HDD Failure Nightmare: Need To Decompile Files From Web
Hi there

A couple of months ago, I had a bit of a nightmare in that my harddrive failed, losing an entire year's work. I have so far managed to get by without having to pay the £1000 quoted for getting the data professionally retreived, but have come up with a problem today.

I created 2 swf files for the homepage of a client's new website. They have now decided they want some changes to these yet I no longer have the .fla file to make the changes.

Can anyone help me? Is there a decompiler I can use without having to spend a lot of money? Can some kind person perhaps do this for me?

I download file .swf from a website for study how to do Action Script V2.0 by using Sothink SWF Decompiler and export to it to file .fla

After that I test run program, the result show Error. Could you please check Code for me that something wrong. and why it show Error. Because I'm new for Action Script V2.0 so I'm quite not understand well.

hi, today i juz d/l and tried Sothink swf decompiler, but i found that it just couldn't export the swf into fla file, but only could extract the source such as graphics, and scripts etc. Anyone knows which software can do even better than sothink? All i want is the fla source file. I don't mean to copy and paste the other's works, but wishing get down to understand how the effects done and learn from it...

I have a client who has a template that they want to use. I used my decompiling software to try to get the files so i could edit them but the program didnt decompile the ones i needed. I have an SWF file that I need decomplied so I can get some actionscript code out of it and find the URL path to 2 parts of it internally.

Would anyone be able to help me, it should be simple, I'm just not experienced with decompiling an SWF file, and I am on a Mac, the PC decompilers are more in-depth and allow more to be seen.

Can I Decompile Your Flash?
Hi, im a beginner of flash. I hate those codes to describe flash, but i like joining up those elements. I know I am strange and thus i cant learn valuable things in flash. So i "invent" a good method in flash learning. First I googled "decompiler" and download one of them which i think is good enough(http://www.sothink.com/product/flashdecompiler/index.htm)
. Then i decompiled some swf(on web) to see how they make it. Then I joined the elements up, the swf palyed well, I win. So, i retry and retry, things becomed no more difficult to me. I think my learning method was advanced until someone my friend told me: "stop do that, you've offended the flash author! " I dont quite understand her words but I couldnt continue my work. I only want to learn some flash, I dont want to offend anyone else. I dont know if my friend's suggestion is true? It's a pity I cant learn my flash with decompiler, I hope someone bigbody could give me some advice! Thank you!

Would anyone with a Flash decompiler be able to do me a favour?

I created a simple flash animation (currently visible on http://www.avoncrusade.co.uk) but I cannot find the original .fla. I'm working from home (with a bad cold) and can't find it. Nobody at the office seems to be able to help either.

Decompile A FlashPaAper
Does anyone know how to decompile de content of a FlashPaper SWF?

I dont mind about the FP interface itself but the content itself.

Tha thing is I have an old program form aking maps that has no export options, only printing. When i sent the maps to the simulated printer, FP mantains what this software sends to the printer as vectors which is very convenient.

So, is there any way to decompile or modify the content of a FP?

i know that moderators are not so happy to talk about the subject of this 3d but,,,i beg your pardon...
well i've browsed all the net for a long time to look for the source FLA of this digital clock(it's attached) but i couldn't help it. so i decided to install a decompiler. my need is just to change the color of sticks (black-->white) not much more. but,,,when i explort to flash the swf file and open it in mx2004 i get an error. otherways i can read the AS included in the swf but couldn't build the original flash from that!

No, I'm not asking for you to decompile someone's Flash program for me. As you'll see at the site, it's nothing special ( just the word "flyyyyyyy" ). This is an attempt I've been developing at making a Flash SWF that is unable to be decompiled.

I'd like for anyone interested to try to decompile this and post here the code that is inside. It's only a couple lines but it should be able to prove whether or not you did find a way to decompile it.

Quite A Big Favour, Please Decompile Small Swf
Sorry to ask, but would anybody be able to decompile an old Flash file on a website I designed years ago, and ,of course, have lost the source for.

