Hey guys, i am new to flash and so far I have seen a couple ways that you can develop sites. one is to have a main timeline and load swfs into it. and the other is to put everything on the main timeline. I was searching for an article that would give me the advantages and disadvantages of both. anyone know about this?

Hello..I would like to make a design page that user can design his Tshirt online. It should have the functions like, adding pictures and text on the Tshirt, and the user can modify the font of the text and the position of the picture. After design, the whole information should be sent to the database for producer usage. Therefore, could any one have some good suggestion or source code for these purpose or any good links.

Flash Web Design
This may sound like a really dumb question, but I'm new to flash web design and I'm curious how I would go about creating pages with links. In otherwords, how do I get a link to take me to a different "page" when it is clicked? If anyone knows of a good website that would have this information, can you please send it to me. Flash Design Help
A little new to the flash scene, I've been reading the post and trying the things posted here out! I feel its better to learn than just ask all the time! One thing that I can't come across here is what is the BEST method or software for designing flash (Intro's, menus, interfaces etc..)? Right now I've been using Swift3d for my words and letters, but what is good for making intro's so that they don't take up a lot of bandwidth?

3D Flash Design?
I need a graphics designers help, willing to pay for the job done, I need a 3d animated world going in circles, with a belt of light turning around it, inside this light I need some words that also spin around with the belt, but these words need to be continuose, back to back. I want to make those shapes into an animation using flash. However, i haven't used flash for about 2 years. So i'm asking if anyone would please make those shapes into an animation? Possible making the shapes rotate, englarge or whatever you think would look cool.

Also, could you comment on the design of the site? It may look different on different browers, i'm not sure.

I already know html but thats where I'm stuck its not good enough ne more I need to know flash, but I stuck. I don't even know where to begin. Flash Design Help..
I have recently begun learning Flash MX 2004, and after accomplishing several tasks, would like some advice on how best to design a system. I have learnt how to use recordsets from external data sources, as well as using buttons, and enabling drag drop etc. However the system I require would involve dynamically loading buttons based on dynamic data retrieved from a database. This I am unaware how to achieve? To clarify, I want to interrogate a database, and then load a button onto the page (labelling the button with a piece of text from the record) for every record in the recordset I have returned.

Any help or pointers would be very much appreciated.

Flash Design
Hey guys...been awhile since I've been on here, but I have a question.
If I was to create something in Flash that someone wanted to buy (only a little 30 second deal) to put on a website, etc....is there anything I can do to make sure they don't turn around and give it to another 100 people or whatever?
I'm assuming there's nothing I can do, but I'm still curious.

New To Flash, Not Design
I have a clear picture of what I want to do. I am not too scared of action script. Skill in design, photoshop and video in general is not a real issue.

Here is the idea, followed by the questions.

A screen with several buttons. Beneath the buttons a looping video will play.
The buttons start videos that would play in the same window.

I plan on doing this in AS3

The questions

Seems like I need to be able to unload the video upon completion that played when a it's button was activated. Correct? Would that be with cue point/marker? The reason to unload would be to get back and reveal the controller screen with the buttons?

Related to the previous question. Rather than downloading all the videos (there could be 10) they should be loaded when needed, correct?

Ifso, from a design point of view, if someone did not want to watch the video all the way through, there should be a button on the playing video to give the m the option to close and return to the controller screen.

I'm designing a site that will load in swf's from a button and I want to get rid of transitions but have each movie load in a small tween. may be just an image tweening in from the side and a text box that dynamically loads from txt files and php. I know how to do this. However,

1. Should I have a preloader in a separate scene then the main swf.

2. the content be small enough to just have a preloader in the first frame in the event somene views it on a slow machine

3. ignore the preloader it will be small enough.

How To Make This Design In Flash
Hi, i would like to make an s curve in flash. How would i achieve this? Or rather, if i made a straight line, is there a way to to drag a point in the middle of the line so that it creates a curve or wave effect? Any help is great, thanks!

Using Flash To Design A Web Site
hello all,

i'm trying to figure out how i can redo my web site using flash. it is pure html at the moment, approximately 10 pages in total.

should i....

(a) create 10 separate .swf files, one for each page on my site, or
(b) should i have the whole site (all 10 pages) be one single .swf movie that loads when someone types in my url??

if the right approach is (a), i guess each .swf file would be embedded in its own html page... and i guess when you click on a button in one .swf, it loads the relevant html document.... right??

if the right approach is (b), wouldn't the movie take forever to load?

sorry if i'm asking a really stupid question, but i just finished reading a beginner's guide that focused primarily on using flash to create short web-based animations. it made no mention of how i could use flash to design a web interface.

i'm probably way off base on both approaches! some advice would be greatly appreciated!

