been using a PIV , the animation is v smooth and perfect on my PC but

when I am using it on some other low end PC (even a P III) the

Letting Flash Pre-loader Determine Connection Speed And Select Appropriate Movie?
Is it possible to have a preloader determine the connection speed and then load different swf if it's dial-up or broadband?

Somehow have the preloader check how much of a movie has been downloaded after a predetermined amount of time. If at that point download is < 50%, a much smaller swf should be loaded.

Movie Speed
I am wondering how to set the speed a movie clip moves when I am using the getProperty function.
I set the x properties but I want to be able to control the speed that the MC moves left to right and righ to left.
The MC is controlled by the mouse moving to the right or the left.
Where do I define the speed? In the getProperty? or setProperty?
Not sure if this is the correct way to explain, but need help.

For what reason or purpose does one increase the Movie Speed? The default is 12 fps, why or when should I increase it to i.e. 30 fps?

Is it normal for different computers to play flash movies at different speeds? I tested a movie on a Pentium 4 computer as well as a Power Mac G4, and the Pentium plays the movie a lot faster. How can I get some kind of consistency? Since right now, one or the other looks wierd.

My question is about realizing that the actual playback time of my flash movie varies from system to system (RAM, processor speed and such).. so, the 'Frames Per Second' setting seems somewhat subjective regarding playback speed. Is there a way to set the actual playback time so that across the board it will be the same?

IÂ´ve notice that browsers slow down notoriously speed in movies when you work with increased frames per seconds...

Flash player works fine, but internet explorer slows the speed rate.

However, you can see a thousand web sites extremely accelerated over there...

Is there any script to control this matter ?

I have a PC with a Pent4 2GHz and 512 RAM WinXP on a 56K
My collegue has a MAC OS10.3.3 with 1.25 GHz & 768 RAM on a cable connection.
My question is why does the Flash movie on our site: http://sarahsfabrics.com
play twice as fast on my computer as it does on hers.
Other Flash sites that we have looked at run at the same speed on our computers.
Is there a reason for this?

Streaming Audio Speed No Good - Depends On Processor Or Internet Connection Speed?
we are launching a narrated, streaming flash 6.0 presentation for a client. frame rate is 20fps. here is the link:

"I do not know who else this may be happening with, but when Marjorie Sanders (OC) opened to take the tour, it loaded the software (not sure why her machine didn't have it), and the video was the size of a postcard, Kathleen sounded like a little child (almost munchkin like) and was going 100 mph (so very, very fast - almost unintelligible). Can we experiment with it. Could it be because of the download - I would hope that people don't receive it that way or they will end up laughing at it (it is almost silly)."

does the streaming sync depend on the internet connection or the processor speed? i am assuming processor, and that on a kick-butt new machine it will stream faster then on a slower one.

i think the only way to counter for this is to go in and add some more frames in the narration between phrases. we don't want to lower the framerate because it will affect the flow of the tweens.

any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Im loading an animating logo dynamically into a site. The animation works in normal speed if i access it directly:

I would like to have a movie clip play inside my movie and have it play in a loop very fast and then generally slow down until it stops. Sort of like one of those big wheels at a carnival. Is there anyway to achieve this other then doing it manually?

I have been able to put together a simple movie, but am unable to control the actual speed of the movie-it seems to rush across the screen - if I change the frame rate, other parts of the movie look too fast, while it crosses the screen relatively slower. Is this an action script problem or have I missed something in the user's guide?

Increasing Movie Speed
Hello,

I've written a simple movie that morphs between two faces:

but it is very slow.

It works by duplicating the same simple movie of a green circle several times. The diameter of each circle is read from an array of start values.

There is then a simple loop. During each loop the scale of each circle movie clip is changed slightly towards a value from a second array of finish values.

It takes 10 loops for the transformation to be complete.

Each loop involves going through each circle in turn and adjusting the xscale and yscale. As there are 2700 circles, this takes quite a while.

Any ideas as to how to decrease the delay?

I've tried putting the code in the individual circle movies and referencing the necesary values from there. Sadly, this number of movies, all trying to do calculations at once, crashed my machine.

I've also tried making the circle movie a clip whereby the circle has a diameter of 0.1 on frame 1 tweening upto a value of 10 on frame 100. the size is then controlled by sending the movieclip to a specific frame rather than by resizing the movie. This also didn't work.

Any other ideas? I like the effect but it is useless to me, running at this speed. Changing the frame rate hasn't helped as it is the calculation time that is the limiting factor.

I am creating an atomic collision simulator in Flash. Essentially I have a number of balls bouncing around in a container. I want to add a slider bar so that the user can speed up or slow down the speed of all the balls (which have different initial speeds via random variable). Any ideas on how to do this?

Hi,

As i have got into some problems , pls help me.

