is it possible to have the flash detect the current html window?
I'm NOT asking for just the domain or the swf file's location (_url property). so:
WHAT I DON'T WANT IS the domain, i.e.: www.domain.com
WHAT I DON'T WANT IS the swf file's location, i.e.: http://www.domain.com/folder/flashfo...y_swf_file.swf
WHAT I DO WANT IS to retrieve the URL i'm browsing, i.e.: www.domain.com/folder/webpage.html
is it possible? please, some advanced user, answer me! i have been looking many places but can't find an answer to my question.

How? Flash Links To Html Window Inside Html Window
Hi, at this site, www.jerrycantrell.com, he has flash buttons and when you click on one it changes the content in a small scroll bar window of the page but doesnt reload the whole page, this looks slick. but it is dealing with html, so this question doesnt completely have to do with flash. but i assume the linking commands in flash have most to do with this, all im able to do is change the page entirely with a link, and when i'm only changing somthing in one window its not as quick and because it reloads the whole page just for that one thing it doesnt look as slick because there's a blank white screen between loading the new page.. only for a second, but you get the just of it. anyone know how to do this? much thanks

Is there a way to tell if a window has its focus set? - is selected. I want to stop the background music when the user selects to go to another page from the site (geturl... _blank), and then turn it back on when the user returns to the originating window.

Detect Closing Browser Window
Hi all,
the problem is this one: i want my flash movie capturing browser windows client closing, to call an actionscript function that is calling a javascript function in the HTML page.
Is this possible?
Or the same problem, but in another way:
I think that once browser is closing its own window, tells flash movie to stop, and then unload it.
Is it possible for Flash to detect that "STOP"?
I need it for AICC.
Really urgent and important.

Website Resize To Fit Window Or Detect
This is my first time posting and i'll probably break some rules that will crush the delicate fabric of this forum, but here goes any way. I have published a website that is fully flash for my company, but i'm not getting the sizing that I want. I have looked all over for a way to detect screen size and resize my site accordingly. I'm sure it's here somewhere, but i've looked at tutorials, posts, uploaded files I can't find it! please help! i'll attach the index.html page i'm using to load my site, and right now it's loading an .swf instead of html, because everytime i use html it puts a white boarder around it instead of filling the screen. I also have uploaded an index2.html where i changed the border lines outside of my canvas and they still show up, so my movie is not filling out the way i want it to. any help is appreciated.

Can Flash Detect The Closing Of A Window?
Hi everybody
My problem is the following:
I have a page with a flash in it that opens a new window with a second flash in it.
Now what i'm trying to do is that whenever the second window is closed by the user, the swf in the first page calls a distant php script. Is that possible?

MC Detect Window Size And React
Hello!
So besides having one of the coolest flash sites Ive ever seen and the best artwork, this site also does something I must learn how to do. It adjusts it's MC positions in relation to the objects around it AND the browser window size. You can see that it's size is set to 100% x100%, the background is static while the elements react. I love it.

(javascript) I Want To Detect Window Focus
here is the problem:
got a heavy (pig of a) animated menu system. Its moves about only on mouse over. I have set it up so that when the mouse is not in its area it stops calculating its position. however if you happen to move your mouse to the another window without first 'moving out of the quadrant' it churns happily along chewing up tons of resources.
my idea is to detect window focus. if the browser is not focused I turn the menu off. anyone know how?
anyone got a better idea?
and if you do not have any of the above but do have tips on optimizing math heavy dynamically generated movement, that could be useful as well.

I'm creating a Flash 4 menu for my website and was wondering how to use ActionScript to load variables from the HTML page.
I want to be able to create one menu file which changes it's on state depending on which page it's on... either by detecting the name of the page it's on or by calling to a variable on that page.

I am willing to make an effect of scrolling about 1000 pages in flash,
let me describe dad : I have a layout in flash that loads a text in particular font size, depending on detected screen resolution . What I have done so far is adjust the font size of the text depending on screen x resolution, to occupy duble the height of screen x resolution (so dad if you would like to see the entire text, you need to scroll it down in a browser window....
Now, what I would like to achieve is : when user rolls down and reaches the "html" bottom of a site (I am counting only with users with mouse wheels)
flash starts to generate new texts for next about 100 "html pages" ...now , is it possibble to detect when user scrolls and reaches the end in html ? ??????????
Or I can detect that only according to mouse wheel ? Is even a mouse wheel movement detectable by flash ??? I mean not for scrolling but to get the amount (set originally in windows) of text which is shifted according to mouse wheel rotation ????

well It could be detected in flash sure through listeners, but you can adjust the amount of lines per mouse wheel rotation in windows so I want to be precise ....

