::Any Actionscript Courses?
I was just wondering if anyone knew of any Actionscript courses in the New England area. I have taken one year of C++ and I know a bit of JAVA and I have figured out enough Actionscript to get by on the skin of my teeth. Any information that could be offered on this subject would be greatly appreciated

Online Courses
Hi all. Wondering if anyone has gone through the online Macromedia Flash courses (Macromedia University). Was it beneficial? I'm thinking about it, so just wanted other opinions. I'm especially interested in the actionscript courses and if it teaches more than you could get out of, say, the flash book that came with the program.
Thanks.

Flash Courses
Hello, I don't know if this is the right forum to place this, but here goes.
I am looking for some flash courses based in the Davis, California area. I have looked at some of the universities and community colleges around, but none seem to have what I'm looking for, so I figured I'd ask if anybody knew of any (school or private company wise).
Thanks in advance.
Q's About Flash Courses
Hi,
I'm a co-op at General Electric. I have some programming (C++ and Java) experience, so they put me on a project to develop simulations of the user interfaces of our appliances using Flash. I've been doing this for about three weeks and really enjoy Flash, it's an excellent tool.
Anyway, we're trying to expand the use of this tool, so we need to teach more people how to use Flash and ActionScript to make these simulations. I've been poking around on the Internet for people and groups who teach courses in Flash/ActionScript. I've found several companies (Ledet, Accelebrate) which offer on-site courses, but it's hard to find anything local (Louisville, KY).
What I'm trying to find out is what is the general opinion of these courses? Are they worthwhile? I that saw the course outline of one of them was EAS2.0's table of contents copy&pasted, which doesn't really impress me. Regardless of whether they're worthwhile, can anyone recommend any professional course instructors in the Louisville area?
Thanks very much,
-Brian Campbell

Flash Books/courses
Hello Flash Kit community. I have taken two different Flash classes, that didn't really teach me anything "advanced" (i.e, ActionScript.) Does any one out there know of any instructor type, hands on training in ActionScript? If not can you point me in the direction of some worth while books; I'm finishing up "Flash 5: Training From The Source" and Sams ActionScripting in Flash now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Structured Courses For Actionscript
I can use Flash, have Flash 5, and have some basic knowledge of Actionscript. But thats it. I look at some of the scripting done on the movies i have looked at and it foxes me completely.
I'd like to learn more, and in a structured manner, rather than just looking at other peoples work and pulling it apart to see how it works.
Is there an online structured course i could do?
Online Training Courses
Hi, there
any of you here know any site which offers good advanced flash actionscript courses online. I dont mind putting out some money if the courses are really that worth.
Interactive Courses In Flash
Hi. I need help.
I'm a graphic designer for a reasonable size company (see www.bariatricsupportcenter.com). We have a large client base in the Rocky Mountain area, and are gradually expanding into international territory. As a result, our in-house classes are no longer sufficient, and we need to put our classes on the web. I have been put in charge of that task. I don't think I've ever even finished an online course, much less have any training in creating them. "They" want it done in Flash, where I have very little experience. (Go to the previously mentioned site and see the animated .gifs. That's how much experience and knowledge I have.)
So, the big question is, what is the best and/or fastest way to learn how to do a complex project? I need to create a course where information is presented, questions are asked, and the learner can input their answers. Our website is php based, and I know that Flash can integrate with php databases (that would be our programmer's job, not mine), but I need to know how to do it.
I realize this isn't an overnight project, nor something that can be completely answered here on this site. Help, yes, but complete training? Anyway, I'm just looking for suggestions, guidance, and direction.
Thanks!
Jon
Know Any Good Beginner Courses?
...in the SF Bay Area, preferably Silicon Valley area.
Online courses are fine, too
Would you recommend doing tutorials/lessons/etc before committing to an actual training course?
THANKS!!!!! Any feedback appreciated!!
Where Do You Find College Courses For AS3?
Hi,
I've been looking all day for colleges offering courses in Actionscript 3, and have not been able to find any in the New York area so far. I've checked with Rutgers, SVA, NYU, and many more, and the best they can offer is basic actionscripting prior to version 3.
Does anyone know where to go for these courses? It's almost like it's so new (and demand is so high) that they don't exist, and all flash developers are forced to learn Flash and AS3 on their own. If only there were a website to help those people out...
Flash/Actionscript Courses
Hi all,
I'm not entirely sure where to post this so I thought I'd try here...
My company are offering to pay for training courses for Flash/AS, and I was wondering whether there were any courses out there that anyone could recommend? I am based in London and I would say I am perhaps at an intermediate level in terms of actionscript. I have seen a few courses out there however I thought I'd ask if there were any top class courses I should know about...
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Flash Online Courses
I'm interested in taking an online course. Which company/school is most reputable?
Flash Training Courses
I was just wondering whether anybody could recommend a particular course/company for Flash training.

