Changing Swf Source Flv File Using Javascript
I am using the stock progressive flv flash player that dreamweaver gives me. All works great. But now I am trying to change the flv file that gets played through javascript and I am getting nowhere. I can make the swf control invisible and get the number of frames using javascript but cannot change the source flv file. Anyone know how this can be done?

What Frame Rate Should You Build Your Flash File At?
Every second of video has 30 frames. But Flash animations can be done at any frame rate, which raises a couple of important questions:what frame rate should you work at, and second, if you choose to work at a rate other than 30 frames per second (fps), how do you convert to 30 fps? I deal with the question of frame rate conversion below.

You can create a Flash movie at 30 fps. But if is going to be played back on a computer, a 30 fps .swf file will generally produce unacceptably high data rates, unless the image is very small and simple, or the computer it is playing on is very fast. It can also create a lot of extra animation work if you want to draw in-betweens for all 30 frames. Fortunately, there is no need to build your Flash movie at 30 fps, even if you are planning to transfer it to video.

I usually build animation that needs to work on the web or video at 12 fps. This gives us a good balance of lower data rates and smoother animation. When creating cartoon style animation, it also keeps our work consistent with the majority of broadcast animation. While some high end cel animation is done at 24 frames per second (the rate that film is projected at), much broadcast animation is created at 12 fps. This is because it is drawn on "2's." In other words, each image holds for 2 frames. Do the math and it becomes clear why--half the amount of frames to draw each second. While Disney and Dreamworks may have virtually unlimited budgets to create their epic animations, most broadcast (and even more so, Internet) productions are on very tight budgets. But even the big studios do a lot of character animation on 2's. It looks good that way, so why create twice the work?

If we are using flash to build a cartoon solely aimed at broadcast or film, however, we build it at 24 fps. That way we can animate on 2's for most of the character animation, but do animate on 1's for segments or particular motions that require smoother animation.

If we are using Flash to build graphics for broadcast use only, and so won't be hand drawing in betweens, we usually build the file at 30 fps. This will give us the smoothest motion, and data rate won't be an issue for you. It is also possible to even build it at 60 fps, and convert this to a 30 fps video with fields
In the end, you can decide to build it at any rate you want. The lower the rate, the smaller the file size, data rate and number of frames to animate, but the less smooth the animation. Conversely, the higher the frame rate, the higher the file size, data rate and number of frames to animate, but with smoother animation.
now I use FLASH VIDEO MX PRO to covnert Video in multiple formats to FLV or SWF, I set the frame size just as above, I always get soomth Flash
at the meantime, I have to set video rate when I use FLV To Video Convert Pro to play the video in my iPod, if you set the wrong frame rate, your iPod and other devices may not support the frame rate

Shockwave File Bigger Than The Flash File Errror
Hello out there,

I have a bizarre problem that I've never encountered before in Flash:

my Flash movie is actually *smaller* than the Shockwave file when I publish!

Anyone ever had this problem before??

when I use Moyea SWF to Video Converter, FLV to Video Converter Pro. I always choose the proper flash to convert, so I can always get good quality video to put on my Zune, PSP, Apple TV......
If you want to get good quality, you should choose flash according to your device

Calling Javascript From Swf (which Is Source File Of Frame) - Problems With OPERA
hey,

right now i have the swf-file as the source file for a frame,
because i want the swf-width depend on the browser-size.
it looks kinda like this:

<frameset cols="10,*,10">
<frame src="border.htm" name="leftFrame">
<frame src="file.swf" name="mainFrame">
<frame src="border.htm" name="rightFrame">
</frameset>

from the swf i call a javascript-code that is located in the 'border.htm'
file.
the javascript simply opens a popup window.

function open_popup() {
MM_openBrWindow('popup.htm','pop','toolbar=no,location=no,status=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,width=400,height=500');}everything works fine ine firefox, ie, netscape (at least in another tab),but when it comes to the opera browser (and apparently also safari)i don't get any reaction at all ...i told opera to allow popup-windows, so that shouldnt be the reason.now i am thinking maybe some browsers have a problem with callingjavascripts from within swfs that are not located in that specifichtml-file?maybe some of you encountered the same problem ...would be grateful for any advices ...thanx,eva

Frame Rate Changing
I have a movie clip on my scene, that scrolls text/images. It's a little lengthy, but not too bad. My FPS for the entire movie is 24. However, when this movie clip starts playing, the frame rate starts jumping to 4.9-5.5, and scrolls half of what I want and then jumps to the end. What happened here and how can I fix it?

