Embedded Video Player
I recently found an embedded video player on the web that looked similar to an older Quicktime video controller, does anyone have a link to this or a similar tutorial/site. Thanks.

Flash 8 Wants To Update Player (why) Video Embedded
I have a flash movie created with Flash MX set to Flash Player 7 and Action Script 2.0 with an embedded MOV file.
A user with Flash 8.22 can't see the movie in IE because he gets a need to update Active X message. Unfortunately he does not have admin privileges to allow Flash Player to update.
What I would like an answer to is why is Flash 8 not running this movie in the first place???
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Simple, Embedded Flash Video Player?
My wife would like to start being able to post videos to our blog. I was wondering if anyone had a simple flash video player with start/stop/pause functionality that's similar in nature to the youtube/google players.
I just want to be able to upload a video, then "call" the player with a few parameters (filename, height/width (this isn't necessary, but would be nice), etc). Most of the videos will be in WMV format, although I'm sure I can convert them to MPG or MOV if that's a problem.
I do NOT want a player that accepts FLV files, although if it does this in addition to MPG or MOV files than that's okay.
Here's the steps my wife might take:
1) film the video (probably with our webcam).
2) Convert video to MPG or MOV (if required)
3) Upload video file to server
4) Paste a prepared chunk of HTML into the blog post window and change the filename.
That's it. It's got to be simple and quick. Does anyone have something like this?
I've looked at Jeroen Wiering's player but it appears to only accept FLV files. I tested it with a WMV file I had locally and those aren't accepted.
Embedded Flash Player Video On A Website
Right now i have a bunch of websites that uses windows media player to play .wmv files. I really hate the windows media player and want to change it for the flash media player. I know youtube.com uses it and it's much better user experience than windows player.
Is it possible to stream .wmv files within the flash player? Also what do i have to do to get the flash player working on my website? I know windows media player is simple to use, its just embedded object with some settings and a src file. Is setting up a embedded flash player more complicated?
Layering An Embedded Video Player On A Flash Element
Hi,
I've run into a bit of a problem layering an embedded video player on top of a flash object with HTML.
The situation is that we have a flash object, which is the background for the video player in a containder div. On top of this, we have another div that contains the video to be played. The content is being provided as wmv files (which we don't have the resources to convert), so we need the videos to play over the flash player.
This works fine on IE 6 and 7, however the video is flickering on Firefox. It appears as though both the flash (which has an animation running) and video are fighting for the screen space.
Has anyone run into this problem before, any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks.
Challenge - Flash Buttons To Play Video In Embedded Player?
Easy Explainition getting a button to play a video on an embedded windows media player. I want the video player to stay in 1 spot always and have 12 different buttons be able to load 12 different streaming videos in the same Windows media player.
The Long Explainition:
Alright ive got a page I made with flash and what im trying to do is to get the flash buttons to play a stream video from the internet in a windows media player thats embedded into the page.
My guess is I need an xml playlist but im not sure that would work because I only want to videos to play when you click the image button.
right now I have a flash media player as an example at www.activetruth.com/parkour.html
What I did was delete the flash media player and then embedded a windows media player onto my dreamweaver page. I just dont know how to connect the to.
Please help cuz I have no idea.
Embedded Video + Embedded Cuepoints
I am using embedded video with embedded cuepoints.
When i put setBufferTime on 0 the cuepoints of the flvmovie will be readed good, the right moment.
If i put setBufferTime on 10 or 20 than the cuepoints will be readed 10 or 20 secs faster.
Somebody known of this problem?
And have a workaround for this?
I am using Netstream connection.
(not the flvPlayback or mediaPlayback component)
Embedded Video Object In Video Basics - Part 1 Tutorial
I am a total newbie at Flash, so please bear with me. In Lee's Video Basics - Part 1 tutorial, one of the first steps is to create a Embedded Video object in the library. Flash Professional MX 2004 is being used in the tutorial and I am using Flash Professional 8, so maybe that is the reason I'm having a problem. The tutorial shows that by clicking "New Video" in the library panel, the embedded video object is automatically added to the library. When I click "New Video", I get a Video Properties dialogue box that defaults to "Video (ActionScript-controlled)". When I check the Embedded option, the OK button becomes disabled...only Cancel and Import are enabled. Clicking the Import button gives me an open dialogue box for a *.flv file. I'm not sure what to do here. Am I supposed to select the .flv file that I am going to use? I was under the impression that the tutorial was creating a generic object that I would be able to reuse whereas selecting a .flv file would make it specific to what I'm working on now. Can someone that is using Flash Professional 8 clarify what I should do?
Thanks,
Pat
Video Tips? - Embedded Video HOGGING CPU
I can't figure out what's going on here- I've tried every setting and even tried to sacrifice control by using an .flv all to no avail. I'm getting CPU usage of upwards of 60-70% at times when running my video at quality - medium (and this is on a dual processor g5).
Any tips or tricks on how to work with lots of embedded video? I'm working with uncompressed quicktimes and am importing them into flash with medium 400 kbps compression. Then I'm working with embedded video right on the stage so that I have paramount control. I've replaced all the pauses with a still so that the timeline rests over an empty video keyframe to unload CPU usage.
I've visited several sites with lots of video and most of them rarely jump above 30-40% CPU. BILLY BUSSEY'S is pretty similar as far as video content to the site I'm working on (lots of 3d animation) and it's way more efficient. I will post a link to my site tomorrow once I get it tidied up a bit more.
Thanks everyone
Video Controls For Embedded Video
I recently put together a flv for a client and had it progressevly downloading. Which worked well, but he now wants it as an exe so i have embedded the video along the timeline, but he still wants to be able to control it.
So can somebody point me to some decent looking controllers and some info on how to attach them to the video on the timeline.
Custom Video Bar W Embedded Video?
Hey Kirupa, I got a question I seen the tutorials at gotoandlearn for the custom video bar. What I got so far is video being embedded into the swf from blip.tv and plays fine, but I did not want to use a video bar that they have in flash already, I personally think their ugly. Was wondering how would I go about creating a custom video bar with a video that is embeeded and played from a website like blip.tv etc? Ifthere is a tutorial for this can you please provide the link, I do not expect ppl to do it for me, or an example of this somewhere can someone please help.
Thanks
Embedded FLV Player
Hi, I need to make swf's with embedded FLV's in them. I can't stream in FLV's from an external source, they must be embedded within the swf file. I find that I only get the ability to put a nice video player controls (the skinning panel) if I choose to stream.
Is there any way of getting a nice time line with pause and stop controls on a flv that's embedded into my swf?
Thanks for your help guys

