Editing In Flash Mx
Have just moved to Flash MX from flash 5 and finding it a big change.
Few annoying things to note, why cant I select some frames, press delete and then they are gone? Why cant I lengthen or shorten the number of frames an object runs for by dragging the keyframe?
Argh :/
Oh well, Flash MX has some great scripting improvements which make life much easier so thats all good.
I was wondering, is there a hotkey to remove frames? having to right mouse click everytime, and select 'Remove Frames' all the time is a bit more time consuming than just pressing the delete button.
I know u can press F5 to insert blank frames, but what above remove?

[CS3] Editing Video In Flash Or In Video Editing Software First?
I am new to flash and just want to know what seems most logical in putting together some interactivity to my clients website. Described below is what she wants, and i'm wanting feedback as to whether all can be done in Flash or if I might need to combine different applications to create the final product.
She's a romance writer. She wants her website to have items from her book (like real images of an old western saddlebag, letter's, etc...) that when clicked upon, open up and reveal what's inside. So for example, user clicks on an image of an old western saddle bag and the bag opens up to reveal an old letter.
She wants real film/images from a real saddle bag from the local western museum. I'm thinking of tying a string to the saddlebag flap and videoing it opening to reveal the letter and then croping out everything besides the bag? If the video is 2 seconds.. that could be 30 frames to edit? or should i use something like Final Cut Pro to edit the 2-3 secs of video 1st (cropping out bag only) then import to flash? if anyone has any good ideas to get me started in the right direction, let me know! Thx so much.

Editing TXT With Flash
hello,
I am making a flash website, and in my movie, there is a news section. the news section reads the news from news.txt and loads it into my dynamic textbox. i have that all set up and it works fine. now. i have another section that is passwod protected, and has an input textbox, this is for editing the news. here i want news.txt to load into the textbox, and after adding or editing, i want it to be able to WRITE it back to news.txt for the news section to read.
so basically i cna load news.txt good, i just have no clue how to write to it from flash.

Help In Editing Flash

First of all I would like to appologise for my bad english.
Now comes my problem.
I've just buy an website template, witch come whit and flash header, and I can, and dont know how to do it.
This is the flash that i want to edit:
I wnat to change the names link1 to link4 and insert an url, so that wen somebody clicks on them, it will go the the selected page.
Can, please comebody help me out whit this problem?
Ps, i've also, attach'ed a zip file containing the .fla and a text file, say'ing what urls and names to edit, if anybody is feeling to change it for me.

Editing Without Using Flash (*****)
ok what I want to do is basically have it so I would only have to change a text file, html file or xml file on a server, and flash would load in those variables itself, so I don't have to edit content through flash.
I've never done this before, I know there are a few ways, such as loadvars, but I don't know exaclty the best way to implement this. I'd really appriciate any imformation on the subject, links you could provide, info, anything. thanks..!

Editing In Flash 8
Has anyone noticed an extreme sluggishness when editing an FLA file? For some reason the machine i'm on here at work seems to 'hang' for a couple of seconds when typing in text, or clicking a text box, changing movieclips etc.
Wondering if it might have something to do with the hardware, possibly the gfx card and/or cpu. I've been unable to find anything on google relating to this, the funny thing is the CPU usage doesn't go up that high (only to around 40-45%).
EDIT: Holding down the LMB while editing also brings CPU usage up to 100%, wtf is with that?

The problem is that I can edit my data, but only the data of the first entry.

Help With Editing XML In Flash 8
I basically need to load in an XML and then edit it in Flash 8. I have the PHP working; I can write and read XML. The problem is once I have it in Flash I don’t know what to do to edit the thing.
I have seen tutorials that allow you to add to the end of an XML file but I need this thing to edit where ever I am in the file.
So I need to load in an external XML file, edit that file in Flash, and send it back to the PHP file.
Any ideas?

Editing Sound In Flash
According to the Sound Editing 'Help' section, you can change the point at which a sound starts and stops playing. I'm trying to start my soundtrack 10 seconds into the sound I've recorded - I know you can do that using the envelope handles, but you get a 10 second gap at the beginning...so I've tried to nudge the Time In control bar to 10 seconds. Plays back fine in the Edit Envelope, but when you publish the movie it ignores that and starts from the beginning. Am I missing something?

No Sound While Editing In Flash MX
I use to use flash 5 and would drag a long wav file into the timeline and drag the cursor across and listen to the wav file and insert pictures at specfic points.
Now in Flash Mx after I import and insert the wav file. I don't get any sound when I drag the cursor across no sound? I've looked for a setting to turn sound on/off, but have not found any.
When I test the movie I do get sound. Any thoughts?

is there any way to break video apart in flash mx so that u can trace the bitmaps?, in flash 5 this wasnt a problem of course but its limitations in terms of importing video also meant you could create some real nice effects with video. if this isnt possible with flash mx is there any software someone could recommend that i should use to manipulate video before i bring it into flash? i've got a copy of premiere but i havent really looked at it much yet, could this do the job?

Editing Gradients In Flash MX
I'm having difficulty working with gradients. For example, I have a background which is a nice linear gradient between two colours, which I've turned so that it changes vertically rather than horizontally. Now I want to use the exact same gradient but with different colours across different pages. I'm sure that in Flash 5 I could just select the fill and the Colour Mixer panel would display the settings for that fill. Then I would just select the colour I want to change and change it. In Flash MX, I select the fill and the Colour Mixer doesn't change.
Anyone understand what I'm trying to do, and have any solutions??