It's basically a small flash player which works with a cgi script to stream mp3s - I'm pretty sure it came from a tutorial site many moons ago.

Anyway I can't find anything about it online, so I am reduced to having to hack it apart to try and work out the script and how it interacts with the cgi, so i can make some small changes.

I work on a mac and as far as I can tell there is no real decompiling software available which will simply export the thing as a Fla file.

So I know it's a liberty, but please could somebody simply decompile it, export it as a fla, and mail it to me at felix (at) urbanimage.tv

Copyright enthusiasts should note urbanimage is credited as the builders. (Although no one in their right mind would want this delightful piece of antique code.)

Preventing Decompile / Code Reading

I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good solution for encrypting AS3 files to prevent decompiling and code-reading...not for SWC files but for an SWF or rather the AS3 classes compiled therein. I really don't care if anyone gets the minimal graphics or even most of the scripts; but I'm worried about someone figuring out how to hack the database my SWF is tapping into by deducing what the variables it's sending are (as it is I obfuscate everything sent over the wire to make it not-human-readable).
I looked at Amayeta, but they don't seem to be up to AS3 yet. Any thoughts? You'd think encryption would be a built-in compile option already...

Flash Decompile/View Files?¿
Hi, Im doing research into VR Tours and I find that I learn quite a lot from seeing peoples code. In some webpages, I can right click and view the source and find the xml file(all the important code is in the xml file linked to the tour-most cases-)

But when the tour is fullscreen, I get no right click as its all Flash.

How can I access the files that make up a tour to see how its been done?
Do I need a decompiler? or what else?

If I need a decompiler, is there any freely available? If I can do it someonether way please let me know...

MP3 Nightmare HELP
I'm doing a Flash Mobile Phone Ringtones Website, where the user can access a library of about 2,000+ ringtones and order the one of their choice.
The supplier has provided me with the MP3s.
I got a programme called Soundnails which will batch export MP3's into seperate .swf because I load .swf containing the MP3 upon the user clicking the "Play" Button.

My problem is this. Soundnails only batch exports MP3s that are 128kbps 44100Hz Stereo - The ones the supplier has given me are 32kbps -

Given the numbers I can't possibly export each sound individually, are there any cheap programs or server side utlities etc that can help?
What can I do, is there anyone who can save me

I believe that movies won't play the same way as they used to in previous versions.

I have found this article which was posted in a thread on here.

It would be the perfect solution - if I understood how to use java and how to control it - which I don't!!!

Does any one out there have a sample folder of how I should set it up or some files that I can play about with to get a better understanding of how it can be done please?

What A Nightmare
Ok, I'm aware that this is a bit complicated to explain but I'll try my best.
I have a flash movie which consists of a series of jpgs with their associated thumbnails that load dynamically depending on a section variable. Each section has six jpgs and six thumnails to load, and I have a loading bar that displays while the images are being loaded. Up to this point all is fine. It works a treat when its on my computer.
The problem starts when I upload it to my server. Then all kinds of weird things happen. Sometimes it all works like expected, but others it never finishes loading the sections completely. When this happens it is usually one of the thumbnails that for some reason doesn't want to load so the loading bar stays on 97% or 99% and the section never displays. All the necessary images are in the server, so I don't understand why sometimes it doesn't load them all.
I'm on an adsl connection so download time shouldn't be an issue. The only conclusion I come to is that maybe my hosting cannot cope with being requested all the images at once??
Is this possible? In total each section (jpgs and thumbnails) is about 150K so its all a bit baffling.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

top,even though the settings on the publishing are set to center.I cant figure

Wasn't even sure where to post this; I'm having problems relating to Flash/CSS/XML and I don't know where things are going wrong...

Anyway, the dillemma: I am making a Flash menu & background for a website with an iframe stacked on top of it (because I need full use of HTML for the pages themselves).