Embedded Video?
I'm kinda confused about embedded video and non-embedded video.
Why would I want embedded and why would I want the other?
Any help?

Embedded Video
I downloaded a flash intro that I wanted to learn from and ran into more than I could handle.
There is an enbedded video in the file that I am not sure how to edit.
I would like to take their text, ie. (place company name here - once upon a time in movie) out and use my text so I can learn how they did these features for my advancement in flash.
I have attached the fla file so you can see what I am talking about.
How would I go about removing their text, placing my text in this movie and still keep the same effects?
Any help is very greatful.
Thank you,
Carey

Does anyone have any tips on how to attach a playhead to an embedded video being streamed from communication server? I've tried attaching a media component, but it told me my target was invalid.
Is there an existing component I can use?

Embedded Video
I have embedded video in my flash document and I have created a play, pause and stop button to control it. I want the video to play when the play button is clicked but the video keeps auto playing instead. How do I stop it from auto playing? I also want the video to play to a certain frame and then auto stop. How do I tell it when to stop?
Embedded HQ Video?
I'm trying to build a promotional piece for a client that will ultimately be made into a screensaver. There is a backdrop in part of the piece that is an embedded video, but when it plays at full screen it both looks pretty crappy (artifacting) and slows down the processor (there are also some text animations as well a few filter effects going on at the same time).
Is there a way to set this up to to generally make the video look better and ease up on the processors when viewed in full screen mode (it's for tradeshow use, so they won't be hooked up to a net connection for streaming options)?
The video (and my piece) are both at 25 fps, the video is a quicktime file that is 3.4 MB at 480 x 360, but is blown up to 800 x 600 to match the stage size..
Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Embedded Video Help?
I want to embed some video into a flash doc and have a button that I created play the video. I have tried with behaviors and naming the video but I cannot get the button behavior to recognize the embedded video.
I would also like to have some text scroll at particular points during the video. I have experimented some with cue points but I don't understand the actionscript concept.
Does anyone have any links they can point me to or some help they can provide?
Embedded Video - HELP
I'm going to ask the same question again - as I think I poorly explained myself before.
What is the best way to have a video clip in your Flash webpage? Should I embedd the video in the swf file itself - or use some kind of LoadMovie command and load it from an external source?
Also, how do I make it so that when you view the webpage, the videoclip has play/pause/volume controls?
Please help I'm seirously low on time for this!
(Apologies for re-posting, getting desperate)

Embedded Video / XML / CFM
i'm using embedded video, cfm and xml to create a slideshow. in a nut shell, an admin tool uses cfm to create xml and then flash reads it. it works great with mp3's and jpg's, but when i put a .swf file with video embedded in it the sounds works and the border i have setting itself to the images, swf's, etc... size sees it and adjusts to the correct height/width - but - the video and any buttons/art doesn't show up at all. i did this earlier with a test.swf and loaded the same .swfs with video and it worked, just not on this one. i will drop the code below, maybe it will help jar something loose - any ideas?

