Flash 6 Conversion - NOT
Hi Guys,

I'm freshening up some old code I made and stumbled into a conversion problem (and crapness at coding). The code was from the Telltarget days and has a snippet of old school code that doesn't like the flash 7 player.

Its a fairly simple scrubber designed to control a child swf. However if I try to publish higher than flash 6 it doesn't work. Could a better coder than me take a quick look at my fla?

I've attached the fla and a swf, both need to be in the same directory to run. I'd like to get up to flash 7 so a component I'm using will work, flash 8 even better!!

Conversion To Flash 5 Problems...
I have a problem in Flash 5:

when you click a button, the flash load the first 6 pics into seperate movieclips.
After clicking the button again, Flash loads the next 6 pics into the same movieclips. And so on and so on...

I attached the .fla so you can take a look and tell me what I'm doing wrong here... becaus it seems that I'm too stupid to figure it out myself... but then, I'm blond
The pics are left out because they make the .fla too big.

Flash To Wildform Conversion Help
I set up a couple of seperate Flash files so that in frame 1 of scene 1 there contains a MC of all the content that plays in the movie.

Now i realize i would like to put these files individually into Wildform so that I can have the controll panels (play, pause, stop, etc.)

The problem is when i export the Flash file as an AVI, it only exports the first frame and doesn't play the MC that is contained in frame 1.

Could anyone help me with a solution that would include laying out the entire flash move again in the main scene? i would really appreciate it. thanks for any help in advance.

Flash Can't Add Need String Conversion Help.
I'm building a serial number validation routine for a FlashPro2004 appliction. I take a string such as:

1234-5678-9012-3456

I then do a bunch of math to see if one group of numbers calculates to equal another group of numbers. It works great in PHP, but Flash seems to think that 40 + 313 = 345, when in reality it is 353.

I'm starting to wonder if it's adding ascii codes or something.

I think the problem is in converting the string "0040" to a number and doing the addition. Here's a code snippet that has gone awry:

Who'd Want To Use This Website For Flash Conversion?
I'm not sure that any of you guys have seen it. The site is called swf2fla.biz and the site claims that it can convert SWF files to FLA format for you.

Are there any Flash developers who'd be stupid enough to use this site? The first time I looked at it, I thought the site was a scam. I still think so to this day. Besides that, if you want to convert your Flash movies, it'd be better to do it yourself, right?

Flash MX To MX 2004 Conversion
Help!

I've finally gotten this great project made and scripted after hours upon hours of research, trolling, and various combinations of scripts, and all to find out it is all in Flash MX 6.0 format!

I don't have much of an issue with this, but I just want to know:

how can I convert the file to MX 2004?

Even with the SWF exported as an ActionScript 1.0 file, it doesn't work, unless I keep it exported as an Flash 6.0 player with AS 1.0

When I try to export it as AS 1.0, none of my XML graphics show up, but with it exported as all new Flash, the output screen gives me various errors.

PowerPoint To Flash Conversion
I think that conversion of PowerPoint presentations to Flash format will be the simplest way of Flash creation for newbies. I tried doing this using different PPt to SWF conversion tools and some of them showed good results. I should say that the prices for such tools are very different and there is an absolutely free tool FlashSpring Lite. It generates Flash clips keeping all the elements of PowerPoint presentation but without animations and sound. For Flash clips with animations, music background and added external Flash objects I purchased FlashSpring Pro. I think that everyone should download FlashSpring Lite because it's really good and absolutely free!

What Is The Best Conversion For Flash Video?

I've run some tests and the video quality of these is always poor. I've tried to bring them in at the highest quality but they are still bitmapped pretty badly.

Powerpoint To Flash Conversion
I am trying to find a utility that will convert Powerpoint files to swfs in vectors and include all images. I have found a few that work for PC, but don't really know of any that work cross platform, now that Macromedia Breeze is no longer simply a conversion tool. Does anyone know of a good converter? RSS 2.0 Date To Flash Conversion
I asked this question on these forums and as.org forums and nobody replied, but i eventually figured it out myself. so what this does is convert an RSS 2.0 specified date (Sun, 28 Jun 2005 12:16:00 GMT) into the format of 6-28-05, which is what i needed. not necessarily what u may need but u can get the general idea out of it. i thought about this for a long time so im posting it in hopes of someone else getting some use of it hopefully because i couldn't find anything about this on the net when i searched at first. anyway, hope it comes useful to somebody.

note: no swf since its all just code that goes into the output panel

Flash To Video Conversion
hi,

i have a small problem while exporting my flash animation to some video format.
the setup is following:
i have a trivial animation of a symbol following the path and that moving symbol is actually an animated one - so i have something like animation inside animation
everything is ok until i use export to swf file. if i want to export it to avi, then the symbols animation is gone and i have only the path following part.

maybe somebody has some ideas which buttons or settings i must choose in order to see both?

Director -> Flash Conversion
Hi,

I've got several classic (like 1992) pieces of software built in legacy versions of Director. I'm just curious how similar or different it is from Flash, and if there's a tool out there for decompiling old director files to import into Flash.

They're early literacy programs that are long out of production, but we'd like to add some functionality to them. The authors are unavailable, and right now we use an awkward workaround.

I'd like to avoid re-creating the whole thing from the ground-up.

I know you have to change the ra, rb, (etc) values to alter the colour which you get (as in)...

...but I wondered if anyone knows a trick / way to find out the values you'd put in for (ra, rb, etc) to get a particular colour, rather than just aimlessly playing around with different values until you get the desired colour fade you want (which takes some time for me!)