Now, I have two ultimately horrible mockups I did for testing purposes:

This one doesn't... except sometimes when I've left the page for a while and then go back and look at it, suddenly the iframe exists again.

Anyway, I want to use the second one because the menu is all set up the way I want it. But I cannot get the iframe to stay stacked on top of the Flash file. So can anyone tell me why z-index is working on the first page, but not the second one?

Also, the links from the menu on the second page are not opening in the iframe. The menu is driven by XML (http://www.dreamsthunder.com/flash/menu.xml)... is there something spectacular about targeting frames in XML that I'm not aware of? The first "Google" link is set to target "main", which is the iframe.

I would appreciate ANY help, although I'm sure not expecting it... *sigh*

The Mac/PC PDF Nightmare
I've read a lot of discussion on how to open PDFs on a Mac via Applescript and on a PC via a .BAT file, but is it possible to create a hybrid CD that would open PDFs on both Mac & PC or would I need to publish 2 separate CDs, one for Mac/one for PC? Has anyone actually created a hybrid CD with this functionality. I really hope this isn't just wishful thinking.

Dpi Nightmare
I'm working on a site for a client that he wants to have the End User upload a image on to the site, where the back end saves a main copy and a makes a thumbnail to play with in flash. Then the End User can reposition and scale the thumbnail image on a silhouette of a snowboard. After we save this custom boards on a database. Later then client opens the End Users account and reproduces this on a real size board.

The Problem: One the dpi of the after product has to be 300dpi and the Main image upload has to be that as well.

So I need to know what the dpi of the swf file is so that I may make a proper representation of the image on over the silhouette of the board, that way the End User can see what 100% of the image uploaded will look like in a 1/15th scale representation of it.

I think from the export option when saving a jpg from flash that it's 72 dpi? Any one know for sure??

I am trying to send values between swf.
But something weird is happening... in one of the swf, the code seem to not work, but looks ok...
The idea is that after clicking on the red square, it will send a new value to the OTHER flash movie that is inside of a html.
I will upload both of them so u guys can give me a hand, pls...

Hi,

I have a problem with sound. I just dont's seem to be able to mute a background loop out without muting every sound playing.

fla files

the vol.fla has a movie container which loads in the mute button with attached sound. The mute works fine as a stand-alone .swf but not when loaded into vol.

Also, this 'vol.swf' is loaded into another main movie into level7. The problem there is that when it is supposed to mute the bg music, it mutes everything!!!!!

Could someone out there take a look and tell me where I am going wrong please.

I have been at this for about a day now and am getting quite frustrated with the whole thing. I have a movieClip that is contained inside another clip which I need to get the global coordinates from its local position. I then need to set these coordinates to another movie clip on stage.

This code is all contained on one button on stage...

Scrollbar Nightmare
I have got several pages on a website which need to scroll. So far i have got an up and down arrow so that when you rollover them it scrolls the text. I have also go a 'fake' scrollbar which is just tweened. Is there any code i can put on this so that i can grab it and scroll the text with that aswell as the arrows?

Variable Nightmare
Could someone explain this to me once and for all.

Okay...I'm talking about basic basic variable stuff.
Let's say I have a button. When you roll over it...I want a menu to motion tween
onto the stage. And when you roll off of it...I want the menu to motion tween off.
SO I create a movie clip...with the motion in animation and the motion out animation.
I throw a couple of stop actions in there and some frame labels so that I can target
the right frame.

Here is what I want to do. If the user rolls off the button before the movie clip
reaches it's fully extended position......I want it to reverse it's frames and go back.
Or just disappear. Either way. What I don't want it to do...is suddenly jump to the
fade out label.....creating a jumpy effect.

The coding I'm looking for must be simple...but I've never done it.
ALl I need is something that tells flash...that when the movie clip reaches it's fully
extended position...then something =1, if not...something =0. If whatever is equal to 1,
then play the fade out.....if whatever isn't= to 1 than play previous frame, or go to and
stop at some blank frame.

I have the idea...just don't know how to implement it.
