I need help urgently.

I am trying to input chinese character into Flash but the problem is that everything that I am typing has turned into rubbish.

The software that I am using is NJSTAR COMMUNICATOR 2.3 (TRIAL VERSION)to input chinese character.

Please help!!!!!

Does anyone know what i have to do to make a site and have it so it will display in a different language??

I have seen it on other sites where you have to download a language pack...

RTL Languages
Here is the thing; me and some guys have build stuff in flash.

Next we had to make whatever we had developed international (or better multinational since it needed to be distributed in a few countries). Some of these countries used exotic characters and which we could solve with codepages (and since a short while with the so called unicode support).

No problem so far...

HOWEVER now countries with exotic formats have shown interest.
By browsing around i learned that RTL languages are a bit problematic.

Since i dont feel like reinventing everything from scratch and im pretty sure you guys have lots of knowledge, my questions are:

-What do i need to know?
-What are the best practices?
-How about other more exotic formats (Bottom to Top)?

This should be simple, but I've read and can't figure it out.

I'm using Flash MX. I want to give my users the options of displaying text in Japanese (and other languages). Currently, I have a dynamic text field that updates in English.

I want to do the same dynamic text in Japanese. I don't know Japanese, so I won't need to be typing it in. However, I have a translation that I just want to cut and paste into the .fla. It seems like a font issue.

What are the steps I need to do for this? I've read the Macromedia site and can't see how to do it easily. I'd rather not have to reset my OS language.

Two Languages In One Movie
I have a text fx generated by dublicating a movie with action scripting First i put in the movie a text with greek characters and the second time a text with english characters and the encoding is arial greek.
With windows 2000 i see the page with the flash and the characters good but with windows xp the page with the same flash doesn't display correct the greek characters only the english ones.
I tryied to change from explorer the text encoding but with no results.
I ask if someone of you had a same problem with two languages on the same movie.
I used flash mx and exported it as flash 5.

By this way you can launch the spanish.swf if the user is Spanish or the english.swf if he's english !!!

Simlilarities Between Two Languages
I just started taking VC++ classes in school, all my school offers is QBASIC<, Turbo Pascal(haha), and VC++. The languages are very simlilar, was this intentional or just chance? Because a lot i learned from actionscript i recognize in C++

For example, u have a site that u have created and u need to extend that content to other persons with diferent languages. All site's text must change.
Creating many .txt files that would be loaded to the dinamic text fields?? Then if u had 10 languages u would necessarily have to creat 100 files and variables...

Switch Languages ...
Hi,

I have a main movie in which I load 3 external movies which each contain two scenes (French & English).

A visitor can select either English or French, however when he navigates using one of the three buttons in the main movie, I would like that the selected language is remebered. In other words, if English was selected I want all three movies playing the 'English' scene when loaded.

How do I go about doing that ?

[F8] Problems With IME And Other Languages
Hello Folks

I'm having a bit of an hard time figuring this out. The project that I'm working requires the user to type in accented characters using the Windows or Mac IME. However the Key class doesn't seem to be able to differentiate between a regular key press and the accented character (the accented character is a two-key process). Now I have looked into the IME class built into System, however it's not applicable here, because we're not offering a choice of letters to the user. I'm really confused at this point. In Wordpad, I hit ' then a, and it comes out with an accent. In my flash app the Key class picks it up as the two distinct key codes.

Any ideas?

HI, I've created a long linear movie in Flash. Now my client asks me to change the text in 6 different languages. All my texts are still editable but I think it will take some time to replace them all. Is this a copy-paste thing or is there a faster way of working (probably not)

Linking To Another Swf For 2 Different Languages
Hi all,

I have completed my website in French, and I am going to redo the hole thing in english as well.

I would to have both languages in 2 different swf files.

say:
index.html (french)
index2.html (english)

lets say IM on frame 5 in the french version, and on my layout I have the choice to go to 'english' is it possible to link index.html (frame5) to index2.html(frame5) ?

Basicly if Im in the portfolio section in french, and I press the english button It stays at the same frame, and doesnt just load index2.html and have the user go all the way back to where we was 2 secs ago !

Page In 2 Languages
Trying to bulid a flash site which runs on two languages one english and another.

I made the splash flash file and want to link the buttons. Because my site is mostly database driven for future updates I want to be able to just edit one flash file instead of creating two for each language. So can I link to

website.html?language=eng or website.html?language=spa

and have one applet recognize the language and sort of keep in in mind throughout the movie file. is this possible without setting any cookies or sessions etc? I mean only in a flash file.

Any recommendations? other then building a function to check for the language each time it parses something from the db?

Also what do I have to do in the flash movie file to get the language variable?

When i make a text object in movie, using Arial font (which should show, and shows serbian letters such as ć,š,č,ž in other programs) i get some crazy characters. How can i change the encoding?

XML, Flash, Different Languages
I'm working on a Flash sales piece that will have 8 versions based on different languages. I'm planning on having 1 main application that will load an XML file with the appropriate translation based on which language is selected. My main concern is how the XML file will store Chinese, Japanese, or Korean text/characters and how succesfully the XML is loaded into Flash. I Googled some info about XML & Asian character sets and it looks do-able. Has anyone had any success loading an XML file with Asian character sets into a Flash application?