Yes I am definately a newbie to flash... I have a question.

I have a design idea for a site, but it was designed in Photoshop 7. I do have the latest version of Fireworks but I am a lot more comfortable in photoshop. What should I save my graphic in before I import it to the Flash MX canvas... .png?

I have decided as i have with other parts of my site that it's time for a make-over. i have got 2 weeks off my day job and i am going to totally strip down the back-end of the site. Since the forum is basically the heart of my site i am going to be working out form there.

Need Someone To Design Me A Flash Intro
-First, I want to make sure this is allowed here..I read the forum rules and it says no "job" posts, but I am not hiring anyone for an actual job where you will be working day after day..

I have a website, www.scpremier15.com, and I am currently in the process of creating a nice layout, giving the website a nice face lift. I want to add a really nice introduction in the beginning of the site, but I don't have any time to do it (occupied with the layout) and I am not familiar at all with Flash MX.

Type of intro I am looking for:
My teams logo is printed onto a steel door. The door begins to crack open and light shows behind it, rumbling starts, door explodes forward..Soccer players running out of tunnel onto the field, stadium lights turn on, and then a zoom in on the center field where my teams logo will be. Then it will say enter...

Flash Web Design Questions
I am very interested in this kinda stuff. I know how to use photoshop very well, and i make webpages, html tho. I know the basics of flash, but i want to take this knowledge to an other extent

I have a few questions, mostly reffering to www.2advanced.com:

1st, How much knowlegde of flash does one require to make such animations such as when u click portfilio for example, with the spinning logo, and the strips going across page.

2nd, I like the way how the stuff unfolds when u click the links at top, witht he blinking, sliding and all. Looks very nice, and seems not to hard to make, just lots of stuff going on. Am i right there, or is it harder than it seems?

3rd, well, main question is how to go about to plan a site in flash, like the design, the layout and all. Also, when clicking the links at top, how do u target it to the movie clip were all the stuff happens?

4th and last, when u click one of the tops links, like portfolio, u can click the expand button on auxiliary panel. How is such a thing done in flash? i like that idea.

Flash.ocx? What Is This? Error With My Design?
i am redesigning my website and finished most of it. i have one problem though.

sometimes when i am viewing my website, either on my computer or over the net, after clicking on a button a window will pop up and say something like "the following add-on was running when this error occured:" and it says the add-on is "flash.ocx". then internet explorer closes.

is this a problem with my actionscript possibly? it happened on my friends computer too but that is all i know of right now. it happens often. is it maybe just our computers? i just am worried if it is my website. here is the link to my site to see if it will do the same for anyone else.

i just found out that it may just be Internet Explorer. my friend has firefox and he browsed my site for a long time and nothing happened. than when he went to IE it did that error.

Help With Flash Banner Design
I am trying to create a flash banner ad that loads when a page loads and gives the user the option to minimize it. When the ad is minimized, I wanted to leave a box (that could also function as a mini version of the larger ad)that could be clicked and reload the ad if desired.

I have been struggling with how to do this. I tried creating two movies, one for the main ad and one for the smaller box that remains after the ad is minimized. I inserted the object code for the larger ad into my html and it loads and will load the smaller ad then the button (for minimizing the ad) is clicked but the smaller ad loads in the area defined by the object code for the larger ad. I am not sure how to work around this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

I'm new to webdesign and I'm trying to use flash animation on my site. The problem is everytime I load the site the flash is blocked by internet explorer saying it's blocking activex. This doesn't happen when I load other sites with flash animation, how do I set mine up so users who go to the site don't get blocked? Please help!

I have a nasty problem: the flash banner I designed doesn't perform the way it should. Once customers are clicking on it, it doesn't take them to the url. Is there a setting in Flash which needs to be "on" or action script? The banners are part of some networks I have no idea about. Please advise something!

Flash Site Design - How To -
I've been learning flash for the last month or so and now I'm about to dig in. I need to create a site and slideshow that has animated borders around a slideshow like this:

With then entry lines looking as though they are drawn on should I be doing this by creating a movie clip of a drawn out border and then masking, fading and keyframing the borders in? Or should that be done with some actionscript trickery?

The actual resizing borders around the slideshow. Do I just create 3 or so different borders and then is there a way to write a script that recognizes the size of the photo and then adjusts the border automaticly so that I can load the photos from xml. I'm pretty sure that if I was creating a self contained slideshow I could animate this all myself without some crazy actionscripts (Aside from the basics) but since I need to load them from xml and I need it to adjust itself to the size I'm not quite sure which way I should be heading.