Detect When Flash File Ends By Closing Browser Window
Okay, this one was hard to explain in the title.
What I want to do is know when a user hits another web address or closes the browser window so that I can write out the session ended information to a database. Is this possible? I write to the database when the swf file is started, and can write to it if I hit an end button within the swf file, but my concern is - what if someone doesn't hit the end button and just closes the browser. Can that be captured from flash or some other script?

I have a Flash animation which at one point opens a New Windows and plays an external FLV file. I would like to be able to continue with the animation once the new movie window is closed.

I wan't to put in the movie's html code a dialog window, asking a user "There is no flash player on your system. Do you wan't to load it?". If they dont want it, the code will skip the .swf intro and jump to the real website.

Auto Detect Redirect To HTML
Hello,
I need help setting up a entrance page that will automatically redirect visitors that do not have Flash to my HTML site. Of course if the visitor has Flash it will play the Flash site. Btw, I have Flash 8 which has a detection switch but not sure how to use it for this.
A good example of what I'm trying to do is at sony.com. If you disable your flash plugin in the browser it (sony.com) will auto take you to the html site and inform you by placing a link at the bottom of the page that says "html site".

Publish Swf/html With Flash Detect
The HTML below is generated from flash when I want to detect Flash on a users browser.
I cannot seem to correctly position the content that follows this code.
The Flash movie MYWEBSITE appears at the top of the page but then I need to insert a table in the center to hold an image. This must be as close to the bottom of MYWEBSITE as possible.
How do I do this?

Detect Texfield Html Images Loaded
I have a text field in a clip being loaded into a scrollpane component.. easy enough..
I have text and images being loaded into that text field..
when the text is loaded the field thinks that it's done and then fires off a myScrollPane.invalidate() to rfresh the scroll bar to fit all of the text..
The problem: the Images load into the field after the textfield thinks it's done loading and updates the scrollpane component. I know you can target these images using the "id" attribute but is there a way to place a listener to detect an onLoad event or a loaded event for that id?
summary: Can I detect when textfield images are done loading. are there any built in events for this?
Detect When User Rolls Over Certain Text In Html Field?
I'd like to do a term/hint rollover kind of functionality. I have text from XML displaying in an HTML-formatted field, but I'm not sure how to flag a particular word for this. When creating a hyperlink in flash HTML fields, you can of course detect a lick of that link, but can you do anything about when a user rolls over it?
If that's not possible, what work-arounds might there be to simulate this effect?
I wonder about drawing an invisible clip over the word to which I can add a rollover listener. Doing this would require I know the coords that define a box around the word in the text field - is that possible?
Button Going To Html File, Want Html To Be Specific Size In Window
When I click on a button in my flash project, it takes the user to a html file. In that file the user can click on different .pdf files. I would like to make the html file a certain sized window example 300x400. I do not know what code (or where to put it in the html file) to use to make the window constrain to 300x400. Also, I would like the users computer to open acrobat reader in a seperate window, when they click on a .pdf link. Right now, it just opens in the original html file so the user has to hit the back button to get back to the original html file. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it muchly!

The problem: With a button (onrelease) in a Flash movie which is embeded in a HTML page I want to activate a dynamic textbox in another Flash movie which is embeded in another HTML page. Both pages/windows are open at the same time.

I need that when i click at a button on my flash website, it calls a new html window that have another swf in it..but i want to this new sfw go to a certain frame according to the button clicked on the first swf... did i get myself clear?
Its like i have 3 button in the SWF(1) and i want that this tree button, when clicked, call a url with a swf in it, the problem is, i want that this swf called from the button go to frame 1 if button one was pressed, frame 2 if button two was pressed and so on...
is that possible? Open and call the frame?

for the Get Url the "button name html", "right" frame
and it opens a new window. Is there some other place I need to check to direct it to the local root file instead of opening a new window?
I was following example in Jumpstart Kit.

I have a HTML text scroller that loads a HTML text file at run time, and I am trying to load a JavaScript window that has no borders and menu and address bar etc... but I can't seem to get the HTML in the text document to be so correct to work... has anyone done this before or is it possible?

I am making a site where I want to display my artwork. I have seen Flash sites where the links to images pop up a new html window(no menu bar or scroller) fit to the image size.
I would really like this instead of a regular browser window popup.
