Flash :: Dynamic Text Keeps 'blinking'

Blinking Dynamic Text
I can't seem to get this blinking dynamic text to work. Can someone look at it for me. Basically, I have a dynamic text box in a graphic symbol. Then, I have the graphic symbol in 1 movie clip on three different frames changing the Alpha level theoretically making the text blink... It isn't working. Please Help!

Show Blinking Cursor In Dynamic TextField
Hi,

is there a way to find out the position of a letter in a dynamic texField?

I would like to show the blinking cursor in a dynamic textfield. The field gets its input by using the substr method, everytime a user hits a key a letter from a text that is being load from xml is being added. Like a typewriter effect.

I tried something using a fake cursor, animated, like:

How can I make blinking text? I'm trying to make a flash video where at the end it goes something like Circle: Linked, and I was thinking it would be a nice effect for the Linked to blink in and out... Thanks for any help you can give me.

I just started using Flash MX 2004 a couple of days ago and have been reading tutorial after tutorial and I've created many different things. I would like to know how people make the button blink with the white ontop of it. Kind of hard to explain, but picture a button with text. When you move your mouse over it, a white square fades in and out fast, like this site www.cubixdust.com when you move your mouse over "main site" and "portfolio" it blinks. Are there any tutorials that I will show me how to do this?

Also, are there any other good places to read tutorials?

I'm new in here, but I've got to say this is awesome!
Look, what I am gonna ask might sound stupid, but onestly I have no clue how to crack it: I need to do a very fast blinking text, but it could be an icon or an image as well, doesn't matter. I thought you'd have a simple m/tween to do it, but I found out it's so slow compared to other I've happened to see on the web around. Is there any script or trick to do this?
I'd post an example if I had one, but either way I truly hope I gave you the idea of what I need.

Seen this in many sites:
a text usually "Loading" blinking very fast (on / off ...alpha thing)
tryed to achieve that with 2 frames looping using alpha even with 30fps but still is not that fast.

How to do that..so it blinks really fast...gonna use it for "loading" text

So, the problem is with the little tid-bits that come down off of the top of the screen. The one with the two plates looks fine, but the one with one plate has blinking text. The thing is, both of them are just timeline tweens - nothing fancy. And both look great when i hit "enter" and let them play in the flash authoring environment.

The only real difference is that the functional one has only position tweening... the broken one is trying to tween the rotation of the movieclip containing the text...

So - any suggestions to make the text not disappear when rotated...?

[F8] Possible To Remove Blinking Cursor From Input Text?
I've done a search on this and found one result but no response.

I have a form with alpha of 0 that I bring up to 100 when someone clicks a button. I have 3 input fields that the user can fill in. I have a function which clears the text fields of any data if the user clicks "clear".
Once the user clicks in an input text field the blinking cursor is active.
If the user decides not to fill in the form they can cancel it and I have a function which fades the whole form to 0 alpha.
However, the blinking cursor still remains.

Is there anyway to remove the blinking cursor from an input text field? If not what other ways around this would there be?

the situation is as a my simulation starts ..i have a text entry box.instead of using the normal blinking cursor i am using a movie clip cursor .but right now its showing me both the normal cursor & movieclip cursor also at the same time .. can u guys help me hide the normal cursor .

Blinking Buttons And Text-Tint Tweening Trouble
Hi,

Ok, I got my buttons vertically lined up on 3 layers...and on 4th layer I decide to make a text that "fades" it's Tint effect (placing it near one of the buttons)...And one of the 1st steps to make this fade-text-tint is by pressing F5 on frame 20 of the 4th text layer...

The problem:

I haven't even "motion tweened" it yet, and when I "tested" it...my buttons are blinking on the stage already..

What's the fix? or did I miss doing something...

Custom "blinking Cursor" Input Text
Hi there, anyone have an idea of how to either hide or customize the blinking cursor that appears when an input text box is clicked on or given a focus. My goal is to replace the default cursor with a simple blinking underscore. Hidding the cursor would prove just as useful as replacing it.

i have a flash movie that is controlled by variables outside of the movie... basically, i have some points on a map that i want to 'blink' if they're viewing that particular area at the time. for example...

if the user selects 'Area 1' from the webpage, i'm having it reload the site and i want the flash movie to reflect that. i'm transfering that area's ID to the flash file. that's working no problem. (src="myflash.swf?aid=1")

i'm trying to think of the best way to take that variable, and have the node for 'Area 1' blink...

like if the map has 5 points with values respectively... Area 1 is aid=1, Area 2 is aid=2, etc...

any ideas?

setInterval() & 1 blink function

Objective:
I wan to achieve a white text blinking from white to yellow then back to white at an interval of every 2 seconds.

My Script:

Blinking On And Off?
Hey,

I want a MC go from Black to White. I want a strobe like appearance. It's easy enough to do this. But it's not looking as subtle as it should. I have the flash going at 25 fps. Even when I make it faster the MC blink still does not look smooth enough. It's almost as if a line is going down the MC black to white effect.

Is there a way I can do this even better with action script?

Jumping To Areas Of Dynamic Text, Printing Dynamic Text
hello,

I have a movie clip that loads a .txt file into a dynamic text field. Due to the amount of content in the file a scroller bar is needed in order to view all of it. I want to create buttons that jump to different areas of the dynamic text for easier navigation so the user can go directly to various sections instead of having to use the scroller all the time. What kind of coding would I need to put on the buttons and within the .txt file at the areas I want to jump to?
Also, I would like to give the user the option to print everything within the dynamic text field only, not the surrounding elements in my movie clip. Is that possible?

I dont know what I am missing here but what I want to do is change the text inside a dynamic text field via actionscript. the code I am using runs in a loop within a function. Trace is outputting the correct values.

Blinking Lines...
Excuse me for asking a (probably, at least) stupid question...but I'm extremely new to Flash (using version 4), and am having a bit of trouble.

Basically, I want the word "welcome" to jump from the lower left to the lower right, and then have lots of long, white lines blink in and out of the middle of the screen.
So far, I can get the welcome word, and the white lines in...but I can't get them to blink.

I'm very NEW to Flash (started today). I'm using Flash5 - I need to create a satellite (or tower) that looks as though it is "sending waves up from the top of the tower". How would I go about doing this or is there a tutorial somewhere I can go through to learn more about doing something like this.

i am trying to make a starfield where certain stars blink, and others are stationary and dont do anything

i would like to use actionscript for this - unless someone has a nice, good looking way of doing it through something else

any help would be appreciated

it would also be good to have the stars be in random places and certain random stars will blink, but to a maximum - so say to a maximum of 10 stars, just so that all of them do not blink

also it would be nice if they blinked at different times and different speeds

.swf Blinking Issues
i have a scolling images .swf that when it reaches the end and loops to the beginning, it blinks then starts to play again.

there is a movie clip symbol in the main movie that contains placeholders for external .jpgs to be brought in using the loadMovie command.

is there a way to stop the .swf from blinking when it starts at the beginning?

I have a Flash file that you click continue each time to go to the next frame where a movie clip plays. I need the continue button to flash red and white a few times when the movie clip is finished so that they will know it's over and it's time to click continue. My movie clips are on a layer under the background layer in the timeline for animation reasons so if I add it to them each it doesn't work because it's covered. Please tell me if this is making any sense and if you have any ideas or advice.

Random Eye Blinking
Hello all,

A novice coder here with a, hopefully valid, question. I have a character with blinking eyes. In order to make the eye blinking look natural I wanted each interval between blinks to be random. Unfortunately my code generates one random number and applies it to all the intervals. Is there something I can add to this code to make a truly random # for each interval?