A Colour Palette For Colour Matching
I'm new to actionscript and trying to creating a pretty simple colour palette which can let users to choose up to 8 different colours. First of all users will be presented with a range of different shades, and each time they choose a colour it can be saved to a movie clip, so finally they will have all 8 movie clips showing all the colours they've chosen.

The way I do is create a movie clip that contain all the colour shades in the palette in different frames. Then make 8 copies of it and give them different instance names. When the user come to select a colour then the movie clip will change to that colour, keep it, then the other colour will go to the second movie clip... and so on... I've tried different ways to simulate the saving function but it still doesn't work (one of them is using if / else statement on the button and declare different Number value on the movie clips)

Is there an application or utility to convert a WAV file to SWF format? I have looked at the SWFTools, but I don't have a C compiler since these are open source. I downloaded Sun Java's JMF2.1 JMStudio, but it doesn't have an option for SWF format that I could find.

I am having a problem converting a movie originally created to play in flash player 6 to 5. The movie is a quiz that randomly selects questions and their corresponding answers from an xml file. It will also accept a variable for the number of questions to include in the quiz. I am developing with Flash 8.
I have changed the original movie by removing all of the field text instance names, added the randomize function, added a duplicateMovie function to create the answer boxes, and added a running score box.
All of these modifications work fine when the movie is published to flash player 6, however, when published to flash player 5, I get NO action script errors, the movie loads with a question and corresponding answers, but when an answer is selected, it does nothing. I have traced the problem and I know the "answer check" function is being reached, however it will not advance the movie.
I have reached my limits on troubleshooting this problem and am looking for advice on how to either fix it or what direction I should be looking in to find the problem. I have attached the movie and xml quiz in a zip folder (the movie is 174kb when uncompressed).

Disable Code Conversion In Flash
Hello everybody

We have some legacy code in ActionScript 1 and we would like to open it in Flash 8 or CS3. When we open the file, Flash makes some automatic changes in the code, we would like to override. Does anyone know if it is possible to deactivate that automatic code conversion?

Flash Media Server Flv To 3gp Conversion
hi,
i found after goggling that it is not possible in flash with actionscript to force the Microphone/Camera/NetStream classes to use a codec of your choice.

It is, however, possible to transcode the resulting FLV from the server side to something that uses the 3GP container format and AAC for audio.

I have successfully converted flash media server flv to 3gp with AAC codec that 3gp file is playing fine but it has one major problem that is of audio video synchronization that "video comes first and then audio".

I am using ffmpeg higher version command line tool for this.

how can we do so ?

is there any solution for this problem?

HI thanks for looking in im not even a newby yet but im doing some recording for a talking book customer and they asked me to put it in flash format obviosly not wanting to appear completely ignorant in front of my boss i said yep cool no problem but the little guy inside said WHATS FLASH??
so i thought the net would help me find out

1 whats flash in simpletons terms bearing in mind i only got a short attention span like that of a smoked kipper?

XML-modified Flash To MPEG Conversion Problem
I made an advertising piece which modifies its contents based on an XML config file (simple stuff - logo, colors and text fragments are changed or loaded into the shell of a movie). Now the problem is that the final piece is too big in size to play smoothly on a slower PC, so I want to render the final cut into a movie (MPEG or FLV). How can I do it? Any utils out there? I really am at my wits end. My only option left is to write a small app to screen-scrape the flash playback. I really would rather have something that "works behind the scenes" - not a screen-scraper.

ALL AVAILABLE BRAINS, PLEASE HELP! I know this is a challenging one for you gurus out there, and someone must have already tried it and succeeded. Please let me in on your secrets.

Simple Diode Formula Conversion Into Flash ><
Greetz there! These boards have been a great asset so far-so thanks for all that

I’m working in Macromedia Flash pro 8, only been using it for only about 2 months, but several years of C++ classes, touching on Java and a little VB.

For my current project I am looking at replicating a specific machine that graphs a line(s) based on data from a diagnostic of particular circuits. This particular one is emulating a simple diode, specifically the typical I-V graph of a P-N junction diode, Forward Bias region (graph on Wikipedia diode page). The complete function goes through Quads I,II, and III on a graph plane, but for this stage I’m just doing Quadrant I (the forward bias).

I do not have the education background to really understand how or why this all works, unfortunately, and that’s making things interesting heh.

For the equation used at this stage:

Id = -Io ^ [ ( Vd / KT) -1]

Io is defined as 1.0*10^-14
K is Boltzmann’s constant: 8.67*10^-5 (electron-volt / Kelvin)
T is just room temp, C+273 = 298
Vd is the variable voltage, incrementing by 0.05 V every loop iteration

In the code I’ve broken the equation down into three sections in the loop, mainly for readability and modification/tweak ease:

This is not the desired results heh The typical loop run time is about 101 iterations, based on another calculation from user input. This section is just part of a graphing function working behind a user interface replication of an actual device, and thankfully it all works to this point.

Another example of a similar equation is from Excel (cell refrences fill in of course):
=((450 * 8.85E-14 * 3.9 / .0000008) * (2 / 0.5) * (0 - .65) ^2)
I dont know if this will help any, but I was able to replicate this as well

My first question is to see if I’m even using the Math. correctly, and then if anyone has suggestions on how to refine this? I thought I was using it correctly-but after looking at the whole again, I have to wonder if the code is doing what I was intending to do and not just what I told it to do heh.

The only real user input that will affect this equation will be the volt iteration and number of times the loop is executed. Beyond that this is a fairly static and basic equation. We don’t have any actual requirements of the code to look a certain way, so there is a lot of freedom. Comments and readability are a given, of course heh.