Online Flash Courses
Is it just me, or have you had trouble with online courses?
Who and why?
Here's my beef.
ITCATMEDIA do an online FLASH courses, in which they have failed to deliver any customer satisfaction what so ever.
To start with it took the company over 2 months after they received my cheque to get me logged onto the courses, the only reason I did get on the courses was because I called them 3 times to ask if they had received my cheque, considering that this company is in Hong Kong it's not a cheap phone call either.
Whilst doing the courses I didn't get any personal tuition from the so called teachers, a general example of the teachers giving advice is " I'll get back to you on that question" in which they never do...
Though I admit from the courses I managed to do and complete I did learn a number of things, and yes ITCatMedia web page is quality, but on saying that they are good at producing flash web pages, but crap at every thing else.
I booked myself onto the whole package, I was never able to finish the last 4 courses because in my opinion they do not exist, and when I asked why I cannot access these courses I got fob off by the person I contacted about the problem.
I sent emails and ICQ messages and waited for over 2 weeks for a reply to my emails, I got really pissed off and sent emails/ICQ messages again, until I managed to get a reply, from someone, they never give out a name when they contact you, I was mad especially because I got fob off again I came to the conclusion these 4 courses cannot be accessed because they are not there.
Basically I ended up threatening them to either give me access to the last 4 courses or give me my money back or I would put up a web page telling everyone in the internet community how **** they are.
I got a reply straight away; telling me they would send me my money back, to date this has not been received, this company hasn't heard of the word compassion either, for the time I have wasted and for the frustration this company has caused, as none was offered when I received their reply.
ITCATMEDIA customer services stink in a big way and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
They have wasted my time with chasing after them on too many occasions, they never reply to emails unless you threaten them.
Another example of their customer services
You never get a answer from the teachers, when you send in a piece of work to be mark, and you are supposed to wait until they have marked your course work, before starting the next course, this doesn't work cause they never marked my work unless I sent them a mail asking it to be mark, in which I had to send another mail threatening them to mark my work.
In the end you give up asking them to mark your work, you end up doing it and sending it after you have completed 3 or 4 courses so that they can mark your work all together.
Have you done any online courses?
Did they piss you off and why?
Are Online courses worth doing?

Flash MX Learning, Books And Courses...
Hi there, this isnt much of a techincal post,
I just need some opinions, and such...
A bit about me: (bear with me) I finnaly entered college, I was always intrested in online design, flash and graphics, but none of the schools here offered a New Media Arts major (or such), here in Hawaii. So I settled for Diplomacy and Military Studies major, but my passion for graphics has never subsided....
Now I was learning Flash, action script and other graphic programs on my own but all my knowledge is un orgonized... So i figure I should either
(a) take some online courses, get some certification or something.. Did anyone ever do this? Can someone recommend this or not?
(b) Just buy a bunch of books, read em and do it on my own? .... Anyone know any good books or such?
---Any other Ideas?
Thanks Sam...

Looking For Intensive Flash Courses (not Online Variety)
I was wondering if anyone knew of a month long course or something along those lines that was quite intensive in the Austin, TX area that I could take to get into the new flash products and to really get good at this.
I loved working with flash back in the day but haven't really touched it since the third version, needless to say i bought Studio MX and it's pretty crazy in terms of the differences. I don't need it to be a total newb course (but if it is that is fine as long as it progressess to the most advanced levels) I just want something that will teach it to me really well.
Again in the Austin, TX area and preferably more than a 2 day course, somehow those just don't seem like they would cut it to me.
Thanks
Can You Recommend Any Good Beginner Courses In The Bay Area?
Hello,
I am the newest newbie to Flash.
I've opened the program once or twice, but thats about it... I plan on doing my "homework" first: completing the beginner lesson & online tutorial, playing around with the software, & reading up in online discussions before I start classes.
My questions are:
1. What are the best courses in the SF Bay Area? Preferably one which offers advanced levels as well. Silicon Valley area is best.
2. Do you recommend regular courses vs. online?
* I am currently looking at the UC Santa Cruz Extension Program in Cupertino. If you've taken it or heard of it, please let me know your thoughts
3. What is the best, easy-to-understand comprehensive beginner guide book to Flash? I've seen Colin Moocks posted several times.
FINALLY and most importantly, am I going about this the right way? Are these the steps I should take to successfully learn Flash???
Looking forward to any response!!!
Thanks.
Flash 8 Training - Other Classes Or Online Courses?
First of all I will say that gotoandlearn has been the best resource for me to learn from.
I'm one of the people without a programming background and understand what is being talked about when going through a tutorial (in ActionScript) but creating it from scratch on my own is something totally different. So, to cover that missing area I'm looking for classes or online courses that might fill in the blanks. I've contacted local training companies and they don't offer Flash 8 in class training yet so I'm looking online or might be willing to travel to learn...
Can anyone recommend a place that they have had a great experience from?

Building Web Based Training Courses...Software Question
I am working with a team of people to develop Web Based Training Courses. I am the only person that knows flash. We are wanting to start making our training entirely in a Flash interface. Is there a software out there for creating Web Based Training that renders in Flash? Please let me know of any that you can think of so I can show them to the team. Thanks!
