Can Flash Apps Save Out Swf Files?
I want to create a flash application that helps the user generate an swf file when they are done. Is this even possible?

Interaction From External Apps To Flash Apps
The Flash Remoting MX documentation describes how a Flash application can call an external application service (i.e. a method of a Java module). It seems that Flash Remoting application structure allows only interaction from Flash apps to external Application Servers.
Anyone knows if it is possible to share data (in a synchronous manner) between Flash and another external application, or to raise an event/invoke a method on a Flash application from an external app?

How can I open say, an excel file from a button within a flash projector. I'm working on a mac but the final product will be on an autorun cd for windows.

What can I use to save files to the OS using flash so that I can come back and use it later and my previous work will be there? I've heard that Java might work. The thing is that I don't want the internet to be involved. I want this to be an application. If you have any ideas pleas let me know.

Can A Flash Player Save Files?
Is it possible to make a .swf file save/export files of differrent types? Say for example, I wanted to make a Flash player that was a simple html editor. Could I make it save files in .html format? What about graphics? If I invented a swf player that people use to draw pictures, could I have it save as .tif or .jpg files?

1) save the scene as a pic to their computer then submit to the teacher
or..
2) submit the scene as a pic file to a remote location directly
Are either (or both) of these options possible? If so, how?

i want to make application which need to save data in XML. The same application will run without any IIS so i cant use any asp file. anybody can suggest for same. I can read fields from XmL file, But i cant save fields in XML. pls anybody knows reply ASAP.

I can´t open some files attached to some posts.
This happens cause I got Flash MX and the files
attached have been saved as Flash MX 2004 documents.
Please save your files as Flash 5 or Flash MX documents
so other members can view them in case they got former
versions of Flash.
This, of course, do not apply when you´re using actions
unavailable in those older versions.

Does Flash Save Images To Temporary Files?
Hi guys
I am just wondering, if my flash application loads an image dynamically at one stage of the movie and then the user comes back to that image later on, will flash actually download the image again or will it use a saved copy in the temporary internet files?
If it does not do this automatically, does anyone know any good ways to do this?

How Do I Save Data To Text Files (Flash & AS3)
I'm working in AS3 using Flash CS3 in the Mac OSX Leopard environment and would like to save data, to be later retrieved, in text files (probably xml). The data will be the result of the user interaction with the swf and the ideal location will be the directory (local or website) in which the swf file is located. I know I could achieve the same effect using a database backend but want to make the swf file more portable, and don't really want to dedicate a database to this function.
I've read a bundle of website comments on this but none seem to tidily do what I want, and I am not a whole lot wiser on the subject.
The data will be user details and variables (e.g. scores) to carryover to when the user next accesses the game.
What are my options (FileReference.save, SharedObjects, URLLoader, other ), and what is best?

Is It Possible To Save A Batch Of Flash 8 Files As Flash 2004
I have the pretty arduous task of saving off hundreds of flash files as an older version. I wondered if anyone knew if it was possible to do this to multiple files rather than me having to go through them one by one.

New Instance Button Doesn't Work, No Apps Listed, But Apps Work
In my admin panel if I click on the New Instance button it doesn't do anything. I've seen other posts about this and they all end up being caused by people having no applications to load, but that's not the case here. My apps are installed and they work fine, but the new instance button doesn't list them and they don't show up in the applications list of the admin panel, even when they're running.
This has to be something pretty simple, but I'm not having any luck figuring it out. Any ideas?
Can Flash 8 Be Set To Save All Files As Flash 7 Without Complaint?
I have Flash 8 Pro, but I want to save and publish everything to be compatible with Flash 7 (MX 2004).
Is there a way to have Flash NOT complain everytime I save a .FLA and tell me that I have to use Save As... ?
It's really irritating (probably intentional, to get authors to push Flash 8...)

