ok, here it is! After saving a jpg from photoshop [not using the save for web option] i import it to flash.....but the jpg seems well...errr...bland....too palid....it loses a lot of the original colors...why is flash doing this? All of my programs keep the colors intact....anybody with the same problem???

Maybe flash makes everything websafe....or it isnt reading ICC profiles....i dont know.......

Ok, the above page comes up ok, but after playing around with it for a few seconds the quality of the flash automaticaly jumps from high to low? why? I cant seem to figure it out.

by the way only click on the "websites" box, its the only one I've done and the others will just get stuck.

I don't want to continue making more pages if Im doing something wrong you know.

Losing Quality - Weird
I'm loading an external swf file into another. For some reason, when I was working on just the informational part of my design, it loaded everything fine and there was no quality loss. However, when I combined my intro with my information part, I suddenly lost quality in some of the graphics in these external swf files. It's strange because when I go to open the external swf file, everything looks great. But when my main swf file loads the external file, it loses quality. It's only in a few graphics on my scroller - the text and graphics behind the text look fine. Check out the site.

Losing Image Quality
Hello...

I have captures a screen from an access database using the print screen button. I then pasted this image into photoshop and saved as a jpg.
This image looks fine in photoshop and all the text is readable. However, when I import to Flash the quality is reduced and the text within the image is unreadable.

Does anyone know why this is, or what I can do to avoid it ?

I'm trying to create a flash movie using gif images I have created in another application.

I copy and paste the images into the flash movie but they come out very poor quality and also seem to be smaller than the original gifs I created.

Horrendous Decrease In Quality When Exported
I just finished my little project a while ago and i have come to find that it does not show up well on other people's computers. It is pointless for me to have a webpage that only looks good on my computer. I have attatched a zip of the exported swf. Please if you can help me, go to www.ze.cjb.netand see if there is a difference in quality between what is on my website and what is in the swf. When i exported the movie, it was set at to the highest quality and the fonts are embedded (it think) and also it has not been compressed. PLEASE HELP ME IF YOU CAN. I cannot figure it out.

Animated Gifs Look Like Poop
Playing with the animated gifs and they are all coming out looking grainy and pixelated when I export them via flash. Even when I import a gif that looks great from photoshop and then export it again as another gif from flash it looks like crap.

I've played with all my export settings and nothing really appears to be working for me.

Hi everyone. This is such a newbie question. I'm trying to import an animated gif into MX. It imports it as a sequence of frames, but it always imports it where I don't want it. Is there any way to move all of the frames to where I want it? I know I can move each frame, but there has to be an easier way to move all of the images to where I want it right?

I've got a movie with a mask that reveals some text - but I need to export this as an animated GIF. The GIF seems to ignore the mask.

I'm new at Flash... I've been trying tutorials and I'm reading a book (hi, btw) to learn as much as I can about it...

I made this signature for a halloween themed signature contest... i published it and I'm trying to use Magic SWF to GIF converter to convert it to an animated gif.... but when I do, everything that I converted to a symbol disappears... i've also tried just exporting it as an animated gif, which gives poor quality results, but then it doesn't quite work right... This happens all the time when I try to do this... I don't know why or if there's a way around it... can someone enlighten me?

I am a bit of an AS2 newbie. I have a project that loads and displays a remote swf using MovieClipLoader. It can also load and display a remote gif. However, if the gif is an animated-gif, it only displays the first frame of the gif. How can I display all the frames in an animated gif?

I'm using Eclipse and FAME to write and compile my AS2 code, not FlashMX or any Adobe or Macromedia Flash authoring tool.

I import an animated GIF into flash 8. i want to change it's location on the screen, but then i need to move it frame by frame. I tried importing it into a movie clip, but when i drag the movie clip on, only 1 keyframe is on the timeline, so there's no animation.

I am using Flash CS3 and i am experiancing some weird problems. i have created a number of animated gifs with Photoshop CS3 but whenever i import them to Flash it takes the second to last frame, duplicates it, then puts it behind the last frame. now when i try to select it to remove it the 2 are 1. So i cant. Has anyone else had this problem? if so what did you do to fix it?

I am currently redesigning a website for someone, but they are not too keen on the use of Flash. This includes external company banners, as well as nav etc on their own site.

Except for the nav side of things, is there anyway that a Flash banner can be automatically replaced by an animated gif, if the user does not have the Flash player.

I am looking for a way that this can be done without A) The user being redirected to a pure HTML version of the site, as it is not a full Flash site to begin with , and B) without the user getting prompted to download Flash Player.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated . . . . .

Using Gotoandplay On Animated Gifs
I am trying to use gotoandplay on an animated gif (made in Fireworks containing two scenes), but it does not work when I click on it with the mouse. It does, however, change scene when hitting the enter key (do not know if that indicates anything??)

I have used the following syntax

on (Release) {
gotoAndPlay ('presentation', '1');
}

It works on a non-animated button/gif so I assume it has something to do with the animation??

Hi, I have a bitmap image which im zooming into. It looked ok when putting it together, but when I export it it becomes very pixelated. I have adjusted my export settings so its not compresed and jpeg quality is set to 100%. Why it still look bad? What else can I do?
