A Download Link Gets Blocked By Sucurity Warning On IE7... Any Solution To Let People Download Without Having That?
Anyone can kindly tell me how to create a download link (for zipped file) in a flash site that allows IE7 users to download without getting blocked by security message?

The message says "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer".

Audio Download Link From Flash To Download Dialog
I am defining a URL to an MP3 file and then having a button use getURL onPress to open it. On my computer, this opens a dialog box to save the file.

However, on some computers, it opens the file in Quicktime in browser, I'm guessing just because Quicktime is configured to do so for them.

I want the link to always go to the regular save dialog box, so that it doesn't go away from my full screen Flash site, and so the user can download the file instead of just listening in browser.

Any ideas on how to do this, either by using a different link or a different method?

Download Window Or Forced Download Instead Of Quicktime / Wmp
Hello Forum!-

I have been building my website in flash and have a simple question that I cannot figure out for some reason (maybe its too simple) . Anyhow I have uploaded my mp3 songs of my music and used the geturl and _blank so that when someone clicks on my link the music opens right into thier quicktime player (if on mac) or windows media player (if on pc). I want the user to be able to download the mp3 to there computer (ie like a normal download window appears stating "do you want to download this file to disk" is there some other code or line I need to add ???? It seems so simple? I would really appreciate the help as I have tried a number of things with no success. I have seen that I have to use FileReference but I do not completely understand it

here is what i currently have which is not working... I have a button that I created and placed this in the action within the button

How To Download The Akamai Download Manager
Hi. I was trying to download the Flash CS4 Trial to try it out, but it told me I needed the "Akamai Download Manager." I searched around for it, but I could not find how to download the actual download manager itself! (I am using Mac OS X if that's relevant by the way).

Hi y'all,

Ive almost finished my first website WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but there is just one thing that I need to know how to do.

In flash I have three buttons. All do the same thing. Or are supposed to.

Im try to get an .exe and an .swf (one for each button) file to download to the persons computer when they click the button.

Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out how to have a clickable link to download a PDF. I wan't to make sure it downloads. I don't want it to open in the browser, so I'm sure I will need some sort of hack or javascript to get this to work.
I also don't want to zip the file and rely on Joe Schmoe to have winzip.
Any ideas or threads you can point me to?

Hello All,
Does anyone have any tips as to how I should go about making a button that when clicked will bring up a download window so that the user can save it to there hard drive or open from location? When I set the getURL to whatever.doc all it does is go to that page and replaces my current flash page. I really just need a popup that allows them to download while holding my current page.

Download A .mov?
I would like to create a button which has a link to a .mov file which can be downloaded and saved by the user without actually playing the .mov file (brings up the save-as dialogue box).
In HTML I can 'right-click' and 'save target as'. In flash I can't do this.
Any thoughts on how to do this in Flash?? (and html if you know a better way than a right-click)

My name is Edgar and I started FlashMX just yesterday. I've learned a lot and am starting on my first Flash Intro. Every Intro (or so I think) that I've gone to has a sort of bar that tells you what %%%% of the Flash file has been downloaded.

how do i get a pdf to be downloaded to the harddrive only?
i tried "getUrl" but then it simply loads it to the browser window.
i need it, however, to be downloaded to the hd and possibly open up through acrobat once it is downloaded.

What I have is a list of files with checkboxes next to them. I want the user to be able to tick the boxes of the files they wish to download, and then download the selected items via a [download] button at the bottom of the page.

How would this be done? Anyone?

I guess that it may be something to do with dynamic text boxes and variables but I'm not sure.

I would like to know how can I set the actionscript for user to download a jpeg and save to the computer by clicking a button. My script is:

I want to set the script so that the user can choose the correct path to save this image (just similar to download a file from internet) instead of pop up the image. I am not sure if it is set from individual machine or can be controlled by using actionscript. Could anyone help? thanks.

What is the best way to make a list of mp3's to download. i.e. have 10 tracks listed and when they are clicked on the download dialogue box appears? Help With Download PHP Please
hi,

im trying to use PHP to open a dialogue box that downloads a file from my site...

im using this at the mo... thing is it seems to work but the dialogue
box doesnt display the file name or type.. it just shows the file
name as "downloadzip" with no extension.. i can download the file
but the computer doesnt recognise what file type it is.. unless i
use "open with"

any one got any ideas ??

HELP I Can't Download Sfx
somebody please help me! i'm not what you'd call a tech-head, far from it. i need to get some simple sfx for a production i'm doing sound design for but i don't know how to download the sfx i want.

i click download, then i click mp3 and then it comes up with a screen that just plays the file for me and i don't seem to be downloading anything onto the harddrive.

I have a link in my flashsite which downloads a PDF file IN THE SAME WINDOW as my site. Now I want to have that PDF file be loaded in a NEW WINDOW. Is that possible? What happens when the visitor of my site doesn't have acrobat reader installed on his/her system?

Is there another way to downlad PDF files? I tried some things with self-extracting archives but since I'm on PC I can only make PC .exe files which won't work on the MAC.

Whats the best over all choice on the DOWNLOADING PDF's subject? Using Compression programs like winzip make it even more complex for visitors to read your pdf...

I want to put stuff (mp3 for example) that will open the download box when a uers clicks on it. How do i go about doing this in flash? I made a link but it just starts the download and then opens whatever media player. I want the user to actually be able to download the content to their hd.