Embedded Flash Player RAM
I recall reading somewhere that Flash player in a web browser requires 2mb of RAM in addition to the file size of the SWF. Unfortunately, I havent found any formal information about this at MM web site.
Can anyone provide a link to a technote at MM about the amount of RAM that the embedded Flash player occupies?
[F8] Navigation And Embedded Mp3 Player
Hello all
I need help developing a site that has an embedded mp3 player that continuously streams while the user clicks away at various navigation.
I'm guessing that I need to split the page a couple ways so that the mp3 player does not get interrupted, but I don't want to do it with standard HTML frames.

[F8] 2 Flash Objects - Audio Player Passes Pause To Video Player
I have 2 flash objects on my html page.
One is a video player and the other is an audio player.
The video player starts playing by default.
I'd like to somehow set this up so that if someone clicks on the audio player, it automatically pauses the video player.
Please note that these are 2 SEPARATE FLASH OBJECTS on my HTML website. I'm not developing an all Flash driven website.
The audio player was added as an afterthought, originally there was only going to be a video player on the page.
How can I send a pause command from the Audio Player to the Video Player?

Embedded Video And Interactivity
I've got a scene with several buttons that take users to other scenes as a way of navigating the various options on a CD-R. In that same scene, I've embedded a video clip and created buttons to control its play (start/stop).
I put a stop action at the beginning of the timeline to give the user the control of whether to play or stop the movie. The stop action, however, stops the actions of all the other buttons ;-}.
Any suggestions on how to work this out so that the button actions aren't halted, but the embedded video doesn't just start on its own?
Thanks a lot.
Embedded Video TO Director 8.5 NO GO
I'm having some problems inporting my moive.swf file in to director 8.5.
I started with a .mov file with I imported into my Flash MX lib, I converted it and made it small enough to fit under the 20mb limits. I then published this and named it movie.swf. It plays exactlly how i have it set up in flash. But when I import it into Director only the background shows up?
Any insite why?

Embedded Video Out Of Synch
I have a 10,000 frame piece of FLV video in Flash (Sorenson 'squeeze') and it works great until later on in the timeline. At around the halfway mark, the audio starts going out of synch with the video. In most cases you wouldn't notice but unfortunately I'm working with a video of someone talking and it looks stupid with them mouthing one thing and saying another!
Any ideas to stop the audio going out of synch?
Embedded Video Issues
Hi guys
is there a good place that deals with embedded digital video in flash movies?.Ive done quite a lot of video in mx and mx 2004,and there are quite a few serious issues with this. It ranges from video format support, video/audio sync problems, poor playback with large videos, application crashing etc.
Thanks guys

Embedded Video Transition
Is there a way to have your main timeline play after your embedded video is done playing? I have this code on my timeline right now but would like it to continue to play after the video is done. I can see how this could be done if you had the movie clip inside your flash file but I've been given an external video file which I can't edit so I'm stuck using this format.
Code:
// Create a NetConnection object:
var netConn:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
// Create a local streaming connection:
netConn.connect(null);
// Create a NetStream object and define an onStatus() function:
var netStream:NetStream = new NetStream(netConn);
netStream.onStatus = function(infoObject) {
status.text += "Status (NetStream)" + newline;
status.text += "Level: "+infoObject.level + newline;
status.text += "Code: "+infoObject.code + newline;
};
// Attach the NetStream video feed to the Video object:
my_video.attachVideo(netStream);
// Set the buffer time:
netStream.setBufferTime(5);
// Being playing the FLV file:
netStream.play("RFP-open.flv");

Help With Embedded Flash Video.
hi guy's. i'm new to the forums and relativly new to flash.
What i'm trying to do is have a timeline full of movie clips (about300). and when each clip finishes i want the to move automaticaly to a goto frame() command. My problem is that i don't want any user interaction at this stage. i want it to all be automatic.
Each movieclip contains a video i've embedded inside, with no script. ive then named the movieclips and dragged them onto a timeline. At the moment i'm just stuck on frame 1 with the movie looping over and over.
please help

[F8] Help Modifying This Embedded Video Please
Hello everyone,
I have a problem that is driving me absolutely crazy for about a week now. I have a template that has an embedded video inside the flash. What I want to do is capture a screenshot of every frame of the embedded video so that I can modify them in photoshop.
However, no matter what I try it has not been possible (except one - read below). I have tried:
Exporting the swf file to a bitmap sequence
Exporting the video to flv
Tried to open the flv in various movie editors
Tried converting the flv to different formats (without success) My computer is now filled with various programs that said they could convert the flv (but not this one for some reason)
The only success I had was exporting the video as an .avi however it distorted everything pretty badly! So I am back to square one and looking for much needed help!
I have attached the file in hopes someone will have some suggestions.
Thank you all!