I was trying to controll the speed of movie clip depending on the mouse pressed at the same time i was just showing a progress bar for speed , my problem is once i set the speed and click on play the , my speed getting set to porgress bar (MC name is bar ) instead of my other movie clip (called ball).

I think iam doing some mistake, so pls have look at this fla and reply me soon..(the credit for this code in this fla file goes to pellepiano who helped me doing this..)

Im new to animating in flash, and Im currently building a straight forward animation. not interactive.

my questios is:

it will be running at 1024/768 and will mainly be vector. how can i be sure that it runs smoothly and doesnt loose time with the audio.

I take it a faster machine will cope better. It will be ran from file/cd not web so thats not a problem.

By unloading unused mc from the stage will this help? or is this done automatically. ie if no longer in tmieline.

any tips out there i should know.

Changing Speed In A Movie
from flash kit I downloaded a very nice movie which makes it possible to play it forewards and backwards, ideal for a photo show I thougt.
However recently I saw on the burberry site www.burberry.com/UK/Home/main.shtml
a similiar slide show, but with the difference that the movie on this site has a verry classy slowdown between the photo's. If have included the "backwards" movie I alreaddy had so you can see the difference, can someone help me with the code which is needed for sush a slowdown?? I would be a great help

If i have a movie clip in a flash document, and want to control the speed of the movie clip with reference to the position of the mouse on it. So if you move your mouse to the left the movie starts playing left and if u move it to the right than vice versa.

there are about 10 words and i dont want a timeline like 800 frames long to keep speed low on each word scroll!

is there a way i can use the least amount of frames possible and still have the words scroll smoothly and somewhat slow across the movie?

Also, check out the text which loads up in the company profile or product range and see how blurry it is because of anti-aliasing.. can i turn it off some way?? i don't need that.. the text is really bad with anti-aliasing!

Movie Speed Transition
Hi, can anyone tell me how to alter the movie/tween speed from a fast transition to a slow/stop without using key frames? A good example of the effect I am trying to achieve is on this site: http://www.de-construct.com/

The text moves in to a slow/stop and is really smooth then moves back out again. Is this an action script or can i achieve this through motion tween?

Sorry if this isn't a very good explanation. Probably a better way of explaining: If I wanted a car to appear from the left of the screen and slowly come to a smooth stop in the middle. Thats probably an better explanation!

i have a main movie with a movie(symbol) in it.. and i want that symbol to be playin at 20 fps while the main movie plays at 12 fps.

And this would be like 10000 h work to change the main movie to 20 fps.

I am struck up with movie speed control from panel. It is like volue control though but don't know how it applies on movie speed contol.

The requirement is : user need to have control of speed control so that he can speed up the viewing of particuler moive. although i guess it's like volume control where user can increase or decrease the volume in same manner user should change the spped of movie here.

i dont know if its possible, but i was wondering if you could up the framed to lets say 120 fps just a movie clip, the rest of the movie would still be 12 fps.

I finally resolved my problem with preloader but now if my preloader is executed my whole movie gets very slow.
If my preloader does not run through the whole countinhg than my movie runs fine.

Hi, I have this problem: when I see my movie with standalone player, this run right, but when I see it with a browser, it runs incredibly slow.
This happens both with IE and Netscape (last version of player).

The movie is 40 fps.

Movie Clip Speed
I'm creating a interactive map in Flash mx but i'm having problems with the speed of the movie clips im using. the movie clips are simple animations of no more than 5 frames with a simple tween in it.
however, for example if one movie clip instance is used that instance runs at normal speed, but if i add 3 more movie clips the speed of all the movie clip slows down.
is there any way to prevent this from happening?

that's.. there would be a possibility to control the speed of the keyframes or the velocity on a movie with a control panel or for example: as the fast forward in videos.... d u know what i mean ? i dont mean to modify the velocity in the properties i meant to control it while u see the scene ... ... i've never seen something like that.... someone got any idea or someone has viewed something just like that ..

Help-my Movie Wont Run At A Constant Speed
Hi all
I am a very newbie user.
I have made a movie which consists of about 18 jpegs
i have put each one on a layer and have used the advanced effect to make them appear as if they are merging one into the other.
the movie size is around 550k and lasts around 15 seconds

the frames per sec is 12.

When i save as a swf the movie will not run consistantly and keeps staggering.

I have looked at actions and asked it to pre load but it does not make any difference.

If i test the movie it shows that each image is above the red line when streaming and waiting to load but i am using as a stand alone player-not as a web application.

Can anyone help?

Frame Rate/movie Speed?
I'm sure there's a simple answer to this. I have my movie set at 55 fps. Now, when I test inside MX, there's no prooblem. Plays like a dream. But when I test it outside of flash, like in an HTML document or by itself like an swf, its VERY slow..and I can't figure out why.