Changing Frame Rate
Hi,

Is there a function to change the frame rate of a MovieClip?
Something like: _root.movieclip._frameRate = 30

Thanks.

Changing Frame Rate
Stupid question here. I created an animation at 12 fps. It is many keyframes and running too slow. I increased the frame rate to 36 fps, obviously 3x the normal speed. Is there a way to change frame rate using scripting so my externally loading swf(12 fps) will play out how it should. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Changing Frame Rate
Hi,

Is there a way to change the framerate during a movie via actionscript?

I've created a movie at 18fps and I've just been given another movie that needs to be incorperated but runs best at 30fps. I don;t really want to go and redo the work done so far so was hoping to alter the fremrate on the fly.

Any ideas?

Changing Frame Rate
I know this issue was already discussed many times (setInterval, streaming sound etc), but I bumped into this code in the AS help about changing the frame rate of a document while playing:

------------------------------------------------------------------
document.frameRate
Availability
Flash MX 2004.

Usage
document.frameRate

Description
Property; a float value that specifies the number of frames displayed per second when the SWF file plays; the default is 12. This is the same functionality as setting the frame rate in the Document properties dialog box (Modify > Document).

Example
The following example sets the frame rate to 25.5 frames per second:

fl.getDocumentDOM().frameRate = 25.5;
------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone can explain how this should work ??

Thnx.

Changing Frame Rate
I have a Flash source file with a frame rate of 60. I want to change to frame rate to 24 or 30. I am wondering if there is a way to automate this so that I won't have to adjust the keyframes on the whole timeline when I change the rate. There has to be an easier way to do this.

Any suggestions?

Changing The Frame Rate
Hello...this is probably a simple answer, but is there a way I can change the frame rate for a specific range of cells in a Flash project I am creating? I have an animation already put together, and the person I'm creating this Flash file for would like this part of the animation slowed down.

Changing Frame Rate
I'm new to flash and just designed my first banner. I made the mistake of making the banner using a frame rate of 12. Now when I up it to 20, the timing is all off, and text is moving to quickly.

My question is, is there an easy way to adjust all the keyframes to compensate for the new speed? Or do I have to adjust each layer by itself? Also will there be an increase in file size? Thanks.

Changing Frame Rate During Runtime

Frame Rate Changing Implicitly
Hello,

This is a strange kind of problem i've ever seen while developing a flash application. This interactive movie is of 2 min, now while in the start of the movie (during the intro), the frame rate of the movie suddenly start decreasing (up to 1.5 fps) ... with the regular intervals, and ultimately my movie goes Tortoise slow ........ (It all happens in the middle, (unfortunately)) ............
Could please someone help me in this regard .........

Dynamically Changing Frame Rate
Hey,
Is there a way of dynamically changing the frame rate of a project thought actionscript, or dose anyone know any tricks to have different mcs run at different frame rates.

I have a presentation running at 32fps but it showcases a dozen other flash projects done over a couple of years all of which have different frame rates. So when I load in an old 12 fps project into the presentation it runs far too fast. Any suggestions of how to avoid this? I thought of throwing a popup to display the older project out side at its own frame rate, but I can’t figure out how I can through a popup from an exe (project is being delivered on a cd) without getting a full browser window around it.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

PC Exe File Needs Shockwave 6?
I've discovered there is a problem when I export the Flash movie as an PC exe file. On some computers/laptops the file says Shockwave 6 is needed.

Being an exe, shouldn't the file be independent of external applications? The flash document itself does not contain any avi or mov at all.

Has anyone has this problem or even solved this problem?