Muting Embedded Video
I have an embedded video which I put into a movieclip on the _root of my movie. On the start of the movie I have its visibility as false but the audio still plays.
I tried both
ActionScript Code:
_root.this.volume = 0;
and
ActionScript Code:
_root.embeddedvideo.volume = 0;
but neither seem to work.
Embedded Video Issue
here's what i've got:
stop();
cowVideo_mc.visible=false;
function playCow (Event:MouseEvent):void{
background_mc.visible = false;
cowVideo_mc.visible = true;
}
cow_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playCow);
what i want is for cowVideo_mc to begin playing on the cow_mc mouse event. is there an easy way to do that? i'm trying to keep all of this on one frame, so i'm avoiding a gotoAndPlay.
THANKS!

Where Is My Skin On My Embedded Video?
I created a few Flash videos and embedded them on a site I'm building for a
customer, you can see 2 of them at this link...
http://www.margostern.com/television/television.html
If you look at the "Partnership for a Drug Free America" video you will see
the skin shows up fine, if you look at the "Coca Cola" video you will see
that the skin doesn't show up at all. I checked the .flv properties in
Flash and the path for the skin is set exactly to where the skin is in the
"television" folder on the site. This makes no sense at all because the
skin shows up on one video but not on the other. Can anyone tell me what
the problem might be? I'm stumped!

Updating Embedded Video?
I'm new at Flash and I'm having trouble updating a embedded video on my company's website. I've followed instructions in my Flash books but it's not working. Updating doesn't work at all and when I import it as a new video file I loose the audio. It is a QuickTime video. I had a MPG file that worked fine with the play and pause buttons. I've run out of resources. Any help will be much appreciated.
FLV Skin Embedded In Video?
Is there anyway place the skin inside of the actual swf that contains the FLV component? I am making a player that just has a pause/play button by customizing one of the skins but would rather not have it deployed separately.
Maybe someone has seen a tutorial on how to make a player built directly on the time line with out using a skin at all? Thanks in advance!
Embedded Video Skins
Embedding video in swf and placing in InDesign for export to PDF. Don't see a way to include embedded skins with embedded video to get a single swf to place in InDesign to ultimately get PDF playback with the skin. Procedure or examples to do this?
_framesloaded - Embedded Video
I have a movie with embedded video, it is about 2 mgs and I know flash has a natural streamer however - it seems to get stuck when I put it live. I want to load 400 frames then start the movie - so it gives it some buffer time.
I tried doing a frame based preloader (yes - I know this is depricated) by putting this code on frame 1 on the root with frame 3 being the first frame of the embedded video.
onEnterFrame = function () {
if (_framesloaded>=400) {
gotoAndPlay(3);
} else {
gotoAndPlay(1);
}
};
When I test it in simulate download, it goes till 400 frames – then plays (3) – however the video doesn’t play – just sits still. This is very strange, I’m really not sure what I’m doing wrong.
I’d appreciate any help… thanks

Embedded .flv - How To Detect End Of Video
i've done work with dynamic .flvs (streaming and prog dl) but never really embedded an .flv in the timeline.
now i've got three of them embedded and i need to detect when each has finished playing (they will rotate).
I can't seem to find any good info on how to control playback on an embedded flv (i chose to embed them inside movieclip symbols).
thanks for any help!
Playing Embedded Video (FLV)
I'm embedding an FLV into a SWC via the Flash IDE libary.
In my SWF project, I want to load the video and show it, but I do not want to use the built in player with all the buttons as this video is used for between level transitions in a game.
From my searches in Flash Help and on here, there is only help on loading a video from a web-site or locally (thanks to those who responded to a previous video question I asked a few months ago.)
I'm trying to figure out if I need a NetConnection, NetStream, if I can have the video be of type "Video", if there is a way to create a variable of the type that is video (e.g., var myLevelVideo : LevelVideo = new LevelVideo() ), etc...
Can anyone point me in the right direction or have sample code?
