it's a stupid question but still. why does the *.PDF open in acrobatreader when i want to download it from the net. i ques that i have to make a *.zip file from the *.PDF.

I made a flash button to download a MP3 file. I used the next script:

My own browser (Internet Explorer 6) opens a new Windows Media Player window that play's the file. I am able to save the file in Media Player.
Other peaple complain that they can't download the files at all!

How can i make the button open a "save as" window???

I am trying to enable users to download an mp3 file.. I have used getURL (file.mp3);

This works on some computers/browsers but on others it plays the mp3 in the users media player instead of downloading... sure this is pretty basic stuff but any guidance would be much appreciated

What would be the actionscript code to give to a button that would download a MP3 file from my server? For example, I have a band website and I have MP3 files of our songs we want to share with people. We want to create buttons that would start a download of the MP3 file from our server. How would I do it? How would I assign an "on Release" actionscript to a button that would start this process???

I saw something about it in flash cs3 help file (for as2) but didnt understand.

Possible To Download A GIF Into A Button?
Our Flash Application currently has Buttons on the UI that need to display an ICON which we need to download from the Web Server.

Is it possible, at run time, to fetch a GIF file and load it into a Button so that the user sees that ICON and will know what that Button represents??

If so, do we use the MovieClipLoader?

If not, what is the recommended way??

and if the button is in a movieclip does that do difference.

When I click on "download flash player" it gives me a message box with the option of "install now" but not the option of "download now", which it gave other people. Any idea why? I've tried "installing it" but the box in which the movie is supposed to appear disappears and nothing happens. I've run through about every possible fix, and it's still not working. Please help.

I know how to make a button link to a file on my server I.e. an MP3 file which plays when you click the button like in HTML, but how would I make it so that you can download the files, like right clicking on an HTML MP3 link. I'm assuming it would probably have something to do with AS. Is there a function Onrelease (download) or something?

I have a button in my site that I want to allow people to download an mp3 file.
I have used this code for this geturl("filename.mp3");

After I posted the file to the server and I test it on my computer, I can see the option asking me if I want to open it or save it but other computers start to open the mp3 file using Media Player.is there any way to force the usr to have the chance to choose if he wants to save or open it?

I am uploading a mp3 file but it is still big...is there a better ideia to allow people to download faster my set of eletronic music?

i'm not a real newbie to flash, but surtainly aint no pro.

I'm building a website for a couple of friends of mine who play in a band. I need to put some MP3's with their music on the site ready for download. Does anyone know if (and how) it's possible to create a button that automaticly starts downloading the file (not playing it in the browser window)? In future i'm planning on putting up some video files too witch need to be downloaded the samen way...
