Crappy Looking Rounded Corners...WHY?
Is there any way to fix the way flash renders rounded corners like on rounded rectangles? They'll look fine in authoring, but look like crap once published.

Rounded Corners
I can draw a rounded rectangle but how do i draw a rounder rectangle with say only 2 corners rounded and a border around the shape?
Untidy Rounded Corners
I am currently designing a flash demo where all the windows need to have rounded corners. I have noticed that when using the rounded corners tool in mx 2004 the results are quite poor. The corners are very untidy and jagged. Has anyone else had this problem and if so is there any way to overcome this problem? I've attached a screenshot to show what I mean.
Thanks in advance
Rounded Corners Annoy Me
My Flash movie contains a rectangle with rounded corners. Trouble is the stroke never lines up properly on the corners, no matter how careful I am. I've never seen this issue on professional Flash movies. How can I prevent this?
I attach a screenshot of the annoying rounded corner problem! If anyone can solve this problem, I would be extremely grateful!!
Jagged Rounded Corners
Ok I know the topic of jagged rounded corners has been brought up before, but for the life of me I can't figure this out. If I make a rounded rectangle, circle, what have you the rounded parts come out jagged no matter how thick I make the stroke. If I zoom in it gets clear.
So what's the deal? I'm using MX 2004.
Any help would me great.
Thanks
Rounded Corners With Border
I need to create a swf with rounded corners and a 3px border for display on a web page that has a gradient background. Therefore the corners must be transparent (rather than a solid color since that will not match the background). I have drawn the rounded corners border in my Flash file and imported images beneath it but cannot eliminate the outside corners when I create the swf. Is there a way to turn off the background color so that the outside corners are transparent in my swf? Also, the only way I have found to eliminate the outside corners from my imported images is to import gifs with transparent rounded corners. Does Flash support transparency in any other file formats since gifs are not good for photos? Thanks for any help provided.
Rounded Corners Issue
Im in a hurry, so don't give me the "please search before post"-talk. I need to draw a box with rounded corners. I can't get a hang of it. I want to draw it from the following variables:
boxwidth = 200;
boxheight = 200;
radius = 5;
How do I draw this? You should see the artwork I have (by mistake) created while trying to get it right

Rounded Corners Are Not Smooth
I am trying to make boxes with rounded corners (with a stroke).
No matter what number I set for the points, they come out blurry.
When I zoom in they are clean and smooth but at 100% they are blurry.
Does anyone else get this problem?
Scale Rounded Box - Corners Deform
Hi there,
is there a way to use SetProperty on an movieclip with a rounded bow without the corners of the bow getting deformed, meaning that the radius stays fixed ?
Only sollution I found till now is to cut the original graphic in pieces: corners vs. rest and scale these pieces and then position the corners. Of course I get blanks of like 0.5 mm.
All ideas are welcome,
Thanks,
Kurdy
Actionscript To Create Box With Rounded Corners
Is there a quick way to draw boxes with rounded corners in actionscript that mimic the ones you can make in the design interface? I haven't found a library or function to do this yet.
Using Flash MX.
Thanks!
Rounded Corners On Already Built Shape
Hi all,
I am attempting to create rounded corners on the objects pictured below.
I know you can create rounded corners by pressing the up and down key while initializing the shape of a rectangle. However, how do I accomplish this on the three objects in the picture? You can see that one is a pen object, while the other two are broken apart, what exactly does this mean besides the ability to edit them differently. Also, I can't see to close a pen line (i.e. make a circle) by clicking the two open end points, i find it hard to believe that flash doesnt allow it, and its just an error on my part.
Can't Get Rounded Corners On My Rectangle Tool To Go Away
I'm trying to get plain straight corners on a rectangel. I have been drawing a rectangle or even before drawing one, selecting the little tool in the lower left and I put in a value of 0, but as soon as I draw anything it rounds up again. How do I get rid of this problem??

Rounded Corners For Shapes In Flash? Blurry?
Here is the deal. When I create a shape in flash (a rectangle with rounded
corners a white fill with a black stroke) and convert it to a symbol (a
button) the rounded corners on it show up a little blurry and choppy in my
.fla file. How do I get rid of this because it doesn't look very
professional!

Get Rid Of Rounded Corners In Flash Flv Player Skin?
Hi,
I'm using Flash CS3 on Mac OS X creating a couple of clips. Regretfully,
the default flv player skins in CS3 all have rounded bottom corners. As
the site's entire layout is very "square", these corners are standing
out like sore thumbs.
I suspect that there has to be a parameter somewhere within the swf-file
that takes care of this, but I haven't a clue, really.
Can someone please explain how to make the corners square shaped?
TIA

Can I Have Rounded Corners On My Bitmaps Created Dynamicly?
Hello
ok a quick run down what i have managed to (learn) create
I read through a .xml file with a list of .jpg file names
Each .jpg is then loaded and drawn into a bitmap
Each bitmap has a .onPress control so (eventualy when i have learnt howto) a .html or .php will be called.
Each bitmap is placed across the screen at 45 degree angle in a brick wall style layout.
e.g.
.XXX XXX XXX XXX
. XXX XXX XXX
.XXX XXX XXX XXX
ok what i need now to learn is to give each bitmap rounded corners. Is this possible. It has taken me so long just to learn what i have so far!!!!
Many thanks for any help