What I'm trying to do is take a short video clip and insert keyframes into its entire length. I want to be able to edit the video frame by frame, but when I insert keyframe it simply inserts the entire video from the begining. Text Editing Via Flash
Hi,
I have 2 sites, one where i can watch the site as usual and the 2nd one is to edit text field. It works very good
But now i wonder if i can't edit the text with buttons?!?
The watch site has dynamic text fields with html enabled
The edit site has input text fields with html disabled. So i can add things like <p align="right"> an so on. but is it not possible to do these addings with buttons so that if i click on the button, flash adds <p align="right"> to the variable?!?

Editing Flash Template?
hi, Im new to Flash MX and im trying to edit a website template ive downloaded from Designload. I therefore have the .fla .swf and .psd files.
My question is how do change the content of the text in the .fla template? For example: I want to change where it says "Your Slogan Here" to my page title whilst retaining the same font, colour and style, only in the .fla file the text is currently in bitmap format and i cant see how to edit it. If i rightclick and "open with PhotoEd" it says "The file 'xyz' does not exist, unable to open PhotoEd".
I can however edit the text using the .psd files as id like in photoshop but then i cant see how i can import these in to MX to replace the template version?
What id like to do is to be able to edit the text in the .fla then generate a new .swf once im finished.. is this possible?

[F8] Editing Audio For Flash
I have a Audio file (wav) that i need to edit, (remove a small portion out of) that is currently in a flash movie.
i have two questions:
1.) what program would anyone suggest for a total beginner?
2.) and since this project is extremly old, i dont seem to have the orginal wav file anymore... the wav works in the swf, but if i pick Edit in the Library with the wav selected, Flash cannot find the wav file. (someone else started this project years ago and the file was orginally on a seperate machine). So im wondering , is there a way for me to get the wav since its working in my Flash file , or do i need to hunt down the orginal file??

[F8] Editing Image In Flash

I am trying to put a shining effect in my club's logo image. as I seen in the tutorial that firstly I have to select the portion which is required to be offered for a shining effect. I am trying to select the outline of the image with line tool and trying to fill it. But couldnt do it, it remains with some gaps(I think so) which are not visible and leads to NO COLOR fillup.
Please help, is there any tool by which a particular portion can be selected? I am trying to give a shiny effect (reflection with a running light) to an image which is somewhat similar to biohazard sign.

I am unable to selec that area properly asI am using image with lots of curves and circles, like a Bio Hazard Sign. is there anyway which can help me to select a particular color range?

[CS3] Editing A Flash Menu
Hello,
I'm new to flash and i'm trying to edit a flash menu from a template. What I want to do is edit the menu button text. The buttons on the flash menu are all the same (they all say 'home') until you load the actual Flash movie where the buttons change text (to 'about us' 'contact us' and so on). I'm guessing this is done via an actionscript but no matter where I look I can't find where this code is.
Can someone please help me? I'm not sure how to go about showing the file so i have put it on one of my webservers.

Editing Flash Mx Files In CS3?
I have some complicated movies put together using Flash MX. They work fine, but now need to be updated.
I was already thinking of updating my software - but can only find suitable updates to take me to CS3 Pro. Will I have problems in editing these original MX files?
Also, the users only have flash player 6 installed
Been searching around the internet - but just cant find anyone who has this experience and I really dont want to update and then find I am unable to edit my original files. Any input much appreciated!

Editing A Flash File
Hello, Guys
I am a new comer when it comes to Flash. I paid for and downloaded the Tab Menu by AdrianTNT.com for use on my website being developed. I know how to edit the XML file to change colors and the size of the menu. The menu seems to work fine but I want to edit the file and create a new SWF file with a different font size and shape of navigation bar. I have Flash 8 but I need some tutorial type information so that I can make those changes to the menu.
Please help me out of this jam.

Help With Editing Buttons In Flash
I have dreamweaver 8 and flash 8 and i need to add content to the nav bar that was made in flash 8....when i do edit and export back to dreamweaver it doesn't acknowledge the change even when i refresh....or close the program and manually take out the files....what am i doing wrong???

Editing And Preferences In Flash CS3
Hello Flash Forum,
I have been watching some on-line Flash CS3 tutorials at Lynda.com (quite good in my opinion).
One of the tutorials shows an editing session (writing action script code, etc).
The instructor has a really cool setup as far as his editing/typing code is concerned. All of his zero (0) characters have a slash
thru them! Does anyone out there know how to set this preference in the action script code editor??? I have looked around, and have not found it. could it be an "international" setting in windows? Each tutorial is in English, but maybe he is from Canada or something.

Editing DIR Files Using Flash
I work for a private manufacturing company and the company paid a developer to create an internal web site. The developer used Director to create all the links, text and import the images.. etc... then took the .DCR file and placed it into an .html file ....
Problem is he is no longer here and the company doesn't own Director, Flash, Dreamweaver or even a decent bitmap editor.....
Anyway, they need to move forward to support the current site and add content etc and I was told by a sales associate that Director was no longer available and that Flash could be used to edit the Director files. With that assumption, it would be possible to purchase the Web Standard package from Adobe and edit the current .Dir files using Flash, convert them into .SWF files ... further edit them and add content in Dreamweaver and have a path to support the website moving forward.
I tested this theory with the demo copies of Flash and it doesn't appear to support this... I call Adobe tech support and they were very curt about giving me any information on this.. except that it 'was possible' and to check the web (google, forums). I have spent some time searching and cant find anything concrete..... any advice thanks...