Pls help, what I have to do, or which script I have to use, that I can see another language letters?
I am from Lithuania and I can't see all letters. When I simple write a text on a stage it's all right. But I have created a New Font and I am using it for buttons. Can somebody help me?

After ,my lil bro hitting the keyboard of my pc for about an hour he managed to change to language in Flash how did he do this and how can i change it back i am really messed up. I know it's a stupid question but how did he do this i wanna get to the bottom of his stupidness!.

Why Do We Need The Different Programming Languages?
Hi,
People use Flash with php, javascript, asp, html, etc, etc.
I was just wondering why we need all these different languages. Why do people use javascript with Flash for example? Are there things that can be done with javascript and not with other. Does anyone have an overview of what the different languages do and how they interact to make webpage? For example, asp is used for forms and other interaction in webpages...why? Why not just model this in Flash?
Any ideas and thoughts?

How To Handle Languages?

I'm a newbie to flash. I would like to know how to handle languages with flash. I am designing a website which has 'French' and 'English' sections. Do I have to copy and paste, in the same flash file, my english section and then do the translation and the linkage? Is there any otherway that could be more easy? Hi, I will do a site all in flash. There is a main SWF with the basic structure and with "loadMovieNum " I will call each section ( in this proyect are 12 sections aprox). And here is the big problem for me.

The client want this site in 6 difrent languages. When I have 2 languages, my technique is clone the site. But this time I think that it would be a big work and a big mistake. SO... I am looking for a new way to do this.

I've trying something that I would try to explain: ( sorry for my english)

Each text box is a movie clip with 6 frames. And every time that the visitor click on a button of language, for instance "spanish" I change the frame of each text box to the frame of that language.

But I have a Huge problem. This change only affect the swf loaded in other level in this time . I mean, when I click.( swf primary + second swf in level 2) If I change the language and then load another section, The language of this swf loaded in level 2 does't changes.

Anyone have something to helpme?

The code for the button of language change have this script (its a test) "t1" is a movie clip in the main swf, and "t2" is a movieclip in the section loaded on the level 2, but no take effect wht I load the this after to change language.

How Do You Change Languages?
My dad is going to give me Flash 5.0 and MX 2002 as a gift, but they are both in Spanish!!! Is there any way to change their language settings so they're in english? Please help!!!

When loading data from a PHP/MYSQL into the flash movie only my own language(Dutch) and English are displayed properly.

Because the flash MX application must run for several languages I am currently trying to insert French content
but the fonts seem to get scrambled seriously (e.g. 'Créez la région' becomes 'Cr¡õz la r¡õgion' or something)

Anyhow, I heared about using unicode pages so I've first tried $outputstring=utf8_encode($outputstring);
This $outputstring will than be read by flash.

This didnt work, so I tried system.useCodepage = true which does work, but doesnt run on a MAC (I don't know about Linux), so I try to play save and figure out what steps I am missing in my PHP script in order to make flash read my file.

I am also using the Tahoma font in flash I case it should matter.

Help is very much appreciated!

Greetings. I have a potential project coming up where the client wants the entire site in flash, and in eight languages:

French, English, Chinese, Spanish, German, Russian, Italian, Greek

I've seen flash movies in most of these languages, but my question is this: at this stage, what does one have to keep in mind to be able to work with flash movies in these languages? I'm especially concerned about Chinese - it is as simple as embedded fonts, or is it much more complicated? I would be happy to hear from those to have produced sites in any of the above languages (besides English, of course) and what problems they encountered.

Foreign Languages In Flash
Hi!

Is it possible to copy text (in a foreign language e.g. chinese) from a Word file directly into Flash? It never seems to work with me - all my chracters refused to display properly and i have tried copying the Text into freehand in the hope of being able to convert them there into paths, but the text cannot be displayed there too.

Are there any precautions for foreign languages in Flash, which i should know about?

Now I want to add russian language text in flash dynamically through XML file. for that my XML test file is.

Foreign Languages In Actionscript?
I'm tryin to create two educational games that allows users to learn Punjabi vocabulary. i'm still in the design stage, but i've come across a problem with a way for presenting both punjabi & english fonts within the same game.

One of the games follows a hangman style, i would like the it to present a word in punjabi, the user would then have to find the english equivalent using normal english letters in a hangman fashion, by selecting one letter at a time.

However, how can i code this in actionscript so that it is pulled from an external text file? I have punjabi fonts which can be used in flash but i can't figure out how to link these two answers in an external text file.

The other game would display an english word and then the user is shown a set of punjabi letters which he/she has to rearrange to show the correct equivalent.

Again, i can't figure how i would put this into actionscript!!
somebody help please, this is the first time i have tried to create anything like this so i would really appreciate some pointers!!

I have developed a website for a company using both flash mx and dreamweaver. However they have asked me to quote on doing a japanese and possibly italian version of the site. So when you get to the home page you click on a japanese italian or english flag to proceed.

The text translations will be supplied however, is there anything I need to know about doing this. Is it just a matter of creating 3 different versions of the site?

Is there anything I need to know about working with japanese characters, how does this work with fonts? Is there something i need to download to view and work with such characters/fonts?

I'd appreciate any advice.