Tip: Using Convert Lines To Fill For Rounded Corners
I would like to share a tip that I recently discovered from hours of head banging on the wall.
Download File: Using_Convert_Lines_to_Fills.fla
The Problem:
When using the corner radius feature to draw rounded corner squares, lets say to make a rounded corner web 2.0 button, you begin to have aliasing issues when you publish your file! The problem is more noticeable when you use a dark thin line and a lite fill color to make your square. (Refer to my example flash file). The result is small, ugly pixels around the corners of the square, that makes the rounded corner not look so round. It looks ugly and unprofessional.
The Reason:
This is an educated guess. When flash compresses the fla to a swf, the jpeg compression creates those ugly aliases. uck.
The Solution:
You could crank up your publish settings were your jpeg compression quality is 100%, but this is flash you want to have small, fast, and good looking swf files....right?! Well, select your square and then from the menu select Modify > Shape > Convert Lines to Fills. This converts all the selected lines into a fill. The result should clean up your square corners when you publish your file.
Problem solved.
Note: Since fills are harder to edit and move around this should be done towards the end of your project.
If you have any questions/comments I'd love to hear them. I would also love to make this into a tutorial. I think this would save a few head aches.
How To Make A Flash Movie Appear To Have Its Top Two Corners Rounded
Hi, I have been having this problem all day. I cant figure out how to make a flash movie appear to have its top two corners rounded instead of the standard square. It needs to fit in to my web page that has rounded corners as well, maybe there is some CSS or HTML code I can use to give the appearance of rounder corners, by hiding the square ends. Anyway ANY help on this would be GREATLY appreciated!

Rounded Corners Staying Round On Scaling Objects
Hello, I have a simple menu that consists of rounded rectangles that expand and contract to reveal content. When they scale down (From 90 px wide to 18 px) the rounded corners loose their roundness and get somewhat hard edges.
Is there a way to scale an object and still keep rounded corners round?
thanks much,

Crappy JPGs
I've been having trouble making actual pictures look good on flash. Whether it be a .jpg, .gif, .png. It always looks very jagged and poor no matter what quality I set the publishing to. I even set the sizes proportionally to what the end dimensions would be so I don't have to scale them at all in flash.
I was wondering if there are any tips or techniques to making photographs look as crisp and clear on my site as it does on my desktop.
Here's a flash site that I found that was really clear:

Animations Look Crappy

Fix My Crappy Code
Im working on setting up a photogallery for personal use. Ive figured out how to move the photos from one location to another. The problem is its takes a whole lot of code just for one photo. What I want to do is minimize the amount of code needed for each photo to go from point a to point b. Im sure theres someway to make a function that each photo could call to simplify things, But I really dont have the knowledge to do so.
If anyone could please check out the FLA file and let me know what I would have to do to simplify things that would be great!
-thanx in advance.

Crappy Movie Letter
I made a letter in photoshop with some effects and imported in flash library.
Then I made a movie instance of it and placed on the frame. The letter looks good, but if I test the movie then the quality is still good, but the rounding of a letter is not good.
A letter I made in photoshop looks good when i shrimp it by 50%
But not in flash although the letter is a png file
does somebody know how to handle the problem?
thnx alot
Can't Preload - Pictures Look Crappy
I can't have a preloader or anything before my Main Scene, or timeline. If I put anything before this, the pictures over the whole flash site look crappy, and pixelised.
Unless, I make the flash project one frame long, (where it stops;(), so that all the main information can come up), it turns my pictures into crap.
I have my flash project only one frame long now, but there is no preloading, so it's really slow in the beginning.
I have tinkered with all the publishing settings, and each individual picture properties, and these are not the problems. My pictures have to be in the first frame of the flash project, otherwise they look like shunt.
Has anybody heard, or seen this before?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Simulate Crappy Old Computer?
Anyone know of a tool that simulates an older computer? Would be so useful when developing resource-heavy flash apps to see how they run on older machines and I've yet to find anything that does this.
anyone?
ps I have tried a program called Obrut (turbo backwards, zany nerds), but it didn't seem to really work, it basically just uses all your system resources.
Thanks!
Dynamic Crappy Text

CRAPPY ATTACH MOVIE ...what The Heck
What the heck man?! I was in a bind yesterday. A customer needed the project finished yesterday. Well I was using attachmovieclip stuff, but when I would attach it, and preview, it would skew the attached movie...
This made me so mad! There were no other post about the issue. So luckily I was able to find an alternative to it. Why was this doing that???
But I want to know for future task.
Flash's Crappy Font Renderer
hey!
how come flash (and fireworks) can't render aliased fonts properly? like photoshop or any web browser can? i'm talking specifically about standard fonts like verdana and arial at small sizes. (these are used on the majority of websites out there and hence become quite important)
instead of "hello i am joao" i always have to deal with "he ll o i am j oa o". what a waste of time it is to break up my text fields into characters and manually reposition them according to rewrites imported from photoshop.
are there anybody working for adobe around, that might tell me how to fix this? or if adobe plans to fix this?

thanks a lot,

Sending Variables With IEs Crappy Work Around?
ok so we've all seen the thing on IE where you have to click on the embeded object to activate it. It sucks. So now we're all using the Javascript that macromedia provided (or something similar).
My question is this:
We used to be able to send variables to the SWF file through the embed. For example
PHP Code:
src="flash.swf?variable1=2"
So I was wondering if there was a way to do something similar with the new IE work arounds?
Images Look Crappy When Adding Preload-scene
I have an imagesequence that should be exported with the swf in highest quality. Works great on it self and all, no problem whatsoever, UNTIL....
I added a preloader in a scene
Now when I export, the images look all crappy! Almost bitmap-like. I swear I've checked the properties of all images and the export-settings and all that.
Can someone help me with this problem?
Much appreciated,
Mediamonkey
