Flash :: Buy Book? Or Use Web?

Which Book EXacTLy?
Im seriously getting into the scripting side of flash, but want a good.. no great recommendation for a book. I don't want just the good pictures and easy to copy codes, but something that will TEACH me about actionscripting so that i can design my own unique ideas. Help much appreciated!

To Book Or Not To Book
Lo everyone,

I am, as most people on this forum, an absolute complete newbie. I'm 16 years old, and I really want to learn Flash well, for various reasons. Now my problem is the following:

I've been experimenting with Flash a lot lately, but now I really want to learn it the right way. I saw a book in the store, which is just out (Flash 5 Grand Cru if anyone has it, it's in Dutch). Now I was wondering whether it is worth to buy that book or not. I have no problem with paying for it, but would it be worth it, or is there more then enough reading for newbies on the Internet. I did search for tutorials on the Internet, but never did I find one which builded up from the start to the end. They always specify a different aspect of the program.

Now, what should I do? Do notice that that book is in my native language, Dutch, and althought I do not have much problems with writing and reading English, maybe Dutch would be better.

Please give me your honorable advice.

Must Have This Book.
If you are a Flash user and you want to build games or just learn actionscript, then "Flash 5 ActionScript for Fun and Games" is definitely the book for you. I knew little about ActionScript before, then I bought this book and I've learned a ton of valuable stuff and I'm not even done with the book. "Flash 5 ActionScript for Fun and Games" is a must-have.

(P.S. This book assumes that you have basic skills in the drawing and animating areas of Flash, because it is mainly a book about ActionScript)

Book Help Please
Ok I was going to put off buying an OOP flash book until I had got FMX2004 and could use the experience to get into AS2 as well.
But the chances are I'm not getting FMX2004 until april or so, and my need to sort my OOP, logic, ordering, etc. has become a little more pressing.
So, my question is, what is the best Flash OOP book to get my hands on?

Is AS2 Different Enough Not To Buy This Book?

This looks very interesting to me because of the data heavy projects i've been working on, but I don't want to have to re-learn a bunch of techniques when i start using flash 2004 (boss will upgrade soon...i hope)

2.) I am looking for OOP book and Flash.. I want to try and extend my skill set.. I dont really use external class files..and think is should be my next step.. I want somethign EASY.. and fun to read.

I saw a Friends of Ed book that looked ok.. however having purchased their PHP for FLASH book... is was PURE 'KAKA'.. (bad examples. revisions on the book, numerous times...etc)

so I was leary abotu getting this one. I DO NOT WANT SOMETHING SO ADVANACED IT DOESNT GET USED!

The book shoudl assume I dont know JACK abotu classes and OOP.. I want SIMPLE lessons.. that can build.

The best book I have ever read is the Colin Moock Definitve Guide (for AS).. I simply LOVE IT.. and it geared me towards how to read the livedocs..and better coding in general.

I liek simple small lessons plans ..and somethign you dont loose motivation in cause it SOOOOOOO long/boring..

that being said..any OOP books you guys recommend?

I am making a Flash for my end of the year project. We wrote a story about water availability and now I'm making it into an interactive book.
Here is the basic layout:

Right now, I'm trying to figure out something about the pages.
I want to have a small box that is around the page number you're on, but I don't know how or what I need to do.
I know how to do something like that if it's just going from one page to the next, but some people might want to go to a certain page that they left off at. So I'm guessing you would need action script or something.
Any help would be appreciated.
I might come back in this thread if I need help with anything else.

I'm looking for an excellent book for actionscripting 2.0. My skills are pretty poor in AS and i'm in urgent need to learn more about it. The purpose is to create better websites with more interactivity and animation with AS. I'm not interested in creating games. Does someone know a good book to start with, which contains nice examples to play with and explains the code in a short and simple way. I really hate books that need 5 pages to explain a few lines of code.

I don't know if this is the place to ask, if not, please tell me.
Anyhow, I'm going to by a Flash book. But I can't decide on which one.
Either Flash MX 2004 Bible or Flash MX 2004 Actionscript Bible.
The reason I'm buying it is because I want to learn actionscript.
I don't have any knowledge in AS as it is now, but I know the basics and perhaps a little more in Flash otherwise. I can read and understand simple code, but I can't write it. Except I know HTML and CSS.

So my question is:
Is it wise for me to buy the AS Bible? Is it friendly towards n00bs like me, or should I pick the ordinary Bible? And please tell me why you think...what you think.
