can you guys post some tutorials on how to make navigational menus, not dropdown.

More specifically the kinda where an object goes along the menu to where you just clicked.

Flash And Firefox Drop Down Menus - Menus Appear Behind Flash
Hi,

In firefox, if you browse to http://www.unitedpatients.co.uk/index.php and mouse over "What the Doctors Say" you will see that the drop down menu generated by Fireworks appears behind the Flash file on the right side of the page.

This was an issue in IE but was fixed by adding:

Any ideas on doing something similar to make it work in Firefox (this also affects Safari on the mac)

Pop-up Menus
Okay, here's the dilly. I'm trying to create a pop-up menu navigation and I'm not very savvy with action scripting. Right now, I have a menu of links and I want to create popup menus for each link. I'm guessing this is probably done with tell targets, but I've never used those before and I'm not sure how much I need to know. Can anyone point out a good tutorial or maybe even send me a file that I can work with?

Pop-up Menus..............please Help
hey.

I am relatively new to flash 5. i have made a pop-up navigation menu (ie; it says "menu" and when u click on it, it opens up to a full menu with options, and closes when u roll out). i can't seem to get any of the menu-buttons to go to a new scene...in fact, it changes to a new scene in the program (with frmae-actions on), but when exported it won't go anywhere. I really want to use a pop-up menu and can't make it work. how do i do it??? please help me (in simple terms)

Here my problem
I have a few pop up menus on my site each with their own buttons.
the pop up menus open prefectly but when one of the menu is open and i select another menu i want the one thats open to close
I would like to do this with actionscripting but am unsure of were to start and were to put the variables

If anyone could help me on this that would be great.

ok..im trying to make scroll over buttons thats have a pop out menu that come out..but not on click..on ROLLOVER..and go back up when the mouse leaves the button..but when rolled over the pop down menu can be accesed without rolling back up..get it?help?

I've just about had it... I've searched everywhere, but can't find any info on this topic. Here goes...

Your Favourites menu in Internet Explorer has a scroll box at the bottom or top that scrolls the contents if they exceed the vertical limit of your screen.

I've been looking for a tutorial, or modification of a smart clip, or SOME hint or direction as to how to do this in Flash. I've tried using hit_tests, y_mouse, etc. to do this, but it never seems to work properly or seamlessly. If anyone out there has ANY hints as to how to produce a scrolling drop-down menu, PLEASE e-mail me. This has been plaguing me for a month now, and is integral to the project (thank god it's an open-ended one! ;-)

Can someone please help me, I've started a website, about mountain biking and bmx for my friends and I, and I decided to include a draggable menu, the only problem is, that the buttons in the menu don't do anything even after i've assigned scenes to them.

Pop Up Menus
I have followed Brett Taylor's Pop up Menus Tutorial and everything works fine. sub menus disappear and appear when they should, but when I place it on the stage and try to have the sub menus go to the their scene it doesn't work. I have checked the actions and they are ok.

I have action

on release
go to and play ("scene 1",1);
)
the second 1 is in black if that makes any difference.

Also when i click on one of the sub buttons the entire sub menu disappears unline Brett's which stay.

Any suggestions?

I need to do the following:
when clicking on a button, a movie clip is played and stopped. the movie clip must not disapear...
any ideas how to do that ?(I have the button and the movie clip, but I dont know how to do a link between button and movie clip)

Pop Up Menus
I am following Brett's creating pop-up menus tutorial and everything runs smoothly except my pop-up buttons (or as he calls them subButtons) do not navigate to anywhere.

Is that because we make them 'Track as menu'.

I am sure it is very simple to do but I am fairly new to this and have to submit the site to a client.

So please help me out.

When the mouse is rolled over the item Asia it will expand to Japan, China, Malaysia...

Pop Up Menus
Can anyone help me solve a problem that is probabally really simple? I've created a pop up menu by following the instructions in a book, but am unable to make the buttons in the expanded menu do what i want them to. I'm trying to make the each of the buttons in the expanded menu goto another scene, but all they will do is go back to the start of the timeline and begin the movie again. I'll include the file so you can see what I'm trying to do.

Help With Menus
Hello, Being new to flash I am hoping that someone can help me with a problem. I am trying to set up a menu where the buttons (thumbnails of my paintings) are across the bottom of the interface and when you scroll over the buttons the larger image appears above it. All the larger images will appear in the same area. I tried various ways but it seems that I can't have two or more images overlap - at least while using a rollover.

PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY MENUS

I have 3 menu buttons on top of each other. Each button when clicked, rolls down its menu. I would like to tell Flash to move down Button “b” and “c” a certain amount of pixels; then for the first menu “a” to display its submenu. If you click again button “a”, both other menus come back at their starting position.

I can’t seem to make it work !!!!!!!

Please somebody check my Action Script and tell me what it wrong with it. I have attached the file. Don't mind the messy menus - I just want the buttons to work YET !!!

hi i just wanted to know like how do u make menus in flash? and also like i seen some that are chrome and stuff they look cool but i cant seem to see how to change around how my menu looks like do i just copy and paste something else from a graphics program?