Hello, Powerpoint is horrible. Flash rules!
However sometimes my company doesn't give me a choice.
It seems like a lot of corporations love Powerpoint.
Anyway, I wanted to insert an entire Flash file into
Powerpoint. I managed to do that. Only it showed up
as an icon to click on the Flash file. Is there any
way I can have the ppt file play the Flash as soon as
I start a slide show. Powerpoint's animation is horrible.
Flash is so much more sophisticated.

Too Many Flash Apps?

I’m working on a form that includes a small flash program that allows users to rate the current item in a list. The list is dynamically generated based upon items that users have selected to add to their lists. However the problem is that some of my users have over 700 items in their lists and therefore would have over 700 occurrences of that flash program on their pages. I'm afraid that this would be too much for the users computers to handle. However I've considered breaking up the list into multiple pages but because the list is a form (there are other properties of each item users can change) I’m afraid it might be more confusing for them if the page is broken up.
My first thought would be that this is way too many apps but on second thought I was wondering if flash would recognize that they are the same and therefore only have one copy of.
Would having over 700 copies of the same flash app. on one page for some users be too much for them to handle? Or am I just making a big deal out of nothing?

How can i edit a txt file from a swf file on my server...
What i want to do is change the value of a variable on a users click in the txt file through an swf file.. can i do it without using any php or something..if i cant then please give me a file for doing this.. thnx.

i want to be able to have a button which when clicked allows the user to save a file (an .exe file not actually embedded in the flash movie) to their hard disk, similar to as if they'd done a 'save target as' in an HTML document

Save Files Off A CD
I am working on a project that has a gallery of images. The client wants users to be able to save the images to their hard drive. Thing is, this is going out on a CD, so it needs to be able to save files from a folder on the CD. There are also a couple of EXE files that they want to be able to "download". I'm pretty clueless with programming. Can someone give me a quick way of setting up buttons and stuff to do this in AS 2.0?
Resixing Flash Apps.
I would like to know a command that could resize my flash application, because I must resize the window manually by dragging the frame of that window, and I also must use the zoom in thing in the options of my fla(when I run it).
Are there commands that could do the above, but leaving my fla centered too?

Automation Of Flash Apps?
I apologize if this is not the right forum for this, but I'm a little overwhelmed by all of the tools and add-ons available.
I've built a Flash menu that customers within my organization love - now they want more. Instead of building each one as a one-off and then maintain all of them, I'd like to build an app that would let them customize it to their needs, publish it, and make changes as desired.
My first plan was to just make the menu SWF read the content from an XML file, then build an app that would allow them to add/edit/delete objects and read/write the XML (so they don't hose up the XML file) ... but they'll want to change the background images etc. I guess I could have the paths to those images in the XML, but I wondered if there was another way. Maybe the UI could also make changes to the FLA and publish a new SWF?
Is there a way (JSFL?) to build a template FLA, and provide a UI which would set values programmatically, and publish the results?

Cannot Publish AIR Apps In Flash Cs3
Hi,
Today I decided to install the extension to create Adobe AIR applications in Flash.
I downloaded the extension with no problems; I started creating a simple hello world application but when I tried to publish it, nothing did happen I see the loading bar (publishing bar) starting but then it disappears immediately it seems that it is creating the .swf file and some other files but it doesn't show me a preview when publishing.
No problem when I try to publish regular .fla files.
These are my Publish Settings:
Formats tab – flash and html are checked.
Flash tab - Version (Adobe AIR 1.0)
Html tab – Template (Flash Only)
I know this is something I probably shouldn’t be posting on this forum but I need help.
Any idea?

Developing Flash Apps On Mac Or PC?
I've heard that Flash performs better (faster) on a PC, but I am a mac user. Sometimes Flash 8 will quit unexpectedly while running on my powerbook. I was just wondering if anyone has had any know problems running Flash 8 on a mac.

Grant Skinner released an extension that allows testing and publication to an AIR file using Flash CS3. It's super easy to use, just be sure to read the 'installation' AND 'how to use' instructions carefully.