Changing MovieClip's Frame Rate/Speed
Glory!

I want to change the speed of a movie clip in my Flash Movie. Let's say my Flash Movie has a 12fps, which i cant change because of everything in it. But i want to have a movie clip in it which is very fast animation, how do i change the speed of this Movie Clip? Can i change it's frame rate or something.

I do see this a lot.. that little movieclips/animations are horrendously fast in speed/animation inside flash movies, but i dont know how they do it.

Any help appreciated!

Changing Frame Rate And Keeping Same Duration
I'm sure at least some of you have faced this problem. I have a huge CS3 project that I need to change from 12 fps to 24 fps without making all my tweens twice as fast (ie. keep the duration the way it is.) Does anyone know how I can do that? And if it is impossible, does anyone know a quick way to double the duration of the entire timeline without having to go to each section and F5 the additional frames?

Thanks bunches,

Changing The Source Of A Frame In A Frameset Thru Flash
I am making a web site that usees frames in html and the header and footer in flash. By using frames I am able to write html pages that sroll inbetween two swf files. for an example goto http://www.mgiauctions.com/test/frame_test.html .
I want to call the frame that holds the html document this frame is named "info" the flash document is in another frame named "footer". I could write a java script the has a function that could call the frame, but is thier an easier way?
Thank You

Changing The Frame Rate Does Not Affect The Speed Of The Movie?
I'm trying to create a rollover that involves a photo cut up into strips. Each of the fragments fades in, slightly increases (10%) in size, and then falls into place. I'm trying to play around with the speed of this effect but increasing the frame rate does not change the speed of the rollover. The movie is only 54Kb. Could anyone explain why is this happening and what is the best way around it?

Many thanks for your help!

How To Embed Shockwave File In Emai L?
Hi ! This is my first post. Ive been playing around with Swish 2 ( its sweet) and am trying to embed it into an email to send to people. I've tried using <embed...name.swf> but that only works on my computer. Ive tried exporting the swish to html, then pasting the html into the body of the email, but that just creates a black square. Needless to say Im a total noob with html (mind you I just ordered a great book which I have not got yet). Anyways, any thoughts on this please ? My aim is to send emails with animations in them.

How To Prevent Shockwave Flash File From Playing On Other Sites?
If someone REALLY wants to get to something, they can of course do it, but that shouldn't stop me from simple protection measures, should it? For example, if a thief really wants to steal your car, he can do it, but you'll still lock the doors everytime and probably even have a car alarm.

Anyway, here's what I want to do.

I want to somehow make my Flash file check to make sure that it's being played from a specific location (or domain if that's possible). If someone is trying to play the Flash file from their hard drive or from another site, I'd like it to execute: stop()

Any ideas on how I can go about doing this?

I am a newbie and English is my second language. Thank you.

Changing A Button Stage In One File From A Seperate File.
ok - here's my problem.
I had to go in and redo a flash file that my company had done by an external person.
It didn't work when it was placed onto the domino server so - they are having me rework it.

so ok- i have one file which is the "frame" so to speak with 5 buttons on it- when a button is pressed it calls or loads a seperate swf file into the current one. (ex. would be to picture a tv - thats the main file - the external files being called into it are the different channels)

now ive gotten the buttons to change when it is hit so that the user can keep track of where he's at- but the problem comes in the other external files. - in the external files ( or the channels so to speak ) there are foward and backward buttons ( < > ) to progress or go back in the presentation. once it hits the LAST frame in that movie it loads the NEXT movie - the problem im having is when the last > button is pressed and it brings in the next movie how do i make the MAIN movie that has the buttons on it change the state of the button to the down position?

Its kinda hard to explain - but the only thing i can think of is the concept of a tv.
U have ur buttons below it and buttons in the channels to go threw each presentation.
I mainly need to know how to control one thing in a swf file from another swf file.

would it deal with labeling? the frames..then using the telltarget? or what?

I can't figure it out for anything and its gettin me madddd
ughz.. so please any help i would realllly appreciate!!!!

Thanks!