Hello, i am making a website and i am having some troubble getting the menus to work. right now i want it to be a button with my logo. when you mouseover that, the button expands with options. when you mouseover thoes options, they get more options.

Right now i made a button, and on the mouseover frame of the button, i put the smaller buttons and so on.

Pop-up Menus
I was just wondering if anyone knows if you can make pop-up menus in flash or even swish? What I mean is that I want when a user hovers over a button such as a button, that says "sports" for example, when the user hovers over it, a pop-up menu comes up saying everything that is in the scene that the button is linked to. If anyone understands what I'm saying and can help me, please get back to me. I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I have been using Flash MX for about 2 weeks now, and things are coming along well, however, I cant seem to figure out how to create a pop up menu.
I have tried doing it as a button, and having the mouseover effect display the + menu, but then when I move the mouse to click on the extended menu, it disapears.
I dont want to alter the "hit" space, because I dont want the menu to pop out, when your not actually on the button.
I am sure its easy, I am just missing something, and would reall appreciate any help.
I have also created a successfull pop up menu with Fireworks MX, but when I import it to Flash, all it displayes is the original image, and not the entire menu.

Hello, i'made a pop menu, but when i put actions to one button (the popping ones) didn't work!
I have this:In scene one a movie clip (that's the pop menu) and inside that movie clip there are 2 buttons, ok, those buttons should do something when clicked but, when i click in those buttons it make a loop of the movie (play it again, like press f5 on an internet web site). This is the actions:
(the button is tracked as a menú item)
on release
goto and play (Scene1, framelabel).
What can i do???

ok, sorry, this is probably a simple question, ive just never really dealt with menus in flash before...i need to make like a DHTML drop down menu in flash...i just cant figure out how when you rollover a mc/button that it keeps that state while its over the other menu items...i just want a simple menu like youd see in any application, except i want the menu to drop down on mouseover, not click, then when you rollout of the menu, it rolls away again...thank you...i working example would be nice to look at...by the way i searched the tutorials first and found nothing about this on it...

I am doing a menu probably the hard way... I have three buttons like below

button a button b button c

When you click button a it goes to frame 3 and stops... I have on the stage a movie clip that brings four more menu items below button a

Exmple now

button a button b button c
(subbutton 1 subbutton 2 subbutton 3)

Here's my question... when I put an action script on the subbuttons it isn't working... I want to go to frame number 6 on the main screen when I press subbutton 1... it isn't going anywhere... any ideas???

Please Help Me With My Fly Out Menus.
I am a very novice flash programmer, so you will have to bear with me here. I am using Flash MX 2004 and I have this movie clip that is a button that when
it is scrolled over some more buttons fly out of it. I then want the fly out
buttons to go to certain frames. How do I do this.

New here, first post, just to give a quick intro Im very new to flash (probably about a week) and have been learning from a book and from tutorials. The only problem is you cant ask paper questions, and Ive hit a roadblock preventing me from making my first website.

Im going to try to explain this as easily as possible. I've uploaded what I have right now to http://humflash.awardspace.com/ww_main.html:

I have a movieclip with menus and submenus (basically all thats on the site) on my main flash canvas, scene 1. I have a separate .swf that I created for the "history" submenu (of the "company" menu) and I have put a container on the canvas for it, on frame 20 (the keyframe I intend to jump to for that section) and I can not figure out where the code would go for that sub-menu button (which, again, is inside a movieclip instance) and even if its the right code, but one step at a time for now .

The movieclip instance of my menu system looks like this:

The actionscript for the history.swf file embedded in the container looks like this. That is including pre-loader:

I've been designing in flash for a while but on a really primitive level..mostly with only behaviors. I'm trying to learn actionscript and I am seeking help/advice on a particular issue.

I'm trying to create a menu, that brings up another scrolling menu, and another (all alongside each other). The menu is a list of stores, decending from country, to city...etc. I have a lot of data to put in and still want the menu to animate.

I thought it was going to be fairly simple to re-create but am at a loss for the best method, or the kind of code that should be applied. I've tried movie clips within movie clips but I'm not getting very far.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated on how to tackle something like this!!

Okay, I'm just wondering how to get rid of the Right-click menu/add my own items to it in Flash 5, if there were a drop down menu in my game it would ruin it.

I successfully completed the Kirupa tutorial on completing a Full Flash Site. However, I used the technique throughout my entire site and subsequently, my sub menus will not load.

Anyone know what I may be doing wrong?

Hi mi name is Juan David Londoño I am developing a menu with pop up or pull menus. i made my horizontal topbar with my topics buttns and each button triggers a MC with the pull menu it falls animated and has inside the MC other buttns that close the MC with an animation.since the buttons inside the MC that close that menu animatedly are under the second buttn of the horizontal top butts the menu wont close animated, if someone knows a better way for doing this thanks

I used the tutorial from:

but it's incomplete. Even if I download the source, I'm completely
stumped on how to edit it. If I try to locate any of the buttons,
everything acts like an image.
This is the last part of my project that's keeping me from moving forward.
